(Photo: SC Diocese)A banner bearing the seal of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina.

A mediation process between The Episcopal Church and a South Carolina-based diocese that broke away from the denomination has been delayed until December.

For the past few years, The Episcopal Church, its local chapter The Episcopal Church in South Carolina, and The Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina have been in litigation over church properties estimated at $500 million in value.

Senior U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Anderson Jr. decided Tuesday morning to recess the mediation until Dec. 4-5, according to a brief post on the Episcopal Church in South Carolina’s website.

Holly Votaw, spokesperson for TECSC, told The Christian Post that since the mediation talks were confidential in nature, “no further comment will be made about the recess.”

Votaw did direct CP to a pastoral letter from TECSC Bishop the Rt. Rev. Gladstone B. Adams III sent on Nov. 1, which called on Episcopalians to hold “all parties at the table in prayer.”

“The form and content is up to you, but my prayer will be that everyone present will…

Recently, I attended the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice’s hearing (which ended on a rather heated note) on H.R. 490—otherwise known as the Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017. The Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017 was introduced in the…

Video of Little Girl Praising Jesus Goes Viral

Video of Little Girl Praising Jesus Goes Viral

Loren Patterson loves dancing and singing, especially when she can do so praising Jesus. Recently, Loren’s mother Jennifer posted a video that went viral of her daughter dancing and singing in their church’s children’s choir.

Loren can be seen in the video dancing, stomping her feet, clapping, and singing enthusiastically to a praise song. “Loren singing in choir this morning. In case you can’t find her she’s the one in pink and brown,” Jennifer lightheartedly captioned the video.

“I could tell something was going on, but I couldn’t tell what it was,” Patterson told ABC News, as reported by CBN News. “When I saw the video, I just couldn’t believe what she was doing.”

Loren was simply taking joy in praising Jesus. “That is 100 percent her personality,” Jennifer added. “She was just going with the Lord.”

The video Jennifer posted to Facebook of Loren dancing and singing has received over 40 million views, and Jennifer says their family has received so many messages of encouragement and inspiration from it.

“I’ve gotten them from around the world, from people saying they’ve been blessed in one way or another,” she shared.  “One I remember in particular was a woman who renewed her faith just because she felt the conviction when she watched the video.”

‘What Happened’? God Intervened .

God intervened, and Donald Trump became our 45th president. (Kevin Lamarque / Reuters )

Hillary Clinton wrote a book called What Happened. My book answers her question: God intervened.

In God and Donald Trump, which released Nov. 7, I set out to examine the spiritual dimensions of what was happening in America during a very contentious election campaign. The faith angle isn’t something often discussed in political circles, but it is becoming more and more apparent that the faith of Donald Trump,…

Take a Look Inside the House Where Martin Luther Lived and Studied

(Photo: The Christian Post)Exterior of Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany on Oct. 30, 2017.

WITTENBERG — In the city made famous by an Augustinian monk whose conflicted soul impelled him to pore over the pages of Scripture and rediscover God’s grace, one can visit Martin Luther’s place of dwelling.

The Christian Post was in Germany last week to cover the festivities surrounding the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and was given a personal tour of the Lutherhaus, the house where Luther, the father of Protestantism, spent many of his days. Mirko Gutjahr, one of the curators, gave CP a personal guided tour of the house and the accompanying exhibits.

The Luther House is located on the main street in downtown Wittenberg. In 1504, it was an Augustinian monastery that would later become the Luthers’ home. Today, it is the largest Reformation museum in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Here is a look inside the place where Luther spent a significant portion of his life. (Click arrow above image)

Christian Human Rights Lawyer Gao Zhisheng Escaped, Recaptured

Christian Human Rights Lawyer Gao Zhisheng Escaped, Recaptured

International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that, with the help of two friends, Chinese Christian human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng escaped in August from his home in Shaanxi, where he was under house arrest. For 23 days, he hid in a vacation house in Jiexiu city in neighboring province, until Shaanxi police mobilized a large number of officers to cross the border and recapture him. While his friends were detained, Gao vanished again and now is believed to be under police custody in Beijing.

One of his friends who assisted with the rescue, Mr. Li Fawang, was released on October 26 with bail pending trial. Four days later, he reached out to his reporter friend to recount how they successfully brought Gao out and give details of subsequent development.

Upon learning that Gao sought to escape from his house arrest, Shao Zhongguo snuck him out and the two met with Li Fawang in neighboring province Shanxi.  Li had pre-arranged with a local friend to provide accommodations for Gao until they found another safe haven. Their plan went unnoticed until about three weeks later when both Shao and Li were arrested and detained by the police.

Li briefly saw Gao when he was about to be transported back to Shaanxi for detention. The encounter was so brief that Li was unable to utter a word to Gao. Gao’s whereabouts became unknown after they parted ways.

Both Li and Shao suffered…
