Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz Fails to Condemn Abortion

Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz Fails to Condemn Abortion

Well-known pastor of Hillsong Church, Carl Lentz, has run into controversy after he failed to condemn abortion while he was a guest on “The View.”

Co-host Joy Behar asked Lentz whether or not he believes abortion is wrong, to which he responded, “That’s the kind of conversation we would have finding out your story, where you’re from, what you believe. I mean, God’s the judge. People have to live to their own convictions,” Lentz continued. “That’s such a broad question, to me, I’m going higher. I want to sit with somebody and say, ‘What do you believe?’”

James Silberman, a contributor to TheFederalist.com, notes that Lentz’s failure to unequivocally condemn abortion is indicative of the moral relevancy which is so pervasive in our culture, and even within the Church.

“‘Live to your own convictions’” is practically the slogan of the abortion lobby,” notes Silberman.

After Lentz’s answer to the abortion question, Behar pushed the issue even further: “So it’s not an open and shut case for you?” she asked.

“Some people would say it is,” Lentz responded. “To me, I’m trying to teach people who Jesus is first, and find out their story. Before I start picking and choosing what I think is sin in your life, I’d like to know your name.”

What do you think? Do you agree with Lentz?

We have an interesting story, well told, from .. . charismapodcastnetwork.com.

This week marks one year since President Donald Trump was elected in a shocking, historical contest that is still making headlines today.

And although the election astounded many, New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Cahn says the outcome could be found in an ancient Middle-Eastern paradigm from nearly 3,000 years ago.

Church to draft lonely clergy care plan

A new group has been formed and tasked with drawing up a Covenant for Clergy Well-being after concerns over stress levels.

The Covenant will be modelled on the Armed Forces Covenant, a Government initiative which encourages employers to be more supportive of veterans and their families.

The Church agreed to take action following a meeting of its governing body in July (pictured below) which heard how work pressures are hampering clergy member’s lives and ministries.

Lay and ordained members of the General Synod will contribute to the Covenant, as will individuals with health and education expertise.

General Synod member, Canon Simon Butler said: “Such was the interest in serving on this Working Group and the strength-in-depth of the insights and skills offered to the Appointments Committee that we could have easily populated the Working Group twice over.

“This can only bode well for our work in developing a Covenant for Clergy Well-being that draws on all that the church is learning about how attending to the well-being of the clergy is vital to the mission and ministry of the whole church.”

Work on the Covenant will begin this month, with the aim to have proposals ready for when General Synod meets in July 2019.

Is Prayer Useless If It Can’t Protect Christians at Church? Greg Laurie, Ronnie Floyd Respond

Is prayer useless if it can’t protect Christians at church?

Prominent pastors are responding to that claim which was spurred by a debate on social media after the mass shooting at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday.

“Granted, it’s hard to understand why God would allow a tragedy like this to happen, especially in a church. Our hearts break for the families and friends of those who were murdered in this wicked and cold-blooded attack,” Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside and Irvine, California, said in a written statement to The Christian Post on Monday.

“However, the Bible does not promise anyone a pain-free life. In fact, Jesus Himself said, ‘In this world you will have tribulation’ (John 16:33). Here is what I do know: these people that were gathered for worship at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, believed in and loved Jesus Christ,” Laurie added.

The megachurch pastor assured that the victims are now in God’s presence, “where there is ‘fullness of joy’ and ‘pleasures…

Here’s the other church shooting on Sunday you don’t know about

Police have revealed a man shot and killed his estranged wife and her boyfriend as they left the service, and then killed himself at his home.

The Fresno Bee reported that Manuel Garcia, 64, waited for Martha Garcia, 61, and her unidentified 51-year-old partner to leave the 7:30 am Mass at St Alphonsus Church, and then shot them both in the head in the car park.

The Garcias had raised four children in 43 years of marriage, however, Martha Garcia filed for divorce a month ago, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer told reporters.

The Washington Post reported that, shortly afterwards, Martha Garcia told family and friends that she was in a relationship with someone else.

Martha Garcia was already dead when police officers arrived and found the couple in a car.

Her companion died shortly after.

Manuel Garcia returned to his nearby home, where he began sending his daughter text messages saying he had killed her mother and was going to kill himself.

A police robot sent into the house found him dead with a gunshot wound to the head, with the weapon still in his hand.

While the Fresno community was shocked by the double murder, it received little attention as news of 26 worshippers later being gunned down in Texas became the top story for news outlets around the globe.

Devin Kelley opened fire at a church in Sutherland Springs on Sunday.

Police are still searching for a motive in the shooting, which is the largest mass…

Harvard Honors Elton John For Efforts To Fight Disease

Reuters/Mike SegarSinger Elton John performs at the Hillary Victory Fund ”I’m With Her” benefit concert for U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in March 2016.

When it comes to battling HIV-AIDS, most people often picture doctors and scientists hard at work at finding a cure for the deadly disease. However, there are also people that while aren’t versed in medicine, provide help in raising awareness and even donate to research efforts, people like Elton John.

The 70-year-old singer was recently honored at Harvard University for his philanthropic efforts to fight the disease. John was presented with Harvard Foundation’s Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award at a ceremony Monday, an award previously given to individuals such as former South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Secretaries-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, Kofi Annan, Boutros Boutros-Ghali and Javier Perez de Cuellar.

John, who runs an AIDS foundation, calls the award “both gratifying and tremendously humbling.” He adds that they are committed to sustain and grow the progress they’ve made to eradicate stigma and end the spread of HIV/AIDS, once and for all.

Since it was established in 1992, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised more than $300 million for HIV- and AIDS-related programs in fifty-five countries. The charity supports itself via proceeds from special events, cause-related marketing projects, and voluntary contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Over the years, it has garnered a number of famous and wealthy patrons…

Joel and Victoria Osteen’s daily November 7, 2017 devotional: Saying What David Said

Joel and Victoria Osteen’s daily November 7, 2017 devotional: Saying What David Said

Today’s Scripture: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14, NIV)

Topic: Saying What David Said [Tuesday November 7, 2017]

“I’m God’s masterpiece. I’m wonderfully made. I’m talented. I’m original. God has given me everything that I need.” That’s what David was saying in Psalm 139. He praised God for making him in an amazing way and declared that what God had done was wonderful. Is that how you started your day?

Most people think they are being humble by putting themselves down. They say, “Oh, I’m not that talented. It was no big deal.” But really, we should be bold like David and say, “I’m amazing. I’m a masterpiece. God made me, and He doesn’t make junk! I am equipped, I am empowered, and I am talented!”

Today, make the decision to stop putting yourself down; stop focusing on your flaws and comparing yourself to others. Your Creator says “you are a masterpiece.” It’s time to get in agreement with God and realize how much He loves you. It’s time to realize how special you are. Make the shift by changing your words and start by saying what David said!

A Prayer for Today: “Father, I do praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Thank You for equipping me for every good work. Thank You for showing me Your love in a new way as I keep my heart and mind focused on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

From Joel Osteen Ministries.
