Open Heaven 16 February 2019 – Divine Chastisement

Open Heaven 16 February 2019 Saturday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Divine Chastisement

Topic: Divine Chastisement (Open Heaven 16 February 2019)

Memorise: “But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.”- Hebrews 12:8

Read: Jeremiah 30:12-17 (KJV)

12 For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.

13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.

15 Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.

16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

Bible in One Year: John 14-15, Isaiah 40:27-41:13

Open Heaven 16 February 2019 Saturday MESSAGE:

Divine chastisement is a loving and corrective form of training which leads to godliness, maturity and responsibility. Through it, God trains His people to obey Him. The purpose of divine discipline is to build a community of faithful and loyal Christians who are committed to totally obeying the word of God and are constantly working to please Him. If you are one of those who believe that God’s discipline is unkind, unloving, unfair and difficult, consider the word in Hebrews 12:11, which says:

“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

Although to be chastised by God may be unpleasant experiences which more often than not result in anguish and pain, it invariably produces fruits of righteousness in those who endure it. For this reason, the Holy Spirit encourages us not to despise divine discipline or reject God’s correction, because they are acts through which God demonstrates His love towards anyone that is saved (Hebrews 12:5-6). Proverbs 3:11-12 tells us that chastisement is an expression of love which God reserves only for those whom He delights in. In other words, whenever God reproves and chastises us, we can be certain that He is treating us as a father would treat a beloved child. Discipline should therefore not be viewed as an act of vengeance or hatred. Hebrews 12:7-8 admonishes us to endure discipline as an acceptance of God’s love towards us, because anyone left out of the Father’s correction is an illegitimate child. Chastisement therefore, is evidence of God’s love for His people.

In conclusion, meditate on the words of Job 36:10-12, saying:

“10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. 11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. 12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.”

Submit to divine discipline today, and God will ensure that you spend the rest of your life in joy, peace and prosperity.

Open Heaven 16 February 2019 Saturday Prayer Point:

Father, please, don’t ever withdraw Your discipline from me, and grant me grace to accept your correction in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 16 February 2019 Saturday Hymn 3: Trust And Obey

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

‘God Wanted’ Trump to Be President, Say 45 Percent of GOP Voters

‘God Wanted’ Trump to Be President, Say 45 Percent of GOP Voters

One-fourth of registered voters believe God wanted Donald Trump to be president, although the breakdown — perhaps not surprisingly — is partisan.

A full 25 percent of voters say they believe God wanted Trump to be president, while 62 percent disagree and 14 percent don’t know, according to a new Fox News survey.

Forty-five percent of Republicans and 9 percent of Democrats believe God wanted it.

Among white evangelicals, 55 percent say God wanted Trump to win. That number falls to 36 percent among all Protestants and 20 percent among Catholics, Fox News reported.

The question was asked in light of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders telling CBN: “I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president, and that’s why he’s there.”

The survey sparked more than 5,000 comments on Fox News’ Facebook page.

“Election night was a very supernatural night…too many people were praying for a miracle and we saw it unfold,” one person wrote.

Another person took exception to the poll’s wording, saying that God appoints all leaders, Trump included.

“Romans 13,” the person wrote, quoting Scripture, “let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established…

Rhapsody of Realities 16 February 2019 – The Word mixed With Faith

Rhapsody of Realities 16 February 2019 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome – The Word mixed With Faith

Topic: The Word mixed With Faith

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22).

Faith is acting on the Word. God’s Word is all-powerful—having the ability to produce in you what it talks about. Nonetheless, God’s Word to you won’t produce any result except you act on it; the Word mixed with faith is what produces results. What is faith? Put simply, it’s the response of the human spirit to the Word of God.

Every time you hear God’s Word, faith comes to you in the Word. And because that Word is more real in your spirit than all physical circumstances, it propels you to action. That was what Abraham did; he mixed the Word with faith; he acted on what he heard. In Genesis 17:5, the Lord had told him“…a father of many nations have I made thee” ; but at this time, Abraham was still childless. Then the Bible says Abraham believed “…God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were” (Romans 4:17).

The ensuing verses 19-21 says, “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God….” Could this be you? Could this be the description of your faith? It should, and must be. The Bible says for us to be “…followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Hebrews 6:12).

Thus, like Abraham, always create the right environment for the Word to produce results in your life. Mix the Word with faith. Refuse to consider physical circumstances. Refuse to stagger at the Word of God through unbelief. Yes, God’s Word never fails, but the efficacy of God’s Word in your life depends on your response to the Word. Therefore, take a stand on God’s Word for yourself; be a doer of the Word, and your progress, victories, and success will not only be evident, but also consistent.

CONFESSION
At all times and in all seasons, irrespective of the circumstances or contrary situations, I choose the faith-way. I have the assurance on the basis of the Word that I’m who God says I am, I have what He says I have, and can do all He says I can do! My faith prevails, today and always. Hallelujah!

President Trump Will Declare a National Emergency after Signing the Highly Debated Budget Bill

President Trump Will Declare a National Emergency after Signing the Highly Debated Budget Bill

After reaching a tentative agreement on the border wall funding earlier this week, the U.S. Senate and House have both passed the bipartisan funding bill on Thursday and have sent it to President Trump to sign.

According to ABC News, the President told Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that he will sign the bill despite the fact that it only allows for a quarter of the funds initially requested for the construction of the southern border wall. McConnell also announced that with the signing of the nearly 1,000-page budget bill, President Trump will also be declaring a national emergency.

By declaring a national emergency, President Trump will be able to appropriate funds not assigned to a specific purpose, to building the U.S.-Mexico border wall. ABC News reports that President Trump will announce on Friday, that he plans to spend around $8 billion on a physical barrier on the Southern border.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed this plan in a statement released Thursday noting that President Trump is doing what he feels is necessary to control the border crisis. She said, “President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action – including a national emergency – to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border. ‘There will be more martyrs’, a warning four years on from Christian beheadings on Libya beach

The believers – the vast majority of whom were day labourers from neighbouring Egypt – prompted the Coptic Orthodox Church to declare a day to commemorate all modern-day martyrs around the world.

Archbishop Angaelos, the Coptic Archbishop of London, told Premier the men displayed a “godly peace” in footage capturing the moments before their deaths.

He drew parallels to the biblical account in Daniel 3 of a fourth figure joining Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in King Nebuchadnezzar’s furnace.

The Coptic leader said: “There must have been a 22nd [being] with those 21 men on the beach because the peace that was in their faces, the graciousness, the power, the absolute resilience could only be godly.”

Scores of Coptic Christians in Egypt have died since the massacre in the Libyan city of Sirte – through subsequent attacks on the country’s Christian minority.

Archbishop Angaelos said: “We’ve had Coptic Christians killed in church bombings and shootings in targeted attacks…

“And so, today marks the Libya…

Albert Mohler Apologizes for Support of Pastor Accused of Concealing Sex Abuse

Albert Mohler Apologizes for Support of Pastor Accused of Concealing Sex Abuse

President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Albert Mohler, released a statement Thursday apologizing for his continued support of Pastor C.J. Mahaney who was accused of concealing sex abuse allegations in his church.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Mahaney and Sovereign Grace Ministries, the non-southern Baptist church he used to lead, were sued in 2013 by 11 people claiming that leaders within the church covered up sexual abuse accusations.

Only one person was convicted as a result of this lawsuit and eventually the case was dismissed since the statute of limitations had run out.

The church eventually partnered with the Southern Baptists Convention and changed its name to Sovereign Grace Churches where Mahaney is currently serving as the Senior Pastor, the church’s website states. According to the Chronicle, Mahaney has long maintained his innocence.

For this reason, the Chronicle reports that many other SBC leaders, including Mohler, have stood by Mahaney despite sexual abuse cover-up allegations.

Now, in the wake of the Houston Chronicle investigative report that showed that more than 700 people had been sexually abused by SBC leaders since 1998, many of the people who once stood by Mahaney, are expressing regret.

Mohler told the Chronicle on Thursday, “I believe in retrospect I erred in being part of a statement supportive of…

Tearfund praises ‘powerful wake-up call’ by striking school children on climate change

Tearfund has been praising the action of what’s expected to be thousands of youngsters, as the education secretary urged students not to miss lessons.

Ben Niblett, who co-leads advocacy at the Christian charity, told Premier: “Climate change is so urgent.

“If our young people are giving us a wake-up call to something we – as adults – haven’t really realised the urgency of, then that’s really useful and we welcome that today.

“If school children can safely go to an event near them today as a one-off, then we’re excited they’re doing it and we hope the message gets across.”

Organisers of the Youth Strike 4 Climate movement say strikes are taking place across 60 cities and towns.

Verity Bowman/PA Wire

Inspired by a teenager who regularly protests outside Sweden’s parliament building, the group warned of an “alarming lack” of leadership by the UK Government on climate change.

Education Minister Damian Hinds warned the demonstrations would only increase workloads for teachers.

He said: “I want young people to be engaged in key issues affecting them and involving themselves in causes they care about.

Danny Lawson/PA Wire

“But let me be clear, missing class won’t do a thing to help the environment; all they will do is create extra work for teachers.”

Meanwhile, Christian Aid said the voices of the striking school children…

President to announce $8 billion for border wall

News broke yesterday afternoon that President Trump will sign a border security compromise package that averts another government shutdown. However, this package does not include all the funds Mr. Trump has requested for continued construction of a barrier along our southern border.

ABC News reports that the president plans to announce today his intention to spend about $8 billion on the border wall with a mix of spending from congressional allocations, executive action, and an emergency declaration.

As a nonpartisan ministry, my purpose is not to offer a personal opinion on the political issues involved here. Nor is it to focus on the border wall itself, a subject I addressed recently.

Rather, my goal today is to consider the divisive response to these developments.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders: “The president is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country.”

Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer responded: “Declaring a national emergency would be a lawless act, a gross abuse of the power of the presidency and a desperate attempt to distract from the fact that President Trump broke his core promise to have Mexico pay for his wall.”

Being Baptist and working for IBM

There are clearly significant debates dividing Americans today. Many of us are fundamentally opposed on foundational issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, and euthanasia.

As I wrote recently, media bias also plays a part in the escalating divisions of our day. And the deterioration of traditional religious and institutional affiliations has dissolved valuable cords of community.

There was a time when people spent their lives being Baptist or Catholic and working for IBM or General Motors. As denominational commitment and corporate loyalty have declined, a larger sense of community has decayed with them.

But there’s another foundational issue at work, one we don’t recognize as easily…
