Donald Trump was ‘Ordained by God’ to be President, Rick Perry Says

Donald Trump was ‘Ordained by God’ to be President, Rick Perry Says

Outgoing Energy Secretary Rick Perry says he told President Trump he had been “ordained” by God for this moment in time and that God has used “imperfect people” throughout the history of the world.

Appearing on Fox News’ America’s News Headquarters with Ed Henry, Perry said he believes that God appoints leaders – no matter the party. That includes Democrats like Barack Obama and Republicans like Donald Trump.

“None of us got here by accident,” Perry said. “I’m a big believer that the God of our universe is still very active in the details of the day-to-day lives of government. Barack Obama didn’t get to be the president of the United States without being ordained by God, [and] neither did Donald Trump.”

God “has used individuals who aren’t perfect all through history,” Perry added.

“Donald Trump’s not perfect,” Perry said. “And I think the Christian teachings and the Christians that are around him and his cabinet and in his life are very important. And I hope I’ve been a bit of a minister, if you will, a person who’s been able to share my faith with the president — and in turn, it’s been able to make a difference.”

Host Ed Henry then asked Perry how he responds to people who say Trump isn’t “much of a Christian” and “doesn’t care about faith.”

“God has used imperfect people all through history,” Perry said….

Justin Welby offers support to Chief Rabbi over Labour anti-Semitism claims

Writing in the Times Ephraim Mirvis said the overwhelming majority of Britain’s Jews were “gripped with anxiety” ahead of the General Election on 12 December.

“A new poison – sanctioned from the top – has taken root in the Labour Party,” he said.

“How complicit in prejudice would a leader of Her Majesty’s opposition have to be to be considered unfit for office?”

Giving his backing to the Jewish leader, writing on social media Justin Welby said: “That the Chief Rabbi should be compelled to make such an unprecedented statement at this time ought to alert us to the deep sense of insecurity and fear felt by many British Jews.

“Everyone in our country is entitled to feel safe and secure. They should be able to live in accordance with their beliefs and freely express their culture and faith.”

Speaking at the launch of the Labour Party Race and Faith Manifesto, Jeremy Corbyn didn’t address the criticism from the Chief Rabbi but did state that Labour does not tolerate anti-Semitism “in any form whatsoever”.

He also made an open offer to work with the Chief Rabbi, the Archbishop of Canterbury or any other faith leader on the concerns from within their communities.

New Fossil Suggesting Snakes Once Had Legs Helps Explain God’s Curse on Serpents in Genesis

New Fossil Suggesting Snakes Once Had Legs Helps Explain God’s Curse on Serpents in Genesis

A new study in the Science Advances journal showed that at one point in time, snakes might have had legs.

According to Faithwire.com, the discovery of a fossil in Argentina may be helpful in proving the Genesis story of Adam and Eve.

The fossil, discovered in the Rio Negro Province of Argentina, belonged to a creature called a “Nahash.” The creature had two hind legs. Experts estimated the fossil to be about 100 million years old.

The Genesis story of “The Fall” gives the account of Adam and Eve eating the “forbidden” fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

God condemned the serpent who tempted Adam and Eve, saying “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.”

Scholars and groups have long debated whether the serpent in Genesis was a legged creature. Bodie Hodge, the head of the Creation Museum, weighed in on the conversation.

“When looking at Genesis 3:13-15, there is no direct indication that the serpent had legs, only that its curse would be “on your belly you shall go,”” Hodge said. “But in Genesis 3:1, we get a clue that the serpent was likely classified as a beast of the field, which is probably why beasts of the field were also mentioned in 3:14.

“What makes this an issue is that it was a land…

Bishop fears his kidnap after abduction of three priests

Catholic Bishop Andrew Nkea says he was blackmailed by boys from his Mamfe diocese, who told their victims he would be next if he didn’t pay them £655.

Three men, Father Felix Sunday, parish priest of Afap and two priests from the presbytery of Kembong Parish were held at gunpoint in October.

In a pastoral letter, seen by Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need, Bishop Nkea says the culprits were “venting their anger” against him for attending the Grand National Dialogue in Yaounde – which was called to help restore peace between the Anglophone and Francophone regions of the country.

He said: “[The youths] told the priests that their target was the bishop and, until [I] paid [my] fine [of 500,000 CFA francs (£655)], they would track [me] down and kidnap [me].”

The bishop stated: “These boys who harass the priests are from these villages, and until the population dialogues with their children and gives me a written guarantee of the safety of the pastors who work for them, the parishes will remain without pastors.”

President Paul Biya’s government organised five days of talks in October to address the ongoing conflict between Francophone and Anglophone Cameroon, which reignited three years ago over the use of French in schools and courts.

Subsequent protests lead to the deaths of 3,000 people and the displacement of a further 500,000.

Democrat Representative Says She Doesn’t ‘See the Value’ in Moving Forward with Impeachment Proceedings

Democrat Representative Says She Doesn’t ‘See the Value’ in Moving Forward with Impeachment Proceedings

Michigan Democrat Rep. Brenda Lawrence says she no longer sees any “value” in the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

According to Fox News, Lawrence told the Michigan radio show No BS News Hour that she no longer supports an impeachment of the president and will ask her party and caucus for a censure instead.

“We are so close to an election,” she said. “I will tell you, sitting here knowing how divided this country is, I don’t see the value of taking him out of office. But I do see the value of putting down a marker saying his behavior is not acceptable.”

In early October in an interview with Sirius XM radio host Dean Obeidallah, Lawrence said she supported an impeachment.

“I feel strongly that for my legacy, for my time in history, sitting here at this table with an oath of office to protect this country, to protect the democracy of the United States of America, I cannot sit silent, that I must move forward with [impeachment] because this is egregious,” Lawrence said in October.

According to Fox News, recent polls have also shown that independents are showing less support for the impeachment process. One survey showed that 50 percent of independents did not support impeaching and removing Trump from office. Some 42 percent backed the idea. In early October, a similar poll showed that 45 percent supported…

Lib Dems and Conservatives have not been loving others as they love themselves

Launching their ‘Race and Faith’ manifesto was always going to be a difficult day for a party heavily criticised for its handling of anti-Semitism.

It was made a harder sell after the Chief Rabbi in the UK said in The Times on Tuesday that many Jews were scared of a Labour government, with the Archbishop of Canterbury backing him up.

As people waited outside the launch for Jeremy Corbyn with signs about anti-Semitism, a gospel choir sang inside and the party set out their vision for minorities and religious people.

The Race and Faith manifesto says Labour will appoint an envoy for freedom of religion and belief (a role the current government have), that they will strengthen communities’ rights to wear religious symbols and will have all religions taught about in schools.

Labour’s pledges seem to echo the recommendations of the Bishop of Truro’s report in the persecution of Christians in Asia, the Middle East and parts of Africa, without naming the report.

For example, they promise to train Foreign Office staff in religious literacy – something that was brought to the fore after Christian converts were initially denied asylum because they claimed Christianity was a religion of peace and civil servants handpicked Bible verses about violence to argue that an Iranian should not be granted asylum because they didn’t…

Dolly Parton, For King and Country Version of ‘God Only Knows’ Is Nominated for a Grammy

Dolly Parton, For King and Country Version of ‘God Only Knows’ Is Nominated for a Grammy

Iconic singer-songwriter Dolly Parton and popular Christian group For King and Country have been nominated for a Grammy Award for the “Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance and Song.” The artists were nominated for their performance of For King and Country’s “God Only Knows.” Originally released by the duo in 2018, “God Only Knows” was reimagined in 2019 to feature Dolly Parton.

Parton, a committed Christian, posted the exciting update to her Instagram. “What incredible news to be nominated for two Grammy Awards!” she wrote. “It’s always such a sweet thing when your peers recognize and celebrate the music you make. To have a nomination with Linda Perry for “Girl In The Movies,” the song we wrote together for Dumplin’ means so much. And then to share another with my new friends Joel and Luke Smallbone from @forkingandcountry on our duet “God Only Knows”…well, I am one happy girl today!”

Parton has been increasingly open about her faith in recent years. In an interview with PEOPLE last week, she explained how God guided her decisions during the early part of her career.

“I will know it if it’s wrong,” she said of her early choices, after receiving relentless criticism for her image as she attempted to break into the industry. “I will know it because I’m that in tune with myself and that in tune with God.”

Of her…

Christians urged to continue fight against LGBT lessons in schools as protest banned

From next year all schools will be required to provide age appropriate teaching for relationships and sex education – including LGBT relationships.

The move has prompted protests at some schools which have already implemented the changes.

At Anderton Park Primary School (pictured below), for months campaigners – mostly Muslim – held vocal vigils claiming the classes went against their faith.

It led to a temporary ban being imposed.

On Tuesday, that ban was made permanent with a High Court judge suggesting the demos had a “very significant adverse impact” on pupils, staff and local residents.

Welcoming the decision, Paul Whiteman, general secretary of the education union NAHT, said: “These protests have been widely and rightly condemned and they should now be brought to an end with immediate effect.

“We will continue to support schools where disagreements persist because diversity and equality are a matter of fact and a matter of law and learning about equality and diversity is not optional.”

Wikimendia Commons

But with the lessons been rolled out across the country next year, Christian campaigner John Allman, who was involved in the High Court legal action against the council, called on believers not to give up.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said.

“Don’t do anything that’s going to antagonise the LGBT community but simply assert the truth that…

Man Spews Anti-Semitic Slurs at Father and Son on London Train, Muslim Woman Defends Them

Man Spews Anti-Semitic Slurs at Father and Son on London Train, Muslim Woman Defends Them

A Muslim woman has been praised for confronting a man on a London train after he launched a vicious verbal assault against a Jewish man and his son.

The incident, which was caught on camera, shows a man ridiculing the father and son and hurling anti-Semitic remarks at them as he ranted with a Bible in his hand. Incredibly, the dad stays calm and instructs his son to simply ignore him. Though the clip only captured a short exchange, the dad explained that it was part of a horrific “15- to 20-minute ordeal.”

“He shouted at me that the Jews started the slave trade and threatened that I, my wife and children were going to be his slaves and suffer various other ailments,” the anonymous father explained to the Independent. “He said the Jews were from the synagogue of Satan, and continued with vile antisemitic abuse which was very unsuitable for any child or adult to hear. I was confused. I was ready for the antisemitic comments after the Jewish question, but I was not prepared for the hail of antisemitic abuse which followed.”

As the situation got out of hand, the aggressive man was confronted by a Muslim woman who was travelling in the same carriage. “We were all intimidated by this man’s behavior and we all tried to diffuse the situation the best way we could, but as a Muslim woman and mother I know what it’s like to be attacked and…

The £100,000 advent calendar angering Christians

Two advent calendars from famous jewellers will set you back as much as £100,000. A platinum diamond ring worth £26,000 is behind one door of the Beaverbrooks calendar. Tiffany’s offers gifts of up to £13,000 behind their advent doors, wrapped in their iconic blue boxes.

A number of Christian groups have spoken out deploring such excess during the festive season. Speaking to the Telegraph, Andrea Williams, the chief executive of Christian Concern said: “Christmas is a timeless message of beauty: of baby born into a messy world to bring hope and light.”

But she said these calendars “play to the basest of our human instincts”.

Charities suggested such vast sums would be better spent on helping those in need, particularly when some charities have seen donation levels drop.

Donations to Christian Aid haven fallen by almost a quarter since 2016 from £26.6million to £49.7million last year.

Deborah Auty, of Christian Aid, told the Telegraph: “To put the £100,000 advent calendars into perspective, it’s worth remembering it takes a very small amount to offer hope to communities…the same amount of money could provide safe shelter for more than 500 families in camps in Afghanistan throughout the coming harsh winter.”
