Bahamas residents pray as Hurricane Dorian reaches category 4 strength
The storm’s winds rose to 130mph as Dorian gained new strength while crossing warm Atlantic waters.
The storm is expected to approach the northwest Bahamas on Saturday and then move over or near that region on Sunday.
Though Dorian is growing in intensity, some of the more reliable computer models predicted a late turn northward that would have Dorian hug the coast, the National Hurricane Centre said.
Dorian was located 480 miles east of the northwest Bahamas and about 660 miles east of West Palm Beach in Florida at 11am on Friday, US East Coast time.
It had maximum sustained winds of 110mph and was moving northwest at 10mph.
Properties were being boarded up and shops were selling supplies as residents braced themselves for the arrival of Dorian.
A hurricane watch was in effect for northwestern Bahamas, where long lines formed at gas stations and grocery stores on Friday.
In Grand Bahama Island, supplies like canned food and bottled water were quickly disappearing.
“The food store is very packed,” said 47-year-old Gina Davis as she pushed her grocery cart through the aisle.
“I’m very concerned because it’s going to be a Category Four storm. … We pray to God that it don’t do us bad.”
Government officials said prime minister Hubert Minnis was scheduled to address Bahamians at noon and urge people to take…

The Most Critical Step in Introducing Change — Ron Edmondson
That’s the most critical step. The way you begin will impact everything else. It’s like a first impression – very hard to come back from if done wrong. If you want the change to be effective, you’ve got to invest time in introducing it well – especially to those that will be most impacted by the change.
The Power of Prayer in Church Revitalization — Facts & Trends
In Colossians 1, Paul makes clear that Jesus Christ is the head of the church. As the head, He alone has the power to bring back to life a church that’s on the brink of death. The good news is, of course, that He loves to bring things that were once dead, back to life.

We can see a dotted line from 1806 to the present, for the Haystack Prayer event is, in many ways, the Wittenberg Door of American evangelicalism’s awakening to the need and universal call for all believers to support, organize, and send many for global gospel proclamation.
5 Things Churches Can Learn from Guerrilla Marketing — Kevin Hall
We should all agree that we aren’t in a numbers game for the sake of numbers. However, numbers do represent people – and biblical church growth is about reaching out to people, seeing them come to know Christ, and then discipling them into mature Christ-followers. Numerical growth is the natural result of these efforts. Here are a few marketing “take-aways” every…

New Methodist youth president
The 18-year-old who attends Queensway Methodist Church in Bletchley will help be the voice of young people within the Methodist Church listening and raising concerns on issues young Methodists have.
She said she decided to stand for Youth President to help “spread the Good News and encourage other young people to become involved in the life of the Church”.
Thelma said: “I decided to stand for Youth President because I am passionate about the work of God and would love to encourage young people to get involved. My campaign, entitled ‘Jesus Loves All’, focused on presenting Jesus Christ as a saviour, through the talents of young people.
Thelma told Premier: “I’m very excited to be serving as president this year. There’s so many amazing things you get to do as president. What I am most excited about is the opportunity to go around the whole country and visit different young people and listen to their stories that they have and hear what God is doing in their life.
“I would like to thank the young people of the Methodist Church for voting for me and tell them that God loves them so much, as do I. I honestly feel so blessed and I am very grateful for this opportunity. I pray that God will guide me throughout the year to be the best I can be at this role.”
Every year the new president chooses a theme that shapes what they do throughout the year; Thelma…
