Dying 27-Year-Old Writes Emotional ‘Note Before I Die’ before Passing Away

Dying 27-Year-Old Writes Emotional ‘Note Before I Die’ before Passing Away

Before leaving this world, dying 27-year-old Holly Butcher gave the rest of us some powerful advice in her ‘Note Before I Die.’

We all know death is inevitable. And yet, we don’t expect it to come so early for many of us. Holly Butcher from New South Wales in Australia certainly falls into the category of “too young to die.”

Doctors gave Holly the terrible news when she was just 26 years old. She suffered from Ewing’s sarcoma — a rare form of cancer in and around the bones that mainly affects young people.

The news completely blindsided Holly.

“It’s a strange thing to realise and accept your mortality at 26 years young,” she wrote in the opening of her ‘Note Before I Die.’ “It’s just one of those things you ignore. The days tick by and you just expect they will keep on coming; Until the unexpected happens.”

Holly’s diagnosis came as a shock to her family, as well. The active, vibrant young woman seemed to exude good health.

To hear she was living with a ticking time bomb inside of her seemed impossible.

“She embodied good health,” Holly’s brother, Dean, explained. “As a dietitian, she ate all the right foods, she exercised regularly and didn’t drink much alcohol. But that’s the thing about cancer… it’s non-discriminatory.”

Doctors gave Holly no hope. The stage 4 cancer had already spread to most of her…

Police, Security Called in at Highpoint Church After Members Revolt at Family Meeting, Witness Says

(Photo: Instagram)A scene from Highpoint Church in Memphis, Tenn. in happier times.

Police and private security officers were reportedly summoned to a family meeting at Highpoint Church in Memphis last Tuesday after members erupted in open rebellion against church leaders over the vague explanation provided about the departure of the church’s founder, Chris Conlee.

Conlee delivered an emotional farewell to the congregation on July 15, just days after he announced his resignation from the church following six months of headlines about the sex abuse scandal involving former teaching pastor Andy Savage.

At the family meeting where between 1,000 and 2,000 people showed up expecting a deeper discussion of the circumstances surrounding Conlee’s abrupt resignation, Brad McDaniel, a counselor who says he is not a member of the church but attended the meeting, described what happened in a video posted to a public Facebook group called Highpoint Leadership Crisis (Unofficial).

McDaniel said the meeting went on for about one hour and involved the church’s board of trustees and several senior staff. The leadership team delivered a PowerPoint presentation on stage, highlighting things like the organizational structure of the church, its governing structure and its…

Egyptian church celebrates first mass in 7 years since church was shut down

Church of the Virgin Mary and Martyr Abanoub Al Nahisi, in a village south of Cairo, was closed eleven years ago by local authorities who cited security reasons.

The church members had been attending another church in a nearby village in the meantime.

Around 1,600 people celebrated the completion of the first stage of the new church building on Sunday.

According to World Watch Monitor, the Copts have been persecuted by Muslim neighbors since the closure of the church.

It’s been reported that Muslims set fire to four Coptic Christian homes in the village two years ago when it was suspected that the homes would be turned into a church.

The Christians withdrew their arson complaints last year in exchange for permission to build a new church.

As soon as the charges were dropped in January, the community started building the new church building.

Tim Tebow’s Baseball Season Ends, His Bachelorhood to Follow?

Tim Tebow’s Baseball Season Ends, His Bachelorhood to Follow?

Minor League Baseball player and household name, Tim Tebow, suffered a hand injury this past weekend, and is expected to end this season early.

The Mets’ Minor League OF was swinging his bat and broke a bone in his right hand. He will have surgery today to repair his hamate bone, but insiders are saying the season is over for Tebow.

“Another Setback for Tim Tebow,” Jim Denison reports, as Tebow is no stranger to career bumps in the road, having played briefly for three NFL teams, however; Fox News asserts he is a fighter:

“Though pundits and pontificators will likely suggest this setback could be the final nail in Tebow’s unlikely rise to Major League Baseball, I wouldn’t be so sure,” they continue, “Tim Tebow’s been able to consistently get up because he looks up to a God who he loves – and who he knows loves him.”

Baseball is not the only thing in Tebow’s life. He recently confirmed his relationship with former Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters: “She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life. I am usually very private…

Death Count in Greek Wildfires Climbs to 50 – Urban Christian News

Wildfires raged through seaside resorts near the Greek capital, torching homes, cars and forests and killing at least 50 people, authorities said Tuesday. Twenty-six of the dead were believed to be groups of families or friends who were found huddled together, some of them hugging.

Rescue crews were searching the charred remains of homes and cars in the deadliest of the fires, the one in the Rafina area northeast of Athens, and there were fears the death toll could rise. More than 170 people were treated in hospitals for injuries including burns.

The country’s prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, declared three days of national mourning for those killed in the deadliest fire season to hit Greece in more than a decade.

With the flames whipped up by gale-force winds that frequently changed direction, many tourists and residents fled toward the coastline. Some swam out to sea, braving rough water and strong currents to escape the ferocious flames and choking smoke. A flotilla of boats, including some from the coast guard, evacuated more than 700 people by sea from threatened beaches overnight, authorities said.

“It happened very fast. The fire was in the distance, then sparks from the fire reached us. Then the fire was all around us,” said resident Nikos Stavrinidis, who had gone with his wife to fix up his summer home for a visit by his daughter.

Dozens of people have died and well over 100 are injured after forest fires swept through popular seaside holiday areas near Athens, Greece. Authorities say strong winds are fanning the flames, which are moving quickly into populated…

‘Unadventurous’ Brits are missing out on churches and other local treasures, poll suggests

The National Churches Trust (NCT) encouraged visitors to explore their local Christian places of worship after the poll concluded one in ten people cannot name a single local landmark or tourist attraction – religious or secular.

Tourism manager at the organisation, Sarah Crossland told Premier: “There is history, social history and stories… caught up in those buildings, built into them over generations and hundreds of years.

“So, there are all sorts of things to explore.”

Research conducted by Opinium found one-in-eight people would find it difficult to keep themselves entertained during a weekend break spent in their local area.

Meanwhile, one in eight admitted to being more familiar with fictional settings in their favourite soap operas such as Coronation Street or EastEnders.

Referring to local chapels and churches, Sarah Crossland from the NCT continued: “They can really show you objects, art, architecture and stories in the proper context, in the area where they’re meant to be.

“They’ve got sculptures and monuments that are of people who are local to you and of stories that are local to you.”

The study, which was commissioned by Westons Cider, ranked Westminster Cathedral as the fifth most-visited landmark in the country, with 44 per cent of respondents saying they had been to the London landmark.

The beverage firm commented: “Despite this unadventurous…

‘Biblical Disaster’: 70-Plus Dead In Greece Wildfires

‘Biblical Disaster’: 70-Plus Dead In Greece Wildfires

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday declared a three-day period of national mourning after coastal wildfires killed at least 70 and injured more than 180 in what experts are calling the worst outbreak of fires there in more than a decade.

Firefighters were struggling to gain control of the wildfires, which were spreading through the coastal city of Mati about 25 miles east of Athens. Many of the dead are tourists.

Greek Interior Minister Panos Skourletis compared it to a “biblical disaster,” according to Sky News.

Even the beach wasn’t safe. One tourist who was on the shore told the BBC, “Thankfully the sea was there and we went into the sea, because the flames were chasing us all the way to the water. It burned our backs and we dived into the water.”

In one tragic location, 26 adults and children died in a field about 100 feet from the beach. Rescuers discovered their bodies close together, as if they had huddled.

“They had tried to find an escape route but unfortunately these people and their kids didn’t make it in time,” Nikos Economopoulos, head of Greece’s Red Cross, told the BBC. “Instinctively, seeing the end nearing, they embraced.”

The combination of a dry winter and a warm summer sparked the wildfires.

“Today Greece is mourning,” Tsipras said in a televised address “And in the memory of those who were lost, we call three…

Thai Soccer Teammates & Coach Have Heads Shaved for Buddhist Ordination – Urban Christian News

The young soccer teammates and their coach who were rescued after being trapped in a cave in northern Thailand had their heads shaved in a ceremony Tuesday as they prepared to be ordained as Buddhist novices and monks.

Eleven of the 12 boys and their coach prayed to ancient relics and offered drinks and desserts in gilded bowls to spirits at a Buddhist temple. The 12th team member who was trapped in the cave didn’t take part because he isn’t Buddhist.

The boys, whose ages range from 11 to 16, will be ordained to become Buddhist novices in a ceremony on Wednesday, while the 25-year-old coach will be ordained as a monk, said Parchon Pratsakul, the governor of Chiang Rai province.

Wednesday’s ordainment ceremony will take place at another temple on a Chiang Rai mountaintop before the group returns to reside for more than a week at the Wat Pha That Doi Wao temple near Thailand’s northern border with Myanmar. That temple is close to the group’s homes, making it easier for friends and relatives to visit.

“This temple will be where they will reside after the ordination and I hope they will find peace, strength and wisdom from practicing Buddha’s teaching,” said the temple’s acting abbot, Phra Khru Prayutjetiyanukarn.

Buddhist males in Thailand are traditionally expected to enter the monkhood, often as novices, at some point in their lives to show gratitude, often toward their parents for raising them. It’s believed that once a person is ordained they gain merit that is also extended to their parents.

“Ordinations are supposed to give us peace of mind,” said…

Athens church leader pleads for prayers after deadly wildfires

Wildfires have raged through seaside resorts near the Greek capital, killing dozens of people and causing tourists to flee.

Rescuers battling through the blazes which destroyed homes and forests near Athens discovered 26 bodies huddled together at one holiday compound, all believed to be family members. Some of them were hugging.

Many tourists and residents fled towards the coastline to escape the flames and choking smoke.

Rev Canon Leonard Doolan is the senior chaplain at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Athens.

He told Premier News Hour one member of his congregation was injured in the blazes.

“One person is in fact in hospital here in Athens suffering from smoke inhalation and that person’s house has been destroyed by fire and so has her car.”

The two largest wildfires – one 20 miles north-east of Athens near Rafina, the other 30 miles west of the capital in Kineta – broke out on Monday during hot, dry summer conditions.

Fanned by gale-force winds that frequently changed direction, the flames spread rapidly into populated seaside towns – too fast for many who were in their cars or homes to flee, fire department spokeswoman Stavroula Malliri said.

Ultrasound Ad Is Too ‘Political,’ Government Company Says

Ultrasound Ad Is Too ‘Political,’ Government Company Says

A government-run public transportation company violated the U.S. Constitution when it refused to accept a pro-life organization’s ad showing pictures of unborn babies from ultrasounds, a new lawsuit alleges.

Alliance Defending Freedom filed suit Monday against CityBus — which serves Lafayette and West Lafayette, Ind. – after the company rejected an ad from Tippecanoe County Right to Life (TCRTL), a local pro-life organization. CityBus said the proposed ad expressed a “political viewpoint” in violation of the advertising policy.

The ad showed three pictures: two of a baby from an ultrasound and one picture of a newborn baby. Superimposed over the photos are the words, “ME,” “ME AGAIN” and “STILL ME.”

CityBus violated the free speech clause of the First Amendment and the due process and equal protection clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment, the suit says.

“An unborn baby’s humanity is a scientific fact, but even debatable ‘political viewpoints’ can’t be silenced by government officials whenever they dislike them,” said ADF legal counsel Samuel Green. “When the government creates an opportunity for advertising on countless topics, it cannot unreasonably single out life-affirming, educational messages for censorship. The First Amendment protects freedom of speech for all people, regardless of their beliefs.”

CityBus previously had accepted…
