    Exorcism Manual Released by US Catholics Details Ritual Ridding Demons, Prayers Against Darkness

    The first official English-language translation of a ritual book on exorcisms has been released by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, detailing practices that get rid of demons and prayers against the “powers of darkness.”

    “Given that there’s less facility in Latin than there used to be, even among priests, it opens the door to more priests to do this. Until now, not only did the priest have to be wise and holy, but he also had to have strong facility in Latin,” Fr. Andrew Menke, executive director of the USCCB’s Secretariat of Divine Worship, told Catholic News Service on Tuesday.

    “It makes it easier for a priest who might otherwise be a good exorcist but who would be intimidated by a requirement to use a Latin text. Having it available in the vernacular means he can concentrate on prayer and on the ritual, without needing to worry about working in another language,” he added.

    The ritual book, titled Exorcisms and Related Supplications, was made available online on the USCCB website.

    Catholic Tory MP backs reduced abortion limit

    Tory backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg reiterated his strict anti-abortion stance in a heated exchange with BBC’s Emma Barnett.

    Barnett pointed out Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said he would favour cutting the abortion limit from 24 weeks to 12 and said changes to the limit could be changed by a bill if Cabinet ministers supported a reduction.

    Rees Mogg responded:” I would be in favour of the numbers of weeks being reduced, of course I would.

    “By as many weeks as possible.”

    The MP, who some say could be a future Prime Minister, also called abortions after rape a “second wrong”.

    The 1967 Abortion Act came into effect 50 years ago on Friday and the anniversary has sparked a debate over whether the law should be relaxed or tightened.

    Rees Mogg made his position on abortion clear during the 5 Live interview and added: “It is important to look at the number of weeks because to abort babies beyond the number of weeks at which they could live outside the womb seems to me extremely difficult to defend.

    “I’m against abortion. Full stop. I would support reducing the number of weeks… Life either begins at the point of concept or moment of birth to fix a number of weeks is essentially arbitrary.

    “But I would support a reduction.”

    Actor Mark Wahlberg is making news, not for a movie he made but for one he regrets making.

    Wahlberg, a committed Catholic Christian, was recently in Chicago to support Bishop Blase Cupich’s work in drawing young people into the church. The actor admitted: “I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving, because I’ve made some poor choices in my past.” Asked if he’d ever prayed for forgiveness for any particular movies, he added, “‘Boogie Nights‘ is up there at the top of the list.”

    For those of us who have not seen that movie (and I hope that’s all of us), the film is a pornographic depiction of the porn industry. Wahlberg is right to ask God’s forgiveness for making it.

    But that’s not the reaction his confession is receiving in the secular press. Esquire calls Boogie Nights “an excellent movie” and claims that Wahlberg should seek forgiveness for “about two dozen” of his other films first. People magazine agrees, professing surprise that Wahlberg chose this movie over some of his other films.

    Meanwhile, researchers at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, have published a new report stating that the universe shouldn’t exist.

    The current scientific model for the birth of the universe claims that equal parts of matter and antimatter were produced by the Big Bang. However, matter and antimatter annihilate each other. Since they were produced in equal amounts, nothing should exist today. This new study made the most precise measurements ever, but could not find an explanation for this mystery.

    Of course, Genesis 1 offers a different approach.

    While Halloween is considered a secular event, the day that follows it, All Saints Day, is a Christian holiday that it is celebrated in different ways across the globe.

    All Saints Day is always observed on the first day of November, and it falls on a Wednesday this year. For many Christians, the day is celebrated to honor departed loved ones, believing that there is a special bond between those who are already in heaven and the living.

    While remembering saints has always been a Christian tradition, beginning as early as the fourth century AD, it was only in 609 AD when Pope Boniface IV decided to honor the martyrs, both known and unknown. However, in 837AD, Pope Gregory IV moved the date of the Feast of All Holy Martyrs from May 13 to Nov. 1 and changed the name of the celebration to Feast of All Saints, or what is now known as All Saints Day.

    However, All Saints Day is also referred to as All Hallows Day or Hallowmas as, after all, the word “Hallow” means a saint or somebody holy. As All Hallows Day is celebrated on November 1, Halloween is known as also known as All Hallows Eve as it is celebrated on October 31.

    All Saints Day is celebrated in different ways. While the religious holiday is traditionally celebrated with the hymn “For All the Saints” by Walsham How and lighting candles to remember the dead in English-speaking countries, Guatemala, Spain and Portugal celebrate with offerings.

    Most Britons only care about six of the Ten Commandments

    The findings also ring true of Christians in the country.

    The Commandments that most Brits, Christian and non-Christian, think is still important to live by is thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not steal. Ninety-three per cent of respondents said they are still important.  

    You shall not bear false witness, and you shall not commit adultery followed as other commandments important to the 1,680 adults interviewed.

    Graham Nicholls, director of Christian charity Affinity, said this is something to celebrate.

    He said: “It shows that what God says corresponds with what most of us know is right, especially when it comes to how we treat one another.

    “To the confounding of scientific materialists, we still have a sense of right and wrong.

    “If we believe God’s ways are good ways, then in our best moments we know deep down that the Ten Commandments set a pattern for life that is essentially good.”

    However, the four commandments that Brits care about the least are:

    • You shall not worship idols
    • Thou shall not use the Lord’s name in vain
    • I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other God before me
    • Remember to keep the Sabbath day

    Fewer than a third of Britons said that people should not worship idols (defined in the survey as statues or symbols).

    But the survey found Christians are split on whether they still consider this to be an important commandment, with 43 per cent saying it is and 44 per cent saying it is not.

    Topic: The Grace For Power [Thursday October 26, 2017]

    Scripture: And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33

    Thought For The Day: Heavier power equals heavier possibilities.

    It is important to know that Power is needed to do anything in life. That is why powerful people are successful people while powerless people are always failures and nonentities in life.

    Now, one secret of power is grace. Great grace is the sponsor of great power. To be engraced is to be empowered. When God engraces a person, he is empowered unto greatness. That is why highly anointed servants of God are highly engraced people.

    What then are the products of power?

    1. It takes power to prevail

    In the battles of life, it takes power not to end as a casualty. It takes power to win; it takes power to prevail (Genesis 32:28).

    2. It takes power to terminate captivity

    A major reason for captivity is power bankruptcy. It takes power to break bondages and captivities. Captivity will continue until the relevant power is accessed and manifested (Exodus 32:11).

    3. It takes power to accomplish the impossible
    In order to break into some dimensions of possibilities, a dimension of power is needed. The possibilities you have seen so far are the products of the power at your disposal. Heavier power equals heavier possibilities (Luke 1:35-37).

    Beloved, in order to attain a new dimension of power such as you have never experienced before, you must come to the throne of grace boldly in prayer (Hebrews 4:16). You must desire the need to obtain the power to prevail against the devil.

    Remember This: Heavier power equals heavier possibilities.

    Assignments:

    1. Make up your mind to access the power of God for breakthroughs in life.

    2. Do not live as a weakling on earth.

    Prayer: O LORD, I pray for power to prevail in life and destiny in Jesus’ Name.
