Russell Moore says the belief that the United States is a Christian nation in the respect of being a divinely ordained country is “theological liberalism.”
In a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday, the head of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention tackled the question of whether or not the U.S. is a Christian nation.
“If what you mean by that is a nation in which most of the people profess to be Christians, then certainly the United States of America was and is a Christian nation,” said Moore.
It is altogether fitting that Donald Trump became the all-but-certain presidential nominee of the Republican Party on the same day that he cited the ridiculous allegations of the National Enquirer that Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael, had involvement in the assassination of JFK.
This is not so much an indictment on Trump as it is an indictment on the American people. God could well be giving us exactly what we deserve.
After all, we are the generation raised on a steady diet of amoral and immoral reality TV, also feasting on shows like Jerry Springer and Howard Stern and regurgitating meaningless sound bites as though they were pearls of wisdom.
No wonder, then, that Donald J. Trump appeals to so many Americans. He is a National Enquirer candidate for a Jerry Springer generation. What a match!
Of course, there are fine people who also believe in Trump’s candidacy, people of conscience, spiritual people, patriotic people.
I certainly do not condemn all of their judgments, nor is it my place to do so.
I have also listened carefully to the prognosticators who have predicted for months that Trump would be our next president – some even claimed prophetic inspiration for these predictions — and that he would be a tool in God’s hand to destroy the corrupt political establishment and do good to our nation.
I fervently hope that these prophecies will prove true and that I will have to eat every word I have written — and I am writing.
I have no desire to be right; I do have an intense desire to see America blessed; and I would far rather say, “I was so wrong about Donald Trump,” than say, “I told you so!” … Read More

A Christian MP has said vulnerable children in care need priority access to mental health services to stop them being overlooked.
Labour’s Stephen Timms was speaking after a group of MPs including himself which make up the Education Select Committee published a report which found the care system and health services are routinely failing to identify the mental health problems of young people in the care system.
It also found children in care were four times more likely to suffer mental health problems than their peers.Children leaving care in the UK are also five times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers and are more likely to enter the criminal justice system.
The report wants the Government to: Address the lack of reliable data about mental health
Fund mental health surveys on a five-yearly basis Allow care leavers to access Care and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) up until the age of 25
Invest in better understanding the challenges that young people face while living in and after leaving the care system
Stephen Timms told Premier: “Almost half of children in care have got a diagnosable mental health disorder. … Read More
A former Bishop of Liverpool will provide a report to the British government describing the ordeals the families of the 96 fans killed in the Hillsborough disaster have been through.
The Home Secretary Theresa May (below) made the announcement regarding Rt Revd James Jones (above) in the House of Commons, days after a jury ruled the 96 Liverpool fans were unlawfully killed in 1989.
The jury, which had been deliberating evidence for years, ruled that the work of police at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield on the day had directly contributed to their deaths, and their work after it had attempted to cover it up.
It was originally ruled that the 96 Liverpool fan’s deaths were accidental.
The jury’s ruling has paved the way for possible criminal prosecutions against the head police officer there at Hillsborough Stadium on the day, David Duckenfield.
Meanwhile the current South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Billings has suspended the force’s current Chief Constable David Crompton due to the level of public outcry against the force.
He has said it is “unlikely” David Crompton will return to his post.
Theresa May said after announcing Bishop James’ upcoming report: “I am keen that we understand and learn from the families’ experiences. … Read More

She was pregnant.
It was Friday morning when she found out. Friday afternoon, she got fired. She had two other kids to feed, and no idea how to do it. So she did what anyone who needed side cash would have done back in 2011.
She put an ad on Craigslist for her WordPress services.
No one responded. She scoured the web for new freelance platforms, and found one called Fiverr. Saturday afternoon, she joined. A year later, she is a top seller. She is known as the WordPress Queen. Her kids have food on the table. She is not a stand-alone success story.
Job security is a total myth, a scam that lulls you into a false sense of security so you do what you are told. But people are starting to catch on. It’s scary to just have one job. You are a slave. Your entire financial future and mental well-being is in the hands of one person. This is true for both entrepreneurs and employees. Lucky for all of us who don’t want to be slaves to the demands of one boss, Fiverr exists.

Fiverr is the world’s largest marketplace for creative and professional services. I’ve been using them for years, and they have saved me on several occasions. I visited their New York City Office and met with their Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), David Manela … Read more
A Christian state trooper has been sued for a second time after preaching his faith to a driver during a traffic stop.
Wendy Pyle says she was driving through Pendleton in January when she was pulled over by Indiana State Police trooper Brian Hamilton and given a warning for speeding.
But while she was pulled over, the cop used the encounter to ask if she had ‘been saved’ before inviting her to his church, the lawsuit alleges. He even gave directions.
Pyle, who does not attend church, felt ‘extremely uncomfortable with these questions’ but felt like she had no other choice but to say yes to both, the suit states.
‘When he’s engaged in the official acts of his job, especially when he’s a police officer, those kinds of stops are inherently coercive. That is not the time to be talking to people about their religion,’ Richard Waples, an Indianapolis civil rights attorney, told Fox 59.
This is the second time Hamilton has been sued for preaching to a motorist after pulling them over.
The trooper was sued in 2014 by Ellen Bogan who claimed he had stopped her that August for an alleged traffic violation in Union County.
After giving her a ticket, the cop demanded to know if she went to church and whether she had accepted Jesus Christ as her savior.
He also gave her a religious pamphlet from First Baptist Church in Cambridge City which advertised a radio broadcast called ‘Policing for Jesus Ministries.’ … Read more
