Thousands Gather in Puerto Rico to Pray for and Protest the Government following Governor’s Mismanagement
Thousands are gathering in Puerto Rico to demand the resignation of Gov. Ricky Rosselló after text messages showed mismanagement.
According to the Christian Post, thousands of people have been gathering for about 10 days and holding peaceful demonstrations with singing, dancing, yoga and holding signs while sky diving or scuba diving.
Hundreds also kneeled at the foot of a famous fort in San Juan, Castillo de San Felipe del Morro, praying for their country.
“Forgive tribalist, if we’ve failed you in being contentious or for anything, forgive us, my God. We are a nation that loves you, Lord,” a man is heard praying on a bullhorn in Spanish in a video released on social media.
“Glory to God,” he added.
The demonstrations started after leaked messages from a group chat showed that the governor had been discussing confidential government information with profane and sexist language.
In one message, Chief Financial Officer Christian Sobrino writes that he is “dying to shoot” San Juan Mayor Yulin Cruz “up.”
In response, the governor wrote, “You’d be doing me a big favor.”
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, said he was “troubled” by the governor’s actions.

3 times Boris Johnson has spoken to Premier about faith
On his personal faith
While the vast majority of his predecessors have been vocal about their Christian faith, Johnson has remained coy on the issue. He did however attempt to describe his faith using an interesting analogy:
“I suppose my own faith, you know, it’s like a bit like trying to get Virgin Radio when you’re driving through the Chilterns. It sort of comes and goes. I mean sometimes the signal is strong, and then sometimes I’m afraid it just vanishes. And then it comes back again.”
On the importance of prayer
Boris Johnson attended the Global Day of Prayer at the former stadium of West Ham United as Mayor of London. While he prayed with the estimated 10,000 gathered he later labelled a campaign by the National Secular Society to ban parliamentary prayers “cobblers”.
“Irrespective of your religious views, the fact is that every day Parliament begins prayers, for Her Majesty and indeed for all politicians, that they should govern justly. And it’s a very, very interesting moment because politicians, everybody, no matter what their beliefs, they all pray and they think about the sacred trust that they’ve been given by the people and I think it’s quite a good thing, whatever they may think about the existence or non-existence of God or whatever.

PM Boris Johnson called to deliver on promise for persecuted Christians by charity
Following the release of a review into the persecution of Christians earlier this month, the new Conservative Party leader vowed to protect religious freedom if he was elected as Prime Minister.
Boris Johnson tweeted: “I welcome the Foreign Office’s review published today into the persecution of Christians abroad. If I am fortunate enough to become PM, I will always prioritise protecting religious freedoms and stand up for those facing persecution.”

Commissioned in December by Jeremy Hunt, the report’s findings showed that 80 percent of religiously motivated attacks in the world are against Christians and that this should now be called ‘Christophobia’.
The review used evidence from the Open Doors World Watch List, the annual ranking of the top 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Open Doors also submitted detailed evidence about persecution of Christians in specific countries and situations.
The Bishop of Truro released a number of recommendations alongside the report, which parliament committed to accept in full.

Pastor David Jeremiah Warns That Churches Are Too Focused on Numbers and Entertainment
Pastor David Jeremiah warned that too many churches in the United States have “forgotten” why they exist and focused on entertainment and social issues instead of focusing on things the Bible tells them to focus on.
In an interview with the Christian Post about his new book Everything You Need: 7 Essential Steps to a Life of Confidence in the Promises of God, Jeremiah said, “The Church is coming under attack; it’s forgotten what the Church is supposed to be. We’re not an entertainment service; we’re not here to see how close we can get to what the world does. But there’s so much of the world in the Church and vice versa that we can’t tell a difference. We have to hold to the truth. We have to get nourished. If it’s not happening, you’re a social organization and not a church.”
Jeremiah, pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, explained that he understands the pressure churches face to be “successful in the eyes of the world, but that there are more important issues in churches than the number of people sitting in the pew. Priest apologises to family of American biologist killed in Greece by his son
Greek police identified the suspect of the accused crime, Yiannis Paraskakis in a tweet and revealed he is currently in custody, charged with the rape and murder of Dr Suzanne Eaton.
Prof Eaton went missing on 2nd July while attending a conference near Chania on the island of Crete.
Her body was found six days later in an abandoned underground storage site used during World War II.
Police Major Eleni Papathanasiou, a spokeswoman for the Crete Police, said Eaton was attacked after going out for a daily walk.
Papathanasiou added: “The suspect reported that on July 2, 2019…motivated by the intention to commit sexual assault, he hit her twice with his car to stop her.
“According to his claims, he placed the victim, unconscious, in the trunk of his car and transferred her to a ventilation drain in the wartime storage (tunnel), where after raping her, abandoned her there.”
Paraskakis’ father has acknowledged the “heinous and appalling way” the scientist was killed.
In a letter sent to the press, the suspect’s father said: “As a human being and a priest, and entirely in agreement with the prevailing sentiment, I am devastated at the heinous and appalling way one of our fellow humans lost her life, even more so that the perpetrator of this crime is my own child.
