Why Your Church Needs to Use Video More in 2018

By Jonathan P. Howe

For the past few years, podcasts have been the hot new medium on the Internet. And while they are still growing in number and in popularity, a relatively more traditional medium has recently experienced a comeback of sorts on the Internet. That medium is video.

Online video has exploded over the past few years with the switch from chronological social media timelines to algorithmic ones. This impacts your church as well. If you’re still posting text only updates about what’s going on in your church—on either Facebook or Twitter—your updates are likely being suppressed and are not reaching much of your audience. Video can help fix that. Video can increase the exposure of your church’s ministry now more than ever. Here are five reasons why:

  1. Video captures attention longer. The main reason social media sites are promoting more and more video to users is because it keeps users on the site or in the app longer. Want to capture the attention of your members or of potential guests? Use video updates.
  2. Video is cheaper and easier to make than ever before. Online video for your church has never been easier. A smartphone is really all you need to produce a quick and simple video update or announcement. Add a tripod, an inexpensive microphone, and a well-lit area, and your video will border on professional level quality.
  3. People often remember video more than text. Want to drive home a point to your church members? Use video to do it. We live in a visual society. Many of your…

The Bible has not failed me yet

The 36-year-old, who has spoken previously about the difference faith has made in her life, said she has been reading the scriptures since she was a child.

Asked during an interview with the Guardian which one book changed her life, Hudson replied: “The Bible; I’ve been reading it since I was little and it hasn’t failed me yet.”

The Chicago-born performer has previously explained about how her relationship with God helped her come to terms with the murder of her mother, brother and nephew during a brutal gun attack in 2008.

She was quoted by the Guardian in 2014 as saying: “It [my faith] was the ultimate help to me.

“We always said, ‘if He brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

“There would be no point in faith if it wasn’t tested.

“My mother always told me no matter how negative your life seems to be, you must always look for a positive; that is what I believe a woman of faith should do.”

Jennifer Hudson, who used to perform with a church choir, is due to appear later this month as a judge on the popular ITV programme, The Voice UK.

DCLM Daily Manna 10 January, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – The Principal Thing

Topic: The Principal Thing [DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday January 10th, 2018]

Text: Proverbs 3:13-26

Key Verse: “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” (Proverbs 3:13).

King Solomon made the right choice when he asked God for wisdom to rule instead of asking for riches, power or victory over his enemies. Little did he know at that time that he actually asked for the key to all other blessings.

Many in his shoes would have done otherwise. He adjudged the greatest king that ever lived going by the depth of his wisdom, riches and the extent of his kingdom.

Writing from his experience by divine inspiration, Solomon reveals in today’s passage that truly, wisdom has all that mankind really seeks. The value of wisdom is far more than riches and gold or any other material possession. Wisdom comes with long life, wealth, riches, health, honour, real pleasure and true happiness; hence, the admonition to seek wisdom and value it above every other thing. Foolishness in man is revealed in the way he leaves substance to run after shadows. He thinks that by getting wealth and riches, he will have peace, be happy and free from worry anxiety. But this has not been the case.

This is why wisdom becomes the principal thing to seek after. How then does one get this wisdom? Like King Solomon, we must ask from God. It starts with getting your life right with Him. This means that you must enter into relationship with Him through repentance and faith in Christ’s sacrifice. Then, be schooled in the Scriptures as the Bible is the treasure book of wisdom.

If you want to have this great wisdom, you must make it a habit to thoughtfully read and meditate on the word of God daily. You also need to live, walk and be guided by the Spirit of Wisdom.

Thought For The Day: You have all if you have Jesus, the Wisdom of God!

Bible Reading in one Year: Job 24-28
