The Christian sportsman who lost his world championship belts after a well publicised breakdown is back in the ring this weekend taking on Germany’s Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas.

“I’m only human so I do have good days and bad days,” he said in an interview with YouTube channel IFLTV. “I’m maintaining through training…the good outweighs the bad so I’ve got to be happy.”

Fury, who often speaks about his faith, won praise for overcoming depression after his belts were taken off him.

He returned to action last year and drew with world champion Deontay Wilder rising from the canvas after being knocked down – something he credited to divine intervention.

The boxer has been opening up about his latest mental health battle and how his quiet times with God keep him on track.

“OCD is tough…the slightest things bug me,” he said. “First thing I do in the morning is I go onto my Bible app and I read the verse of the day and it gives me a count on the side so it tells me how many days I’ve done it in a row without missing one. If you miss a day it goes back to zero and that [annoys] me.”

Fury says he’s learnt how to deal with his OCD and is aided by his family who understand his situation.

Gary Streeter has been speaking as eleven of his colleagues put their names forward to become Prime Minister.

The contest was called for after Theresa May stepped down following her failure to deliver Brexit.

Although Friday was her last day as Tory leader, she’ll remain as prime minister until her successor is chosen.

Streeter (pictured below), who represents South West Devon said: “I think this leadership election is absolutely crucial.

“Politics is in a mess in Britain at the moment but we’ve been here before. I think the 1970s was an example of where we were all over the place politically but we tend always to come out of it, because we’re that kind of nation.

“At the moment we’re facing a leadership crisis, we need a new prime minister, with authority that 50 per cent plus one of us at Westminster can follow and in particular, to solve the Brexit problem and then to govern the country in a sensible way in the run up to an election probably in a couple of years time.”

Boris Johnson remains the favourite but will face tough competition from the likes of Michael Gove and Jeremy Hunt.

The first round of voting is expected to take place on Thursday.

A series of votes will follow over the coming weeks before just two candidates remain.

The Church Commissioners previously banned investment in companies that profit from recreational drugs.

However, the investment arm of the Church has now revealed its changed its stance on medicinal cannabis since it was legalised.

A spokesperson told Premier: “There has been no change to our overall position on medicines.

“We will hold medicinal cannabis to the same standards as we hold other pharmaceuticals, and invest only if properly licensed and regulated for medicinal use.”

Medicinal marijuana was legalised in the UK from November although no patient has been issued a prescription on the NHS, which has strict guidelines.

Dr Mark Pickering, chief executive of Christian Medical Fellowship told Premier that the Church’s U-turn was a “very positive development overall”.

When asked about what he would say to Christians weary of cannabis, he said: “When they’re used within an appropriate medical context, in certain prescribed conditions they can be very useful and I think the purified medicinal cannabis should be seen in this light.”

Dr Pickering, who also works with drug users in prisons, highlighted the importance of Christians differentiating between the recreational and medicinal use of the drug.

“Recreational cannabis is a mixture of probably over 100 different cannabinoid compounds – some of which are very harmful,” he said.

Bishop Wilson has been the Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster since 2015 and was previously a priest in the Diocese of Leeds.

He will succeed Most Rev Peter Smith, who has been Archbishop of Southwark since 2010.

Benjamin Field, 28, was giving evidence for the first time in his trial where he is accused of killing former school English teacher Peter Farquhar, 69, and retired headmistress Ann Moore-Martin, 83, after a sustained campaign of “gaslighting”.

Mr Farquhar, a novelist, died in October 2015, while Miss Moore-Martin, who lived a few doors away in the village of Maids Moreton, Buckinghamshire died in May 2017.

Field is on trial at Oxford Crown Court alongside magician Martyn Smith, 32, accused of murdering Mr Farquhar and planning to kill Miss Moore-Martin.

David Jeremy QC, defending Field, asked his client: “Did you suffocate him, Peter Farquhar? Administering drugs and gaslighting him? Did you intend to kill him?”

Field replied: “I did not.”

Mr Jeremy went on: “Did you conspire to murder Ann Moore-Martin? Did you attempt to murder Ann Moore-Martin? Give her drugs or tried to poison her? Encouraged or assisted her to commit suicide?”

Field replied: “I did not. Never.”

Mr Jeremy asked: “Did you talk to her about suicide?”

The bespectacled and bearded defendant replied: “Yes, I spoke to her about it on several occasions. I thought it seemed very unlikely that she would.”
