California Is Hit by Two Powerful Earthquakes, Experts Say a Stronger One May Be Yet to Come
Southern California was rocked by two powerful earthquakes on Thursday and Friday, one of which caused immense damage.
According to Fox News, a powerful magnitude 6.4 earthquake hit Southern California on Thursday afternoon. A second powerful quake – a magnitude 5.4 – hit the region again, early Friday morning.
Fox News reports that Thursday’s quake was the largest earthquake to hit California since 1999. The earthquake was in the city of Ridgecrest, California – Population 29,000 – which is some 150 miles away from Los Angeles.
Despite the distance, the quake was still felt in LA, along with Kern County, Orange County, San Bernardino, and even into Los Vegas, Fox News reports.
The Fourth of July tremor produced sizable aftershocks and caused significant damage including house fires, severe injuries, gas leaks, and road cracking.
Friday morning’s quake hit the Southern California region around 4:07 a.m. and like the quake the day before, it produced dozens of sizable aftershocks, Fox News reports.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Seismologist Lucy Jones predicts that some of the aftershocks from the earthquakes could “exceed magnitude 5.” Jones noted that this means the aftershocks will likely be damaging as well.

Christian family to challenge Norway’s child welfare agency in court
The Bodnariu family case is currently one of 26 cases at the European Court of Human Rights where Barnevernet is under investigation for taking children from parents.
The family were initially told that their children, including a three-month-old baby at the time, were taken in 2015 due to allegations of corporal punishment, which is illegal in Norway.
However, an investigation revealed the children were removed as a result of officials believing the children were being “indoctrinated’ by their parents” Christian beliefs.
Barnevernet returned the children following international pressure and protests.
The whole family left Norway once they were reunited.
In December 2016, the family filed their case to the European Court of Human Rights claiming their right to a private family life had been violated.
Robert Clarke, director of European Advocacy for Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF International) said in a statement: “Recent years have seen an increasing number of cases of overreach by the Norwegian state into family life, with numerous cases coming before the European Court of Human Rights.
“No family should be put through such an ordeal, especially not at the hands of the state. We are encouraged by the decision of the European Court of Human Rights to hear this case.”

12,000 High Schoolers at Christian Conference Raise $57,000 for Battered Women, Homeless
More than 12,600 students from 32 states and five nations jammed into an Atlanta-area arena, raising $57,000 for abused women and the homeless during a four-day Christian conference. The Forward Conference 2019 was held June 27-30 at Infinite Energy Center in Duluth and hosted by Free Chapel, a multi-campus church in Gainesville.
“When students are given more than just rules and regulations and given the opportunity to really make a difference in the world, I have found time after time they rise to the occasion,” Jentezen Franklin, senior pastor of Free Chapel, told Fox News.
The 15thannual event featured music sets and faith-based messages from some of the most prominent Christian bands and speakers. This year’s lineup included Hillsong Worship, Passion, Bethel, and the band from Free Chapel. Featured speakers included Carl Lentz of Hillsong NYC, DawnChere Wilkerson of VOUS Church in Miami and Levi Lusko of Fresh Life Church, a network of congregations based out of Kalispell, Montana.
