Jordan urges Christian US Vice President to ‘rebuild trust’ after Jerusalem move

The call follows the fallout from the Trump administration’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Mr Pence, in turn, tried to reassure the monarch that the Trump administration remains committed to restarting Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts and views Jordan as a central player.

The vice president also said that “the United States of America remains committed, if the parties agree, to a two state solution”.

Such a caveat deviates from long-standing US support for a two-state solution as the only possible outcome of any peace deal.

President Trump’s pivot on Jerusalem last month infuriated the Palestinians, who seek the Israeli-annexed eastern sector of the city as a future capital.

They accused the US of siding with Israel and said Washington can no longer serve as a mediator.

Jerusalem is the emotional centrepiece of the long-running conflict, and President Trump’s policy shift set off protests and condemnation across Arab and Muslim countries.

It posed a dilemma for King Abdullah, who is a staunch US ally, but also derives his political legitimacy in large part from the Hashemite dynasty’s role as guardian of a key Muslim site in Jerusalem.

Any perceived threat to Muslim claims in the city is seen as a challenge to Jordan, where a large segment of the population is of Palestinian…

Firemen rescue bell-ringer tangled 40ft in the air

Firefighters used a rope-rescue system to rescue the 17-year-old church bell-ringer from St Helen’s Church in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

The team lowered him from the bell to the floor on a stretcher before he was taken to hospital after suffering a number of injuries from the ropes.

It is not clear how serious his injuries are.

OXFORDSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE

Station manager Paul Webster told The Sunday Telegraph: “Due to the steepness of the spiral staircase to the bell ringing room, there was not the option to carry the casualty out of the church on a stretcher.”

Church of England set for ‘controversial’ vote on using Methodist ministers

The ‘controversial’ vote is part of plans set to boost struggling rural churches.

The proposals will be reviewed next month at the General Synod, which is the Church’s governing body.

If implemented, officials from each church would be permitted to preach at the other.

“Acceptance of the proposals would be a profound sign of reconciliation, a healing of wounds that go back to the origins of Methodism in the 18th century,” Christopher Cocksworth, the Bishop of Coventry and chair of the Church of England’s faith and order commission, said in a briefing document published on Friday.

“The generosity asked of both churches would speak powerfully of a desire for the flourishing in unity and witness of the whole Church of God, and not first and foremost the entrenchment of our own institutions,” he added.

However, the plans could prove to be decisive as the proposals would mean Methodist clergy who had not been ordained by a bishop would be entitled to hold Church of England services.

William Nye, the Church of England’s most senior civil servant, told The Times bishops felt this was a “bearable anomaly” but others would be “concerned” that the proposal would break the “continuous apostolic succession” that Anglican members believe links their clergy and bishops to the original followers of Jesus Christ.

Cardinal rebukes Pope over Chile ‘slander’ abuse comments

Cardinal Sean O’Malley, the archbishop of Boston, said he could not explain why Francis “chose the particular words he used”.

In an extraordinary effort at damage control, Cardinal O’Malley insisted that Francis “fully recognises the egregious failures of the church and its clergy who abused children and the devastating impact those crimes have had on survivors and their loved ones”.

Francis sparked national uproar upon leaving Chile on Thursday  by accusing victims of the country’s most notorious paedophile priest of having slandered another bishop, Juan Barros.

The victims say Bishop Barros knew about the abuse but did nothing to stop it – a charge which the bishop denies.

“The day they bring me proof against Bishop Barros, I’ll speak,” Francis told Chilean journalists in the northern city of Iquique.

“There is not one shred of proof against him. It’s all calumny. Is that clear?”

The remarks shocked Chileans, drew immediate rebuke from victims and their advocates and once again raised questions over the 81-year-old Argentine Jesuit’s stance on the issue.

The scandal over the crimes of the Rev Fernando Karadima has devastated the credibility of the Roman Catholic Church in Chile, and Francis’ comments will likely haunt it for the foreseeable future.

Cardinal O’Malley’s carefully-worded critique was remarkable since it is rare for a cardinal to publicly rebuke…

DCLM Daily Manna 21 January, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – A Day Like A Thousand Years

Topic: A Day Like A Thousand Years [DCLM Daily Manna Sunday January 21st, 2018]

Text: Luke 4:33-44

Key Verse: “And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.” (Luke 4:42).

Moses’ and Apostle Peter’s statement that one thousand years in God’s sight is as momentary as a day (Psalm 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8) could hardly be understand by the finite mind. For how can a man who would not live up to one thousand years in his mortal state appreciate what a millennium is? Examining a typical day in the life of our Lord, Jesus Christ, during His earthly ministry would aid us to grasp, as it were, the concept of a thousand years as a day.

Our Lord was always on the move, from one point to another, ministering to the needs of the people. In only twelve verses, He is seen teaching, preaching, healing and delivering the tormented. In that sense, our limited sense of comprehension would be able to capture the enormity of the earthly work of Messiah: he packs a thousand and one activities unto one day. The Lord wants us to work tirelessly as He did, taking maximum advantage of the twenty-four hours God has given to us.

We have the Holy Spirit to empower and teach us as we preach to the sinners. God has also provided us with massive Christian literature along with electronic materials. Above all, we are armed with the Holy Bible. When we have, by the grace of God, done our part of the work – soul-winning, visitation and follow-up – we should not rest on our oars. Like Jesus, we must declare: (I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent” (verse 43). This way, we shall be heeding the commandment: “Occupy till I come”.

Thought For The Day: Soul-winning is the duty no true believer retires from.

Seeds of Destiny 21 January 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Made By Wisdom

Seeds of Destiny 21 January 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Made By Wisdom

Topic: Made By Wisdom [Seeds of Destiny Sunday January 21st, 2018]

Scripture: And Pharaoh said unto his servants, can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art. Genesis 41:38-39.

Thought For The Day: Kingdom stars are wisdom-made.

The scriptures make it clear that Kingdom stars or outstanding personalities in the Bible were made by wisdom. Stars in the kingdom of God like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Nehemiah, Daniel, Esther, etc., were made by wisdom as a result of their personal walk with the God of wisdom. This implies that there is a connection between stardom and wisdom in the kingdom; kingdom stars are wisdom-made. This means that kingdom stars are made by the wisdom of God.

Therefore, in order to learn and operate in the wisdom of God, it is necessary to observe the lives of men who walked with God and operated in Divine wisdom.

From our anchor scripture, we understand that Joseph was the wisest man in his generation; his wisdom defeated the wisdom of all the magicians of Egypt. Pharaoh could not find anyone as wise and as discrete as Joseph because the Spirit of wisdom was upon him. The wisdom of God in him enabled him to interpret the dreams of Pharaoh and gave solutions to the famine that was to ravage the whole land of Egypt. He became the Vice President of the nation of Egypt due to the operation of the spirit of Divine wisdom in his life.

Joseph rose to the throne by wisdom. He did great exploits in the land of Egypt and became a reference point by the manifestation of the Spirit of wisdom in his life. That is why we need to learn God’s wisdom from the life of Kingdom stars like Joseph.

Remember This: Kingdom stars are wisdom-made.

Assignments:

1. Study the life of Joseph diligently in order to learn God’s wisdom in his life.

2. Apply the principles of divine wisdom from the life of Joseph.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for the impartation of Your wisdom in my life. Help me Lord, to stand out in my generation by the operation of wisdom.

Our Daily Bread 21 January 2018 Devotional – Promises, Promises

Our Daily Bread 21 January 2018 Devotional – Promises, Promises

Topic: Promises, Promises [Our Daily Bread 21st Sunday January, 2018]

Read: 2 Peter 1:1–9, Bible in a Year: Exodus 1–3; Matthew 14:1–21

He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature. 2 Peter 1:4

My youngest daughter and I have a game we call “Pinchers.” When she goes up the stairs, I’ll chase her and try to give her a little pinch. The rules are that I can only pinch her (gently, of course!) when she’s on the stairs. Once she’s at the top, she’s safe. Sometimes, though, she’s not in the mood to play. And if I follow her up the stairs, she’ll sternly say, “No pinchers!” I’ll respond, “No pinchers. I promise.”

Now, that promise may seem a little thing. But when I do what I say, my daughter begins to understand something of my character. She experiences my consistency. She knows my word is good, that she can trust me. It’s a little thing, keeping such a promise. But promises—or, keeping them, I should say—are the glue of relationships. They lay a foundation of love and trust.

I think that’s what Peter meant when he wrote that God’s promises enable us to “participate in the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4). When we take God at His Word, trusting what He says about Himself and about us, we encounter His heart toward us. It gives Him an opportunity to reveal His faithfulness as we rest in what He says is true. I’m thankful Scripture brims with His promises, these concrete reminders that “his compassions never fail. They are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22–23).

Prayer: Lord, thank You so much for Your “great and precious promises.” Help us to recognize and to rest in what You say is true, that we might fully experience Your tender goodness.

God’s Word to us reveals His heart toward us.

Insight:

By the time we get to Peter’s writings in the New Testament, God’s reputation as a “promise-keeper” is well established. Early we see that the God of the Bible makes promises that match His role as the sovereign, Almighty God. And He delivers what He promises. The roots of this “promise-making,” “promise-keeping” attribute are deep in the soil of Genesis. When the patriarch Abraham was called to relocate to a place he had never seen, he went. Along with words that instructed him to leave what was familiar came promises that the Lord would make of him a great nation, give him a great name, and bless the nations of the world through his offspring (see 12:1–3). That offspring was Christ (see Galatians 3:16; Hebrews 6:11–20) and the promise remains good today for all who embrace Him.

How does knowing God keeps His promises encourage you in your season of life? – Arthur Jackson

Welcome to this devotional encounter with he that is called “The Bishop our souls” and your STRONG TOWER! Look at what He has done: Dear Dr. Chris, I am Ruby from Lagos. I was feeling some pain in the side of my abdomen for a while. One of my siblings said it could be fibroid and that really scared me, but I immediately rejected it! I then went to my room and used the Agreement prayer page of the war against Haman 12 booklet and also placed it on where the pain was coming from and to the glory of God, the pain disappeared and never returned again; it was an instant miracle!

I pray that God will continue to move you and the ministry forward in Jesus name! I thank God for using you to touch many lives positively (from Ruby, +2347062977772). Wonderful Jesus! The Agreement prayer was a vision I got from the lord many years ago and millions have been blessed worldwide through it. I may not be able to get to your house, church, village or city, but THE ANOINTING HAS NO BOUNDARY because of Matthew 18:19. “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by my father which is in heaven.” I can agree with you wherever you are on the surface of the earth.

TODAY IS OUR WORLD AGREEMENT DAY IN THIS FASTING PROGRAM. Go to page 55 of the war against Haman 13 and agree with me by faith. There shall be testimonies and decorations in Jesus name! Those that hate you shall run mad! You shall break forth to the right and to the left! A NEW LABEL shall come upon you for good! You shall eat the riches of the gentiles! Rise and fall syndrome will scatter! Your shame shall turn to double fame! The healing that will shock the world will manifest in you! Every waster shall be waste this year concerning you! The testimony of, “can this be true?” shall come from your life/ministry!

The lord shall remember you especially from this day and EVERY EVIL HAND WILL WITHER as you agree with me! Disappointment will become divine appointments! Stagnation will dry up! Your marital settlement will shock the world! Where you heard NO last year, you shall hear YES this year!

This is your year of “YES” because the sun and moon shall work to FAVOUR you by the anointing in Jesus name! Lift up your hands and begin to worship the lord as you come to tafawa Balewa square, Lagos for the CHANGE OF GARMENT AND DECORATION NIGHT. Sow your CHANGE OF GARMENT seed, then come with a dress you can afford to tear that night apart from the one you are wearing to the program. This is your year! Amen!

TREM’s Daily 21 January 2018 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – How To Unlock Closed Doors

TREM’s Daily 21 January 2018 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - How To Unlock Closed Doors

Topic: How To Unlock Closed Doors [TREM’s Daily Sunday January 21st, 2018]

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine Hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested” (1 Chronicles 4:10 KJV)

In 1 Chronicles 4, the Bible tells us an interesting story about a man called Jabez who was described as honourable. In-spite of his honour, his problem started when his mother bore him and gave him a name which literarily means ‘sorrow’. Beloved, Jabez understood what it meant to encounter closed doors in life. He was rejected by men, even though he had no hand in the circumstances of his birth. I perceive that his situation was so bad that everywhere he went, he became a laughing stock. It was at this point he sought the face of God.

Beloved, worthy of note is the fact that Jabez desired God’s intervention in his life. He desired the doors that were closed against him to be unlocked and that desire drove him to his knees. He desired a supernatural intervention. He had expectations of a better life. He needed a fresh start – a new beginning. He was tired of the status-quo and so he cried to the Lord. Just like Jabez, I encourage you to develop the habit of seeking His face in prayers, especially when things are difficult. If God could intervene in the life of Jabez who was labelled ‘sorrow’, much more will He do for you!

I encourage you to give more time to prayer. Sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from Him. Don’t just talk to God in prayer, listen to Him too. Receive instruction from His mouth and the things He will tell you will unlock the doors of your miracles. Every request you bring before Him will receive His attention. See Him intervening in that long-standing health condition. Don’t look at the symptoms, look at the healing. See Him intervening in your job, business, finances, academics and marriage.  Let me assure you that God heard you ever before you began to pray and He is already throwing His weight around on your behalf.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily January 21, 2018 Devotional: Heaven’s Economy

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily January 21, 2018 Devotional: Heaven's Economy

Topic: Heaven’s Economy [Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Sunday January 21st, 2018]

Giving thanks unto the Father…who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. – Colossians 1:12-13

If, in spite of all the Bible’s promises about prosperity…in spite of all the prayers you’ve prayed…you are still struggling financially, consider this question: Where do you think God is going to get the resources to meet your needs?

Many believers limit God without even realizing it by training their eyes on the limited resources of this world rather than the unlimited riches of God’s kingdom. Their faith fails when they think of the troubled economy on the earth, of the shortages and scarcity that surround them. They wonder, How is God going to bless me in the middle of all this?

If that’s what you’ve been thinking, here’s some news that will turn those thoughts around!

The Bible says God has “delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” To be translated means “to be taken out of one place and put into another.” In other words, your citizenship is not primarily of this earth. You are not primarily American or Canadian or Australian—you are first and foremost a citizen of the kingdom of God.

That means this planet doesn’t have any right to dictate to you whether your needs are met or not. The Bible says God will meet your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19)! You can live by heaven’s economy, not earth’s economy—and in heaven there is always more than enough.

Wake up to the abundance of heaven that’s been made yours through Jesus. Wake up to the fact that you’ve been translated out of a world of poverty into a kingdom of abundance. Rejoice. Heaven’s unlimited resources have been made available to you!
