A succession of three supermoons will be visible in the night sky. This special astronomical event began last Sunday and will end with a super Blue Blood Moon on January 31, according to ..


Supermoons occur when the moon is closer to the earth in its rotation, making it appear bigger than usual. The moon will appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter. The moon appears blue due to Earth’s dark shadow.


These unique astronomical occurrences have some religious leaders speculating that they could be prophetic signs.


Rabbi Rabbi Yosef Berger, the rabbi of King David’s Tomb on Mount Zion, believes the supermoons, ending with the Blue Blood Moon has special significance in light of current world events having to do with Israel.


Recently, President Trump announced that the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and that the U.S. would move its Israeli Embassy there.


“The Talmud states that Israel is judged by our actions, by our commitment to Hashem (God), and not by astrological signs,” Rabbi Berger told Breaking Israel News. “In fact, the Talmud states that a lunar eclipse is a bad sign for those who hate Israel.”

So far 17.7 million chapters have been read, 39 million Bile plans completed, 120 million verse images created and 222 million verses shared.

This is the Bible verse that was shared, bookmarked, and highlighted most often by the global Bible App community during 2017 is Joshua 1:9 “This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The Bible App offers Bible text in 1,635 versions, representing 1,171 languages.

Use of the app has grown the most in Angola with a 733 per cent increase.

New Christian campaign asks us to not forget about homeless children

The organisation said child homelessness this year has reached a ten year high, “with an astounding number of children living on the streets or in temporary accommodation”.

The charity, which works with marginalised young people, has launched an appeal to help those in need this Christmas.

Many of the young people Nicodemus is currently supporting were once homeless at Christmas and know first-hand the desperate challenges so many kids will face this year.

The charity’s Becky Welford told Premier: “A lot of them spend Christmas Eve getting drunk and not wanting to wake up the next day.

“They spend their Christmas in their beds trying to forget there’s a lot of people in the world smiling, surrounded by people, and a lot of them are just lonely.”

“Please don’t forget about me this Christmas” is Nicodemus’ appeal to give youngsters a Christmas they can remember.

The charity will invite marginalised young people to come together in a loving atmosphere and enjoy a meal this Christmas.

“It will be an atmosphere to put up a Christmas tree, to sit around a table with people.

“That’s a really significant thing; a lot of them throughout the year don’t even sit at a table with other people.

“It’s allowing them to help with the cooking, help with the clearing up and play games together.”

Congratulations–you survived the longest night of the year. (Unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere; more on that in a moment.)

The planet you inhabit tilts on its axis at a 23.44-degree angle. When the Northern Hemisphere tilts toward the sun, we get summer. When it tilts away, we get winter. When earth tilts as far from the sun as possible, which happened yesterday, the sun sets earlier than it does all year and we have the annual Winter Solstice. The Southern Hemisphere experiences precisely the opposite phenomena.

Our meteorological experience relates directly to Christmas, but in an indirect way.

When was Jesus born?

It is unlikely that Jesus was born on December 25. Shepherds were “out in the field, keeping watch over the flocks by night” when the angels announced the Messiah’s birth to them (Luke 2:8). In the cold month of December, their sheep would have been corralled around a fire. Luke’s reference points to the spring lambing season as the more likely time of Jesus’ birth.

Why, then, do we celebrate Christmas on December 25?

One explanation relates to pagan celebrations. The Romans held their mid-winter Saturnalia festival in late December, a Mardi Gras-like party marked by immorality. In AD 274, the Roman emperor Aurelian established the feast of the birth of Sol Invictus (the Unconquered Sun) on December 25, coinciding with the winter solstice. In response, Christians located the birth of God’s Son on that day as a way of inviting pagans to his worship.

However, many scholars dispute this explanation. A second theory is related to Jesus’ death at Passover, which some early Christians dated as March 25. They theorized that Jesus was conceived and crucified on the same day. Therefore, he would have been born nine months after March 25, on December 25.

While no one is certain of the date Jesus was born, it seems entirely appropriate that we celebrate the birth of God’s Son near the time when we most need the sun. Our…
