Blumhouse Productions’ upcoming horror-thriller film “Insidious: Chapter 3”

Christian Post Report – The latest international trailer for Blumhouse’s upcoming horror thriller offering “Insidious: Chapter 3” was released last week and for those who missed it doesn’t have to bother themselves looking for the video.

The trailer, as indicated by Enstarz.com, offered pretty much nothing new as to what has been unveiled in the first teaser last year.

The clip, tagged with the “darkest chapter,” features Dermot Mulroney playing the father named Sean to Stefanie Scott’s Sue. Same as the previous sneak peek, Sue is seen being wheeled in by her dad into their new apartment.

The horror ensues as the badly injured character retires to her bedroom and heard a mysterious knocking from the other side of her room’s wall.

Touted to be more hauntingly terrifying as the first two installments, the new film series will see yet another unsuspecting family taken into the otherworld known as “The Further.”

The upcoming film is also reported to predate the haunting of the Lambert family which was featured in the two previous movies. Furthermore, it will offer fans a deeper insight into the mysteries of the otherworldly realm and its hostile ghostly inhabitants.

Joining Mulroney and Scott are Lin Shaye who will play as Elise Rainier, Leigh Whannel as Specs, Angus Sampson as Tucker, Hayley Kiyoko as Maggie, Ashton Moio as Hector, Steve Coulter as Carl, and Elle Keats as Lilith.

Blumhouse executive producer and founder Jason Blum meanwhile informed the media that Insidious 3 and Sinister 2 might be the first step for the production house to follow the shared world trend currently popularized by Marvel on its Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“We’re not close to an ‘Avengers’, but I do like the idea of having the worlds collide in the different franchises we work on. That’s a really cool idea … I want to continue to do that,” Blum said.

“Insidious: Chapter 3” is slated to hit the theaters this June 5, 2015.

Christian Post Report – The Miami Heat continue their run to make it to the playoffs as they host the Portland Trail Blazers at the American Airlines Arena in the NBA. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. on March 18, 2015.

With a 30-36 record, the Heat are eighth in the Eastern Conference – holding on to the last playoff spot. They are holding off the Boston Celtics, who have the same record but have inferior head-to-head results against the Heat. Moreover, Dwyane Wade and the Heat are coming off a big home with over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With LeBron James’ return to South Florida, it was Wade who played big. The Flash scored 32 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field. Hassan Whiteside continued his impressive showing for Miami, securing a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Their defense held James to 42 percemt on the field and only two rebounds after 36 minutes on the floor.

Meanwhile, the Blazers had their three-game win streak broken in a 105-97 loss to the Washington Wizards.

In the loss, Damian Lillard scored 14 points while shooting a poor 28 percent from the field. LaMarcus Aldridge carried the scoring load with 24, while also grabbing 12 rebounds. The loss gave Portland a 44-21 record and are now 1.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies while only 0.5 ahead of the Houston Rockets.

When the two teams met earlier this year at the Moda Center, Portland won 99-83.

Aldridge had another had 24 points and 12 rebounds again, while Wesley Matthews scored 18 while going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Wade scored 23 points but was only 75 percent from the free throw line. Chris Bosh added 18 but the Heat were a poor 3-of-14 from beyond the arc. In addition, they were out-hustled by the Blazers who outrebounded them 50-42.

Both teams will be missing key players as Matthews is out for Portland while Miami will still play without Bosh.

Christian Post Report – Another Pacific Division battle ensues as the NHL defending champions Los Angeles Kings travel to the Honda Center to face the Anaheim Ducks. The match is on March 18, 2015 and the puck drops at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Both teams are coming off victories as the Ducks have a two-game win streak after beating the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators.

They are at the top of the Western Conference with 95 points and are poised to win the Pacific Division as they currently hold a 13-point lead over the Vancouver Canucks.

The Ducks are nursing a number of injuries. Korbinian Holzer is sidelined with a concussion and is listed as day-to-day. Meanwhile, Tim Jackman suffered a leg injury and is scheduled to return late March to early April.

For the Kings, their most recent result came in a 1-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes. The defending champions have now won three of their last four and are now within one point of taking second place in the division.

Jarret Stoll has joined Alec Martinez and Tanner Pearson in the injury list for the Kings as he suffered an upper body injury last week and is listed as day-to-day.

The two teams have met four previous times this season, with Anaheim leading the season series 3-1.

Their last match with the Ducks as host resulted in a 4-2 win for Anaheim, with Corey Perry scoring two crucial goals.

Los Angeles got to an early lead in the contest, with Trevor Lewis scoring in the first period. Brayden McNabb doubled the Kings’ lead in the second period and the visitors looked to pull away.

However, Ryan Kesler had other plans as he scored in the 45th minute to cut the lead in half, with Emerson Etem scoring less than two minutes after to even the score.

From there, Perry would take over as he scored twice in the game’s last 10 minutes to seal the victory.

The New Orleans Saints have retooled their lineup and dealt with a tricky salary cap situation

Christian Post Report – At first glance it looked like the New Orleans Saints were in a full on rebuilding mode. They were very active in the opening days of NFL free agency, and there were rumors that everyone on their roster was available via trade. However, taking a look at what the Saints have added it seems very clear that they are managing a pretty terrible cap situation while adding the pieces the need to remain competitive on the field.

The Saints traded away Jimmy Graham, a year after signing him to a large contract extension, and Ben Grubbs. They cut Curtis Lofton and Pierre Thomas. They reworked the deal of Jairus Byrd, Marques Colston, and Junior Galette. All of this moves made it look like they were entering a full on rebuild effort. However, these were all moves made to get their cap situation under control, and the Saints have added talent as well as big contracts.

They got back C Max Unger in the Graham trade. The signed free agent RB CJ Spiller and CB Brandon Browner. They made the moves they had to make to manage their cap but as long as QB Drew Brees remains with the team the Saints’ cap situation is going to remain difficult. That is especially true next year when his cap hit grows to 27 million dollars.

Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk sums up the cap situation in New Orleans:

“Ultimately, the Saints are going to be in bad cap shape as long as Brees is on the team. Brees has been a great player in New Orleans and deserves the money he makes, but the contract he signed in 2012 is enormous, and it was structured so that the cap hits at the end of the deal are huge. This year, the Saints have chosen to do what they can with the rest of the roster while keeping Brees and staying in bad cap shape. Next year, the Saints may decide it’s finally time to get the cap under control, and trade Brees’s huge cap hit to another team.”

Joe Nathan continues to struggle, what will the Detroit Tigers do?

Christian Post Report – Joe Nathan was penciled in as the Detroit Tigers closer for the 2015 season. He is in the second year of a 20 million dollar contract signed last off season. He had a very rocky 2014 campaign as the closer for the team in 2014 and was booed so often at home that he reacted to the crowd flipping them the middle finger.

The hope for the Tigers, who have talent concerns throughout their bullpen, was that Nathan would be able to bounce back. So far in Spring Training it looks like Nathan is completely done.

In just 4.2 innings pitched this spring Nathan has an ERA of 7.71. Worse than that is he is not fooling anyone with any of his pitches. While he hasn’t been wild, only walking 2 hitters, he has given up 7 hits, and six runs, four of those being earned. Those numbers are not good but given the situation in the pen for the Tigers it still seems likely the Tigers will head north with Nathan on the roster.

The team does have options here, and spent the off season stockpiling arms for a bullpen that has been the club’s weakness for the last several years. Joakim Soria is a better option as the closer and has been more effective that Nathan recently. That talent has not been seen much in Detroit after Soria suffered an oblique strain shortly after being acquired. The Tigers also resigned Joba Chamberlain this off season, he was without a doubt the most effective Tigers relievers a year ago. Even though he struggled down the stretch some.

The Tigers also have Bruce Rondon returning from Tommy John surgery, Al Albuquerque, along with several young starters that could use a season of seasoning in the bullpen. However, it seems at this point the best option for the team is to not assign roles in their bullpen. Instead of one guy being the closer and one guy being the set up guy, and another being the 7th inning guy Manager Brad Ausmus should get a feel for his relievers and put them into situations where they can help the team win on a game by game basis.

Media outlet Extra caught up with the 42-year-old Colombian star who appeared during the Los Angeles Paley Fest panel discussion event for her hit TV show in March 14 and was asked to shed off some light about her wedding plans.

“I don’t know, how can something be postponed when it has never been set? It’s really funny,” Vergara told Us Magazine.

The conversation later on indicates that although the date for their big day hasn’t been set yet, she did however enjoyed making the preparations with loved ones.

“It’s always a lot of fun for girls to plan the wedding,” Sofia shared.

Us Weekly meanwhile pointed out that though the actress/businesswoman previously suggested a fall wedding with Manganiello, it does seems like they will settle for a summer event.

“I always get upset, because my favorite job of all the jobs I do is going to work on the set of Modern Family,” she said at the PaleyFest Panel. “It’s like a family. Now I have four months of hiatus.”

Other than her busy schedule with the ABC TV sitcom, Sofia still has other things to attend to including the forthcoming action-comedy flick which she starred with Reese Witherspoon.

“I’m going to be promoting Hot Pursuit, it comes out May 8 with Reese Witherspoon. So the rest of March and April is going to be promoting a movie. Then hopefully I’ll get to do something else during the hiatus,” she added.

Both Sofia and the “True Blood” actor began dating back in July last year. The latter has reportedly proposed to the “Happy Feet Two” voice-actress while they were on a Christmas vacation in Hawaii.

After one season in the NFL, and at age 24 Chris Borland has retired

One year ago Chris Borland was a third round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers. Borland has a promising rookie campaign for the Niners starting 8 games racking up 84 tackles and two picks. The Niners already lost LB Patrick Willis to an early retirement and were counting on Borland to be a key piece of their Line backing corps in the future. However, at the age of 24 Borland is retiring after just one NFL season and his reasoning for this decision is the threat of sever head trauma.

“I just honestly want to do what’s best for my health. From what I’ve researched and what I’ve experienced, I don’t think it’s worth the risk,” he told Pro Football Talk. “I feel largely the same, as sharp as I’ve ever been, for me it’s wanting to be proactive. I’m concerned that if you wait [until] you have symptoms, it’s too late. … There are a lot of unknowns. I can’t claim that ‘X’ will happen. I just want to live a long healthy life, and I don’t want to have any neurological diseases or die younger than I would otherwise.”

After being drafted Borland signed a four year deal with a signing bonus of over $600,000. The 49ers can try to recover two thirds of that bonus money. He was set to make $800,000 for the next few years, but Borland looked to be one of those talents that could have made a lot of money in the NFL. However he felt that the risk of his long term health was greater than any amount of money.

Borland has joined a growing group of players under the age of 30 to retire prematurely from the game of football. If young players continue to make decisions like this one the game of football could forever be changed.

Apple’s dedicated streaming service for television is set to launch in the fall, featuring 25 channels, including most of the major broadcast networks.

Christian Post Report – Apple has announced it will be launching its web TV streaming service in September with approximately 25 channels, including ABC, CBS, and Fox networks. This news follows Apple’s standalone digital TV partnership with HBO Now to exclusively host the cable network’s shows starting April.

With Apple TV seen only as a supplement to existing TV and cable service, its upcoming streaming offer will breathe new life into the company’s 8-year-old digital media player.

Speculations have also emerged the new web television service will be unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June, while subscription rates for the dedicated streaming service will cost anywhere from $20 to $40 per month.

Meanwhile Apple is currently in talks with other major media companies like Disney, 20th Century Fox, ESPN, and Discovery Channel to add to their service bundle.

Unlike other cable TV providers offering a bloated catalogue of channels, the tech giant is looking at a smaller bundle of popular heavy hitters, while offering a lower streaming subscription rate.

However, it has declined to stream content from NBCUniversal due to Apple’s quarrel with Comcast Corp., NBC’s parent company.

Apple’s 25-channel streaming service will be made available on all of its iOS devices, including Apple TV boxes, iPhones and iPads.

With its new streaming offering, Apple, joins the list of other media, tech, and telecom companies who will be introducing their own digital television services this year to target the current generation of viewers who prefer to subscribe to an Internet service over traditional cable TV.

Christian Post Report – Is Taylor Swift dating Calvin Harris?

The two sparked dating rumors after the “Shake it Off” singer jetted to Las Vegas to see the DJ. Swift was reportedly joined by her friends Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding and the Haim sisters as she flew from Los Angeles to watch the “Summer” hitmaker perform at Hakkasan.

According to Heat, fans spotted the pop star dancing at the back of the stage while Harris DJed at the venue, noting that she was “staring” at the 33-year-old. The magazine reports that the DJ, who has a three-year residency with Hakkasan, chartered a private jet for Swift’s group to travel in style to his concert.

The pair was first seen deep in conversation at the Universal BRIT’s afterparty last month.

“After meeting up at 11:45pm they didn’t leave each other’s sides and spent eight minutes laughing and whispering into each other’s ears while everyone else around them partied,” a source told Heat. “They lost each other during a quick [bathroom] break, leaving Calvin flapping around and asking his mates, ‘Where is she?’. But Taylor soon returned and their flirtation continued until 2am.”

Harris is newly single after splitting from his model girlfriend Aarika Wolf. It has been reported that the DJ broke up with Wolf around the same time as the BRIT’s.

“Calvin and Aarika split around the same time of the BRIT’s last month,” The Sun reports. “They were both into each other for a long time but it just didn’t work out and they’ll stay friends.”

Swift’s and Harris’ reps have yet to comment on the dating rumors.

Christian Post Report – Emma Thompson and Kevin Kline have been cast in the live action Disney film “Beauty and the Beast,” which will premiere in theaters in the first quarter of 2017.

Disney has announced a March 17, 2017 3D release date for its live action film, “Beauty and the Beast,” and has added Emma Thompson and Kevin Kline to its cast of characters.

Academy Award winner Thompson, who previously worked with the lead actress, Emma Watson in the “Harry Potter” movies will play opposite Watson’s Belle as Mrs. Potts, the housekeeper-turned-teapot voiced by Angela Lansbury in the 1991 Disney animated version.

Kline, also an Oscar winner, will be playing Belle’s inventor father, Maurice. Kline has won two Tony Awards for his musical stints in Broadway, and will be showcasing his singing in the film.

Gaston’s faithful and bumbling sidekick has also been cast. Josh Gad, who voiced the sun-loving snowman, Olaf in “Frozen,” will be playing Lefou to Luke Evans’ vain Gaston.

“Beauty and the Beast,” unlike this year’s live action film, “Cinderella,” will be featuring the original songs sung in the animated version, to be performed by the cast, which includes “Downton Abbey’s” Dan Stevens as the Beast.

Disney has yet to announce the casting for the Beast’s household retinue, including Chip, Lumiere and Fifi. With production on the film to commence in London in May, news of the actors to play the remaining roles may emerge in the next few weeks.

The film will be directed by “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’s” Bill Condom under Mandeville Films’ production. Allan Menken, who scored the original and won two Academy Awards for it, will also provide the score for the live action movie.

Following the live action versions of “Cinderella” and “Beauty and the Beast,” Disney has plans for “The Jungle Book” and an “Alice in Wonderland” sequel as encores.
