Is Kanye West’s ‘The Life Of Pablo’ Inspired by the Apostle Paul?

Christian Post Report – Recording artist Kanye West performs during the closing ceremony for the 2015 Pan Am Games at Pan Am Ceremonies Venue.

Kanye West’s seventh studio album is more than just his self-proclaimed gospel music record, his album may have been inspired by the Bible’s Apostle Paul.

The 38-year-old outspoken rap mogul whose latest album is called The Life of Pablo, took to Twitter to reveal that he was inspired by Paul, whose name translates to Pablo in Spanish.

“Paul … The most powerful messenger of the first century…,” West tweeted Saturday. “Now we stand here 20 centuries later… Because he was a traveler…”

West went on to draw comparison between Paul’s life and his own.

“He was a learned man not of the original sect so he was able to take the message to the rest of the world…He was saved from persecution due to his Roman citizenship…,” he tweeted. “I have the right to speak my voice…Please forgive the profanity and give hugs and blessings to my brother Kirk for standing by me…”

The rapper called for people to dance in the streets and wrote, “I am consumed by my purpose to help the world.”

West has talked about his new album being a profanity-laced gospel record, and he tapped Kirk Franklin, one of the biggest names in gospel music, for the song “Ultra Light Beams.” He previously told Big Boy Radio about a conversation with Franklin about his record being gospel music.

“When I was sitting in the studio with Kirk, Kirk Franklin, and we’re just going through it, I said this is a gospel album, with a whole lot of cursing on it, but it’s still a gospel album,” West said in the interview on Big Boy Radio. “The gospel according to Ye. It’s not exactly what happened in the Bible, but it’s this story idea of Mary Magdalene becoming Mary.”

The rapper went on to reveal that he believed God, his late mother Donda West and his wife Kim Kardashian’s late father Robert Kardashian Sr. were helping him finish his album.

“I’m only doing one percent, two percent of the work and God is doing the rest of the work. My mom… had Teddy Riley change his flight and come back to the studio,” West said. “Robert Kardashian is making sure that all the deals is getting done. He’s still doing deals for controversial black people from up in heaven.”

Franklin, who can be heard praying on West’s “Ultra Light Beams” has defended his decision to work with West after receiving some criticism.

“I will not turn my back on my brother. I will love him, prayerfully grow with him,” Franklin wrote on Instagram. “However long he’ll have me, and however long the race takes. To a lot of my Christian family, I’m sorry he’s not good enough, Christian enough, or running at your pace…and as I read some of your comments, neither am I.”

In Birthplace of Mexico’s Drug War, Pope Tells Youth ‘Jesus Would Never Ask Us to Be Assassins’

Christian Post Report – People take photographs of Pope Francis (C) during a meeting with youths at the Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon stadium in Morelia, Mexico, February 16, 2016.

Speaking under tight security in the birthplace of Mexico’s drug war Tuesday, Pope Francis urged a sea of young people to choose Christ over the lure of gang life, warning that “Jesus would never ask us to be assassins.”

Former Mexican President Felipe Calderon launched the country’s current war against organized crime by sending troops to his home state Michoacan in December 2006. And it has remained rife with violence, according to Vice News.

At a stadium rally in Morelia, the capital of Michoacan on Tuesday, Reuters reports that Pope Francis had been under tight security due to scattered outburst of violence in recent months. More than 100,000 people have been killed in Mexico’s drug war over the last decade as rival gangs fight over territory and smuggling routes to the United States, according to the report.

In an apparent bid to offer hope to the faithful and vulnerable in his first visit to Mexico, Pope Francis told the youth that they are the “wealth” of both Mexico and the Church while highlighting the dangers of the drug trade.

“You are the wealth of Mexico, you are the wealth of the Church. I understand that often it is difficult to feel your value when you are continually exposed to the loss of friends or relatives at the hands of the drug trade, of drugs themselves, of criminal organizations that sow terror,” he said.

“It is hard to feel the wealth of a nation when there are no opportunities for dignified work, no possibilities for study or advancement, when you feel your rights are being trampled on, which then leads you to extreme situations. It is difficult to appreciate the value of a place when, because of your youth, you are used for selfish purposes, seduced by promises that end up being untrue,” said Francis.

“I will never tire of saying, you are the wealth of Mexico. Don’t think I am saying this because I am good, or I because I have concise ideas about it; no dear friends, it is not like that. I say this to you and I am convinced of it. And do you know why? Because, like you, I believe in Jesus Christ. And it is He who continually renews in me this hope, it is He who continually renews my outlook. It is He who continually invites me to a conversion of heart. Yes, my friends, I say this because in Jesus I have found the One who is able to bring out the best in me,” he said.

“Hand in hand with him, we can move forward, hand in hand with Him we can begin again and again, hand in hand with Him we find the strength to say: it is a lie to believe that the only way to live, or to be young, is to entrust oneself to drug dealers or others who do nothing but sow destruction and death,” he added.

The pontiff ended his speech, declaring: “Jesus would never ask us to be assassins; rather, He calls us to be disciples. He would never send us out to death, but rather everything in Him speaks of life. A life in a family, life in a community; families and communities for the good of society. You are the wealth of this country, and when you doubt this, look to Jesus, He who destroys all efforts to make you useless or mere instruments of other people’s ambitions.”

Francis, who is the first Latin American pope, is expected to travel to some of the poorest and most violent corners of Mexico in a six-day tour of that country, according to Reuters.

In 2014, President Enrique Pena Nieto’s government sent in the army and forged an uneasy alliance with vigilante groups in Michoacan after a bitter conflict erupted between the groups and the powerful Knights Templar drug gang. That same year, dozens of trainee teachers were abducted and apparently massacred by a drug gang in league with corrupt police in the neighboring state of Guerrero.

Some 200,000 Catholics are expected to cross from El Paso, Texas, into Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on Wednesday to see Pope Francis in a massive pilgrimage.

Should Christians Watch ‘Deadpool’? 7 Questions to Ask

Christian Post Report – Actor Ryan Reynolds arrives for the premiere of “Deadpool” in New York, February 8, 2016.

“Deadpool” is a gory new flick that’s breaking records at the box office. The 20th Century Fox film is the movie studio’s biggest debut ever, and had the biggest R-rated opening weekend in history, surpassing 2013’s “The Matrix Reloaded” by raking in $132.7 million from Friday to Sunday.

Before deciding whether to see the grisly, sexually-charged new film, however, a recent desiringGod post by Phillip Holmes asks Christians to ponder these seven questions about nudity.

1. When Will I Tear Out My Eye, If Not Now?

Watching nudity isn’t okay, says Holmes, explaining that Jesus said those who look at others with lustful intent have already committed adultery. “Seeing naked women on the screen — or naked men — causes a man, or woman, to sin with their minds and their desires, and often with their bodies.” Based on Matthew 5:28–29, he adds, “If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away.”

2. Am I Longing to See God?

“The defilement of the mind and heart by watching nudity dulls the heart’s ability to see and enjoy God,” says Holmes. The desiringGod writer challenges believers to watch nudity, then praise God and see if they “enjoy Him more.”

3. Do I Care About the Souls of the Nudes?

He explains that when believers embrace nudity in entertainment they are ” … implicitly endorsing the sin of the women who sell themselves this way …,” and are ignoring God’s call for women to adorn themselves in respectable apparel with modesty and self-control (1 Timothy 2:9).

4. Would I Be Glad If My Daughter Played This Role?

When it comes to watching nudity, he says that most Christians are hypocrites — their watching implies that nudity is okay, while in their hearts they know that they would not want someone they cared about — a daughter, wife, husband, boyfriend or girlfriend — to play the role.
