In a four minute video of the incident posted on Instagram by the Grammy-award winning performer, the street preacher called Tye repeatedly questions Franklin’s faith and insists that he has “a lot of blood on your hands, sir!” 

Speaking with a megaphone, Tye explained: “You didn’t stand up at the BET Awards and say ‘hey guys, Jesus is coming back soon and the Bible says in the book of Revelation that the blood will be up to the horse’s bridle because of the blood of the sinners and no one’s warning people’.

“You got a lot of people at the BET Awards, you’ve got a lot of blood on your hands, sir! You’ve got a lot of blood on your hands. That’s what I’m here to tell you,” he continued.

Franklin performed his song called “Love Theory” alongside singers Erica Campbell, Kelly Price and Jonathan McReynolds at the awards show that celebrates African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting and sports. 

He also took the time to share about his love of Jesus and proclaimed during his less than four minute performance, “brothers and sisters, if you believe that Jesus is the light of the world, get up on your feet right now”.

 

Tye also claimed that Franklin needed to repent because his “nice little Michael Jackson moves” would “send people to hell, sir”.

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo told worshippers on Sunday: “The selfish power-hungry leaders did not worry about ordinary people. 

“The leaders did not heed intelligence warnings…the [country’s] Security Council did not meet since October because of the power struggle.” 

His criticism was made at a ceremony in one of the three churches in Colombo that was targeted by suicide bombers along with three hotels on 21^st April. 

The suicide bombers killed 258 people and left hundreds permanently injured.

The Cardinal described the launched inquiries as “election gimmicks”. 

The country’s police chief and former defence secretary are both currently being probed for not acting on intelligence that was known before the attacks – Indian intelligence had sent warnings that a terror attack in Sri Lanka was imminent.​

Rt Rev Stephen Conway is sitting in the House of Lords in the week the Conservative Party will decide to appoint Jeremy Hunt or Boris Johnson as leader.

Bishop Stephen told Premier he acknowledged there was a lot of concern over the appointment but was praying that the UK would flourish under the new leadership.

“Everyone is rushing to tell us that whoever comes in has made impossible promises to the country and we’re going to face a no deal Brexit with all the consequences that might follow,” he said.

“I hope that the whoever is chosen as prime minister will seek immediately to assure the country that his priority is good governance, that he puts the interest of the nation first above party or any other consideration, and that he will not only model good practice for us, but in all of his endeavours be one who will speak the truth to us at all times and attend to our economy and our civil life so that we as a nation will flourish under his government.”

Bleasdale Church of England Primary, near Preston will be shutting after 180 years of teaching, following Lancashire County Council’s declaration that it is ‘no longer financially viable’.

A sharp decrease in students from 16 to two over the past five years, lead to a public consultation into the village school earlier this year, after which the decision was made to shut it down.

From September the numbers would have dropped further as one of the school’s two students, Jonah will be moving on to secondary school.

Associate head teacher David Fann told BBC News there was “shock and numbness” amongst the school’s seven staff members at the news.

He said: “It will hit them hard. When the school goes…I worry for the community.”

The head teacher commented that the school was “the core of the community” and its closure was very sad news.

It comes after a recent study has revealed a 50 per cent drop in the number of small schools in England in recent decades, with those in rural settings twice as likely to close.

The report from think tank Onward shows that nearly 150 rural primaries have shut their doors since 2000, forcing pupils to travel longer distances for their education.

Theresa May chaired a meeting of the government’s emergency committee on Monday morning to consider how to react to the capture of the Stena Impero on Friday.

Officials said the meeting would consider the options for “strengthening current reassurances” to commercial shipping as well as the response to Tehran.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “We do not seek confrontation with Iran but it is unacceptable and highly escalatory to seize a ship going about legitimate business through internationally recognised shipping lanes.”

Jon Heard from Apostleship of the Sea, a Christian charity providing welfare support to seafarers told Premier his concerns lie with the crew members: “It’s important to remember these seafarers are just doing their jobs. They’re working long contracts on these vessels, there’s issues between Iran and Britain right now, but none of these seafarers are British nationals.

They’re just innocent victims caught up in the middle.

Heard said it was important to consider both the crew members and their families, who face threat and disruption as a result of these political tensions, suggesting robust training was needed for other vessels to ensure seafarers are adequately equipped to enter the Persian Gulf.

He continued: “We know that seafarers themselves are finding this very stressful. It affects all seafarers travelling through the region…
