Text: Hebrews 11:32-40

Key Verse: “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions” (Hebrews 11:32,33).

When Hudson Taylor went to China, he made the voyage on a sailing vessel. As it neared the channel between the southern Malay Peninsula and the island of Sumatra, the missionary heard an urgent knock on his stateroom door. As he opened it, there stood the captain of the ship.

“Mr. Taylor,” he said, “we have no wind. We are drifting toward an island where the people are heathen, and I fear they are cannibals.” “What can I do?” asked Taylor. “I understand that you believe in God. I want you to pray for wind.” “All right, Captain, I will, but you must set the sail.” “Why?” “That’s ridiculous!

There’s not even the slightest breeze. Besides, the sailors will think I’m crazy.” But finally, because of Taylor’s insistence, he agreed. Forty-five minutes later, he returned and found the missionary still on his knees.

“You can stop praying now,” said the captain. “We’ve got more wind than we know what to do with!”

The Bible passage contains acts of faith by patriarchs, judges and King David also who defeated well-equipped heathen armies in battle. Natural laws were suspended through demonstration of faith and these faith-filled heroes overcame difficult situations in life and became valiant in fight.

They paid a tremendous price for what they believed in. They were men and women who would not accept deliverance or any other blessing on the condition that they deny their faith but held on till they died for the truth they held so dear.

We must recognise that great things can only happen when we put our faith to work during challenges and trials. As we approach the very end of the end-time, it’s not only the love of many that are waxing cold but their faith also are nosediving.

In order not to falter or fall, our faith must be focused only on God such that no matter the circumstances that arise, we are able to hold firm till the end.

Thought for the day: Tests and tempests are often the forerunners of testimonies.

Tesla Battery Slashed Australian Family’s Power Bill By More Than Half

REUTERS/James Glover IIElon Musk speaks during a media tour of the Tesla Gigafactory, which will produce batteries for the electric carmaker, in Sparks, Nevada, July 26, 2016.

An Australian family couldn’t be happier about their decision to let Tesla into their home after the company’s battery technology slashed their power bill by more than half. Theirs is just one of the many success stories the company has had ever since Elon Musk made it its mission to help Australia with their energy woes.

Chris Hankin and his family have been enjoying the company’s power-saving technologies for over a year ever since they moved to their new home in Thurgoona, New South Wales. Built across the street from their old home, the house was equipped with $10,000 Powerwall battery and $6000 worth of LG solar panels from Tesla.

Within just months, the family immediately saw results. Back when they were still living in their old home, their power bill peaked at $600 a quarter. After moving, however, this was slashed to $200, a 60 percent reduction.

“Our average daily usage from the actual grid is about one kilowat – for a standard house it’s usually 12 to 16 – and through our solar panels we are producing 30 kWh on average for this time of year,” said Hankin. “The only time we need any electricity is when the battery runs empty during the night.”

Not only are Hankin and his family reducing their energy consumption, they also received credits that were used to purchase future market electricity. He estimates that thanks to these savings and credits, his $16,000 investment would pay for itself within the…

Ripple XRP Beat Bitcoin As Best-Performing Cryptocurrency Of 2017

Reuters/Lucas JacksonA man explains how a digital currency mining operation works while pointing at the necessary hardware during the Inside Bitcoins: The Future of Virtual Currency Conference in New York.

Bitcoin-mania is running mild baby, because despite being the talk of the town when it came to cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin wasn’t the best performing digital currency for 2017. In fact, its 1,000 percent rise wasn’t even enough to put it among the 10 best-performing cryptoassets of 2017.

In a year where fortunes were made and lost in the cryptocurrency trading, Ripple took the title for best performing digital currency thanks to XRP’s meteoric rise in value. The currency gained 36,018 percent last year compared to just 1,318 gained by Bitcoin.

The currency’s rise has potentially catapulted its creator, Chris Larsen, high up in the list of the world’s richest people. Larsen, who currently owns 5.19 billion XRP coins, could very well be sitting on a $12.82 billion fortune.

XRP was created by Larsen and Ripple to enable “secure, instantly and nearly free global financial transactions of any size with no chargebacks.” XRP is now the second-most valuable crypto-coin by market capitalisation and has a number of potential advantages over Bitcoin which is currently the largest.

For one, Ripple’s technology allows for a much faster transfer meaning that it has the potential to scale much larger. In contrast, Bitcoin has experienced transaction-related problems thanks to its popularity with many transactions taking over an hour to process. The strain on the network also jacked up transaction costs…
