Joyce Meyer's Daily 16 November 2017 Devotional: Living Free from Debt

Topic: Living Free from Debt [Thursday November 16, 2017]

Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one’s fellowmen, meeting all its requirements]. — Romans 13:8

It’s important for us to understand that the battle for our finances is really a spiritual battle. The enemy tempts us to spend more than we are able to pay off so he can keep us under pressure and distracted from our walk with God.

But we need to have a goal to enjoy the life that Jesus died to give us—a life of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. We can’t do that if we are under pressure and frustrated by financial debt.

It’s possible to live debt free by using biblical principles for managing money. My husband, Dave, says that if we learn to live within our borders, or our income, then God will bless us, our borders will be stretched, and we’ll have more. Luke 19:17 tells us that God is pleased when we are faithful and trustworthy in little things. When we are, it says He will give us authority over bigger things.

So don’t fall into the trap of trying to live “bigger” than what God’s entrusted you with. Stay out of debt by living within your boundaries…then watch God expand them.

Prayer Starter: God, I want to win the spiritual battle over my finances, so I refuse to live in debt. I will not give in to temptation to spend what I don’t have. Instead, I will be faithful with the boundaries that You have given me.

Christ painting by Leonardo da Vinci sells for record 450 million dollars

The painting, called Salvator Mundi, Italian for Savior of the World, is one of fewer than 20 paintings by Leonardo known to exist and the only one in private hands. It was sold by Christie’s auction house, which did not immediately identify the buyer.

The highest price ever paid for a work of art at auction had been 179.4 million US dollars (£136 million), for Pablo Picasso’s painting Women of Algiers (Version O) in May 2015, also at Christie’s in New York.

The highest known sale price for any artwork had been 300 million US dollars (£227 million), for Willem de Kooning’s painting Interchange, sold privately in September 2015 by the David Geffen Foundation to hedge fund manager Kenneth C Griffin.

A backer of the Salvator Mundi auction had guaranteed a bid of at least 100 million dollars (£75 million), the opening bid of the auction, which ran for 19 minutes. The price hit 300 million US dollars about halfway through the bidding.

The 26-inch-tall Leonardo painting dates from around 1500 and shows Christ dressed in Renaissance-style robes, his right hand raised in blessing as his left hand holds a crystal sphere.

Its path from Leonardo’s workshop to the auction block at Christie’s was not smooth. Once owned by King Charles I of England, it disappeared from view until 1900, when it resurfaced and was acquired by a British collector. At that time it was…

Teen Depression Linked to Excessive Screen Time, Study Shows

A new study shows that depression and suicide-related behavior in teens might be linked to increased time spent in front of computers, cell phones, tablets, and the like.

Published in “Clinical Psychological Science,” the recent study suggests that increased screen time might be linked to the spike in mental health issues in teens between 2010 and 2015, particularly girls.

Led by Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University, SDSU graduate student Gabrielle Martin and colleagues Thomas Joiner and Megan Rogers from Florida State University examined datasheets from over 500,000 U.S. teens. They also went through suicide statistics recorded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The researchers found that teens who indicated an excessive daily use of electronic devices were more likely to report symptoms of severe depression. They discovered that suicide rates for girls ages 13 to 18 increased by 65 percent between 2010 and 2015. They also noted a 12 percent increase in suicide-related behavior among teenage girls, which includes thoughts about suicide, planning suicide, and actually attempting it. Additionally, they observed a 58 percent increase in reported cases of severe depression among these young girls.

Effects were more noticeable on girls than with boys, who have also seen an escalating rate of suicide and depression.

Through an analysis of the statistical correlation between mental health issues and screen-time,…

Four Kinds of Leaders Who Will Not Successfully Lead a Church Revitalization

SUBSCRIBE TODAY: iTunes • RSS • Stitcher • TuneIn Radio • Google Play

Leadership is critical to successful revitalization. Today we discuss what kind of leaders often fail in the task.

Today’s Listener Question:

FROM CHARLES

I read a lot about the types of pastors who should lead church revitalization, but what kinds of pastors *shouldn’t* try to lead revitalization?

Episode Highlights:

  • Fearful leaders are most often those who have been hurt in the past.
  • Social media has amplified criticism of pastors and leaders.
  • Many times, fearful leaders are not prayerful leaders.
  • A lot of church leaders are in denial about the health of their church and don’t want to know the truth.
  • Some church leaders are leading well…for 1985.
  • If all you’re doing is maintaining status quo, then you’re falling behind.
  • Coasting is not an option for leaders.

The four types of leaders who should not lead revitalization are:

  1. Fearful leaders
  2. Leaders in denial
  3. Comfortable leaders
  4. Coasting leaders

Resources mentioned in this episode include:

Revitalize & Replant is sponsored by the North American Mission Board and ChurchReplanters.com. More than 10% of churches in North America are at risk of closing and the North American Mission Board is committed to reversing this trend by decreasing the death rate of existing churches while simultaneously increasing the birth rate of new churches. Thousands pack Texas church for funeral of family killed in shooting

Families of the victims accompanied black and white hearses in limousines as fire marshals and sheriff’s deputies shepherded hundreds more – some in funeral attire, others in everyday clothes – to the service in Floresville, Texas, about 12 miles from the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where the shooting occurred.

Church member John Holcombe, among the massacre’s few survivors, invited the public to attend the funeral of his pregnant wife, Crystal, 36, and three of her children, Greg, 13, Emily, 11, and Megan, nine; his parents, 60-year-old Bryan and Karla Holcombe, 58; a brother, 36-year-old Marc Holcombe, and Marc’s 18-month-old daughter, Noah.

They will be buried privately on an unspecified date.

News reporters were barred from entering the event centre and were being held in a pen with two trucks obscuring the view inside.

The gunman, Devin Patrick Kelley, began firing into the church as John Holcombe’s father Bryan an assistant pastor, ascended to the pulpit.

Walking up and down the centre aisle, Kelley killed 25 people at the church, including crying babies at point-blank range, according to witness accounts.

Authorities have put the official toll at 26, because Crystal Holcombe was pregnant.

Mr Holcombe was managing the church’s audio-visual operations at the back of the building and escaped with minor injuries.

Our Daily Manna November 16, 2017: ODM devotional – World Vigil Day: War Against The Evil Horse And Its Rider!

Topic — World Vigil Day: War Against The Evil Horse And Its Rider! [Thursday, November 16, 2017]

Basic Scriptures: Exodus 15:1-21

Vs. 19 of today’s scripture says: “For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea.” Thus, the horse of Pharaoh was his source of power and confidence! When God wanted to paralyze Pharaoh, He “took off their chariot wheels……..(Ex 14:25). In fact, Exodus 14:24 says that God “troubled the host of the Egyptians…….” He removed their CHARIOT WHEELS! That means when God wants to deal with your full time enemies, He will give them full time troubles!

Pharaoh’s chariot were the best in the world then! There were his confidence and Jehovah attacked them! Yes, He will look at whatever is giving your enemies the confidence to trouble you and He will deal with that thing today and tonight. Hear the audacious Apostle Paul: “I would they were even cut off which trouble you (Gal 5:12). “Cut off” means to die! God is ready to cut off any evil horse and its rider tonight!

Join all ODM users worldwide 12 midnight -1am, tonight as we provoke the heavens against any/every Pharaoh and their evil horses!

Teens’ Open Heavens 16 November 2017 by Pastor Adeboye – Children of Perdition?

Topic: Children of Perdition? [Thursday 16, November 2017]

Memorise: “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.” – John 17:12

Read: John 17:9-12

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Bible In One Year: Acts 10-11. Hymn: Sing Hymn 4: Take My Life And Let It Be

MESSAGE:

When you follow Jesus through and through, He will keep from falling into the persecution of your enemies. They will try all their best to trap you, but the Almighty God will always deliver you from their traps.

One truth we must always remember is that we are weak and we cannot keep ourselves. This is why it is very important to be a partner with Jesus. Once you leave your life in His care, you can be sure that your blessing is guaranteed in Him.

If you resist His will, you will not be a partaker of His glory. This is why you have to leave behind all those things hindering you from serving God and surrender all to Him. Judgement is coming; to be forewarned is to be forearmed. Tomorrow may be too late. You will not miss it in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point: Father, let nothing take me away from You in Jesus’ Name.

Sing Hymn 4: Take My Life And Let It Be

1. Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2. Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.
