RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 12 August 2018 Lesson 50 – The Crucial Judgment

TOPIC: The Crucial Judgment [RCCG Sunday School Manual 12 August 2018]

Opening Prayer: Father, do not ever let me go back to sin, in the name of Jesus (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School Manual 12 August, 2018 Hymn)

Bible Passage: Revelation 20:11-15 (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 12 August 2018)

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

MEMORY VERSE: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” – Hebrews 9:27

INTRODUCTION:
Judgment is one of the common destinies awaiting all men – Heb. 9:27. Believers and unbelievers, the young and old, the rich and poor, will all face judgment. The judgment will not be corporate but personal. As there is more than one resurrection, there is more than one judgment. Some of the judgments the Bible speak about include the believers’ self-judgment at the communion table – 1Cor. 11:29-31, the judgment of the believers at the judgment seat of Christ- 2 Cor.5:10, the judgment of the nations, Matt. 25:32, and the judgment of the unsaved at the Great white Throne, Rev. 20:11. In this lesson, our focus is on the judgment of the believers and the judgment of the unsaved.

John Gray Compares Trump Meeting to Jesus’ Visit With Tax Collector Zacchaeus and Lepers

(Screenshot: Twitter/@realDonaldTrump)President Donald Trump speaks with a group of black Christian leaders at the White House on Aug. 1, 2018. He is seated next to megachurch pastor John Gray (L) and Alveda King (R).

Pastor John Gray responded to a critic on social media this week by comparing his recent roundtable meeting with President Donald Trump to Jesus’ meeting with a hated tax collector.

On Wednesday, the pastor of Relentless Church in Greenville, South Carolina, responded to a fellow African-American pastor on Instagram after he criticized Gray and a group of about 20 other black pastors for meeting with Trump last Wednesday at the White House to discuss issues related to prison reform and urban job creation.

Pastor Keith McQueen, who founded Powerhouse Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, wrote that he “can’t respect” Gray’s decision to “condone the behavior of an egotistical, misogynistic, narcissistic clown that has turned our country into a circus with his quarrelsome and divisive rants.”

McQueen further argued that Gray, who previously served as associate pastor at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, “has affirmed the behavior of this man by sitting at the table to ‘discuss’ prison reform and urban revitalization with a man that has never cared…

Church of Scotland minister says sorry for ‘hurt’ at LGBT event

Rev Scott Burton from Matthew’s Church in Perth delivered an address on Saturday afternoon at the city’s first ever Perthshire Pride event which celebrates LGBT identities.

He was quoted by Dundee-based The Courier newspaper as saying: “I am absolutely over the moon to be invited to open this fabulous occasion, it is an incredible honour.

“I will be taking the opportunity to apologise to members of the LGBT community if they have felt hurt, insulted and ostracised from the Church of Scotland.

“Forgive us for all the pain we have caused you and which we continue to inflict on you”.

Rev Burton, who is thought to have become the first Church of Scotland minister to ever officially open a pride event, said all LGBT people were welcome at his church.

Last year, the Church of Scotland leaders approved an apology to gay people “for the history of discrimination they have faced in the Church”.

They also approved a controversial report which could pave the way to allow some ministers to conduct same-sex marriages in the future.

Boris Johnson’s burka comments divide Anglican clergy

One London priest said any clothing used to hide the face in public were “unacceptable”, while a vicar from Manchester said he would “go to the stake” in support of the right of women to wear a face-covering veil.

While saying he would not support the UK following Denmark by implementing a ban on the burka and niqab, the former foreign secretary compared Muslim women wearing them to bank robbers or letter-boxes.

Fr David Ackerman from St John the Evangelist in Kensal Green suggested Mr Johnson’s line on face-covering veils was not strong enough.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, he said: “Covering one’s face in public should be outlawed.

“The implications of this extend from demonstrators who wear masks to those who choose to wear a certain form of cultural dress (which, incidentally, has no religious mandate)”.

Mr Johnson’s comments angered several senior Conservative figures, including the Prime Minister who said he ought to apologise.

PA

Meanwhile, Rev Geoffrey Howard from Radcliffe in Greater Manchester said he applauded Boris Johnson, asking: “People can poke fun at death, sex, politicians, the clergy, royalty and even the Christian God.

“Nothing is beyond humour.

“Since when has causing offence been an inhibitor to our nation’s sense of humour?

“I would go to the stake in support of a woman’s right to wear the niqab -…

6 Signs Your Spouse is Guilty of Financial Infidelity — Art Rainer

Financial infidelity—lying about financial matters to your spouse. It is not as rare as we would all like to hope. According to recent reports, 20% of respondents admitted they had made purchases of $500 or more without their spouse knowing. Six percent confessed to having secret accounts. God designed marriage as an all-in deal. Husband and wife are to pursue oneness in all areas of their marriage. Including their finances.

What Do Pastors Enjoy Most About Their Job? — Facts & Trends

Above all the other aspects of their jobs, most pastors say what they love most is preaching. Not surprisingly, that’s also what they say they’re best at. In addition to pastors’ favorite part of their job, Barna also found how satisfied pastors were with their vocation, their specific church, and what was most frustrating for them. Overall, 72 percent of senior pastors say they are very satisfied with being a pastor. Only 28 percent say they are less satisfied.

4 Ways Elders Should Seek Accountability — Dave Harvey

Guys, let’s face it. If a pastor’s accountability isn’t in the local church, it’s probably not real accountability. It might give the illusion of accountability so he can traffic in the vocabulary without the entanglements of the substance. Here’s the problem: Not everyone is clear on what they mean when they use the word “accountability.” Let me suggest four values we should seek to experience in…

African president assures church leaders he’ll never redefine marriage

The leader of Ghana since the January last year, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressed a major meeting of evangelicals in the capital, Accra.

He was quoted by the Ghana News Agency as saying: “Let me assure you that this government has no plans to change the law on same sex marriage.

“We have no authority and we will not seek any authority to do so.”

Mr Akufo-Addo was responding to a plea made by the Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, which claims 135,000 congregants across Ghana.

He spoke at the Church’s 2018 synod, a meeting of its governing body. It followed the theme “effective discipleship – the cross and our commitment”.

Homosexuality remains illegal in Ghana and the majority of African countries.

Since November 2016, South Africa has been the first and only country in Africa where same-sex couples can marry.

Ghana is a markedly more religious than many Western European nations, with more than half of adults identifying as Christian and less than five per cent defining themselves as non-religious.

He led Greyfriars church in Reading before becoming an honorary assistant priest in Wallingford.

The Bishop of Dorchester, Rt Rev Colin Fletcher said: “We were deeply saddened by the news of the death of the Revd Jim Spence.

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 11 August 2018 Devotional — The Peaceful Mind

Topic: The Peaceful Mind [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Saturday August 11, 2018]

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds. — Hebrews 10:16

What is it about nighttime that makes us more vulnerable to satanic attack? Is it because daylight is gone and it’s dark? Is there some kind of association between evil and the dark hours of night? We are usually able to cope with whatever happens to us during the day, but sometimes it’s a different story at night.

My theory is that by evening, most of us are tired and weary, and we just want to lie down, close our eyes, and drift into peaceful sleep. That is one of Satan’s favorite times to engage us in the battle for our minds. He knows that when we are exhausted and sleepy, we are not as resistant to his attacks. And just as we are about to drop off to sleep, he makes his move.

If we recognize that we’re more susceptible to the attack of the enemy at night, we can take steps to be better prepared to stand against him. Some of my friends tell me that they find it helps to meditate on scriptures such as Philippians 4:8 (AMP), which tells us to think on good things—things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and excellent.

Or they claim the promise of Isaiah 26:3: You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character]…. These words from the Bible enable us to remain vigilant even in the dark hours of night. By using the Word of God, we can defeat every onslaught of the enemy—even in our weakest hours.

But if we have not armed ourselves with the Word and spent some time in prayer, we will fall for Satan’s plan when he brings to mind some troublesome event of the day, and asks, “Why did you say that? How could you have been so insensitive?”

He takes advantage of us when he knows we are weak and the most vulnerable to his influence. His goal is to disturb our thoughts and rob us of the peaceful rest that our bodies need. One of his tricks is to cause us to focus on the problems of the day, suggesting that we must immediately—in the middle of the night—determine the best way to settle the issue.

I experienced nights like this years ago, and I didn’t always win the battle. But as a mature Christian, I now know how to fight the good fight of faith. Here’s one thing I figured out a long time ago: It is not wise to make decisions in the middle of the night. There may be times when God demands an immediate surrender, and those are powerful moments in our lives. But most decisions can wait until the next day.

Perhaps we spoke hastily or didn’t respond kindly to someone’s need. The issues are often little things that we probably could have handled better. But as Satan wages his battle in the dark of night, those little things seem to take on importance and urgency—so much so that we believe we will never sleep unless we settle the issue immediately.

When Satan tries to pull that nighttime trick on me, I’ve learned to say, “I’ll deal with this issue in the morning, when the sun is shining. After I’ve rested, I can cope.” I’ve also learned that I can say, “Lord, I surrender this to You. Give me Your rest, Your peace, and help me to make the right decision in the morning.” That works for me!

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, thank You for being with me, for protecting me, and for guiding my life. When I face those dark nights and the enemy tries to attack my mind, protect me. I trust You and ask You to keep me in Your perfect peace. Amen.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 11 August 2018

TOPIC: Conversion without Conviction (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Saturday, 11 August 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 5:1-4

MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

The MESSAGE:

The beauty of our faith is in its simplicity, for the Bible says, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10). This means that we must first believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation and with this conviction in our hearts, make a confession of what we have believed. This conviction is what makes the difference between one converted soul and another and it is what will make the one converted to stand in the day of temptation. With the heart, you believe every word of God and your heart is continually being nurtured unto righteousness by the word of God. It is conviction that makes you surrender all to Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. When you surrender all to Jesus, you cannot live a life of your own again but as directed by the Master. Conviction makes you burn the bridge and you can never turn back again, meaning that backsliding is not an option for you. Peter made a statement of conviction in John 6:68-69 when he said: “Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” This is a statement of conviction which leads to commitment and it is what every believer must strive to achieve in the faith, not mere confession of the name of Jesus but a conviction in the heart.

Ananias and Sapphira confessed the name of Jesus and joined the believers. As it is today, their souls were believed to have been won for the Lord. When they saw the commitment being demonstrated by those who were convicted as they were selling off their properties to finance the gospel, they also wanted to show that they were committed so they decided to sell their land. But unlike others, they were not convinced in their hearts that they should surrender all to Jesus so they kept back part of the proceeds of the land. Unfortunately for them, the Holy Ghost exposed them and imposed instant judgement of death on them. This is the danger of conversion without conviction.

The experience today shows that there are many converted souls who are yet to be convinced in their hearts that Jesus is the all-sufficient God for them. They sing “I surrender all”, but it does not come from the heart. They hear the word of God but do not allow it to sink into and remain in their heart so that it can do the work of regeneration. They remain converted but not convicted so it becomes impossible to be committed. They are in the church but not in Christ and therefore not new creatures. Old things have not passed away and nothing has become new. They do abominable things and visit strange places in search of solution to their problem. They are ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth. If you find any trace of this situation in your life, ask the Holy Spirit to help you out.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
IT IS CONVICTION THAT MAKES YOU SURRENDER ALL TO JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR.

PROPHETIC WORD:
May your confession match your conviction.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Unbelief, I cast you out of my life, in the name of Jesus.
2. Powers eating the word of God in my life, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
3. Spiritual instability, get out of my life by fire, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Holy Spirit, help me to surrender my life fully to Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
5. Hardness in my heart, melt away by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. I decree that the word of God shall take a firm root in my heart, in the name of Jesus.

Billy Graham 11th August 2018 – The Unmerited Favor of God

Topic: The Unmerited Favor of God [Billy Graham Daily Devotional 11 August, 2018]

For by grace are ye saved . . . — Ephesians 2:8

“Grace,” according to the dictionary, is the unmerited favor of God toward mankind. The word “grace” is used over 170 times in the New Testament alone. Grace is not bought. It is a free gift of almighty God to needy mankind. When I picture Jesus Christ dying on the cross, I see the free gift of God’s grace in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. I sing with the songwriter, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.” Your human mind, with its philosophy of an equal return for favors done, can hardly comprehend the full meaning of this grace of God. But when you catch, by the inspiration of God, its full meaning, you will leave the limits of human reasoning and revel in the spiritual riches of divine truth and privilege.

Yes, the grace of God is a reality. Thousands have tried, tested, and proved that it is more than a cold creed, a docile doctrine, or a tedious theory. The grace of God has been tested in the crucible of human experience, and has been found to be more than an equal for the problems and sins of humanity.

Prayer for the day: Lord, this day help me to come to a more full and abundant awareness of Your bountiful grace. Stimulate me to serve You.
