Canada Rejects Christian Couple for Adoption

A married Canadian couple is suing the Alberta government after being rejected for adoption because of their Christian beliefs. The lawsuit, filed earlier this month, alleges the province denied their application for adoption because of their religious beliefs on sexuality and gender.

In October 2016, the couple—known only by their initials in court documents—applied to adopt with Alberta’s Child and Family Services. They had struggled with infertility and were interested in adopting a hard-to-place older child or sibling group. Their case was assigned to Catholic Social Services in Edmonton, Alberta, which completed psychological and financial evaluations and prepared a home study report.

During the home study, the social worker who managed their case asked them about their beliefs regarding homosexuality. The couple said they held Biblical views on marriage and sexuality but would unconditionally love and respect a child questioning his or her sexuality or gender. The social worker noted their answers in her report and otherwise enthusiastically recommended to Child and Family Services the applicants be approved for adoption.

But in March, Catholic Social Services told the couple that Child and Family Services had additional questions for them about homosexuality based on their answers during the home study.

“Biblical principles are the foundation of our home,” wrote the couple in…

U.S. Government Pays for Sex Change for Transgender Military Member

U.S. Government Pays for Sex Change for Transgender Military Member

The Pentagon paid for a sex change surgery for a transgender military member last week.

The head of the Defense Health Agency signed a waiver for the surgery on Nov. 13, and it took place on Nov. 14, according to Defense Department spokeswoman Dana White. She said the surgery was approved because the service member had already begun a “sex-reassignment course of treatment,” and so the surgery was deemed medically necessary. The surgery was done in a private hospital and paid for by the military’s health coverage.

The announcement came weeks after a federal judge in Washington halted a ban signed in August by President Donald Trump on transgender people enlisting in the military. At the time, Trump also directed Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to stop taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries except in cases where it was necessary to protect the health of an individual who had already begun treatment. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, who issued the preliminary injunction in October, said she did not have jurisdiction to rule on the issue of taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries because the plaintiffs did not establish they would be impacted by that prohibition.

Eight transgender individuals, both active-duty military members and military academy students, sued the administration in August. Their suit is still pending, though Kollar-Kotelly said in her decision that…

A Texas county’s sheriff hosted a security summit at a megachurch to educate churchgoers following the recent mass shooting at a rural church.

Nearly 1,000 people representing more than 170 congregations attended the Sunday summit, which was overseen by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and held at Celebration Church in Georgetown.

Patricia Gutierrez, spokesperson with Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody’s Office, told The Christian Post that the summit came in response to the mass shooting at Sutherland Springs.

“After the tragic mass shooting in Sutherland Springs we felt the need to educate churches and people on how to protect themselves,” explained Gutierrez.

Celebration Church is in our county and it is a large church. Pastor Joe Champion did not hesitate to allow us to use his facilities.”

Moms Everywhere are Hardwired to Respond to Their Baby’s Cries

Moms Everywhere are Hardwired to Respond to Their Baby’s Cries

Researchers have discovered why babies’ cries affect their mothers differently than everyone else, including their fathers: Moms’ brains are hardwired to respond to their infants’ wails in certain ways. The sound of a baby crying activates areas in the mother’s brain that motivate her to move and to speak, researchers with the National Institutes of Health found. And, the scientists discovered, all mothers respond the same way regardless of culture.

The researchers studied 684 mothers from 11 countries. First they observed new mothers interacting with their 5-month-old babies in their homes for one hour. An analysis of the mothers’ responses showed that across cultures the women picked up their crying infants and talked to them far more often than they attempted to distract, feed, diaper, or show affection like kissing the child.

Then the scientists conducted MRI studies of another group of multicultural women, both new and experienced mothers, and found that an infant’s cries activated the same areas in all mothers’ brains. The researchers also found that the brains of women who are not mothers respond differently to the sounds of a crying baby. The study builds on former research that shows fathers’ neurological responses to their crying infants also differ from those of the mother.

Former NFL Chaplain Warns of Overt Demonic Activity but Doesn’t Believe Demons Can Possess People

(Photo: Antioch Bible Church, Amazon)Dr. Karl Payne, pastor of leadership development and discipleship at Antioch Bible Church in Washington and the cover art for his latest book, Spiritual Warfare: Christians, Demonization and Deliverance.

Dr. Karl Payne, pastor of Leadership Development and Discipleship at Antioch Bible Church in Washington who formerly served as chaplain for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, has warned that America’s current cultural climate is paving the way for overt demonic activity. But he doesn’t believe demons can possess humans.

Payne’s 2016 book Spiritual Warfare: Christians, Demonization, and Deliverance was recently made available as an audio book and reflects his more than 25 years of experience dealing with demonized people.

“He holds that demons cannot possess anyone, believer or non-believer, in the sense of owning them. Rather demonization refers to an internal type of control to a greater or lesser degree and various manifestations,” writes Fred Dickason, professor Emeritus of Theology at Moody Bible Institute, in the foreword of the book.

“Payne’s analogies and illustrations are quite clarifying, and his case studies throw a great deal of light on the reality of spiritual warfare and the benefits of challenging wicked spirits who prey upon…

    Open Heavens 21 November 2017: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Look to Jesus and See Heaven

    Open Heavens 21 November 2017: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Look to Jesus and See Heaven

    Topic: Look to Jesus and See Heaven — Tuesday 21, November 2017.

    Memorise: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. – Psalm 121:1

    Read: Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)

    1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

    2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

    Bible in One Year: Psalm 28-33, Jonah 1, Hymn: Sing Hymn 11 – I Have Decided To Follow Jesus

    MESSAGE:

    Looking at Jesus with the eyes of the spirit is so important to believers because it helps us to see ourselves more clearly. When you see Jesus and you take a look at yourself, it makes you to see yourself the way God sees you, and consequently, it propels you to make necessary adjustments. Also, you need to see Jesus so that you can access your help. In Psalm 121:1-2, David said he would lift up his eyes to the hills where his help comes from. When you lift up your eyes to heaven, you will behold Jesus. If only you can see Jesus, distractions will fade into oblivion. Many of us are separated from our Source because instead of looking up, we are looking sideways: we are looking for help from our neighbours, colleagues and fellow men. These people are quite limited in the level of help they can render, no matter how highly placed, financially endowed or intellectually sound they may be. Making man your source brings limitation into your life. Even within your family, do you know that it is wrong to focus on your father or mother as your source? The right approach is to view God as your source of help, and to see every other person as a conduct pipe through whom God can channel His help. The right attitude to have in every home is to always channel the family request to God, and thereafter, allow God to channel His provision through whatever means He wants. Henceforth, get your family to focus on Jesus as the Provider, and He will never disappoint you.

    Open Heavens 22 November 2017: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Seeking Pre-Eminence?

    Moreover, focusing our gaze on Jesus is a sure path that leads to Heaven. Hence, today’s Bible reading says that we should look towards Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Jesus Christ is the One who began the Christian faith and He is the One who completes it. He walked the earth and successfully ended in Heaven. If you focus your gaze on Him, you will be able to follow in His steps. If you follow His steps, what He did you will do, and where He ended you will end. The shocking news here is that we really do not have any alternative to doing this. If you do not look to Jesus, you will not see His steps, and hence, you will end up following the wrong path. This will result in you not ending your journey where Jesus ended His. May this not be your story in Jesus’ Name. While here on earth, focus your gaze on Jesus, and you will be able to see Him in Heaven.

    Action Point: Focus your gaze on Jesus by always asking yourself this question: What would Jesus do if He were in my shoes?

    Hymn 11: I Have Decided To Follow Jesus

    1. I have decided to follow Jesus;
    I have decided to follow Jesus;
    I have decided to follow Jesus;
    No turning back, no turning back.

    2. The world behind me, the cross before me;
    The world behind me, the cross before me;
    The world behind me, the cross before me;
    No turning back, no turning back.

    3. Though none go with me, still I will follow;
    Though none go with me, still I will follow;
    Though none go with me, still I will follow;
    No turning back, no turning back.

    4. My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
    My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
    My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
    No turning back, no turning back.

    5. Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
    Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
    Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
    No turning back, no turning back.
