defines revival in his book– It’s Happening, April 17, 2018.

ORLANDO — World-renowned worship leader William McDowell, who now pastors Deeper Fellowship Church, based in Orlando, Florida, penned a new book, titled It’s Happening, as a way to document the supernatural phenomena currently taking place in his congregation.

According to McDowell and his team, Deeper Fellowship has been experiencing a “tremendous move of God” for more than a year now starting in 2016. They’ve documented over 200 miracles in which they’ve witnessed physical healings in addition to deliverance, supernatural breakthrough, and salvation. They have begun collecting crutches, wheelchairs, and other medical devices at the altar of the church because “people are being healed.”

“I had to write the book because testimony creates faith for the future and it also brings glory to God,” McDowell told The Christian Post in a recent interview. “I think for us to be experiencing what we’re experiencing and not tell it would be a disservice to what the Lord is doing.”

In his book, which is now available, McDowell “pinpoints what revival is, why we should desire it, and how it is happening now,” the book’s description…

Father of sick Alfie Evans meets Pope in Rome

Mr Evans, 21, and Kate James, 20, want to move their son from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool to Rome for treatment and have launched a second application to the Supreme Court.

They have already lost fights in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights after Mr Justice Hayden ruled that doctors could stop providing life-support treatment for the 23-month old.

Judges have heard that Alfie, born on May 9 2016, is in a semi-vegetative state and has a degenerative neurological condition doctors have not definitively diagnosed.

Mr Justice Hayden said flying Alfie to a foreign hospital would be wrong and pointless.

Mr Evans posted on Facebook that he flew to Rome on Tuesday evening and met the Pope on Wednesday morning.

Posting photos of himself kissing Pope Francis’s hand, he wrote: “Your holiness save our son.”

During his general audience afterwards, the Pope led the crowd in a moment of silent prayer for Alfie.

At the beginning of April, Francis tweeted his support for the youngster, posting: “It is my sincere hope that everything necessary may be done in order to continue compassionately accompanying little Alfie Evans, and that the deep suffering of his parents may be heard.

“I am praying for Alfie, for his family and for all who are involved.”

Earlier this week Francis said: “It’s our duty to do everything to care for life.”

Pompeo’s Kansas Church Asks God to ‘Give Him Strength’ in Senate Confirmation Process

Pompeo’s Kansas Church Asks God to ‘Give Him Strength’ in Senate Confirmation Process

Under fire from Muslim, Jewish and human rights groups for a record of anti-Muslim remarks, Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo is receiving spiritual support from his home church in Kansas.

Eastminster Presbyterian Church, where Pompeo is a member and former deacon and Sunday school teacher, prayed Sunday (April 15) that God would “give him strength” in his uncertain confirmation process.

“This morning, we want to pray for our dear brother Mike Pompeo as he goes through the confirmation process,” the Rev. Warren Snyder, Eastminster Presbyterian’s assistant pastor, said as members bowed their heads.

“We ask that you would be glorified in his life, that you would be lifted up, that you would strengthen him and his wife (Susan) and his son (Nick) as he goes through this process,” Snyder prayed to God. “Give him strength. Help him to stand.”

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee began hearings Thursday on whether to confirm Pompeo — the outgoing CIA director nominated by President Trump to replace Rex Tillerson in the top diplomatic post.

In advance of Pompeo’s testimony before the Senate panel, the Rev. Stan Van Den Berg, the Wichita church’s senior pastor, issued a call to prayer Wednesday. He cited a request from Susan Pompeo for “specific prayer during this very important and stressful time.”

“He very well…

Catholic Bishops ‘affirm’ decision of hospital in Alfie Evans case

The 23-month old has a degenerative neurological condition and is in a semi-vegetative state.

His parents have appealed to the Pope after losing fights in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights after Mr Justice Hayden ruled that doctors could stop providing life-support treatment for him.

However, at the Catholic Bishop’s conference of We affirm our conviction that all those who are and have been taking the agonising decisions regarding the care of Alfie Evans act with integrity and for Alfie’s good as they see it.”

They continued to praise the hospital workers: “The professionalism and care for severely ill children shown at Alder Hey Hospital is to be recognised and affirmed. We know that recently reported public criticism of their work is unfounded as our chaplaincy care for the staff, and indeed offered to the family, has been consistently provided.”

The parents want to bring their son to Italy for treatment but Mr Justice Hayden said flying Alfie to a foreign hospital would be wrong and pointless.

The bishops said: “It is for that Hospital to present to the British Courts, where crucial decisions in conflicts of opinion have to be taken, the medical reasons for an exception to be made in this tragic case.”

They concluded: “With the Holy Father, we pray that, with love and realism, everything will be done to…

Barbara Bush, Former First Lady and Political Matriarch, Dies at Age 92

Barbara Bush, Former First Lady and Political Matriarch, Dies at Age 92

Barbara Bush, the wife of America’s 41st president George H. W. Bush, died Tuesday evening at her home in Houston, Texas. She was 92.

Mrs. Bush has been called “the matriarch of the most successful political dynasty in the modern era.” She was the wife of a president, the mother of another president (George W. Bush), and the mother of two state governors (George W. Bush–Texas and Jeb Bush–Florida).

She created a lasting legacy in her role as First Lady and in her dedication to and support of her family. She was known for being witty, smart, unpretentious, and had a way with words.

She undoubtedly played a major role in her family’s political success. She spoke on the campaign trail both for her husband and her son. As First Lady, she championed the causes of literacy and civil rights.

She once remarked that she would do anything in her power to help her family’s political success, except, she said, “I won’t dye my hair, change my wardrobe or lose weight.”

As ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported, Mrs. Bush had decided to decline further medical treatment earlier this week and was instead focusing on “comfort care.”

Jim McGrath, a spokesman for the Bush family, shared a statement on Twitter confirming Mrs. Bush’s passing.

He followed that statement up with an update from Jean Becker, chief of staff at the office of George H. W….

Churches urged to rethink mission trips over orphanage trafficking concerns

Krish Kandiah, the founder of Home for Good, a fostering and adoption charity, wants the UK to adopt a law which is being brought in in Australia which would limit the often non-intentional funding of orphanages where children may be exploited.

He told Premier: “One of the things the Australian government has been really revolutionary on is taking the modern day slavery bill that was here in the UK and adding to it a clause around orphan trafficking.”

Explaining what orphanage trafficking is, Rebecca Nhep joint CEO of ACCIC international relief, an aid and development agency in Australia, told Premier: “It’s a type of human trafficking that involves the recruitment and movement of children, primarily from their families and communities into institutional care settings for the purpose of exploitation, which can look like harbouring children in situations which are detrimental to their care and detrimental to their development or it can also look like for the purpose of orphanage trafficking.”

Rebecca said many churches don’t know that it is “a business model, whereby children are being used as the commodity in order to illicit and attract for funding and donations.”

Often these orphanages are funded by generous donations, foreign aid budgets and visits from church groups but the supply supersedes the ‘demand’, therefore keeping children in homes and sometime kept…

Just Because It’s Viral Doesn’t Mean God Approves

Expand | Collapse
(PHOTO: FACEBOOK/LISA BEVERE)Lisa Bevere’s latest book, “Adamant,” addresses how Christians can stand firm in the truth in today’s culture of moral relativism.

In an era of “fake news,” Lisa Bevere encouraged Christians to use social media to promote “truth” rather than “opinion,” warning that just because something goes viral doesn’t mean it has the approval of God.

“There’s a huge danger when it comes to social media, because there’s often no accountability,” the New York Times best-selling author and internationally known speaker told The Christian Post. “The Bible is very clear that many of us should not be masters or teachers, but we can translate that to bloggers and posters. The Bible says we’re going to give an account for every idle word, and I think that can be applied to what we post on social media. We need to use social media to declare truth.”

Among Christians today, there’s a “mob mentality” where “people can say whatever they want to say, and when it goes viral they think they have the approval of God,” the speaker and author contended.

“But that’s not the case,” she said. “Sometimes, when things go viral, you’re not impacting people, you’re infecting them. You’re pointing out problems and not solutions. If you don’t give people an answer and point them to Jesus, you’re just creating more of a problem.”

Barbara Bush “ran the family that ran the country”

Barbara Bush died last night. Newsweek is describing her this morning as “the no-nonsense first lady who ran the family that ran the country.”

Public figures from around the world are paying tribute to this remarkable woman. President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump said they “join the nation in celebrating the life of Barbara Bush.” They noted that “she will be long remembered for her strong devotion to country and family.”

Former president Obama and his wife, Michelle, issued a statement calling her “the rock of a family dedicated to public service” and “an example of the humility and decency that reflects the very best of the American spirit.”

When her failing health was announced earlier this week, I wrote a tribute to this remarkable lady you can read here.

Mortality is a fact for us all

Mrs. Bush’s passing is not the only death making headlines this morning.

A woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, died yesterday after being partially sucked out of a plane window when an engine exploded on a Southwest Airlines flight. The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing and is being praised for her “calm handling of the situation.”

Jennifer Riordan was one of 149 people on board. Her family confirmed her death in a statement last night: “Jennifer’s vibrancy, passion and love infused our community and reached across our country. Her impact on everything and everyone she touched can never be fully measured.”

Meanwhile, at least two people died following a crash on Highway 119 in California. One vehicle overturned on the roadway and landed on its side.

Closer to where I live, the driver of a tour bus was found dead by authorities after pulling over on the side of a highway in Lewisville, a city near Dallas. The exact cause of the driver’s death is under investigation.

I could go on, of course. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2,712,630 Americans die each year. Heart disease is the…

Passenger recalls moment plane window shattered

Jennifer Riordan, a bank executive and mother of two from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was hit by shrapnel as passengers desperately scrambled to save her from getting pulled out of the plane by the sudden decompression.

She later died and seven others were injured.

The pilots of the Southwest Airlines plane – flying from New York to Dallas with 149 people aboard – were forced to put the twin-engine Boeing 737 into a rapid descent and made an emergency landing in Philadelphia as frightened passengers using oxygen masks said their prayers and braced for impact.

New Yorker Amanda Bourman who was on board with her husband said: “I remember holding my husband’s hand and we just prayed and prayed.

“Everybody was crying and upset. You had a few passengers that were very strong, and they kept yelling to people, you know, ‘It’s OK! We’re going to do this!'”

She shared a picture of the damaged engine on Instagram and said a passenger exclaimed “there is a God” when the plane landed.

Photos of the plane on the tarmac showed a missing window and a chunk gone from the left engine, including part of its cover.

Marty Martinez, a passenger on the flight, broadcast the experience live on Facebook.

The National Transportation Safety Board said a preliminary examination of the blown engine from Flight 1380 showed evidence of “metal fatigue”.

In a news conference, NTSB chairman Robert…

Institutional Idolatry, Church Sickness #4

Church Sickness #4: Institutional Idolatry

Institutional Idolatry happens when church members have an unbiblical devotion to inconsequential matters.

Some highlights from today’s Rainer Report:

  • Church facilities are the most common form of institutional idolatry.
  • We shouldn’t equate a certain style of church music with the “right kind of music.”
  • Churches with institutional idolatry are some of the most resistant to change.
  • Institutional idolatry gets us to focus on the wrong things instead of Great Commission things.
