‘Christian Witches’ to Host ‘Magickal’ Convention in Salem

‘Christian Witches’ to Host ‘Magickal’ Convention in Salem

Reverend Valerie Love is preparing to host the first “Christian witches” convention in Salem, Massachusetts, this April.

According to CBN News, Love is both an “ordained Minister of Spiritual Consciousness” and a practicing witch.

According to her website, Love was raised in “the cult of Jehovah’s Witnesses” and after 26 years as a Jehovah’s Witness, she had a “magickal” awakening. The founder of the Covenant of Christian Witches Mystery School and author of 15 books, wrote on her website that she has “always been ‘magickal’” and is a “born witch.”

In 2013, Love published The Christian Witch’s Creed which has amassed a large following.

In her Christian Witch’s Creed, Love wrote, “I am a Christian Witch; I love my cross and my wand. I consult my Tarot deck and my Bible. I adore & am devoted to Christ and the Goddess.”

It continues, “There is no conflict in what I do, what I say or who I am.”

“Whether I’m walking in nature hanging out with Faeries, or in high consciousness communication with Angels or commanding demons & spirits, or stirring a healing remedy in my cauldron, or pulling herbs for a tea, or speaking a spell or dressing a candle, where ever I may be and whatever I may be doing, I am never confused and I am never in denial,” the creed goes on. “I am clear and certain. I was sent here by God for God’s good…

Nothing wrong with children joining the Army

While the message by health experts in the BMJ Paediatrics Open journal said children joining the army is ‘irresponsible’ on part of the Government, retired Major General Tim Cross said there is nothing wrong with the practise.

He told Premier News Hour: “We were seriously talking about giving the vote to 16-year-olds, so are we seriously suggesting they can’t choose their own career?”

“[Are we saying] that they’re mature enough to understand the politics of Brexit but they’re not mature enough to know what they want to do with their lives? I just think it’s crazy.”

Major General Cross joined the Army when he was 16 and said he does not have any regrets.

“I loved every day of it,” he told Premier.

“I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I was about twelve. I wanted to join the Army.

“I was quite capable of choosing my career. I think these sweeping assertions aren’t helpful. They show our young people in a lack of confidence in who they are.”

While the report said allowing children in the Army puts youngsters “at harm”, the Army said under 18s can only join with parental consent and they won’t face combat operations.

“I love what the Army is doing to these youngsters,” Major General Cross said.

“It’s giving them a sense of identity and purpose. In today’s society, with all the mixed messages they’re getting, I think it’s a very powerful and positive thing.”

Women Should be Part of Draft and Forced into War, Judge Rules

Women Should be Part of Draft and Forced into War, Judge Rules

A federal judge ruled Friday that a male-only draft violates the U.S. Constitution in a decision that could lead to women being drafted for a future war.

The case involves the requirement that men, upon reaching age 18, register with Selective Service, which is a list of U.S. citizens eligible for the draft.

The National Coalition For Men had filed suit against the government, arguing that permitting women to avoid Selective Service violates the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. U.S. District Judge Gray Miller agreed, and ruled that if women are allowed in combat roles – the Obama administration lifted that restriction – then they also should be required to sign up for Selective Service.

“Women are now eligible for and have been integrated into combat units,” Miller wrote. “Thus, although Congress was previously concerned about drafting large numbers of people who were categorically ineligible for combat, this concern factually no longer justifies the [Selective Service].”

Miller, who was nominated by President George W. Bush, said Congress could have compared the average physical ability of men and women and “concluded that it was not administratively wise to draft women.” But Congress did not make such a case, he said.

“Instead, at most, it appears that Congress obliquely relied on assumptions and overly broad stereotypes about…

London street preacher claims police took him to unfamiliar neighbourhood and left him without money to get home

The story of the man, known only as Olu, went viral over the weekend after a video was posted on social media showing him being arrested outside Southgate station and having his Bible taken away.

It’s unclear what he said while preaching which caused the police to intervene.

In a statement following his arrest, the Metropolitan Police told Premier: “Police were called to Southgate Underground Station at 1.52pm on Saturday, 23rd February in response to concerns raised about a man’s behaviour.

“An arrest was made to prevent a breach of the peace. The man was then de-arrested and no further action was necessary.”

The preacher has been receiving assistance from the campaign group Christian Concern.

In a statement on Twitter, Christian Concern said: “Our legal team have now spoken to street preacher Olu who was arrested at Southgate tube station on Saturday.

“After being unnecessarily arrested, he was dropped off in an unfamiliar suburb without enough money to get home.

“Thankfully a kind member of the public…

Two Christians Killed in Separate States in India

Two Christians Killed in Separate States in India

NEW DELHI, February 26, 2019 (Morning Star News) – A Christian in Chhattisgarh state, India who endured opposition for three years was killed on Feb. 12, a day after a convert who faced persecution in neighboring Odisha state was slain.

In each case, villagers angry at the Christians for converting were said to have influenced Maoist guerrillas to kill the Christians. The Maoists, known as Naxalites, may have had other reasons for killing the two men, though they also opposed their new faith, sources said.

In Kohkameta village, Chhattisgarh, about 30 Naxalites began by looting the shop of Munglu Ram Nureti and his wife Minka, said area church pastor Prem Sagar, who learned details from Nureti’s wife.

The intruders then ordered Minka to call her husband, a father of five who had left the animist practices of his tribal fellows three years ago to follow Christ. The rebels also asked after Pastor Sagar, who had planned to be there but had stayed home due to leg pain.

The Naxalites found Nureti, who had been eating dinner, tied his hands and walked him out of the house, according to police. Nureti repeatedly asked the reason for targeting him without receiving an answer.

His 18-year-old daughter, Divya Nureti, tried to rescue him, but one of the Maoists pushed her back, sources said. Inspector Prashant Rao of the Narayanpur Police told Morning Star News that when Nureti tried to run,…

Bishop to attend Lambeth Conference without wife in protest at bar on gay clergy partners

Rt Rev Paul Bayes described the decision to prevent same-sex partners of clergy from attending the 2020 Lambeth Conference as an “act of exclusion”.

In a message posted on Twitter, he said: “I deeply regret that, in the fractious complexities of our life as a worldwide people, this act of exclusion has taken its place.

“It is a grief to me and to my wife, and to many others. Despite this, I aim to attend the Conference, alone, in the hope of a common future.”

The Anglican Communion – which includes national churches from 165 countries – was forced to clarify its stance on the matter last week, following “misunderstanding”.

General Secretary Dr Josiah Idowu-Fearon said: “The invitation process has…needed to take account of the Anglican Communion’s position on marriage which is that it is the lifelong union of a man and a woman.

“Given this, it would be inappropriate for same-sex spouses to be invited to the conference.”

The prospect of the same-sex partners of gay bishops being “received in good standing” at the 2020 Lambeth…

Killing of Christians Continues in Run-up to National Elections in Nigeria

Killing of Christians Continues in Run-up to National Elections in Nigeria

JAGINDI, Nigeria, February 25, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Nigerian Christians this month prayed that national elections would bring leaders who can stop Islamist attacks on them following killings by Boko Haram extremists and Muslim Fulani herdsmen.

In the wake of a Muslim herdsmen attack on a church wedding that killed 12 Christians Kaduna state in December and Boko Haram attacks that left several Christians dead in Adamawa state this month, the Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) urged Christians to pray from Feb. 10 to Feb. 22 for free and fair elections and the release of Christian high school student Leah Sharibu and others from Boko Haram kidnappers.

“We are to pray for all Christians contesting for one post or the other for the will of God to be done concerning their ambition, and that the powerful in our nation will not be able to manipulate the election and edge them out,” said Ayokunle, also president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. “We are to pray that the general elections should be free, fair and credible, and without violence or any bloodshed.”

Ahead of elections that began on Saturday (Feb. 23), he said Nigeria has been impoverished by visionless leaders, resulting in the suffering of the masses.

“We are to pray…that God should use the process to give the country good and godly…

Six Issues Regarding Mega Vacancies in Megachurches

Podcast Episode #514

SUBSCRIBE:

More people often means more problems. And that is the case with megachurches when it comes to finding pastors. Today we discuss some of the reasons for this struggle.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Many people have negative stereotypes of megachurches, and many are simply unfair and wrong.
  • The concept of ladder climbing and quickly bouncing from church to church is foreign to many Millennial pastors.
  • Many churches overbuilt their worship space in the past and are now remodeling that to create larger foyers and more intimate worship gatherings.
  • When pastor search committees try to find pastors the way they always have done so, they will struggle with the process because churches and pastors have changed in the past 20-30 years.

The six reasons megachurches are struggling to find pastors are:

  1. These churches have similar profiles of the type of pastor they want.
  2. The number of Millennials who are in vocational ministry and meet the profile is small.
  3. Fewer Millennials are excited about leading a megachurch.
  4. Millennials are concerned about the large worship centers many megachurches have.
  5. Many search committees (or their equivalent) try to look for a pastor in the old traditional path.
  6. Many megachurches did not have a succession plan.

Head of 800-year-old mummy stolen from Dublin church crypt

The head of ‘The Crusader’ was removed from a crypt in St Michan’s Church over the weekend.

The crime was discovered when a guide went to open the church for visitors on Monday afternoon.

The crypt has been badly damaged and several of the mummies, including the 400-year-old remains of a nun, had been desecrated.

The Crusader’s body was turned over and his head removed.

The Archbishop of Dublin Michael Jackson expressed sadness and outrage at the incident.

“I am shocked that someone would target this ancient burial place and desecrate the remains of those lying within it,” he said.

“Not only have these individuals desecrated the sacred crypt but they have destroyed these historic mummies which have been preserved in St Michan’s for hundreds of years.

“I would appeal to those responsible to examine their consciences and return the head of The Crusader to its rightful place.”

Mummies in the St Michan’s Church crypt in 2012

Archdeacon David Pierpoint said he has been left “upset and disappointed” that the church has been targeted again after the crypt was vandalised in 1996.

“The actions of these people are devastating and sacrilegious,” he said.

“We are upset at the amount of damage that has been caused. But also the crypt will have to close so tourists will not be able to visit. It is very frustrating.

“I…
