Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said Monday he supports third-trimester abortions, adding that it’s a decision that should be left up to the woman. 

Speaking in Ohio, O’Rourke fielded a question from a voter who is presumably pro-life.

“Are you for third-trimester abortion?” the woman asked. “Are you gonna protect the lives of third-trimester babies? Because there’s really not a medical necessity for abortion. It’s not a medical emergency procedure, because typically third-trimester abortions take up to three days to have, so you would, in that sense, if there was an emergency, the doctors would just do a C-Section, and you don’t have to kill the baby in that [instance]. So, are you for or against third-trimester abortions?”

In a question and answer session in Knoxville, TN, Christian singer, Lauren Daigle shared how God leads her through her anxiety. 

During the “Look Up Child” tour Q&A posted to Instagram, a mother and daughter approached the microphone to ask Daigle for advice on dealing with anxiety. 

According to Relevant Magazine, the two-time Grammy award winner shared, “I wouldn’t necessarily say ‘Oh I am an anxious person,’ until anxiety comes.” 

She continued, “There are times where I’m like ‘What is happening? This isn’t me, this isn’t me. Someone told me a long time ago, they said, ‘perfect love casts out all fear,’ and I remember listening to that over and over and over again – perfect love casts out all fear.”

Then Daigle told the audience of something that she is constantly reminded of. She said, “Well, I know someone who loves me beyond my wildest imagination, beyond my wildest dreams. And He has a love that’s so rich for me, that He’s actually looking out for yesterday, today and tomorrow. And he can see the things that I can’t see.”

Daigle shared that when she feels anxious, she reminds herself that God’s love is greater than her anxiety could ever be.

Hamas soldiers arrested several journalists in Gaza Sunday during protests between Hamas security officials and protestors demonstrating against Gaza’s economic state.

According to the Times of Israel, the journalists were arrested for reporting on the incident, but they are expected to be released soon.

Hamas militants also arrested hundreds of civilians who were participating in the protests, according to Wafa, the Palestinian Authority’s news agency.

The United Nations’ envoy to Israel, Nickolay Mladenov, said Hamas soldiers used violence to make their arrests.

JOS, Nigeria, March 19, 2019 (Morning Star News) – After burning a church building in northeastern Nigeria’s Borno state on Thursday (March 14), Boko Haram terrorists yesterday evening attacked a Christian-majority town in neighboring Adamawa state, sources said.

Area residents said Muslim extremists of the Boko Haram insurgency last night invaded Michika, a town they had seized in September 2014 and held until Nigerian troops recaptured it at the end of January 2015. The attack sent many residents fleeing into the surrounding mountains, with reports of the bombing of a bank and an as yet unknown number of casualties.

Mathew Favandzaer, chairman of the Michika Local Government Council, confirmed the attack, telling Morning Star News by phone that numbers of casualties and displaced persons were yet unknown. The Church of the Brethren has a strong presence in the town, whose greater area is estimated to comprise more than 375,000 people, including many Muslims among the Christian majority.

The Church of the Brethren sent an alert through Twitter urging members to pray for Christians in Michika: “Even as we extend caring to those affected by flooding in plains states & continue to grieve with the Muslim community in NZ, word has come of attacks on Michika, Nigeria, today. ‘Thus says the Lord God…Put away violence.’”

A rebel group with ties to a militant Islamic group has killed six Christians – including a 9-year-old – during a nighttime attack in a mostly Christian province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. 

According to field sources for Open Doors USA, rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces – pretending to be security agents – opened fire after approaching the village of Kalau, killing three women. Nearly 500 residents fled the assault, heading to the nearby city of Beni in the Congo’s North Kivu province.

In a phone interview with Open Doors, a local nurse with Nyankunde hospital said the attackers then proceeded toward the house of the village head, where they shot the guard dogs. Two more villagers—among hundreds fleeing the gunfire—were killed. 

One of Kalau’s community leaders, who asked for anonymity because of safety fears, said rebels plan to move away from their past strategy of “kidnapping and killings.” 

“They want to move to the stage of occupying the territory,” the leader said. “They want to occupy the area they claim as theirs.”

Observers anticipate that the attack is likely to be followed by more violence at the hands of ADF.
