It Could Run Desktop Apps Like a Computer

Reuters/Dado RuvicMicrosoft is rumored to be launching its Surface Phone this fall.

A report says the long-rumored Surface phone could run applications that normally just work on full-fledged computers.

With recent Android and iPhone releases seeming to be intent on slimming down units and making them bezel-less, reports indicate that Microsoft is trying to change the game in a way that no other brand has — through its rumored Surface phone.

According to Inquisitr, Microsoft plans to accomplish this by creating a hybrid handset that is as capable as a desktop or laptop computer. This means the Surface phone would be able to run desktop-grade applications and act like an always-on extension of the Windows 10 operating system.

If true, this could be the reason for the phone’s groundbreaking design. It has earlier been revealed that Microsoft is applying for a patent for a live hinge as a portion of a “multi-part device.”

The live hinge should allow the device to be folded back when only one part is needed, folded together when not in use, or seamlessly connect the two screens for when both are needed. The last one could be very useful when using the phone as a laptop extension.

In the patent, Microsoft detailed that this design should help the mobile phone reach its full capacity. “Mobile phone displays have increased in size to the point where they can now consume an almost an entire front surface of a phone. In some cases, further increases in display size would detract from other capabilities of the devices, such as…

Open Heavens 13th February 2018: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye — Careless Warriors

Open Heavens 13th February 2018: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye — Careless Warriors

Topic: Careless Warriors [Open Heavens 13 Tuesday February 2018]

Memorise: “Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” – Mark 13:33

Read: 1 Samuel 30:1-6 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Bible in One Year: Leviticus 4-5, Romans 16

MESSAGE

I have watched with pity and dismay as many children of God, particularly ministers of God, carelessly fight spiritual battles at the expense of their own lives and family. If you desire to be triumphant in every area of life, you need to pay attention to what the Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples in today’s memory verse. You need to apply caution and be strategic in all that you do. To see the big picture of the challenges confronting, you need to watch. To get direction and strength from heaven to help you confront these challenges, you need to pray. In today’s Bible text, we have the story of the careless group of warriors: David and his mighty men of valor. While they went about fighting for survival as mercenaries, they left their own camp unprotected. Before they returned from their raid, their own camp had been raided and burnt, and their wives and children were taken away as captives by the enemy. When they discovered what the enemy had done, these men of war were so distressed that they wept like babies. They didn’t just weep, they even revolted against their leader, David, and spoke of stoning him to death. However, faced with that volatile situation, David did something worthy of emulation: he encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6).

There are a good number of lessons we can learn from this story; first of which is that as you fight the Lord’s battle even the Lord of Host expects you to watch your back. Our God does not expect you to be presumptuous. The words of our Lord Jesus Christ concerning counting the cost before building a tower or fighting a foe are pointers to strategic planning in spiritual warfare (Luke 14:28-32). Secondly, there should be division of labor in spiritual warfare. We should not all be at the war front at the same time. All bases must be covered. The early church realized this truth on time, and so the apostles gave themselves to the ministry of word and prayer while they appointed others to look after the administration of corporate social responsibilities (Acts 6:1-7). Thirdly, persons in leadership positions should always be proactive. David’s proactive move to seek God’s face was what saved the day. He inquired of the Lord on how to go about recovering all that they had lost (1 Samuel 30:7-8). At the end of the day, what they should have done in the first place was what they later did. They learnt that they should always organize themselves into bands with different roles. When they pursued to recover all, not all of them pursued after the raiders, but when they shared the spoils of war, those who went to battle had the same portion as those who waited behind to look after their stuff. This principle did not go down well with some of David’s men who did not understand it (1 Samuel 30:21-24). Indeed, God’s ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8)!

Key Point: Watch and pray as you engage in spiritual warfare.

Hymn 14: Onward Christian Soldier

1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

2. At the name of Jesus Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, All one Body we,
One in faith and Spirit, One in charity.

4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never ’gainst that Church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, which can never fail.

5. Onward, then, ye people! Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Flatimes’ Notice Board: Please do not prolong your salvation if you have not repented. Many are going home daily and tomorrow maybe too late…There is still hope, JESUS LOVES YOU!

Authorities in Sudan Demolish Church Building in Khartoum

Authorities in Sudan Demolish Church Building in Khartoum

Authorities in Sudan yesterday demolished a church building in North Khartoum, sources said.

The 64 members of the Evangelical Church in Al Haj Yousif in the Sudanese capital will have no place to worship next Sunday after land officials sent a bulldozer accompanied by police to tear down their building without prior notice, according to one of the church’s leaders. Police on three trucks arrived at the church compound accompanied by a bulldozer just a few hours after the end of Sunday worship, the leader said.

“They took everything from the church,” she said.

Officials told church leaders that the church was demolished because worship created public disturbances, but Christian leaders said the church sat on land that the government is helping a Muslim business interest to seize.

Leaders of the Evangelical Church in Al Haj Yousif said the Muslim who claims ownership of the church property has forged documents showing ownership. They said the church has owned the property since 1989, and that a judge last year verbally confirmed its ownership.

With police at the ready in case of potential confrontations, the bulldozer began demolishing the structure by noon. Eyewitnesses said police confiscated chairs, tables and Bibles before the demolition.

One Christian called for rights organizations to pressure the Sudanese government to return the…

NASA Monitoring Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster En Route To Mars

SpaceXFalcon Heavy’s liftoff from the Kennedy Space Station in Florida

NASA has added Elon Musk’s midnight cherry Tesla Roadster to its database of celestial bodies following the successful launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. The car is currently destined for the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter where it will stay indefinitely.

The car joins the solar system’s eight planets and their moons, more than 755,000 asteroids, and 3,500 comets in the database which aims to monitor everything up in the night sky. The car and its driver “Starman” can now be found through the online Horizons tool from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab where it is listed as object -143205.

“Dummy payload from first launch of SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch vehicle consisting of a standard Tesla Roadster automobile and a space-suit wearing mannequin nicknamed Starman,” NASA’s official description of the Roadster.

“Also includes a Hot Wheels toy model Roadster on the car’s dash with a mini-Starman inside, a data storage device placed inside the car contains a copy of Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation,’ A plaque on the attachment fitting between the Falcon Heavy upper stage and the Tesla is etched with the names of more than 6,000 SpaceX employees,” the description continued.

According to the database, the sports car orbited Earth for six hours, then completed its third-stage burn to reach heliocentric orbit. Despite being a demo mission meant to show that the rocket can fire its engines and reach orbit, the launch of the Falcon Heavy rocket has generated quite a bit of publicity for SpaceX.

This was partly due to Musk offering…

Olympic Snowboarder Kelly Clark Finds Purpose in Christ

Olympic Snowboarder Kelly Clark Finds Purpose in Christ

Kelly Clark’s quick rise in the world of snowboarding has made her a legend in the sport. But as she literally soars to incredible heights in the snow, it took getting grounded in her faith for Clark to really know herself.

The most recent issue of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.orgMagazine profiles Clark, now one of the best snowboarders in the world. And as she gears up for the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, she’ll take her faith in Christ with her.

Along with Clark, the January/February 2018 issue of FCA Magazine features several Olympic-caliber athletes who share about their faith journeys in advance of some of the biggest sports moments of their lives.

“It’s been incredible to share the faith stories of these world-class athletes in FCA Magazine,” said FCA Magazine Editor Clay Meyer. “Now, with the Winter Olympic Games under way in PyeongChang, we are cheering them on as they go for gold and glorify God in the process.”

FCA’s story on Kelly Clark, titled “Purpose Found,” details how the snowboarder burst onto the scene and joined the U.S. Snowboarding Team in 2000 at the age of 16. After graduating from Mount Snow Academy in her hometown of Dover, Vermont, she began winning everything—X Games gold, U.S. Open gold and the overall Grand Prix tour title.

At 18, Clark arrived in Park City, Utah, for the 2002 Olympics as the…

Report: Christian Persecution is Worse Today Than Ever Before

Report: Christian Persecution is Worse Today Than Ever Before

When you think of the worst time in history for Christian persecution, perhaps you think of the Roman Coliseum or the Middle Ages and Reformation when Christians were burned at the stake for translating the Bible into the common language.

There are countless time periods in history when Christians have faced persecution for their faith. Jesus warned that persecution would come (John 15:20). We know this as Christians.

What may surprise you, however, (especially if you are a Christian living in the West), is that a new report has shown that Christian persecution is actually worse today than ever before in history.

According to Relevant Magazine, this report comes from Aid to the Church in Need, a Catholic persecution charity that “provides pastoral and humanitarian assistance to the persecuted Church around the world.”

This increase in Christian persecution is in large part due to terrorist groups like ISIS in the Middle East and Boko Haram in Nigeria. These groups particularly target Christians.

Of the 13 countries where Christian persecution has been most severe, none of them have shown improvement in the past year except Saudi Arabia, where, the report says, “the situation was already so bad, it could scarcely get worse.”

Persecuted Christians from Iran to Indonesia to North Korea often feel forgotten by those in the West, especially because Western governments…

Anne Graham Lotz Gives Health Update on Father Billy Graham Ahead of 100th Birthday

(Photo: Reuters/Robert Padgett)Evangelist Billy Graham speaks at the dedication of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, May 31, 2007.

At nearly 100 years old, famed evangelist Billy Graham has a difficult time hearing, seeing, and moving around — yet his mind is still clear as ever, his daughter Anne Graham Lotz has revealed.

The 69-year-old Lotz, the founder of AnGeL Ministries, gave an update on the health of her legendary father during a devotional delivered at Founder’s Week, a week-long Bible conference on Moody Bible Institute’s Chicago campus.

“I’d be remiss if I didn’t bring you greetings from my father,” she said. “I’m not sure he knows that I’m here. He doesn’t track like he used to, but his mind is still clear.”

“He can’t see; he has a hard time seeing because of macular degeneration,” she continued. “He’s fairly deaf, I have to use a microphone and he wears a headset for me to speak to him. He’s not mobile.”

Despite his physical limitations, Lotz said her father is still “gorgeous” with white hair and blue eyes.

“He’s just gotten quieter,” she said. “It’s as though he’s said everything he wants to say and he’s tired. And so, he listens, very precious, and it’s wonderful to be in his presence.”
