“I Still Believe” Opens at No. 1 Despite Slow Box Office

Despite low theater attendance due to the nationwide precautions to avoid the coronavirus, moviegoers were out to support the faith-based film “I Still Believe,” which opened Friday at No. 1.

The Lionsgate film, made with a budget of $12 million, brought in over $9 million in ticket sales over the weekend, causing it to rank at No. 1 on Friday, beating out Sony’s “Bloodshot” and Disney’s “Onward.” Weekend totals show the film at No. 2 overall.

“I Still Believe” chronicles the story of how the award-winning Christian singer Jeremy Camp fell in love with and married Melissa Lynn Henning, who died in 2001, less than a year after they were wed.

Upon learning of the film’s No. 1 ranking on Friday, Camp took to social media with a message to his supporters.

“Jeremycampofficial Thanks to everyone who went out yesterday to support the film. I know times are crazy and uncertain right now, but we should never be controlled by fear. Stay healthy and remember God is in control! Love you guys! #istillbelieve,” he wrote on Instagram.

Passion Music’s Brett Younker Talks Directing Young Christians to Worship Jesus, Fighting Against Sickness and Anxiety, and What He Hopes Listeners Will Take from Their New Album “Roar”

Passion Music kicked off 2020 by leading 65,000 students in worshiping Jesus at the Passion 2020 conference and the band believes worship is the answer to the world’s troubles today.

Their latest album, Roar, was recorded live at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, during the Passion 2020 conference. The band, led by Kristian Stanfill, Brett Younker, and Melodie Malone ushered in the new decade with a declaration of faith for attendees from across the world.

The Passion 2020 Conference also featured the band’s sixstepsrecords label mates: Crowder, Sean Curran, Hillsong United, Kari Jobe, and Cody Carnes. All of the artists are also featured on the Roar albumThe 12 song project features songs from the conference as well as the hit songs, “There’s Nothing That Our God Can’t Do” and “King of Glory.”

The following is an edited transcript of The Christian Post’s interview with Passion worship leader and songwriter Brett Younker who describes the heart behind their new album and what the band hopes listeners take from the worship experience.

Christian Post: Passion Conference 2020 was attended by 65,000 people who you led in worship. What was that experience like?

Younker: My favorite moment was our final set. We led our favorite songs with all our friends and leaders who were a part of the whole conference. Everything felt so free. You had a real sense that God was stirring up people’s hearts to send them back to their campuses and all over the world.

CP: Passion has such a unique perspective to lead worship and usher 65,000 people into the presence of God. What do you see this generation needing in worship? What are they responding to?

Younker: This generation is searching for identity and validation. What I love about Passion is that we talk about all of that being found in Jesus. We can try and find significance in a relationship, career or even ourselves, but our souls will be disappointed and dissatisfied.

I believe the students at Passion realize that when we say yes to Jesus, we can live for something so much greater than ourselves. In the process, we find out who we are and how our lives can have meaning. It’s so inspiring to stand with a generation of students who want to spend their lives living for the glory of God.

CP: People seem to be feeling a sense of anxiety these days with the political and social climate and fear of sickness. How does Passion play a role in this?

Younker: For sure, I believe worship helps our perspective. When you worship you stop staring at your problem or your pain and you look at Jesus. We still have to deal with reality, but we realize we are in a relationship with the King of Glory, the Lord strong and mighty. So we don’t have to deal [with it] alone. We have Jesus. Worship music becomes the soundtrack of truth in our life.

CP: How did you become a part of Passion Music?

Benny Gantz Is Tasked with Forming Unity Government

Benny Gantz Is Tasked with Forming Unity Government

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has announced that Benny Gantz will be tasked with forming a new government in the country.

According to the Associated Press, Gantz has one month to form a government.

Previously, Israel has been led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and while Netanyahu’s Likud party earned more votes in a March 2 election, he only earned 58 votes from lawmakers.

Gantz’s Blue and White party, however, earned a majority of 61 votes, leaving Rivlin to choose Gantz.

Political experts say it’s possible Gantz will not be able to create a unity government by the deadline. In previous elections, lawmakers have not approved a united government. If this happens again, the country will head to its fourth election in about a year.

“Anyone who has watched the news in recent days understands that this is a time of trial, and that these are not regular consultations,” Rivlin said earlier Sunday. “We must now deal with forming a government as soon as possible … at this complex time.”

Netanyahu has served as prime minister for some 11 years. Reports say that he has asked Gantz to work with him to form an emergency united government, but it’s unclear if Gantz will accept the offer.

Netanyahu formally extended an offer Sunday to Gantz to join an emergency government aimed at stopping the spread of the virus. In one suggestion, Netanyahu offered an alternating leadership system between them…

PODCAST: Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading #110: Numbers 24, Psalm 127, and Romans 8 with Daniel Whyte III

This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #110. Where I read three chapters of the Holy Bible in the King James Version a day with my family as a part of our family devotions, to encourage you to read the Holy Bible in a year’s time. Today we are reading Numbers 24, Psalm 127 and Romans 8.

John Wycliffe said, “All Christian life is to be measured by Scripture; by every word thereof.”

Joyce Meyer said, “It is not about reading the Word. It is about obeying the Word.”

Numbers 24
1 And when Ba’-laam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Is’-ra-el, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 And Ba’-laam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Is’-ra-el abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

3 And he took up his parable, and said, Ba’-laam the son of Be’-or hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

5 How goodly are thy tents, O Ja’-cob, and thy tabernacles, O Is’-ra-el!

6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than A’-gag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8 God brought him forth out of E’-gypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10 And Ba’-lak’s anger was kindled against Ba’-laam, and he smote his hands together: and Ba’-lak said unto Ba’-laam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.

12 And Ba’-laam said unto Ba’-lak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

13 If Ba’-lak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

14 And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

15 And he took up his parable, and said, Ba’-laam the son of Be’-or hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Ja’-cob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Is’-ra-el, and shall smite the corners of Mo’-ab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

18 And E’-dom shall be a possession, Se’-ir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Is’-ra-el shall do valiantly.

19 Out of Ja’-cob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

20 And when he looked on Am’-a-lek, he took up his parable, and said, Am’-a-lek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.

21 And he looked on the Ke’-nites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.

22 Nevertheless the Ke’-nite shall be wasted, until Assh’-ur shall carry thee away captive.

23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!

24 And ships shall come from the coast of Chit’-tim, and shall afflict Assh’-ur, and shall afflict E’-ber, and he also shall perish for ever.

25 And Ba’-laam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Ba’-lak also went his way.

Psalm 127
A Song of degrees for Sol’-o-mon.
1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Romans 8
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Je’-sus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Je’-sus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Je’-sus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Ab’-ba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Je’-sus our Lord.

PRAY
________

When I was a teenager I wanted to get wisdom and knowledge, so I set out the read the big family Bible that many families had in those days. But I couldn’t get past Genesis 2 before I got bored with reading the Bible. I found out later in life that you have to believe on Christ and get saved before you can understand the Bible. So here is how I became a Christian and how you can too:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:8: “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. Jesus Christ said in John 10:9, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please email me at [email protected] and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop.

God loves you. We love you. And may God bless you.

The Story of Rosa and Vasily

Vasily and Rosa Zhugylov are child/family coordinators for Mercy Projects in Ukraine. I have known them many years but recently during a training seminar in Kyiv, I spent some time with this very special couple. Amazingly, they spent their 17th wedding anniversary at the seminar, as they did not want to miss it. (- Jeff Thompson, MP President/Founder) Read the full story from the Mercy Projects newsletter at MercyProjects.org.

The Story of Rosa and Vasily

“Originally I am from Kyiv. In the Soviet Union times, of course no one talked about God. Churches were mostly forbidden. I remember when I was about nine years old; I really wanted to know about God. There was no Jeff, no Mercy Projects mission in Ukraine to explain it to me. I asked my mum: “What happens when we die? Will we just stop being alive? We will never exist again?” She said: “Yes, son, never.” I remember crying myself to sleep that night.

I was raised without God, and like most of my friends, I began to drink alcohol and get in trouble. I did my compulsory Soviet military service, and after that worked at a factory. I began stealing stuff, pretty much like everyone else, but my thefts became serious. Eventually I served my sentence in a maximum security regime at Cherkassy-62 prison.

In the prison, I met Pastor Anatoly Perepalitsa. He preached the Gospel to us and I repented there. They baptized me in prison in 1994. The Christian group grew so quickly that they needed a bigger meeting room. Our congregation grew to around 150 men. The prison director allowed us to build a House of Prayer on the prison territory.

I was released in 1997 and began to evangelize everywhere I could. A few years later I worked at a private ice-cream production factory in Kyiv. The owner was not a believer but he liked to hire Christians because they did not steal the ice cream. He always put the Christian workers on the night shift because unbelievers would steal from him at night. The owner totally trusted Christians and this is why Rosa was also hired.

In a college setting, Jeremy met Melissa Henning and wanted to know her deeply.  “Melissa was amazing,” he recalls.  “She was just a very happy person—a very joyous person.”

Barely a month into their relationship, Jeremy felt compelled to use the “L” word.  Melissa appeared shocked and told him she was not ready for the depth of commitment that reciprocating “I love you” would require.  “Embarrassed and devastated,” Jeremy was sure he had torpedoed this relationship for good.  She soon broke up with him.

Jerry Falwell, Jr. Questions If Coronavirus Is a North Korean-Chinese Bioweapon

Jerry Falwell, Jr. Questions If Coronavirus Is a North Korean-Chinese Bioweapon

Friday morning on Fox News’ Fox & Friends, president of Liberty University and Trump supporter Jerry Falwell, Jr, questioned if COVID-19 was the result of a joint effort by China and North Korea to wreak havoc on the U.S.

Falwell recalled, “The owner of a restaurant asked me last night, he said, ‘You remember the North Korean leader promised us a Christmas present for America, back in December? Could it be they got together with China and this is that present?'”

The university president responded, “I don’t know, but it really is something strange going on.”

As The Hill pointed out, China has experienced far greater consequences from the virus than the U.S. The country has reported over 80,000 cases while the U.S. stands at just over 3,400 cases.

Falwell was originally on the show to discuss college campuses opting for online classes. Unlike hundreds of colleges across the country, Liberty University, according to Relevant magazine, has not canceled in-person classes for its 15,000 students, in part because of Falwell’s belief that the response has been overblown.

In addition to blaming international leaders for the pandemic, Falwell also pointed fingers at Trump’s political adversaries.

“It’s strange to me how so many are overreacting. The H1N1 virus in 2009 killed 7,000 people and there was not the same hype. You didn’t see it on the news 24/7 and it makes you…

Jonathan Cahn Calls for National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance at the National Mall on September 26, 2020

Jonathan Cahn, known as a prophetic voice and author of New York Times’ bestsellers—The Harbinger, The Book of Mysteries, The Paradigm and his latest book, The Oracle—has announced “The Return,” the National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance, on Sept. 26, 2020, 40 days before the election and on the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower.

The day will center on a gathering at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., based on 2 Chronicles 7:14. Joining Cahn in The Return are some of the most influential evangelical leaders from across the United States, from Dr. James Dobson to Pat Robertson; Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz; Martin Luther King’s niece, Alveda King; Kevin Jessup; Michele Bachmann; Marcus Lamb; Bishop Harry Jackson; Gordon Robertson—and many, many more.

Gatherings of The Return and events of prayer and repentance will also take place across the country in state capitals, churches and homes, as well as in nations around the world.

Cahn, who became internationally known for his first book The Harbinger, which warns that America’s course is heading to judgment, has stated that the nation and the world is at a juncture that can permanently seal its future for bad or good, calamity or revival.

Cahn says in a video on The Return website, “America and much of western civilization, was founded on a biblical foundation stone, but it has turned away from that foundation. We have not only driven God out of our public life, and have called what is good evil and what is sin, good, but we have sacrificed the lives of over 60 million unborn children. And America’s fall from God is not only progressing—it’s accelerating—to the point that it is no longer just a falling away, but a war against the purposes of God.

“I wrote in ‘The Harbinger’ of the signs of judgment that appeared in the last days of ancient Israel—warning of calamity—that these same signs of warning have now appeared on American soil. The biblical template concerning judgment is that the nation so warned is given a space of time—to return or to head for judgment and calamity. We are now in that window of time, but if America continues on its present course, that window will come to an end and there will come a flood that will begin the end of religious freedom, even usher in persecution and seal America’s fall. And if America falls, it will affect the entire world.”

Cahn goes on to say that 2020 is crucial as it leads to a presidential election in which the stakes are higher and the necessity of prayer is more critical than ever before. And even if the election goes in the direction of biblical values and righteousness—if America doesn’t see a spiritual turning, an awakening, repentance and revival—then all political, legal, judicial and cultural efforts will ultimately fail or be undone.
