This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #111. Where I read three chapters of the Holy Bible in the King James Version a day with my family as a part of our family devotions, to encourage you to read the Holy Bible in a year’s time. Today we are reading Numbers 25, Psalm 44 and Romans 9.
John Wycliffe said, “All Christian life is to be measured by Scripture; by every word thereof.”
Joyce Meyer said, “It is not about reading the Word. It is about obeying the Word.”
Numbers 25
1 And Is’-ra-el abode in Shit’-tim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Mo’-ab.
2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
3 And Is’-ra-el joined himself unto Ba’-al-pe’-or: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Is’-ra-el.
4 And the Lord said unto Mo’-ses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Is’-ra-el.
5 And Mo’-ses said unto the judges of Is’-ra-el, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Ba’-al-pe’-or.
6 And, behold, one of the children of Is’-ra-el came and brought unto his brethren a Mid-i-a-ni’-tish woman in the sight of Mo’-ses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Is’-ra-el, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
7 And when Phin’-e-has, the son of El-e-a’-zar, the son of Aa’-ron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;
8 And he went after the man of Is’-ra-el into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Is’-ra-el, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Is’-ra-el.
9 And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.
10 And the Lord spake unto Mo’-ses, saying,
11 Phin’-e-has, the son of El-e-a’-zar, the son of Aa’-ron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Is’-ra-el, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Is’-ra-el in my jealousy.
12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:
13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Is’-ra-el.
14 Now the name of the Is’-ra-el-ite that was slain, even that was slain with the Mid-i-a-ni’-tish woman, was Zim’-ri, the son of Sa’-lu, a prince of a chief house among the Sim’-e-on-ites.
15 And the name of the Mid-i-a-ni’-tish woman that was slain was Coz’-bi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Mid’-i-an.
16 And the Lord spake unto Mo’-ses, saying,
17 Vex the Mid-i-a-nites, and smite them:
18 For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Pe’-or, and in the matter of Coz’-bi, the daughter of a prince of Mid’-i-an, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Pe’-or’s sake.
Psalm 44
To the chief Musician for the sons of Kor’-ah, Mas’-chil.
1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Ja’-cob.
5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Se’-lah.
9 But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.
Romans 9
1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 Who are Is’-ra-el-ites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. A’-men.
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Is’-ra-el, which are of Is’-ra-el:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of A’-bra-ham, are they all children: but, In I’-saac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sa’-rah shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Re-bec’-ca also had conceived by one, even by our father I’-saac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, Ja’-cob have I loved, but E’-sau have I hated.
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 For he saith to Mo’-ses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
17 For the scripture saith unto Phar’-aoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gen’-tiles?
25 As he saith also in O’-see, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
27 E-sai’-as also crieth concerning Is’-ra-el, Though the number of the children of Is’-ra-el be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 And as E-sai’-as said before, Except the Lord of Sa-ba’-oth had left us a seed, we had been as Sod’-o-ma, and been made like unto Go-mor’-rha.
30 What shall we say then? That the Gen’-tiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Is’-ra-el, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Si’-on a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

When I was a teenager I wanted to get wisdom and knowledge, so I set out to read the big family Bible that many families had in those days. But I couldn’t get past Genesis 2 before I got bored with reading the Bible. I found out later in life that you have to believe on Christ and get saved before you can understand the Bible. So here is how I became a Christian and how you can too:
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:8: “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
