Free food and drinks are going to be provided by McDonald’s to customers who start making purchases using their mobile app.

One of the chain’s current offers is for free medium fries.

The fast food giant began offering free french fries last week as part of National French Fry Day. Evidently, that was not a one time thing, as the offer will remain available until at least the end of the year.

To take McDonald’s up on its offer of free fries, customers must first download its app. Registration is required to use the app.

Customers will then have to make at least a $1 purchase to become qualified for the offer.

The free medium fries offer will continue until at least the end of the year, but the free fries can only be claimed once every Friday.

McDonald’s is also offering free soft drinks to its patrons.

The free beverage can only be claimed on Tuesdays.

According to a report from CNN, the offer of free fries and drinks are part of McDonald’s strategy to get more people using its app, and in the process, it is also hoping to appeal more to younger customers.

Speaking to CNN, BTIG restaurant analyst Peter Saleh pointed out that McDonald’s saves on labor costs whenever customers place their orders via the app because the kitchen is directly informed of what the customer wants.

McDonald’s is also appealing to the breakfast crowd with deals on McCafe beverages.

Customers who purchase five McCafe beverages via the app will get one for free. This offer is also good until the end of the year. People can…

Five Future Developments Coming to the Church

Podcast Episode #450

SUBSCRIBE: iTunes • RSS • Stitcher • TuneIn Radio • Google Play • iHeart Radio

Churches of the future will have many of the same components of churches today, but there are changes that will take place. Today, we cover five of those changes.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Churches of all sizes are starting to embrace the multi-site model.
  • Multi-site will soon be as normative as multi-service is.
  • Healthy churches almost always have healthy discipleship groups.
  • New ideas the church should be tried out of accommodation, not out of compromise.

The five future developments we discuss are:

  1. Shifts in the multisite model.
  2. More churches seeking to be acquired or merged into a multisite system.
  3. Return to some level of programmatic behavior.
  4. Rise of networks.
  5. The attendance frequency issue becoming a greater focus.

University Professor Resigns After Allegations of Inappropriate Sexual Conduct

University Professor Resigns After Allegations of Inappropriate Sexual Conduct

A Taylor University professor, who has worked in Christian publishing for years, has stepped down from his teaching position after being accused of inappropriate sexual conduct with students 14 years ago.

Dennis E. Hensley is accused of hugging and kissing a student in 2004 after she told the professor that she had been recently raped. The university was notified of the incident but it did not force him to resign.

The student, Rachel Custer, was 23 at the time. She said she told him she had been raped and had reported the assault to police. Custer says Hensley held her hands while she cried, hugged her, kissed her tears and then kissed her on the mouth.

Custer said she pulled away and left the room before Hensley told her that the incident would be their “little secret.”

“It’s just hard to explain how much this messed with me,” she said. “After the situation I’d been through, I thought I was in a place that was completely safe.”

Hensley, however, says he has meant for his actions to be supportive and not sexual.

“I was trying to be gracious. I was trying to be comforting. I meant nothing in the way of any harm to her,” Hensley said in an interview with Inside Higher Ed. “Now this is coming out 14 years later, with this whole ‘Me Too’ kind of thing, and everyone is piling on the bandwagon.”

Because of his experience in the…

Pastor of PCA Church Hosting Revoice Conference Addresses Concerns Over Gay Identity, Language

(Photo: Screengrab, Crosspolitic)Crosspolitic broadcast about the Revoice Conference with Pastor Greg Johnson, Memorial Presbyterian, a PCA congregation in St. Louis, Missouri, July 15, 2018.

The pastor whose church is hosting the Revoice conference next weekend is addressing the confusion many have expressed about the event amid concerns unclean spirituality is being allowed into the Church.

The Revoice conference says it intends to “support, encourage, and empower” LGBT Christians and promote their “flourishing” within the historic Christian tradition and its doctrine of marriage and sexuality. It is scheduled to take place next weekend at Memorial Presbyterian, a PCA congregation in St. Louis, Missouri.

In a lively interview on the CrossPolitic podcast Sunday, Greg Johnson, who pastors Memorial Presbyterian, insisted the conference is approaching this in a way that attempts to cut through semantics and instead engage the issues of substance when it comes to Christians who may identify themselves as “gay.”

Right from the start, Johnson was asked by host Jason Farley if he would allow his church to be used for a conference aiming to speak to Christians who say they have sexual attractions to children.

“If you’re talking about people who have sexual brokenness, and they…

French Investigators Raid Home of Macron’s Bodyguard – Urban Christian News

Paris prosecutor’s office says investigators have raided the house of one of French President Emmanuel Macron’s top security aides, who was caught on camera beating a protester in May.

The presidential Elysee Palace fired Alexandre Benalla a day before police raided his home Saturday morning in the Parisian suburb of Issy-Les-Moulineaux.

Benalla was identified earlier this week by the Le Monde newspaper for beating a young protester during May Day protests while wearing a police helmet. He and a second man are facing potential charges and are in police custody until Sunday.

Benalla’s involvement in the beating is turning into Macron’s biggest political crisis since taking office last year.

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb will face questions from parliament next week to see if there were failures in the government’s handling of the affair.

Trump-Putin press conference: “Disgraceful” or “Trump derangement syndrome”?

Like millions of others, I watched the press conference between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday. Then I watched reactions in the press, and it was as if there were two different events.

Fox News reports that the president is facing “harsh bipartisan criticism back home” from lawmakers who claimed he “missed a chance to ‘stand up’ to the Russian president on election meddling.” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was especially critical, calling the president’s statements “one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.”

By contrast, several Republican leaders were supportive of Mr. Trump’s meeting with Mr. Putin. For instance, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ken., called critics of President Trump’s approach to Russia “mistaken” and said, “We should look for ways to make the dialogue better.” He described the president’s critics as victims of “Trump derangement syndrome.”

Our “post-truth” culture

Oxford Dictionaries selected “post-truth” as its international word of the year in 2016. The decision seems appropriate in our relativistic culture.

For example, Episcopal Church leaders decided last week to allow same-sex couples to marry in their home parish, even if their local bishop objects morally to gay marriage. This despite objections from some bishops that such a move would force Episcopalians “to accept social and cultural practices that have no Biblical basis in Christian worship.”

One bishop explained the motive behind the move: “Folks just want to be married at home.”

Episcopalians are by no means the only denomination to struggle with reconciling biblical truth and contemporary culture. The United Methodist Church, America’s second-largest Protestant denomination, is planning a special General Conference next year to decide its position on LGBTQ issues and marriage.

Presbyterians have divided into various denominations, largely over…

“If they don’t make it, Lord take me too” said Christian survivor of Missouri boat

The tourist boat capsized during tremendous gails on a lake in Missouri.

17 people died, including the driver, with it being reported that the 31 passengers were told not to wear life jackets.

Nine of those 17 were the Coleman family, relatives from Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Indiana who were on holiday and were planning on going for dinner afterwards.

Tia Coleman was on the boat but survived and has spoken in detail about the experience, in which she lost her husband, three children, uncle, sister-in-law, nephew and her husband’s parents.

Speaking about her husband, Coleman said: “He was so loving, and he didn’t look like he was but he was!”

She said her oldest son Reece, 9, ‘made life worth living’, that her 7 year-old son was ‘extremely smart’ and her youngest daughter Aria, 1, had ‘1000 personalities’ and would ‘blow kisses’.

She described the moment she didn’t know where her children were: “It was…it was the worst feeling you could ever feel, and then the one thing I remember saying is ‘If they don’t make it, Lord take me too, there’s really no need for me to be here’. And I just…its very hard to describe, as a mother its very hard to describe.”

“I thought I was gonna die anyway so it just felt like the right thing to do at the time”

She said “I’ve had people that, of course with permission, asked if they could pray for me, pray with me,…

Chick-fil-A Set to Discontinue Cow Calendars

(Photo: Wikimedia Commons/Michael Rivera)A Chick-fil-A restaurant in Lowndes County, Georgia

Some bad news broke recently for Chick-fil-A fans, as the popular fast food chain has announced plans to discontinue its Cow Calendars.

The company confirmed the move in an updated post on its website, adding that it will take effect at the end of the year.

A spokesperson for the company told Fox News, “We never like to disappoint our customers, so for that we are sorry, but we will continue to look for new ways to serve our guests in fun and creative ways.”

Introduced back in 1998, the Cow Calendars are designed to give more people easier access to Chick-fil-A’s food. Free food coupons and details for monthly offers are even included in the calendars.

Among the treats that could be offered to customers with Cow Calendars are the chain’s signature chicken sandwich, an 8-piece order of chicken nuggets and even some waffle potato fries.

Because the phase-out of the Cow Calendars isn’t taking effect until the end of the year, customers can still take advantage of the offers in the coming months.

Owners of Cow Calendars can continue to drop by Chick-fil-A restaurants in their area, present their Cow Calendar Card and still order the featured item.

Chick-fil-A is accepting…

Seven Reasons Pastors Burn Out

Some pastors burn out but don’t get out.

The financial pressure to keep a job often keeps men in the ministry when it is really time to get out and find another job.

Know that; been there.

Friends are few and far between. Time off in a county seat town church is rare. Bullies who know the pastor “can’t fight back” are on the warpath. Their numbers are increasing.

It is a hard day for young pastor. Bi-vo is the way to go.

If the pastor has to leave, at least he has a job and his own home. Also, it is a new awakening to “work” at a job every day like we ask our church members to do and still support the church.

I spent 17 1/2 years in two county seat town churches ( both First Baptist). However, at the end of the second one, I was “burned out.”. Two men, in particular, were the worst bullies I have ever seen. They were devilishly relentless.

I promised God if He would give me a “job”, I would “stay” in the ministry as a bi-vo.
I had to return to school and acquire an M.A. in my undergraduate field. But, I got a job.

I have worked at that job 23 years continuous and have been blessed being in a “one-horse church” and being the “one horse.”

A word to younger pastors: develop a money-making skill you can do either as a bi-vo pastor or be prepared to “retool” in the event of being thrown out of a full-support church.

So many church people today are merciless. They will toss a pastor out when he has no place to go with no severance pay. The…

Hindu Extremist Sexually Assaults Pastor’s Wife at Church Service in India; Victim and Husband Charged

Hindu Extremist Sexually Assaults Pastor’s Wife at Church Service in India; Victim and Husband Charged

Pratibha Stephen was immersed in worship at the house church her husband pastors in Tamil Nadu state, India when a man suddenly burst through the back door, shouting angrily.

The intruder interrupted an elderly man’s singing and cymbal-playing by twisting his hands behind his back at the Jesus Power Ministries house church in Sathyamangalam, Erode District that Sunday morning, July 8, causing him to howl in pain. Stephen went over to stop the harassment.

The intruder pushed her away, shouting, “Don’t you understand what my boss Guruswamy told you people? Don’t you have shame? How many times must you be told that there should not be any Christian prayer meetings in the area?”

The Hindu extremist, identified as Ajith Kumar, became uncontrollably angry and started beating her, Stephen told Morning Star News.

“I reprimanded him that he must not touch me and should leave immediately,” she said. “He continued spewing abusive words, and within minutes, he touched me again, and he forcefully pulled my sari off of me. I resisted him with all my strength and shouted for help.”

Her husband, pastor Paul Stephen, was away leading a worship service in Bhavani Sagar, about six miles away. The elderly church member and a few others tried to push Kumar off, but he held tightly to her sari, stripped it off and kicked her to the floor,…
