Christian Post Report – Arsenal celebrate after scoring a goal.

Arsenal continue their defense of the FA Cup as they face Reading at Wembley Stadium in the semi-final of the competition. The match is on April 18, 2015 at 12:20 p.m. ET.

Crowned as champions for the 11th time last year, Arsenal are level with Manchester United as the top two teams with the most number of FA Cups. A win over Reading will help them take one step closer as the most successful club in the competition.

Arsenal booked their place in the semis with a big 2-1 win over United in the sixth round of the competition.

In the match, Nacho Monreal scored the match’s first goal in the 25th minute to give the Gunners an early advantage. Unfortunately, Wayne Rooney leveled the score only after four minutes to set-up an intriguing second half. The game was ultimately put to bed when Danny Welbeck scored against his old club in the 61st minute and Angel di Maria was sent off following a second yellow card to help Arsenal overcome United at Old Trafford.

In terms of form, Arsenal have been very impressive lately, winning eight straight matches across all competitions. Their most recent performance was a 1-0 win over Burnley as they find themselves second in the Premier League table.

On the other hand, Reading are currently 18th in the Championship and have not won in their last five league games.

In all competitions, their last win was their 3-0 win over Bradford City in the sixth round of the FA Cup.

Playing as hosts at Madejski Stadium, Reading got off to a hot start against Bradford as Hal Robson-Kanu and Garath McCleary scored within the first 10 minutes of the match.

Jamie Mackie completed the route in the 68th minute to send them to the semis.

Facing the defending champions, Reading can turn their season around with a big win and a place in the final.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Live Stream: Watch English Premiere League Soccer Online

Christian Post Report – Branislav Ivanovic (left) gets a red card as he clashed with Angel di Maria.

Chelsea try to extend their lead atop the Premiere League table as they host the surging Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The match is on April 18, 2015 and kick-off is at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Winners of their last six, the Red Devils now find themselves third in the league and hold a four-point lead over rivals Manchester City. They are only one point behind Arsenal, who are second in the table and eight points behind Chelsea with only a handful of matches remaining.

United have been impressive and have only lost three league games since November 2014. They have found their scoring touch and now look to continue their climb on the table.

In their most recent win and possibly their most impressive performance, United toppled neighboring rivals City 4-2 behind goals from Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata and Chris Smalling.

Despite conceding early, United never lost focus and dominated the match to pick up three important points and avenge their loss to City earlier this season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have not lost in their last 11 league games and have only tasted defeat once in their last 16. They are also in a three-match win streak against Hull City, Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers as they gear up for their final matches of the season against tough opponents like Arsenal, Liverpool and United.

Diego Costa is a big loss as the Spaniard is out due to a hamstring injury but the Blues have found goals through their talented midfielders like Eden Hazard, Oscar and Cesc Fabregas.

The teams settled for a stalemate in their first meeting this season as they drew 1-1 at Old Trafford. Didier Drogba scored in the 53rd minute and Chelsea looked poised to get three points but Robin van Persie found the back of the net in the fourth minute of injury time to split the points in game week nine.

ISIS Trying to Eliminate Last Christian Speakers of Aramaic, Language That Jesus Spoke

An Iraqi Mandean priest conducts a wedding ceremony for five couples in the ancient Aramaic language on the Tigris river in Baghdad in this undated file photo.

Christian Post Report – Terror group ISIS has reportedly been trying to eliminate and drive off the last Christian speakers of Aramaic, the ancient language that Jesus Christ spoke.

The Associated Press noted in a report that thousands of people from the ancient Christian communities in Syria, known as Assyrians, have fled the region since February due to attacks by the jihadists.

The terror group kidnapped between 250 to 300 Assyrians, and is asking for $30 million for their freedom, or $100,000 per individual.

Fleeing from ISIS follows a pattern of mass migration over the past decade, where scores of Assyrians and other Christians have left Iraq and Syria due to persecution by Muslim extremists.

Eden Naby, a Middle East historian and expert on Assyrian culture, told AP that a grave concern in these developments is that Assyrians are some of the last communities in existence who speak Aramaic, and if they are removed from the Middle East, it is unlikely the language will be preserved.

“Assyrians remain the last Aramaic-speaking people of the world. So the disappearance and displacement of these people pretty much spells the closing chapter of Aramaic use in the world,” Naby said.

Assyrians trace their roots to the region to 6,500 years ago, and are believed to be among some of the earliest people to convert to Christianity. The first century apostles Thomas, Thaddeus and Bartholomew are said by historians to be among the founders of the Eastern Rite churches, to whom most Assyrians belong to.

Groups of Assyrians are scattered across Lebanon and Turkey as well, but the core of the community has lived in Iraq and Syria. Since the late 1980s, however, their numbers have plunged from close to 1.4 million to an estimated 400,000.

“What we have faced is atrocity after atrocity,” said Habib Afram, head of the Syriac League in Lebanon, which represents regional Assyrian issues.

Afram noted that there have been a number of attacks on Assyrians beside the ISIS raid in February in recent years, including the bombing of an Assyrian church in Baghdad in 2010 that killed nearly 60 people.

“They don’t want to just take your land or kick you out of your villages; they want to erase your past, your heritage,” he added.

ISIS has been engaged strongly with erasing culture and heritage from the cities it has conquered throughout the region.

Back in March, the extremists posted photos documenting their destruction of Christian crosses, statues and icons in the churches in Ninawa, Iraq, and replacing them with their infamous black flags.

“They don’t care what it’s called; they are just following their ideology and that means getting rid of churches and minorities. It is the Islamic State, and there’s no room for anyone else,” said MEMRI Director Steven Stalinsky.

“This has been going on for some time, a systematic campaign to rid the region of any vestiges of Christianity.”

Previously ISIS also released videos of militants bulldozing and destroying the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud in Iraq, which was founded in the 13th Century B.C. The jihadists targeted famous statues and archeological treasures, believing them to be “false idols.”

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ News: Trailer, New Posters, Character List (VIDEO)

STAR WARS: The Force Awakens YOUTUBESCREENSHOT

Christian Post Report – “STAR WARS: The Force Awakens” opens in theaters December 18, 2015

The J.J. Abrams-helmed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” just released its second official teaser trailer Thursday.

A new teaser trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” was released April 16, giving fans of the franchise a glimpse of what to expect when the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel makes its theater debut on Dec. 18 this year.

The trailer opens to the voice of Luke Skyalker talking about how strong the force is in his family, and gives a hint he is telling a child, speculated to be either of Princess Leia’s children, Jacen or Jana Solo, about the possessing that same power.

On the screen, audiences are treated to a desolate desert landscape setting scarred by war set in a period following Episode VI after Darth Vader kills Emperor Palpatine. A dogfight inside the crashed hulk of an Imperial Star Destroyer and a chromed Stormtrooper, presumably an important character, is featured, as well as the appearance of an older Han Solo (Harrison Ford) with Chewbacca, who declares joyfully they have finally arrived home.

The release of the new trailer coincides with the Star Wars Celebration, a fan convention in Anaheim, California, where original “Star Wars” actors Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) are slated to attend together with Abrams.

Meanwhile, three new posters have been unveiled yesterday featuring characters from the movie: Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and dozens of stormtroopers. The posters have gone viral on social media with speculations about their source.

Making Star Wars has also posted a complete list of the characters that will be appearing in the movie, which will include the original characters, Han Solo, Leia Organa Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2, with the addition of Rey/Kira, Finn, Kylo, Ren, and Poe Dameron, among the major cast of characters.

The cast from the first three original movies, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford will also star in the new film. Whether Abrams’ “The Force Awakens” will cure fans’ woes and complaints over the three prequels of Episodes I to III remains to be seen.

According to a report in Mashable, the PC version is more than just “a direct copy of the game.” It also brings with it two cool new features – the Rockstar Editor and the Director Mode – which allows the PC player to create new content based on gameplay.

The Rockstar Editor is a built-in video editor that allows users to “tweak and string together a series of recorded clips” into one cohesive video. Users as always will have the option to share their created videos or just keep it to themselves.

The Director Mode gives a different sense of control for PC users. Through this mode, they can “stage their own elaborate set pieces with a greater degree of control” than those available in existing modes of the game.

Both features combined turns the game into something more than just a game – it becomes “a toybox for content creators.” So much custom content can be created with these new tools.

The PC version is also expected to have better visual fidelity if users are using high-end PCs. It is said to run in 4K at 60 frames per second. The recommended set-up for this case is two video cards and an i7 processor according to the IGN report.

The IGN report also lists down the minimum requirements for PCs to run “GTA 5” which includes 4 CPUs, 4GB RAM, an NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB video card, 100% DirectX 10 compatible, and a 65GB HDD space. The recommended requirement needs higher RAM at 8GB and an NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB video card.

15 Muslim Migrants Arrested After Murdering and Throwing 12 Christians Overboard in ‘Religious Hate’ Attack

Migrants rest after they disembarked in the Sicilian harbour of Augusta, April 16, 2015.

Christian Post Report – At least 15 Muslim migrants have reportedly been arrested by Italian police after murdering and throwing overboard 12 other migrants, Christians from Ghana and Nigeria, who were all on a boat heading to Italy.

BBC News reported that the Muslims were arrested when they reached the Sicilian city of Palermo, and were charged with “multiple aggravated murder motivated by religious hate.”

Migrants from various parts in Africa travel to Italy by boat in large numbers every week, often resulting in massive maritime disasters.

In a separate incident earlier this week, close to 10,000 people were rescued from a migrant boat that sank between Libya and Italy, but over 40 drowned. At least 500 people are believed to have died trying to cross the Mediterranean since the beginning of January.

Sky News reported that witnesses saw the Muslim migrants killing and throwing the Christian passengers into the sea after a brawl occurred.

Ebrima Jaiteh, one of the passengers who arrived at the Sicilian port of Trapani, described the journey as “hell.”

“I have been travelling non-stop for months, through many dangerous countries,” he said.

“In Tripoli they treated us like animals. They beat us. They shouted at us. They took all our money.”

He continued: “No human being should have to go through this. I thank God we made it. Many of my friends in different boats did not.”

CNN noted that there were 105 people who left on the rubber boat from Libya on Tuesday on the trip toward Italy. The alleged Muslim assailants are believed to be from the countries of Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal.

Other passengers on the boat, who were not identified, allegedly told Palermo police that they were spared because “they strongly opposed the drowning attempt and formed a human chain.”

Police have not yet explained what led to the clash and the killings, but confirmed that religion was a motive for the attack.

“The motive for the resentment was traced to their faiths,” officers said. “Twelve people are said to have drowned in the waters of the Mediterranean, all of them Nigerian and Ghanaian.”

European Commission spokesperson Natasha Bertaud has said that Italy’s Operation Triton, the border control policy which operates at a little over $3 million a month, is not enough to deal with the high levels of migrants. A record of 170,000 people crossed from Africa and the Middle East to Italy last year, fleeing poverty and conflict.

“We have neither the money nor the political support to launch a European border guard system,” she said.

Bertaud admitted that there is no “silver bullet” for the problem. The Italian government has called on other European Union countries for help, but so far only 22 out of the 28 members support the current system — some, like the U.K., have argued that that the border control policy unintentionally encourages more migrants to attempt the dangerous voyage.

Muslim migrants threw 12 Christians overboard to their deaths during Mediterranean crossing from Libya, say Italian police – report by Daily Mail UK

Daily Mail, UK report – A group of Muslim migrants have been arrested for ‘aggravated murder’ after allegedly throwing 12 Christians into the Mediterranean sea during a recent crossing from Libya, Italian police reports.

Witnesses say a fight broke out on a rubber dinghy carrying more than 100 African migrants from Libya to Sicily, after which the men were thrown to their deaths.

A group of 15 men have now been arrested on suspicion of ‘multiple aggravated murder motivated by religious hate,’ Palermo police said in a statement.

Italian police say they were informed of the alleged attacks by a group of Nigerian and Ghanaian survivors upon their arrival in Palermo, Sicily yesterday.

The survivors said they had boarded a rubber boat on the Libyan coast on April 14, which had 105 passengers aboard.

During the crossing, a fight broke out over religion, with the group of Muslim passengers threatening the Nigerians and Ghanaians after the latter declared themselves to be Christians.

‘The threats then materialised and 12 people, all Nigerian and Ghanaian, are believed to have drowned in the Mediterranean,’ the police statement added.

The 15 migrants arrested over the attack on their arrival in Palermo are from the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali and Guinea Bissau.

The police statement said their motive for the attack was that the victims ‘professed the Christian faith while the aggressors were Muslim.’

This followed reports earlier today of a shipwreck feared to have cost 41 lives off the Italian coast.

Four men, two Nigerians, a Ghanaian and one from Niger, who had been rescued while floating in the Mediterranean by an Italian Navy helicopter reported the shipwreck once they arrived in the Italian port of Trapani today.

They said had left Tripoli in Libya on Saturday and stayed adrift for four days.

The new tragedies come just days after aid agencies reported 400 presumed dead in the sinking of another ship near the Libyan coast.

The deaths have raised calls for a more robust search and rescue of the seas between Libya and Europe amid a surge in migration between the Middle East and Africa toward Italy.

Minnesota Wild vs St. Louis Blues Live Stream: Watch Online NHL Hockey

Christian Post Report – Facing the only Wild Card team to score at least 100 points, the St. Louis Blues will host the Minnesota Wild at Scottrade Center in the first round of the NHL Playoffs. The match is on April 16, 2015 at 9:30 p.m. ET.

St. Louis finished the regular season as the top team in the Central Division. They held a five point lead over the Nashville Predators and were second in the Western Conference behind the Anaheim Ducks, despite being tied on points.

The Blues also finished the regular season strong, winning five of their last six matches including a two-game win streak to close things out.

The NHL is looking to expand has Las Vegas in its sights

Meanwhile, the Wild secured the first Wild Card spot in the West after beating out the Winnipeg Jets who finished with 99 points. They lost their last game of the season, ironically to the Blues, but had won back-to-back games prior to their season ender.

It should be a very interesting match-up between the two teams as they split their four meetings in the regular season.

They first met late in November, with the Blues pulling off a 3-2 penalty shootout win on the road. The action picked up in the second period when the Wild took a 2-1 lead, but David Backes leveled things in the third period to eventually send things to a penalty shootout, where Vladimir Tarasenko sank the winning goal.

In their next two meetings, the Wild got big wins at home and as guests. They won at St. Louis 3-1 before dominating the Blues 6-3 in an exciting match at the Xcel Energy Center.

And in their final meeting of the season, the Blues evened the series with a 4-2 victory behind an inspired performance from Jori Lehtera.

Christian Post Report – Lady Gaga

Taylor Swift has a lot on her mind right now as the singer revealed last week that her mother, Andrea, is battling cancer.

The singer took to her Tumblr page on Thursday, April 9 to break the news to her fans as she wrote, “I’m writing to you with an update I wish I wasn’t giving you, but it’s more important and I’m used to sharing important events in my life with you. I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.” Swift explained that she decided to share the news so that others would be encouraged to check up on their parents’ health.

Within minutes, many of Swift’s fans as well as celebrities took to social media to send their well-wishes for her mother. Among those who reached out to her is Christian Post Report – Lady Gaga, who took to Twitter to write a message of support for the 25-year old singer and her mother.

“God bless you and your mama and family, we’ll all be praying @taylorswift13,” tweeted the “Born This Way” singer.

Gaga and Swift have been friends for almost a year. Last year, the “Applause” singer praised the former country star on “The Howard Stern Show.”

“We met a few times, and I can’t say anything bad about her,” she said. “What she doesn’t know [is] I was at the AMAs or something. Her and I were sitting next to each other and she goes, ‘Oh my God! I love Artpop. I love Applause and Applause is my favorite song.”

“I was thinking, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. This chick is full of [expletive].’ But then my buddy called me. Brandon, who’s my stylist, and she was doing a shoot and he was styling her. He goes, ‘Taylor Swift is in here blasting Artpop so loud, and she is dancing and posing.'”

“I thought to myself, ‘I like this girl.’ You know why? Because she said the same thing to my face that she said behind my back. Yeah, I like her.”
