Kirk Cameron Creates TV New Series Featuring Faith-Based Conversations with Celebrity Friends

Actor and outspoken Christian Kirk Cameron is launching a new TV series on the TBN network called One on One.

Set to be the “Growing Pains” star’s own take on “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” Cameron said that he hopes the unique format will help his guests feel relaxed and able to talk openly about their faith.

“I loved how Jerry Seinfeld would take some of these guests out of the studio and they would go get some coffee in his show, and Kevin Hart would do the same thing with his show, and James Corden has lots of fun taking his guests out. So I thought, I’m going to try a one on one competition with everybody,” the actor explained, according to the Christian Post.

Indeed, while Kirk hopes to touch on some heavier subjects during the conversations, he also wants to keep it light-hearted for viewers. In an age of division, social media disagreement and bitter public feuds, Cameron is determined to stand out from the negative noise.

“We can turn on the news or read our news feed through social media, and just everybody’s fighting about something, whether it’s the Democrats fighting with the Republicans, or it’s the Democrats fighting against each other,” he explained. “We can talk all about racism, and we can talk all about gender identity and there’s so much of that, all the time that I wanted to make a show that was…

Thousands of Swedes Are Implanting Microchips into Their Hands – Is it a Sign of the Antichrist?

Thousands of Swedes Are Implanting Microchips into Their Hands – Is it a Sign of the Antichrist?

A growing movement of Swedes are implanting microchips into their hands to replace credit cards and cash.

“Tech will move into the body,” the microchip pioneer Jowan Osterlund said to the New York Post, “I am sure of that.”

More than 4,000 citizens have opted to insert the chip, which is about the size of a grain of rice. The chip can also help monitor health and replace keycards for access into offices and buildings.

The progressive country hopes the chips catch on and thereby eliminate the need for cash. Microchip owners can simply swipe their hands to pay in stores.

Osterlund, who also owns Biohax International, has claimed that the technology is completely safe for users. But many are more concerned about privacy.

“The problem is, who owns this data?” Ben Libberton, a Swedish scientist, said. “Do I get a letter from my insurance company saying premiums are going up before I know I’m ill? If I use the chip to buy lunch, go to the gym and go to work, will someone have all of this info about me? Is this stored and is it safe?

“People have shown they’re happy to give up privacy for convenience,” he continued. “The chip is very convenient, so could we accept our data being shared very widely before we know the risks?”

For some pastors and End Time theologians, the microchip is a concerning sign of the…

Christian MP facing deselection over abortion vote

Reports suggest Dr Lisa Cameron is the only Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) MP who has not been approved to stand in the next general election, expected later this year.

The MP says activists in the party who disagreed with her decision to vote against lifting Northern Ireland’s abortion ban are behind the decision.

According to The Times, SNP members have been asked to vote on whether they want sitting MPs to stand again or whether an internal selection should take place.

Dr Cameron has been subject to much abuse online following her vote in July.

She said she went against her party as a matter of conscience based around her faith and her experience of two late term miscarriages.

The vote was a free vote, meaning she wouldn’t be disciplined for going against her party.

Pro-life group Right to Life UK has been speaking out for the MP.

Spokesperson Catherine Robinson said: “It is disgraceful that this MP should face deselection and receive such abuse for voting to protect unborn babies and in favour of not imposing abortion, which is a devolved matter, on Northern Ireland.

“If she is deselected from the SNP, it would show the intolerance of pro-life views and those who respect and wish to defend the right to life of all human beings, born or unborn, within the party.”

Premier has contacted Dr Cameron for comment.

Hollywood Invests Record $2.9B in Georgia, Despite Boycotts over Pro-Life Law

Hollywood Invests Record $2.9B in Georgia, Despite Boycotts over Pro-Life Law

Despite opposition from Hollywood and a few boycotts over a new pro-life law, Georgia experienced a record $2.9 billion invested in the state through film and television productions in 2018-19, according to new data from the state.

Gov. Brian Kemp and the Global Commerce and Film Divisions announced Tuesday that 399 film and television projects were filmed in the state in the fiscal year that ran from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019. That resulted in a record $2.9 billion invested in the state through the projects, topping the previous record of $2.7 billion set in 2017-18.

Kemp signed a pro-life law May 7 that bans abortions after a heartbeat is detected. It is being challenged in court.

The Writers Guild of America had said the law would force talent “in our industry” to “leave the state or decide not to bring productions there.” Actress Alyssa Milano released a letter of 50 actors threatening a boycott if Kemp signed it. Milano’s own calls for a boycott began in March when the bill passed the Senate.

Next year’s data will include a more clear picture of the boycott’s impact. Thus far, though, the impact is minimal. Georgia provides tax incentives to production companies if they film their projects in the state.

“With record-breaking years in global commerce and film, Georgia leads the nation as the best state for business for…

PM appoints Rehman Chishti as new Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief

The Conservative MP has frequently raised questions in House of Commons debates about the problems religious minorites face, particularly focusing on the case of Asia Bibi who faced the death sentence for blasphemy against Islam.

Chishti cited the Government’s response to Bibi’s case, and their seeming reluctance to grant her asylum in the UK, as one of the reasons he resigned as Vice-Chair of the Conservative party.

In his new position, Chishti will promote religious tolerance abroad and lead the implementation of the recommendations from the recent review into the Foreign Office’s support for persecuted Christians led by the Bishop of Truro.

He will also advocate for the rights of individuals in the UK who are being discriminated against for their faith or belief.

His appointment means the Government now has a dedicated person on the issue of religious freedom.

The Envoy role was previously held by FCO Minister Lord (Tariq) Ahmad who will continue to cover human rights in his Ministerial capacity as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and as Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the United Nations.

Before he became Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said he would implement the reccommendations of Bishop Philip Mountstephen’s report.

Mr Johnson said of the new appointment: “People across the world deserve the…

Young Father in India Shocked at Why Relatives Attacked Him, Daughter and Killed His Wife

Young Father in India Shocked at Why Relatives Attacked Him, Daughter and Killed His Wife

NEW DELHI, September 11, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Two weeks after losing his wife to an axe-blow in front of his 3-year-old daughter in eastern India, Rohit Oraon believes that the murder was planned, not spontaneous, and that his relatives also meant to kill him and his child.

What he still cannot believe is why.

The 25-year-old Rohit knew his brother and father disapproved of him marrying out of his tribe and becoming a Christian, and he knew they were jealous of his prosperity and the fellowship he found among Christians after they tried to leave him desolate by shunning him.

“But I still cannot fathom how can his jealousy lead him to murder,” he told Morning Star News, referring to his brother, 36-year-old Bandhan Ram Oraon. “After they killed my wife, they called for all the Christians to come out, saying, ‘We will get rid of all of you, once and for all.’”

His wife, Parvati Devi, was 23.

In the remote village of Lukujhariya, 28 miles from the Jharkhand state capital, Ranchi, nearly everyone practices the tribal Sarna religion; there are only five other Christian families, including that of his Uncle Phulchand, the first to put his faith in Christ (as all villagers bear the surname of their tribe, Oraon, they are identified by first name). The Aug. 27 assault that killed his wife – and, by accident, his attacking father –…

‘This isn’t project fear, this is project reality’ says bishop on Operation Yellowhammer

The Government has been forced to release details of its no deal planning from 2nd August.

The ‘Operation Yellowhammer’ document, described as the “reasonable worst case planning assumptions”, says there could be severe extended delays to medicine reaching the UK if plans aren’t put in place and that “low income groups will be disproportionately affected by any price rises in food and fuel’ if unmitigated.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said the Government is working “every day” to mitigate the potential effects.

Rt Rev Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds and the Church of England’s lead on Brexit, told Premier he was concerned with all of the Operation Yellowhammer document, but particularly the prediction that the poor would be hit hardest.

“We have an obligation to speak up for those who are least resilient to the sort of shocks that might be coming our way and we will keep doing this, even though it’s not very popular in certain circles,” he said.

“We have to have what’s been called a bias to the poor, but also, from Proverbs, [we have a duty] to open our mouth for the dumb, for those who don’t have a voice. At local level this means parishes and churches paying attention to the real needs locally of the poorest people – that might be to do with food banks, it could be to do those sorts of things but we need to keep our eyes open.”

California Church Leaders Arrested for Targeting Homeless People in Labor-Trafficking Scheme

California Church Leaders Arrested for Targeting Homeless People in Labor-Trafficking Scheme

A dozen leaders of a Southern California church, including the former pastor, were arrested Tuesday for targeting homeless people in a labor-trafficking scheme in which victims were held against their will and forced to panhandle as long as nine hours a day.

U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer released details of the case after indictments were unsealed against Imperial Valley Ministries. The non-denominational church is headquartered in El Centro, California—115 miles east of San Diego—but has an estimated 30 churches across the country, including Chula Vista, south of San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Ana and San Jose in California; in Las Vegas, Nevada; Phoenix, Arizona, Brownsville, Texas and Mexico. Defendants were arrested in El Centro, San Diego and Brownsville.

The defendants are charged with conspiracy, forced labor, document servitude and benefits fraud on 31 identified victims. The church’s former pastor, Victor Gonzalez, and four others were arrested in Brownsville while six leaders were arrested in El Centro and one in San Diego, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The church’s current pastor has not been charged in the case.

IVM’s stated purpose, officials said, is to “restore” drug addicts at faith-based rehabilitation group homes and raise money to open churches in other cities to do the same.

Brewer described the…

York Minster sells historic organ pipes to raise refurbishment funds

The 30 pipes date from the early 1830s – when a new organ was built following an arson attack in the cathedral – and have been silent for more than 100 years.

A further 70 pipes are being restored and will be brought back into musical use in the “once-a-century” refurbishment project.

The pipes have decorated the grand organ’s case since 1832 and, while most are being cleaned, repainted and returned to the organ, 30 were found to be beyond repair and will be replaced.

The remaining pipes are being restored in a chapel at the minster by graining and marbling specialists, who will also decorate the new pipes to match the distinctive gold, green, cream and red decoration of the originals.

The organ – which weighs around 20,000kg and contains 5,403 pipes – has been removed from the minster to be repaired and rebuilt.

Danny Lawson/PA Wire

Conservation expert Robert Woodland works in St John’s Chapel at York Minster on some of the 1830s case pipes, removed from the minster’s Grand Organ for restoration and refurbishment.

The refurbishment includes extensive cleaning and the replacement of the organ’s mechanism.

It will be returned to the minster early next year and should be back in use in autumn 2020.

Neil Sanderson, director of the York Minster Fund, said: “The auction is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to own a piece of York…

Archbishop of Wales urges Governing Body to challenge the status quo

Most Rev John Davies delivered his presidential address to the Church in Wales’ Governing Body on Wednesday.

He told the crowd not to be oblivious to the Church’s challenges or opportunities, and gave the example of Jesus facing opposition when he challenged existing structures.

“Those who challenge the status quo, calling on well-established institutions to take a fresh look at the way in which they operate, and who question whether they might have lost something of the focus on their original calling, risk being judged and caricatured in the same way,” Archbishop John said.

However, he said it was essential that such voices be heard in order to “recover and rehabilitate authentic, Christ-like and Christ-centred ministry”.

“Recognise our challenges, and affirm those individuals and groups who, through asking uncomfortable questions and making uncomfortable observations, demand of us, that we pay attention, that we plan, that we pray and that we act to continue to rehabilitate our vision for our life as a church.”

Archbishop John explained that the Church had several opportunities to reach out to the community when they come through church doors for events such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals.

“It requires eyes that are joyfully wide-open to constantly recognise and rejoice in the resources and gifts we have, and the many opportunities which still come our way,…
