In order to survive in an increasingly pluralistic culture, Christian colleges and universities must remain firmly anchored in their theological and spiritual heritage, and uphold a fundamentally Christ-centered worldview as the lens through which they provide education, an expert in Christian higher education has warned.
Dr. Kevin Mannoia, the former president of the National Association of Evangelicals who currently serves as chaplain at Azusa Pacific University, chair of the Wesleyan Holiness Consortium, and president of International Council of Higher Education, explained in an interview last week that in previous years, the United States operated from a “predominantly Christian worldview.”
However, that is becoming less and less true.
“We are increasingly operating in a pluralistic culture,” Mannoia said, explaining that today, Christian colleges’ commitments on sexuality, abortion, and other cultural issues are constantly challenged.
“Our culture has said abortion and same sex marriage is okay,” he said. “Our culture says marriage is a civil institution. Our culture says lifestyles and even gender and sexual orientation are not a factor. Those are some cultural positions that are inherently at odds with a historic Christian worldview.”

Actor Chris Pratt is not afraid to share about his Christian faith. He often posts faith-themed messages on his social media. Recently, Pratt went to see several Christian artists perform in concert.
According to RelevantMagazine.com, over the past weekend, Pratt attended a concert featuring Christian artists For King & Country, Zach Williams, and Matthew West.
After the concert, Pratt got to go backstage to spend some time with the performers. Later, the Christian musicians posted about the meet-up on Instagram.
“Huge fan of this guy!” singer Matthew West captioned his photo with Pratt.
“Had a great time hanging with @prattprattpratt. Such a down to Earth dude!” Zach Williams captioned his photo with the Parks and Recreation and Guardians of the Galaxy star. “Praying blessings over him and his career.”
In December, Pratt and wife Anna Faris announced they were divorcing. Pratt also went through the trial of their son’s premature birth. In a recent YouTube video, Pratt says someone recently asked him, “With the things going on in your life, how do you keep the faith?”
Pratt responded that he was greatly helped by reading the new book by his pastor Chad Veach who leads Zoe Church in Los Angeles. Pratt recommended the book, Faith Forward Future to all his fans.

Rich Wilkerson Jr., senior pastor of Vous Church in downtown Miami and star of “Rich in Faith,” said he uses unconventional methods like reality TV to share the Gospel because “wherever the church avoids, darkness tends to invade.”
Wilkerson, who officiated the 2014 wedding of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, told The Christian Post that platforms like reality TV and social media are “tools” that, when put in the hands of the right people, can be an effective ministry strategy.
“I don’t think people of faith should run from these platforms; I think we should use every means to get the Gospel out,” he said. “I think social media is a great platform and Jesus should be the forefront on both social media and on TV. Why would I not be using every opportunity I can to be spreading the Word?”
“Rich in Faith,” a series that airs on Oxygen and chronicles the life and ministry of Wilkerson and his wife, DawnCheré, was a “huge door opener,” the pastor said.

Writing to the Daily Telegraph, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Sir Edward Leigh, Martin Vickers and Sir Bill Cash detailed why Catholic schools should be able to admit more children on the basis of religion.
The politicians claimed “Catholic schools are also more likely to be oversubscribed from people outside their faith community than Islamic and Hindu Schools, to which non-Muslims and non-Hindus rarely apply”.
The current cap stops new faith schools admitting more than 50 per cent of children on the basis of religion.
Their defence of scrapping the cap follows another letter written on Tuesday to the Daily Telegraph by a group of 70 faith leaders, politicians and academics who warned lifting the cap would be “deleterious to social cohesion and respect”.
However, this was refuted in Thursday’s letter with the four politicians highlighting the number of non-Catholic pupils existing Catholic schools admit.
The letter stated: “Open, inclusive, diverse and integrated schools are to be welcomed, and existing Catholic schools provide a very good model for this. A third of their pupils are non-Catholic and they educate more than 26,000 Muslim pupils.
“One in seven ethnic minority pupils in England and Wales attend a Catholic school, including more than one in five black children.”
As Canon law forbids Catholic bishops from turning away Catholic pupils because of their faith, the…
