Teacher faces disciplinary for calling female born transgender pupil a girl

In November, a complaint was made against Christian teacher, Joshua Sutcliffe from Oxford, that he referred to a transgender pupil as a “girl”, rather than the desired ‘boy’. The pupil had self-declared as ‘male’. However, according to a press release from the Christian Legal Centre, Joshua had not been given any formal instruction on how to refer to the pupil.

Following a week-long investigation, the school found that Joshua ‘misgendered’ the pupil, ‘demonstrating discriminatory behaviours’ and ‘[contravened] the school’s equality policy’. The school recommended dealing with the matter of ‘misconduct’ under the disciplinary policy.

The Mail on Sunday reports that Joshua is an evangelical church pastor and that when he noticed the teenager and a friend working hard, he said, “Well done girls”.  However, he apologised for this.

The paper also reports that he was said to be in breach of equality policies when he referred to the pupil by name rather than as ‘he’ or ‘him’.

Responding to the disciplinary process, Joshua commented: “I have been shocked and saddened by the actions of the school, which, in my opinion, reflect an increasing trend of seeing Christians, people like me, being marginalised in the public square, and our beliefs punished and silenced.

“I have a deep conviction that we are all made in God’s image, male and female.”

The Christian Legal Centre is supporting the teacher.

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 12 November 2017 Devotional: Simplify Your Prayers

Joyce Meyer's Daily 12 November 2017 Devotional: Simplify Your Prayers

Topic: Simplify Your Prayers [Sunday November 12, 2017]

Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. — James 5:16

I’ve learned that simple, heartfelt, full-of-faith prayers always get God’s attention. Unfortunately, we often overlook this and turn our prayers into a big show when in reality, prayer is simply communication with God.

We have to beware of talking to impress ourselves when we’re praying. Sometimes I think we feel like we need to sound eloquent. We want to impress God with our phrases and sound holy. But God just wants to have a little chat with us.

He wants us to talk to Him like we would a friend—not with a different tone of voice. If we don’t speak Elizabethan English during the day, we don’t need to use it when we pray.

We also don’t have to pray for hours on end. It’s good to schedule prayer time, but we should just pray until we’re finished and then go about our business until the next time we feel the need to pray some more.

The only way prayer will ever be satisfying is if you simply use it as an opportunity to worship and thank God for all He does for you, to get His help, and involve Him in everything you do. He’s not here to be impressed…He’s here to live life with you. Don’t perform. Just invite Him in.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, don’t let me turn prayer into a performance! I don’t want pray a certain way or a certain amount of time just to impress You. I simply want You to be my closest friend and be part of every aspect of my life.

Winning Wisdom: You Are Well Able

Ese Ehimare Dave

Topic: You Are Well Able [Sunday, 12th November, 2017]

And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. Numbers 13:30

I am going to state it as it is. For the child of God, there is no disability in Him. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that is beyond his ability. The things he cannot do are the things he doesn’t want to do, or the things that he is afraid to do. But why will fear be the limiting factor to God’s sons and daughters? That’s not consistent with who we are. Fear is not part of our system. The life we now live, we live it by the faith of Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us (Galatians 2:20). So the faith of Christ is at work in us, not fear. So, delete the fear part.

Faced with a mountainous tasked? You are well able to make it plain with the swag of the Holy Spirit. Faced with something new and beyond your scope of knowledge and skill sets? The Holy Spirit is at work in you to teach you all things. The thing is, you are enabled supernaturally, so you are well able. The capacity with which you operate with is not that of man, but you are operating with the capacity of the Holy Spirit, so you are well able. As long as you are able to know and understand anything, you can operate in its sphere. And scripture talks about you in this regard thus: “but ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things” (1 John 2:20). Glory to God!

I don’t know what you’ve heard about your ability, I don’t know what you’ve tried and failed in, I really don’t care how many times people have talked down on your ability because they are viewing it from a human perspective. But one thing I am so sure of is that YOU ARE WELL ABLE. You can do all things through the enablement that the strength of Christ brings in you. The strength of Christ, not your human strength. That strength is at work in you. Always look forward to doing things that are seemingly difficult for others. Why? Because YOU ARE WELL ABLE.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

I know the power of the Holy Spirit is at work in me, enabling me beyond human capabilities to efficiently and effectively do all that is before me, even in the task that is beyond my knowledge and skill sets. I rely fully on the Holy Spirit’s strength, and with Him, I am well able, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Invitation To True Satisfaction

A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Invitation To True Satisfaction [12/11/2017]

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Isaiah 55:2. Read: Isa 55:1-3

The story of the rich young man recorded in Matthew 19 actually depicts the lives of many people today. They know vividly that they lack peace and joy over their lives, in spite of how comfortable they appear to the public, they’re not satisfied with their lives. They know something is missing in their lives, so they try to look for that thing that is missing in wrong places. For example, they are looking for peace of mind in the world when Jesus said there is no peace but tribulations. They search for happiness and satisfaction through acquiring more money, sex, intoxicating drinks, drugs etc, yet happiness, joy, peace of mind and satisfaction is far from their reach. Just as a river that forgets its source will dry up so is every man that run after other means of satisfaction at the expense of the true satisfier – Jesus Christ.

From the above scripture, God asked a question which is worthy of note, He asked, why do you spend money on things that cannot satisfy you? Come get this satisfaction free of charge without paying a dime for it. This is a free invitation to experience all round satisfaction in this troubled world. It’s an invitation to experience heavenly bliss on earth, ain’t you happy and excited? You should! You must seize this golden opportunity to experience joy and peace like a river as you surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ now.

#BiblePromisesThought

* Peace and joy are both located in Christ Jesus because He is both the Prince of peace and the joy of the whole world.

Our Daily Manna November 12, 2017: ODM devotional – He Left His Son’s Burial: Don’t Judge!

Our Daily Manna November 12, 2017: ODM devotional – He Left His Son’s Burial: Don’t Judge!

Topic — He Left His Son’s Burial: Don’t Judge! [Sunday, November 12, 2017]

Basic Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 2:3-12

Dr. Stephen entered the hospital in a hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He found  the boy’s father pacing in the hall, waiting for the doctor. On seeing him, the father yelled “Why did you take all the time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?”

Dr. Stephen smiled and said, “I am sorry, I was in the hospital and I came as fast as I could after receiving the call and now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work.” “Calm down? What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your son died while waiting the doctor, what would you do then?” said the father angrily. The doctor smiled and replied, “we will do our best by God’s grace and you should always pray for your son’s healthy life.” The surgery took some hours, after the doctor came our happy.

“Thank goodness, your son is saved” and without waiting for the father’s reply, he hurried away saying, “if you have any question, ask the nurse.” The boy’s father asked the nurse, “Why is he so arrogant, couldn’t he wait for a few minutes so that I could ask for my son’s procedure?” The nurse answered, tears coming down her face, “his son died yesterday in a road accident. He was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery. And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burials.”

Never judge anyone because you don’t  know what battle  he/she is fighting. No wonder Jonathan Harnisch quipped: “The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of the world but those who fight and win battles that others do not know anything about.” I also remember what someone once said: “Walk a mile in my shoes, see what I see, feel what I feel, then maybe you will understand why I do what I do. Until then, don’t judge me.”

Determine never to judge others without finding out the reason behind their actions. Never draw hasty conclusions even when you think you have evidence. Give everyone you meet the benefit of the doubt; time will reveal who they are and why they do what they do. Pray seriously now!

Prayer Points: Take any song of worship as led now.

1. Thank God for today’s word and pray as you are led!

2.  Repent from ways in which you have been quick in judging others.

3. Ask for the grace to be more  patient with people.

4. Father, do something in my life that will be an EVIDENCE in Your power  to my generation in Jesus name(Pray it well).

5. Pray about today seriously and any other issue (s) affecting your peace.

DCLM Daily Manna 12 November, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – Ungodly Practices

Topic: Ungodly Practices — Sunday November 12, 2017.

Text: Luke 16:1-18

Key Verse: “And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?” (Luke 16:12).

The parables of our Lord Jesus Christ on money startle those who do not allow the Spirit of God to interpret its meaning. But in 2 Peter 1:20,21, we are warned that “…no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”. Therefore our Lord’s parable on the wasteful and dishonest manager does not teach the Christian employee to squander his boss’ goods and later resort to shady dealings to cover up.

It is impossible for the Lord who taught in Matthew 5 that we should be pure and let our lights shine in this corrupt world and be perfect like God who takes no pleasure in evil (Psalms 5:4) to contradict Himself. On the contrary, He wants His followers to be wise and astute in matters of handling money and position. The cunning steward adopted a plan to earn a place in the hearts of his master’s customers if he lost his job. He used his position to secure future gratitude. However, God does not desire money to be an end in our lives. It should be used for gospel work to win souls and to help the needy.

The Lord sums it up thus in Matthew 6:20,21 to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” The Lord concludes His teaching by warning against aligning our value system with that of the world which permits divorce, polygamy and a mindless pursuit of material possessions.

Thought for the day: He who is trustworthy gains the Ruler’s confidence.

Seeds of Destiny 12 November 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Failure Is Not A Bus Stop

Seeds of Destiny 12 November 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Failure Is Not A Bus Stop

Topic: Failure Is Not A Bus Stop [Sunday November 12, 2017]

Scripture: But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18

Thought For The Day: It does not matter how badly you have messed up and missed it, you can still make it if you mean it.

Failure is simply the inability of something to work out as expected. It is an abortion of project, ventures, opportunities or expectations in life.

The challenge today is that many people have come to think or conclude that failure is the end of the road. However, a bend on the road is not the end of the road.

The truth is that you have not failed until you accept that you have failed. Failure is only a mistake that can be corrected.

It was Bishop David Abioye who said, ‘Mistake means re-take’. That is to say, if you missed it before, you can take it again.

You may say, ‘If I did not make this mistake, if I did not mess up like that, I would have been a better person by now’. No! Do not say that. It is possible that you messed up, failed or made mistakes, and as a result, a major door got closed against you, but the good news is that you are not the same as your mistake(s).

Beloved, it does not matter how badly you have messed up and missed it, you can still make it if you mean it.

The critical thing is not that you failed, messed up or made mistakes; the most important thing is your ability to forgive yourself and move on. Release fresh optimism, acquire fresh determination, gain fresh momentum and take new calculated steps.

You shall succeed, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: It does not matter how badly you have messed up and missed it, you can still make it if you mean it.

Assignments:

1. Forgive yourself of every past mistake.

2. Delete the memory of every past failure from your mind.

3. Do it again; re-take your mistakes or what you failed to achieve.

Prayer: LORD, I confess that I am not a failure. I receive the grace to forget my past mistakes and make a new positive move O LORD, in Jesus’ Name.

Our Daily Bread 12 November 2017 Devotional – What’s the Best Gift?

Our Daily Bread 12 November 2017 Devotional – What’s the Best Gift?

Topic: What’s the Best Gift? — Sunday November 12, 2017.

Read: 2 Chronicles 2:1–10, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 51–52; Hebrews 9

The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods. 2 Chronicles 2:5

My husband recently celebrated a milestone birthday, the kind that ends in a zero. I thought hard about the best way to honor him on this important occasion. I discussed my many ideas with our children to help me home in on the best one. I wanted our celebration to reflect the significance of a new decade and how precious he is to our family. I wanted our gift to be in keeping with the importance of this milestone in his life.

King Solomon wanted to give to God a much greater gift than a “big birthday” would merit. He wished for the temple he built to be worthy of God’s presence in it. To secure raw materials, he messaged the king of Tyre. In his letter, he remarked that the temple would be great “because our God is greater than all other gods” (2 Chron. 2:5). He acknowledged that God’s vastness and goodness far exceeded what could ever be built with human hands, yet set about the task anyway out of love and worship.

Our God is indeed greater than all other gods. He has done wondrous things in our lives, prompting our hearts to bring Him a loving and precious offering, regardless of its external value. Solomon knew his gift wouldn’t match God’s worth, yet joyfully set his offering before Him; we can too.

Prayer: Lord, You are indeed a great God, matchless in worth. May my offerings be pleasing in Your sight.

The most treasured gift we can give to God is our love.

TREM’s Daily 12 November 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Learn To Exercise Dominion

TREM’s Daily 12 November 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Learn To Exercise Dominion

Topic: Learn To Exercise Dominion — Sunday November 12, 2017.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11 KJV)

Genesis chapter 1 reveals how God functions and also teaches how Man that is created in God’s image and likeness should function. In the beginning, according to the scriptures, God created the heaven and the earth. God is a good God. He has no evil to give. He has nothing bad at all to give any man. All He gives is good.

But in Genesis 1:2 (KJV), the bible says, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep…” You will discover it appeared as if there is a contradiction as if what God created was bad. However, in verse 3 (KJV), God began to show His children how they ought to function. He took charge by exercising dominion. It says, “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Instantly, darkness was expelled. That is how to rule. That is how to exercise dominion. Through the spoken word! You don’t fold your hands and allow the devil run roughshod over you. Don’t sit down and cry to God. Do something. Don’t you know you are His representative here on earth? “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth has He given to the children of men. (Psalms 115:16 KJV)

You have the authority of God. Therefore, whenever you see the devil, you should expel him. The world was created by the spoken word. God said, and God saw. This world was not created out of what is seen. He upholds all things by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). If you remove the word now, everything you are seeing will disintegrate. The word is so powerful. It can create and can sustain. We are made in the image and likeness of God. So we can also speak like God and the words will create what we desire and sustain it. Don’t speak your circumstance; speak what you want. Jesus declared in Mark 11:23 that you can have whatever you say if you believe and do not doubt in your heart.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily November 12, 2017 Devotional: Open the Flow

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily November 12, 2017 Devotional: Open the Flow

Topic: Open the Flow [Sunday November 12, 2017]

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. – Hebrews 12:1-2

Disciplining the flesh. For many believers that phrase stirs memories of frustration and failure. They know it’s important—the Word of God clearly teaches that. But they’re not sure exactly how to go about it.

Some have given up, shrugging off such discipline as impossible. Others are still fighting stubbornly to get their flesh under control—and losing one battle after another.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, we can’t afford to let it be that way. It will cost us too much.

You and I are blessed to be part of the generation that will see the signs and wonders which the prophets of old wished they could have lived long enough to see. We will witness the Spirit of God poured out upon all flesh. But sin hinders the Spirit’s flow. And only as we rid ourselves of it will the power and glory of God be manifest through us. Only then will we experience the glorious things that are prophesied to take place in our generation.

So put your past failure behind you. Make up your mind that you’re not going to let the sins of the flesh rob you of the glory of God. It is possible to step out of the sin you’ve struggled with so long and live under the Spirit’s control. Look to Jesus…He will show you how.
