‘The X-Files’ Returns to Fox With David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Reprising Their Roles

Christian Post Report – Fox is bringing the “The X-Files” with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back on television after the show went off the air 13 years ago following nine successful seasons.

The paranormal cult favorite, “The X-Files” will be returning to Fox after ending its ninth season in March 2002. The pop cultural phenomenon will see the return of its mainstays Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, FBI agent roles played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, respectively.

After news emerged in January 2015 that Fox chairman Dana Walden revealed there had been talks to bring the series back, fans of the show peppered social media with positive reactions that spawned rumors and conjecture.

While earlier speculations saying the sci-fi series revival would gift fans of the show with nine episodes, the new “X-Files” will only be running for a limited run of six.

As soon as news of the revival was officially released, Gillian Anderson went on Twitter to alert fans to confirm the news.

As with the original show, Duchovny will return to reprise his role as an FBI agent whose belief in paranormal phenomena has Anderson’s skeptical character holding him back from his impulsive actions. According to the show’s creator, Chris Carter, the return of “The X-Files” comes at just the right stage to tell strange stories at a time when the world has gotten progressively stranger.

With only six episodes for the returning series, it seem to suggest Fox intends to stick with the original programming of stand-alone mysteries on alien conspiracies, instead of the continuing story arc current television series have adopted.

According to Fox, filming on the new miniseries will begin in the summer, and will bring back all the key players from the original show.

Only two teams are left in the West Region of the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament as the top-seeded Wisconsin Badgers face number two team Arizona Wildcats.

In the second round, Wisconsin took care of Coast Carolina 86-72 with Frank Kaminsky coming up big with 27 points and 12 rebounds. The Badgers led big by the half and continued to pile on the pressure to eliminate their Big South competition.

Next was a match against the Oregon Ducks. The game was much closer than their previous but Wisconsin held their own with Kaminsky again providing for the team with 16 points and seven rebounds. He got help from Sam Dekker, who poured in 17 points as four starters finished the game scoring in double digits.

In the Sweet 16, Wisconsin faced the tough North Carolina Tar Heels and gave them more than they could handle. North Carolina led by the half but Wisconsin rallied in the second frame to prevent the upset-minded underdogs. Dekker scored a game-high 23 points while shooting 10-of-15 from the field. He also pulled down 10 rebounds to finish the game on a high note.

Arizona dominated Texas Southern in the second round, winning big behind Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and his double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. The Wildcats held a 21-point lead to finish the half and eventually won 93-72.

Things were definitely much tougher in the Sweet 16 when they faced the Xavier Musketeers.

Arizona withstood an onslaught by big men Matt Stainbrook and Jalen Reynolds. The former finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds while the latter had 12 points off the bench. The Wildcats responded with 17 from T.J. Mconnell as he also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Kaleb Tarczewski and Stanley Johnson each had 12 points in the 68-60 victory.

The Kentucky Wildcats will try to continue their dominance as they play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament. Tip-off is on March 28, 2015 at 8:49 p.m. ET.

Christian Post Report – Many predicted that Kentucky would go deep into the tournament, but slowly they’ve shown that they are a level above their opponents as they have dominated their way to this stage so far.

In their opening round, they thrashed Hampton 79-56 behind a double-double game from Karl-Anthony Towns. The forward scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while shooting 8-of-12 from the field. Cincinnati were up next for the Wildcats and the Bearcats stood no chance. After keeping the game close at the half, Kentucky turned up the intensity to eventually win 64-51 with Trey Lyles scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds in only 28 minutes on the court.

Finally reaching the Sweet 16, Kentucky were tasked to face 5th seed West Virginia. It took less than a few minutes to determine that the Wildcats outclassed the Mountaineers. The first half ended 44-18 and the result was easily decided. Kentucky doubled WVU’s score 78-39. Lyles led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Andrew Harrison had 13. Three other players scored at least 12 points in a game where the Wildcats held the Mountaineers to 24 percent shooting from the field and an abysmal 13 percent from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame had much closer matches as they booked their place in the last eight. They first beat Northeastern 69-65 with Zach Auguste scoring 25 points while also pulling down five rebounds to help avoid the upset. Jerian Grant added 17 for the Fighting Irish who shot 57 percent from the field in the game.

Next was a meeting against 6th Butler Bulldogs and the game needed to go to overtime before being decided.

In the 67-64 win, Notre Dame turned to Grant to perform in the extra period as he went on to finish the game with 16 points while playing the whole 45 minutes. Steve Vasturia scored a team-high 20 points to help Notre Dame move on to the Sweet 16.

Finally they faced off against Wichita State Shockers who were out to beat another top-seeded team. However, Notre Dame were anchored by Pat Connaughton who finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds while also registering a pair of steals and blocks.

Four of their five starters finished in double figures as they now face probably the biggest test in the tournament

Christian Post Report – The Sooners began their tournament with a match against Am. East’s Albany. TaShawn Thomas and Buddy Hield led Oklahoma to a 69-60 victory. Thomas finished with a game high 18 points while shooting 7-of-11 from the field. He also was a stalwart on the defensive end with four blocks in 32 minutes. Meanwhile, Hield added 15 points despite only going 3-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Next was a match against 11th seed Dayton and things were much closer than their first match.

After a 34-32 half, Oklahoma turned on the defensive pressure in the second half to win 72-66. Jordan Woodard scored 16 points in 35 minutes, he also recorded four steals to stifle Dayton’s backcourt. Frank Booker was a spark from the bench, scoring 12, with all of his points coming from 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Oklahoma also crashed the boards by out-rebounding Dayton 35-23.

Michigan State faced 10th-ranked Georgia in the second round of the tournament and won 70-63.

Denzel Valentine led the team with 16 points as the Spartans held the Bulldogs to only 33 percent shooting from the field. They also limited Georgia to only 4-of-14 from beyond the arc, while they drained 39 percent of their attempts from three.

Up next was 2nd seed Virginia and Michigan State were looking to repeat what they did last season – eliminate the favourites.

Travis Trice played excellent as he dropped 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting while Branden Dawson added 15 points and nine rebounds. Their defense was excellent as the Cavaliers only managed to convert 30 percent from the field and 12 percent from beyond the arc. Paired with their 43 percent shooting and 50 percent from three, Michigan State clearly had Virginia’s number.

Duke will try to continue their dominance in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament as they face Utah in the Sweet 16. The game is on March 27, 2015 and begins at 9:45 p.m. ET, and can be watched on TV on the CBS network or online through live stream (details below).

Christian Post Report – The Blue Devils began the tournament against Robert Morris of NEC and took off as expected by many. They led big at the half and continued to pour on the pressure until they eventually won 85-56. Robert Morris could not find an answer for Duke’s players, especially center Jahlil Okafor who scored 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Quinn Cook had another superb game with 22 points while also dishing out five assists and three steals.

Duke shot the ball with great efficiency, draining 63 percent of their shots and 48 percent from beyond the arc.

Up next was a match against San Diego State and though it was a different team, the results were the same. Okafor drilled 26 points while pulling down six rebounds and blocking three shot attempts, while Justise Winslow completed a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Just like in their first game, they shot well from the field, but they also held San Diego State to 33 percent shooting and 15 percent from beyond the arc.

Utah faced-off against SF Austin in the second round and despite the close result, they were firmly in control.

Leading 26-19 at the end of the half, Utah eventually won 57-50. Jakob Poeltl had a nearly flawless game as he finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots. More impressive was that he went 7-of-7 from the field in 33 minutes of play. Jordan Loveridge added 12 points in the victory as Utah held off a game opponent.

Next was a tougher opponent in the Georgetown Hoyas. Ranked one seed higher than Utah, many expected this to be a close match. After the half, they were tied at 32. However, four of Utah’s five starters scored in double figures to outscore the Hoyas by 11 points in the second half to eventually win 75-64.

Houston Rockets News: Howard Back in the Line-Up, Beverly to Undergo Surgery

Christian Post Report – After getting Dwight Howard back from several weeks of absence due to injury, the Houston Rockets again received bad news.

According to ESPN, Rockets starting point guard Patrick Beverley could undergo surgery, and possibly end his season prematurely. Beverley tore his ligaments in his left wrist during the team’s win against Indiana. The injury reportedly caused swelling and pain.

The guard reportedly consulted a doctor in Houston, but is looking for other options for the treatment of his injury. According to an insider, the entire team is hoping that a favorable prognosis would be needed after a re-evaluation of the injury.

Beverley, who is averaging 10.1 points and 3.4 assists a game, would be a huge loss for Houston in the backcourt. Not known for his offensive prowess, the 26-year-old guard is among the team’s best defenders and guard stoppers.

Meanwhile, in case Beverley does undergo surgery, he would be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Taking his place would be veterans Jason Terry and Pablo Prigioni. Unfortunately for the Rockets, the two has not adjusted yet.

During Houston’s match against New Orleans, Terry only registered two points and three assists in 27 minutes. Meanwhile, Prigioni did a little better with his two points and four assists in 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, those numbers and performances may not be enough to back-up James Harden in his scoring, especially during the playoffs.
