Mark Zuckerberg Says He’s Continuing to ‘Become More Religious’

When an on-stage interviewer recently asked Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, “Who are your mentors? Who do you call for advice?” he replied, “It’s different people for different things.” But then he immediately said, “I’ve become more religious.”

“Really,” said interviewer Cliff Betts, who sounded a bit surprised.

Zuckerberg tried to explain, saying, “I mean, that’s not really a mentorship thing, … but I do think that there’s a scale.

“I don’t know, the last few years have been really humbling for me. I thought I like knew a lot about how to build something and I don’t know. I think that there’s just a comfort in knowing and having confidence that there are things that are bigger than you.”

Zuckerberg was interviewed Jan. 31 at the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit in Salt Lake City.

Zuckerberg and his flagship social media platform have recently faced complaints of anti-conservative bias and election influencing. After government investigations, the enterprise has attempted to mend its reputation.

The challenges of running a social media empire that also includes Instagram might be driving 35-year-old Zuckerberg’s feelings of humility. But also during the past few years, other experiences might have been clues to his move to a “more religious” life, which involves his family. He said they would always be more important to him than his work.

“I try to put my…

Jackson State University President and His Female Employee Are Caught in the Act After They ‘Arrive at Hotel to Meet a Prostitute Together’ – This is a Crying Shame

The president of Jackson State University has been arrested alongside a fellow employee as part of a prostitution sting in central Mississippi that involved 15 others.

William Bynum Jr., 57, and Shonda McCarthy were taken into custody this weekend after they responded to ad for prostitution services, listed on the ‘dark web’.

After agreeing on services with an undercover officer, they arrived together to the Fairfield Inn hotel near Interstate 20, where others were arrested for charges including prostitution and promoting prostitution.

‘We do believe that they arrived at the hotel together,’ spokesperson Mark Jones told the New York Post Tuesday.

William Bynum Jr., 57, and Shonda McCarthy were taken into custody this weekend after they responded to ad for prostitution services, listed on the ‘dark web’. After agreeing on services with an undercover officer, they arrived together to the Fairfield Inn hotel near Interstate 20, where others were arrested for charges including prostitution and promoting prostitution

Bynum had been president of Jackson State since 2017 after serving four years as president of Mississippi Valley State University. McCarthy, 46, the director of the Jackson State University art galleries

When asked why they were together, the rep said: ‘It’s pure speculation at this point. I guess that will come out at another time.’

Bynum was arrested late Saturday or early Sunday and charged with procuring services of a prostitute, false statement of identity and simple possession of marijuana.

When asked if Bynum tried to convince police he was someone else, Clinton Police Chief Ford Hayman said in a press conference Monday: ‘Without getting into particulars, yes, he was charged with that – providing a false identity.’

But he wouldn’t elaborate on their connection.

‘They were arrested,’ the police chief said Monday in a news conference. ‘It’s an ongoing investigation. As everybody that was arrested in this operation, an ad was online and they saw that ad, they called and set this up with our undercover officers. So that’s to the extent I can answer that question.’

According to the Clarion Ledger, he has been married for four decades and has six children.

He was released from jail Sunday after posting $3,000 bail. Bynum submitted his resignation Monday and it took effect immediately.

Within hours, the governing board for Mississippi’s eight public universities met and named another Jackson State administrator, Thomas Hudson, as interim president. Hudson has been special assistant to the president and chief diversity officer.

Bynum had been president of the 5,300-student Jackson State since 2017 after serving four years as president of Mississippi Valley State University.

A biography of Bynum on the Jackson State University website said his personal and professional motto is, ‘Look back and thank God. Look forward and trust God. Look around and serve God. Look within and find God.’

Bynum faced protests from some alumni and students when he was first chosen for the Jackson State presidency because he was not among the three initial finalists.

The university was having financial problems after overspending by a previous president. Bynum said the university would face three to five years of austerity.

‘I understand I may not be your choice,’ Bynum told one angry student in 2017. ‘All I say to you is, watch me work.’

McCarthy, 46, the director of the Jackson State University art galleries, was charged with procuring services of a prostitute and possession of marijuana while operating a motor vehicle.

McCarthy went by Shon (or Shonda) McCarthy Simmons in 2015, according to the Jackson Free Press.

‘For the little girl who fell in love with wrestling & was determined to make this dream a reality – this is for you. I’m beyond thankful for this opportunity & ready to get after it. Let’s do this,’ she said.

The 5-foot-10-inch Simone is being trained by a coaching staff lead by Performance Center head coach Matt Bloom (known as Prince Albert in his WWE Superstar days) and assistant head coach Sara Amato.

‘Simone knows she has a lot to learn. She’s hungry to learn and picks the coaches’ minds, and the veteran Superstars’, as well. She’s not going to rest on her laurels. It’s been a short time, but she’s been crushing it.’

‘Simone is a wonderful girl,’ Amato added. ‘She’s like a sponge, it’s pretty amazing. She knows what it takes to succeed and all the hard work and sacrifice that goes into it. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.’

Florida Republican Proposes Bill to Outlaw Sex Change Surgery for Kids

Florida Republican Proposes Bill to Outlaw Sex Change Surgery for Kids

A Florida Republican has proposed legislation that seeks to ban gender reassignment surgery and treatment for children.

The legislation, put forward by State Rep. Anthony Sabatini, stipulates a $10,000 fine or 15 years in prison for any doctor who facilitates gender reassignment treatment for minors.

Sabatini said that he sponsored the bill in response to a lack of information regarding the risks associated with undergoing gender reassignment as a child.

“It’s the wild west … there’s no real guidelines, laws, no real valid diagnoses given to a child before they go down the path of changing their gender,” he said, according to the Miami Herald. “This bill makes sure that a young person waits until they are 18 years old before they make an irrevocable decision to change into the opposite sex.”

Talking to the Blaze about the “Vulnerable Child Protection Act,” Sabatini noted that there has been an unprecedented push from the left to normalize the life-altering treatment, despite the fact that, statistically, most of those who transition seek to go back to their biological gender at a later date.

Sabatini said that “80 percent of children who experience gender dysphoria outgrow it, but radical leftists want to make it permanent with dangerous medical procedures simply to further a political agenda.” The Republican Representative also highlighted the adverse effects of…

Intelligence Expert to CBN News: Soleimani Planning to Take Americans Hostage in Iraq Embassy, Broker Sanctions Relief

CBN News has learned new details about the imminent threat that led to the killing of Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani.

The information came from Michael Pregent of the Hudson Institute, a well-connected Middle East intelligence expert who’s also fought in that region.

During an interview with CBN News on Tuesday, Pregent said the so-called “chatter” regarding the situation could not be ignored.

“He was worse than Osama bin Laden. He was worse than Baghdadi. He was worse than Zarqawi,” he said.

Last month President Trump ordered a drone strike that killed Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, another well-known terrorist.

“It was the best move we could have made,” Pregent said.

Pregent said his sources provided a clear picture of the threat Soleimani posed to the US Embassy in Baghdad, making his demise a must.

“The chatter was they were going to do a 1979 hostage siege,” Pregent told CBN News.

“They were going to take over the embassy, take all the Americans in the embassy hostage and then broker their release in exchange for sanctions relief,” he explained.

While Soleimani was the main target, Pregent says the other terror leader killed in the strike would have also played a key role in the siege.

“The chatter was they were going to put Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in as prime minister,” Pregent said. “So do a coup and then seize the embassy.”

Pregent said when militia forces penetrated the embassy on Dec. 31, it was essentially a dress rehearsal for what was to come.

“They’d walked into the embassy without weapons. Trashed it. Saw how close they could get to it. Saw they could throw things over. Saw they could get as close as to almost break the windows with the US guards on the other side,” he noted.

“The next thing they wanted to do was roll through the embassy in a protest with civilians with Iraqi flags and make it look like the protestors were taking the embassy when it was really the militias,” the intelligence expert continued.

Pregent says if Soleimani and Al Muhandis had lived, the coup was all but certain.

“Killing Quasem Solemani was actually a de-escalating event,” he said. “It sent a message to the regime that the President was really serious about hurting Iran.”

Pregent also addressed the tidal wave of criticism against President Trump as Democrats demanded intelligence that led to the decision to take out Soleimani. Pregent said it’s important to remember that intelligence doesn’t confirm an imminent attack, it only hints at one.

Settlement: County Must Pay Atheists $490,000 for Blocking ‘Secular Invocations’

Settlement: County Must Pay Atheists $490,000 for Blocking ‘Secular Invocations’

A Florida county is facing a $490,000 bill from atheist groups and their attorneys after two federal courts found the county’s prohibition on “secular invocations” was unconstitutional.

Brevard County previously had a policy excluding atheists and humanists from offering invocations at board meetings, but the Central Florida Freethought Community and other like-minded groups successfully sued. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals last year ruled the county’s policy violates the U.S. Constitution’s prohibition on government establishment of religion, Christian Headlines previously reported.

Now the county is facing damages and legal fees totaling $490,000, according to Florida Today. The settlement total includes $60,000 in compensatory damages for the groups and individuals who sued, and $430,000 in attorney fees.

The Brevard County Commission is scheduled to vote Tuesday night on paying the bill. Attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and the Freedom From Religion Foundation represented the groups. The Central Florida Freethought Community is an organization of humanists and atheists.

Under the old policy, commissioners often invited Christian and Jewish speakers. The commissioners’ new policy involves only a moment of silence.

“Brevard County has selected invocation speakers in a way that…

Aramaic Christian Town Vandalized, Police Suspect It’s a Hate Crime

Aramaic Christian Town Vandalized, Police Suspect It’s a Hate Crime

Israeli police are investigating a possible hate crime after Christian families in the country found their car tires slashed and extremist graffiti written on vehicles and buildings on Tuesday.

Security footage shows three suspects in hooded sweatshirts slashing car tires in the predominantly Christian town of Jish. More than 150 cars were damaged, CBN News reports.

“I woke up at seven in the morning to take my kids to school [and] I heard noise outside,” Shadi Khalloul, an Aramaic Christian living in Jish told CBN News. “I went to see what was happening. I see my father and the other neighbors and everyone standing near his car and looking very sadly [at] the car…they said someone punctured the car wheels.”

The three suspects also spray painted the Star of David on some of the cars and painted messages on buildings.

“Jews wake up. Stop assimilating!” one of the messages reportedly said.

Police believe the town was targeted by Jewish extremists.

Jish council head Elias Elias told reporters that this is not the first time residents in the area have dealt with Jewish extremists.

E3 Partners Details Upcoming Mission Trip to South Sudan

E3 Partners is sending out more mission trips over the next couple of months, including one to people in South Sudan with no written language.

In a village in Africa, a five-year-old boy stands surrounded by a group of people. The words he speaks have no written equivalent, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in them.

Jeff Johnston of e3 Partners says, “And in their native language, he’s sharing a story about Jesus healing the crippled man. And he’s sharing the story with these people. In the end, you can see in the video how everyone is captivated by it, and he shares the whole story. And then you hear them in their own native language at the end say ‘Praise be to God!’”

That’s why Johnston is so excited about the upcoming e3 Partners missions’ trip to South Sudan. “There’s unreached people groups there that are 99%, oral only meaning that if you hand them a Bible, they’re not going to know what to do with it. Because ultimately, their communication and their learning come through orality, it comes through speaking.”

E3 Partners has experienced orality teams that go to oral cultures, tell them the Gospel in their own languages, and share biblical stories with them. This is not a new program; Johnston says these teams have been doing this for over a decade.

Ohio Man Convicted of Running Over, Killing Woman who Tried to Stop him from Stealing her Family’s Van in Church Parking Lot is Sentenced to Life in Prison

An Ohio man accused of running over and killing a woman who tried to stop him from stealing her family’s van in a church parking lot has been sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility in 23 years.

The sentencing on Monday came after a jury in Cleveland last month convicted Michael Preston, 24, of murder and other charges.

Lesley DeJesus, 33, was at a Cleveland church in November 2018 planning her daughter’s Quinceañera, a traditional Hispanic celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday. The daughter saw two men in the parking lot trying to steal the van, prompting DeJesus and her husband, Jesus Cruz-Maldonado, to run outside to stop them, authorities said.

Preston drove away as the couple fought with him, dragging Cruz-Maldonado a short distance and then running over DeJesus, prosecutors said. Preston was later identified from DNA evidence found inside the van.

Messages seeking comment were left with Preston’s attorneys on Tuesday.

Preston declined to speak at sentencing based on his attorneys’ advice because he maintains his innocence, cleveland.com reported.
