Gospel Singer Kierra Sheard Launches Plus Size Clothing Store Online

Christian Post Report – Kierra Sheard currently serves as a judge on BET’s “Sunday Best.”

Grammy nominated gospel singer, Kierra Sheard, is officially a clothing designer now that her Eleven60 fashion line has been launched online.

Sheard, 27, debuted her fall and winter collection pieces from her full figured Eleven60 fashion line at www.MyEleven60.com. The singer and “Sunday Best” judge recently spoke the inspiration behind the clothing line.

“It’s a clothing line that compliments the thick woman. While being a full-figured woman, I’ve found it hard to find quality high fashion trends in my size,” Sheard said in a statement obtained by The Christian Post. “But no more skimpy clothes! And no more muumuus! Since the average American woman is plus size, I should be able to healthily, and fabulously, own it!”

Sheard announced that she would release Eleven60 last March and spoke up about the need to create quality apparel for what appears to be an underserved demographic of women.

“I’ve learned that the full-figured apparel represents almost eighteen billion dollars and is growing. However, we haven’t been accepted into the high fashion realm,” Sheard wrote last March. “Why?! We are the money! Let’s show them how and why we should be accepted.”

The daughter of Grammy Award-winning singer Karen Clark Sheard of the gospel music group The Clark Sisters, and Bishop J. Drew Sheard, Kierra has managed to make her mark in the music world and signed on to serve as a judge on “Sunday Best” last year. While she is planning to use the platform to showcase her upcoming clothing line, she was once apprehensive about appearing on the show next to big names like Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin and Kirk Franklin who have helped usher new talent into the gospel music industry.

“I always said I don’t think I ever want to be a judge! So I thought about it because I was a little nervous about judging and being the youngest judge on the panel,” Sheard admitted to The Christian Post last year. “It’s been a great journey because I’ve been able to glean from the trailblazers that are on the set and I’m just thankful to have the opportunity because I would never have said no to ‘Sunday Best.'”

“Sunday Best All Stars” premieres, Sunday, July 19 at 8 PM ET/PT on BET where fans can tune in to see what Sheard’s clothing line will offer. She will release her entire collection later this year.

Cornerstone Church Denies Claim That Pastor John Hagee Said Women Who Use God’s Name While Having Sex Should be ‘Thrown in Jail’

A Cornerstone Church official denied Monday a report that claims their senior pastor, John Hagee said women who shout God’s name during sex should be “thrown in jail” in an interview discussing the 10 Commandments.

The San Antonio, Texas church told The Christian Post in a telephone interview that the claim is false and that the church’s lawyers are currently looking into the situation.

“The story is a complete fabrication. It’s written to by a website that makes up these kind of stories in an effort to be humorous. All media outlets that have picked up this story have been contacted by John Hagee Ministries and will issue a retraction or face legal action,” said an official statement from Cornerstone Church’s Legal Department shared with CP.

Hagee’s remarks about women were originally reported in an interview by Newslo.com.

While discussing the 10 Commandments Hagee expressed his frustration over churches in America not taking the use of God’s name in vain seriously enough.

“Saying the Lord’s name in vain might seem petite and insignificant compared to some of the things that are going on in the world right now, even in churches all across America,” Hagee reportedly said. “But that’s precisely the problem. If shepherds of a faith start doing wrong, what is the flock supposed to do? Follow in their footsteps? I don’t think so. The flock needs to get its bearings and start thinking for itself.”

Newslo claims Hagee went on to address women who use it during sex.

“That is one of the filthiest, most derogatory and sinful uses of the Lord’s name I can think of. If it were up to me, I would put every single woman or girl who does that in jail,” Hagee reportedly said. “That would be a fine example of God’s wrath aimed at what is, in my opinion, a terrible misuse of our Maker’s good name.”

While Cornerstone church has denied this recent comment, Hagee has made controversial statements in the past. In November of last year Hagee made some strong remarks about President Barack Obama’s treatment of the nation of Israel at an event for the Zionist Organization of America.

While receiving an award for his contributions in helping Israel Hagee asserted that Obama “is anxious to accommodate Iran and its nuclear ambitions.” He also said “the executive branch is in the hands of one of the most anti-Semitic presidents in the history of the United States of America.”

Along with his work at Cornerstone Church, Hagee is leader of the Christians United for Israel organization . founded in 2006. It provides evangelical-based support for Israel and has 1.6 million members.

Taraji P Henson believes God was trying to send her a message when she was hospitalized recently.

The 44-year-old actress, recently took to her Instagram page to post a picture of an IV drip connected to her arm and while she was not forthcoming with the details behind her hospital stay, the “Empire” actress believes God was trying to get her to slow down.

“God has a way of saying ‘you’re doing too much!’ ‘SAT DOWN SOMEWHERE.’ I’m listening Father,” Henson wrote on Instagram. “I am taking several seats!!! Don’t worry y’all I’m a tough cookie! HA! I will be just fine.”

Henson won “Best Actress in a Drama” category at the Critics Choice Awards earlier this month for her portrayal as the character Cookie Lyon on the hit FOX television show, “Empire.” She previously spoke to The Christian Post about how her Christian faith has impacted her life and career.

“It has definitely kept me sane and continues to keep me sane because I know how I got here. I moved to California with $700 in my pocket with my son and a dream and faith,” Henson told CP. “And every time a door would close I would pray to God like ‘I know you’ve got a plan for me because I’m still here.’ There’s a plan for me and I believe in that.”

Although Henson later became an Oscar-nominated actress with countless other awards and accolades under her belt, there was a point in time when she had no accomplishments to feel secure about. In those moments, Henson turned to God.

“Whenever I thought I was supposed to get something and it didn’t fall through, I would just fall back to God and be like ‘ok well what else, because whatever you’ve got must be better than this,'” she revealed to CP. “And then it is, it always is.”

Christian Post Report – 2 Timothy 4:6-18

Today’s passage captures a painful time in the life of Paul the apostle. As he sat in a prison cell, he knew that death was imminent. He had devoted the last years to teaching, training, and winning souls for Christ, but he now stood alone, unsupported during his trial and time in jail. Loneliness must have seemed overwhelming.

Paul felt abandoned, yet he didn’t blame anyone or pity himself. Instead, he met the suffering with courage. What motivated him to stand with strength during this trying time?

For the apostle, an awareness of Christ’s presence gave comfort and motivated him to persevere. Having a copy of Scripture in his cell no doubt encouraged him in this way (2 Timothy 4:13). And he not only knew God was right there with him in the current moment; he also recalled earlier times when the Lord had intervened. For instance, years before, Paul had had a vision telling him not to fear during a storm on the sea. And though the ship ran aground, all of the men survived (Acts 27:22-24).

For those of us who know Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, strength is readily available in His intimate presence. Our heavenly Father promises that He will never abandon His children—even when everyone else has left.

Have your circumstances left you feeling lonely? Remember times when God was evident to you—when He clearly revealed His hand in your life. And read His Word so that the truth of His presence can comfort and encourage you. As a believer, you are truly never alone.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Wedding Date Revealed: John Luke and Mary Kate to Marry This Saturday

John Luke Robertson of A&E’s reality series “Duck Dynasty” is set to marry his fiancée Mary Kate McEacharn this Saturday, June 27, according to the couple’s online wedding registries.

The pair, who got engaged on John Luke’s 19th birthday last October, are registered at both Bed Bath and Beyond as well as West Elm where they have selected items such as drinking glasses, kitchen utensils and bakeware, among many other gifts. Other details about the wedding found on the gift registries includes news that John Luke and Mary Kate will wed in the couples’ home state of Louisiana, where “Duck Dynasty” is filmed.

Earlier this month, John Luke’s mother Korie Robertson confirmed that the summer wedding plans were “coming along.”

“We’re meeting with the wedding planner Monday and things are coming along,” she said, according to Fox411 last month. “The hardest part of figuring out the invite list; we’ve got big families.”

Also, in a previous interview with The Christian Post, John Luke’s uncle, Alan Robertson, discussed John Luke’s wedding to Mary Kate, including his own prayer for the union.

“I pray that they will be protected from attack of the evil one on their marriage vows and that they will enjoy the experience of growing together as they carve out the path of their future as a family,” said Robertson, a retired pastor known as the beardless brother on “Duck Dynasty.”

Just three days before the wedding on Saturday, the new season of “Duck Dynasty” will premiere on A&E with more on the entire Robertson family on Wednesday, June 24. The first episode of the show’s eighth season will see the family throw a lively engagement party for John Luke, Mary Kate and her parents in order to bring the two families together, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. It will also feature, “Duck Dynasty” stars such as John Luke’s father Willie Robertson and his grandfather Phil Robertson taking the groom-to-be golfing in an attempt to impart marital advice.

“Duck Dynasty” will air on A&E Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Microsoft made a better YouTube search engine than Google

The Verge reports – YouTube might never be dethroned as the king of online video, but Microsoft has just made a compelling case for visiting Bing before you watch anything on YouTube.

Microsoft gave a much-needed makeover to its Bing video search feature this week, and the final product is pretty good. It features larger, easier-to-identify video thumbnails, and you can even preview videos straight from the results to get an idea of what you’re looking at. Just hover your cursor over a result to watch a small bit of the video.

MICROSOFT TRIES TO MAKE BING YOUR VIDEO DESTINATION

Bing now shows additional information on each result, as well, to bring it up to par with YouTube. Specifically, you can now see the view count, upload date, and uploader before clicking through to the result.

The search pages one-up YouTube with some really helpful related search suggestions. Music searches will show a module up at the top for the artist with a photo and a list of other top songs. Watching a video for any of those other songs is just a click away. More suggested videos — even if they don’t specifically match your search — will show up half-way down the page in another module, with more recommendations all the way at the end.

FAR, FAR BETTER THAN VIDEO SEARCH ON GOOGLE.COM

That new feature is just one of a few changes that focus on music videos. Searches for songs will now highlight the “best” result with an extra-large preview. These results are chosen based on relevance and popularity. And you can watch the entire video straight from the search result if you so please.

And, of course, Bing pulls in results from around the web, not just YouTube. Google, too, of course, has its own general video search tool on google.com that pulls in results from multiple sources. But that product is dated and lacks many of the features introduced by Bing’s latest update.

Pope Francis has spent time praying before the Shroud of Turin in a two-day visit to the city this weekend, joining hundreds of thousands who in the past two months have stopped to pay their respects to what some believe is the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.

Although the Vatican has never publicly declared whether it considers the shroud an actual relic belonging to Jesus, Francis told the audience at mass in Turin that the cloth is an “icon of love.”

“The shroud attracts toward the face and the martyred body of Jesus and at the same time pushes us toward the face of those who suffer or are unjustly persecuted,” he said, according to Catholic Herald.

“It pushes us in the direction of the gift that is Jesus’s love.”

The 14-foot cloth, which holds the imprint of a man many believe to be Jesus Christ, is on display to the public for the first time since 2010. It is usually kept sealed inside a container in a chapel next to the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, and has been made available for viewing only five times since 1933.

The authenticity of the shroud continues to be disputed, and a number of tests have been conducted to try and determine its age. While carbon-14 tests in 1988 claimed that the relic is a 13th century forgery, further analysis by scientists found that the fibers tested were from a patch in the shroud, and not part of the original cloth.

Archbishop of Turin Cesare Nosiglia suggested back in April that regardless of whether people believe the shroud really is the burial cloth used to wrap the body of the crucified Christ, it “reflects in a clear and precise manner how the Gospels describe the passion and death of Jesus.”

“It is not a profession of faith because it is not an object of faith, nor of devotion, but it can help faith,” Nosiglia added.

In his Sunday homily, Francis said that the shroud serves as a reminder that people should found their lives upon the “rock” which is Christ.

“The love of God,” Pope Francis said, “is stable and secure” as Jesus shows in the Gospel. He calms the storm of our lives by commanding the winds and sea. For the person at the point of surrender, the Lord “comes to him and offers him the Rock of His Love.”

Francis also called on the people of Turin to seek to include others, rather than exclude those that are different.

“Immigration increases competition, but we don’t have to blame the migrants because they are victims of inequality, of this throwaway economy and the wars,” the Roman Catholic Church leader said, according to Vatican Radio.

“It makes one cry to see the spectacle of these days in which human beings are treated as commercial goods.”
