Charity Commission to question televangelist’s ‘flu jab’ video

Gloria Copeland, wife of televangelist Kenneth Copeland, said Jesus has already beaten the flu so Christians shouldn’t be getting it anymore.

In the video she said: “Listen partner, we don’t have a flu season… we’ve already had our shot, he bore our sicknesses and carried our diseases.

“By his stripes we were healed.”

The Charity Commission told The Independent it will question Kenneth Copeland Ministries (KCM) as its Europe ministry is registered charity headquartered in Bath, Somerset. The ministry also published the video on its UK website.

A Charity Commission spokeswoman told The Independent: “Trustees must ensure that their charity only carries out activities within their charitable objectives and must ensure they protect the reputation of their charity.

“The commission will be contacting the Kenneth Copeland Ministries regarding material posted on the charity’s website to determine whether there is a regulatory role for the commission.”

The latest report by Public Health England showed seasonal flu levels remain high but are continuing to stabilise across the UK. So far 215 people have died in the UK this flu season.

Christian Medical Fellowship told Premier Copeland’s advice against getting the flu vaccine is poor and has “no Biblical backing”.

Christian Aid reveals sexual misconduct investigations following Oxfam accusations

It announced on Sunday that one investigation led to the dismissal of a staff member, while the other case resulted in disciplinary action (not dismissal).

The Christian relief agency said in both cases, no laws were broken but “the staff members involved did not live up to the standards and expectations outlined in our code of conduct”.

It said one of the instances was “a case of failings in adequate safeguarding”, which was reported to the Charity Commission.

Christian Aid’s comments come after Oxfam has been accused of covering up the use of prostitutes by aid workers in Haiti in 2011. It is facing mounting criticism over its handling of the allegations of sexual misconduct.

Although the charity has denied covering up the alleged scandal, Christian Aid said the claims are “deplorable”.

“We are saddened by the accounts of deplorable behaviour from a group of individuals who have abused their power, exploited their position, and sought to subvert systems designed to protect vulnerable people in Haiti,” the charity stated.

“Through their unacceptable actions, they have undermined the vital, effective and life-changing work carried out by Oxfam, as well as by other aid and humanitarian organisations worldwide.”

Oxfam said it publicly announced an investigation into the allegations when they surfaced…

Father of tortured Christian student, North Korean defectors share ‘harrowing’ stories with US VP

Fred Warmbier, Hyesook, Hyeon-a, Hyeon-seo, and Ji Seong-ho were invited to South Korea by Mr Pence to share how persecution by North Korea has affected them.

Ji Seong-ho shared with the group how a Bible got her in trouble with the government back in 1998.

She said: “I’m a Christian, and when I was in North Korea, I came across a Bible.

“And because I read the Bible, I was taken by the national security agency, and as a result, I decided to escape North Korea.  Afterwards, I made three more attempts, but every time I was forced to be sent back to North Korea.  I was successful on my fourth attempt.”

She added that during her attempt to escape North Korea, she was trafficked by a human trafficker and got pregnant.

“Because I got pregnant outside of North Korea, when I was repatriated to North Korea, I was forced to abort my baby without any anaesthetics,” she said.

“I spent some time in prison camp.  And it was only 2007; finally, I was able to escape North Korea and was able to come to South Korea.  It took 10 years for me to be able to do so.”

Need for culture change over Church abuse complaints, C of E told

Sir Roger Singleton, member of the national safeguarding team, said the church has done “some useful work” in recent years, but added that “an enormous amount” still needs to be done.

He told the Synod there is a “common theme” running through recent reviews and inquiries, and said: “That is a continuing need for culture change within the church.

“Sir Roger was speaking at a session about safeguarding, where there was a presentation on national developments and on the Church’s preparation for the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

He said: “I am heartened by the positive affirmation which our archbishops, diocesan bishops and deans continue to give to the importance of creating and sustaining a safe church.

“But we need to extend the concept of leadership further if we are to protect children and vulnerable adults adequately.

“It’s the actions of people in parishes and the commitment of parish clergy and parish senior laity which are also critical.”And experience of this, while improving, is still variable.

“I believe a tipping point has been reached where most clergy are informed, supportive of their parish (safeguarding) representatives … and willing to tackle reluctant church wardens or PCCs.

“But ambivalence, even hostility, continues with a minority who appear unable or unwilling to accept the need for sensible, proportionate measures; or who minimise…

Church of England backs motion valuing people with Down’s Syndrome

The General Synod backed a motion calling on the Government to ensure that parents who have been told their unborn child has Down’s Syndrome will be given “comprehensive, unbiased information” regarding the condition.

The motion, moved by Bishop of Carlisle James Newcome, also called for parents to be provided with “full information about the support available and the future prospects of those with this condition, with no implied preference for any outcome”.

Mr Newcome said the debate was not about the ethics of abortion, pointing out that the Church’s position on that issue is clearly stated.

He said: “And although the motion today has partly been prompted by some people’s concern that the abortion rate for those diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome could increase to nearly 100 per cent, the rights and wrongs of abortion itself are not the purpose of our discussion.”

He also said the motion was not an attack on Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) – a test for Down’s Syndrome for expectant mothers.

NIPT is a non-invasive blood test to check for traces of chromosomal syndromes.

Research shows the test could result in a fall in the number of women undergoing invasive testing each year – meaning there could be a reduction in the number of miscarriages related to the invasive diagnostic test.

Mr Newcome said the motion was “definitely not an attempt to tell women what they…

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 11 February 2018 Devotional: Taking Care of Your Body

Topic: Taking Care of Your Body [Joyce Meyer’s Daily Sunday February 11th, 2018]

I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. — John 15:5

Some of us haven’t learned to love our bodies enough to properly care for them. To change that, we must confront the three biggest obstacles to healthy living.

We don’t know how to care for our bodies. Bad diets, misinformation, and fast foods have confused people about what a wholesome diet is and how to eat the right foods in proper amounts.

Our view of body image is skewed by media and advertising. We’re bombarded with unattainable ideals of beauty, while obesity is so prevalent that it’s almost considered normal. We need to rediscover what a healthy person looks like.

Exercise is nearly obsolete. We’ve invented enough conveniences that we often live completely void of exercise. We don’t even walk anywhere if we don’t have to! But the truth is, a good deal of our well-being is dependent on exercising our bodies.

If you struggle with these obstacles, make a decision today that you will not be defeated. God tells us to treat our bodies well, and He will always help us do the things He tells us to do. So make a decision to rely on God’s strength and live a healthier lifestyle.

Prayer Starter: God, I want to honor You by taking care of my body and living a healthy life. I believe that I can make changes through Your power that is at work in me.

DCLM Daily Manna 11 February, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Always There For You

Topic: Always There For You [DCLM Daily Manna Sunday February 11th, 2018]

Text: Luke 7:11-18 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not” (Luke 7:13).

MESSAGE:

Once during Queen Victoria’s reign, she heard that the wife of a common labourer had lost her baby. Having experienced deep sorrow herself, she felt moved to express her sympathy. So she called on the bereaved woman one day and spent some time with her. After she left, the neighbours asked what the queen had said. “Nothing,” replied the grieving mother. “She simply put her hands on mine, and we silently wept together.”

From our passage, Jesus came with His disciples and much people to the city of Nain where He interrupted a funeral by raising the young man back to life. He had identified the mother of the deceased, who was a poor widow, telling her to ‘weep not’. Then, He stopped the procession and commanded the dead man to rise and he came back to life.

The compassion of Jesus was such a great comfort to many in His days. That He could remember a poor widow in the obscure city of Nain, underscores His willingness to identify with the poor and suffering citizens of His nation. He knew just how heartbroken this poor widow was, trying to cope with the double tragedy of losing a husband and an only son. The mourners around her could provide little comfort as their power was limited. They could only weep with her and not be able to help the situation of the bereaved family.

No matter what we are passing through today, we must remember that Christ is never too late. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). He is our Joy, our Comfort and Hiding Place in the day of trouble. Let us trust Him, for He never comes late. His promise never to leave or forsake us is ever true.

Thought For The Day: “...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Bible Reading in a Year: Exodus 36-38.

Flatimes’ Notice Board: Please do not prolong your salvation if you have not repented. Many are going home daily and tomorrow maybe too late.

Our Daily Manna February 11, 2018: ODM devotional — The three “ps” of Joseph!

Topic: The three “ps” of Joseph! [Our Daily Manna ODM Sunday, February 11th, 2018]

Basic scripture: Genesis 37: 5-24

The life of Joseph can be divided under 3 “p’s.” And the Holy Ghost is going to use these 3 “p’s” to bless you in the next few days. The FIRST ‘p’- THE PIT, SECOND ‘P’ – POTIPHAR, THIRD ‘P’ – THE PRISON.

Today’s devotional emphasis is on the first ‘p’: THE EMPTY AND DRY PIT! In today’s scripture, his brothers put him in a PIT but his God Jehovah became his POTTER in that PIT! The PIT signifies humiliation/demotion – digging downwards! It means to be hidden or covered up and forgotten! It means others are blessed but not you! You are unseen and unrecognized.

It means the good things about you are hidden, but your weaknesses are magnified! It is the stagnation bus-stop! The PIT means working for others to eat! The PIT means others are rewarded for your efforts instead of you! Ah! That must end today in Jesus name! Note: The PIT was empty and dry! That speaks of a life of emptiness, dryness, lack, and nothingness! Hear this: the PIT is not your habitation or final bus-stop because whether your enemies like it or not, you are arriving at your promised land this year!

That is why David proclaimed, “ he brought me up also out of a horrible PIT, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings” (Psalm 40:2). Yes, the PIT is horrible! But I prophesy: He that brought David out of his PIT’S experience is bringing you out today! You will move from HORROR STREET to HERO AVENUE this year! Those planning to humiliate you this week and beyond shall go down for your sake!

Every PIT planted to bury and cover your glory and greatness shall catch fire this year in the Jesus name! Oh! Jehovah the GAME CHANGER shall overturn and upturn the ministry of PIT PRODUCERS from your life this year and beyond in Jesus name! I prophesy again: At the upcoming ASABA ANOINTING SERVICE (This Friday, February 16th 6 pm and Saturday 17th 8am), every satanic PIT producing depression in your life/ministry shall catch fire and expire! Their plan to TURN YOU FROM HERO TO ZERO (DEMOTION) will BACKFIRE this weekend and beyond as I lay hands on everyone present in Jesus name! Be there! You will testify! Pray seriously now!

The ASABA SPECIAL ANOINTING SERVICES Is This Friday 16th, 6pm And Saturday 17th, 8am. Theme is: “HERO TO ZERO ARROW: RETURN TO SENDER!” Venue is the CENOTAPH. I shall lay hands on everyone in AGREEMENT PRAYERS to begin the year! Call 08034907299 or 08033461818 for details.

Prayer Points: Take your best worship song to God.

  • Thank God for today’s word and pray as you are led!
  • LORD, I refuse to be HUMILIATED! EVERY SATANIC PIT, catch fire now in Jesus name. I refuse every DEMOTION PLAN concerning 2018.
  • You satanic PIT DIGGERS, I shall not move from HERO to ZERO! Your plan to hide and cover my glory/greatness must scatter by thunder in Jesus name.
  • Pray about the ASABA INTERNATIONAL ANOINTING SERVICE now! Pray about today seriously and any other issue(s) as led.
