Topic: The Blessing of the Anointing [Seeds of Destiny 21 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil….The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Psalm 92:10-12

Thought For The Day: The Anointing processes a person into an enviable status in life.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that to be anointed by God is to be blessed by God. The anointed state is the blessed state of life; the Anointing processes a person into an enviable status in life.

Now, when I say, “Anointed by God”, I do not only refer to pastors or apostles but to every child of God that will press into God and connect the Anointing of God. You can walk in that Anointing as a doctor, lawyer, civil servant or tailor, etc.

We are going to look at the blessedness of the anointing in four dimensions.

1. The Anointing Comes with its Portion or Allocation. There is no unction without a portion. The implication of this is that the Anointing connects a person with supernatural supplies. (Psalm 92:10–14).

2. The Anointing Comes with a Crown (Leviticus 21:12). The Anointing establishes a person in royalty.

3. The Anointing Comes with Honour and Dignity. Anointed people are honourable people. When Samuel, an anointed prophet of God came to the house of Jesse, the Bible says the elders of the town trembled at his coming (1 Samuel 16:4). There is something anointed people carry that makes cities tremble.

4. The Anointing Comes with Favour and Opportunity. Anointed people are favoured people. Things work for them easily (1 Samuel 10:1,4).

Beloved, I declare the release of the fresh Oil that will shift you to the realm of unlimited supplies, favour, honour and dignity, in the Name of Jesus.

Remember this: The Anointing processes a person into an enviable status in life.

Assignments:
1. Make demands on the Anointing of God upon your life.
2. Press into God’s Presence in prayer and worship.

Prayer: O Lord, I make demands on the Anointing that will shift me to the realm of unlimited supplies. Make me a channel of blessing in my generation, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Faith Has No Expiration Date [Joyce Meyer Devotional 21 September 2018]

“Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing….” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (AMP)

Faith is the evidence of the things that we do not see and the proof of their reality (see Hebrews 11:1). Faith is what we have while we are waiting for God to answer our prayer and provide what we need. But what if God takes a long, long time to answer? That is when waiting can become difficult, and that is also when our faith is tested.

I am currently waiting on at least seven things I have prayed about, and they are all things I have been waiting on for a long time, some of them for years. As I was feeling a little disappointed yesterday about having no answers yet, I was reminded that faith has no expiration date, and if it does, then it is not faith that can endure testing.

Faith means that we not only ask God for something, but also that we must trust Him to be the head of the “ways and means committee”! He chooses the way to answer us and the timing to do so. In the meantime, we get to be patient, or we can at least learn to be patient! I am still learning, and perhaps you are also.

Let me encourage you today to know that although God probably won’t show up in your timing, He promises not to be late. Don’t just trust God for something, but trust Him all the way through the process it takes to get it. Don’t let your faith expire!

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You that I have faith while I am waiting for a breakthrough in my situation. Help me remain faithful, even as You are faithful! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Many people are lost and aimlessly wandering in the wilderness of life. Unfortunately, they may not realize their states of helplessness and hopelessness because the devil has blindfolded them. John 12:40; 2 Corinthians 4:4. Thank God! There is a way out for you.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
(a) Discover signs that indicate that someone needs help
(b) Understand the truth that Jesus is the only way to true help

(a) Allow the Assistant Teacher to review the previous week’s lesson, conduct the class, mark attendance and grade performance and take the closing prayer

TEXT REVIEW JOHN 3:1-21 – NICODEMUS ENCOUNTER.
Nicodemus, a significant personality engaged Jesus Christ in some down-to-earth questions and the following truth about the personality of Jesus and His father’s kingdom were revealed:
(i) To see his father’s kingdom, salvation is the entry visa. John 3:3.
(ii) To enter the kingdom, you must pass through the gate of the word and fire of the Spirit. John 3:5, 8. (iii)You have no portion in the kingdom if you are born by the flesh. John 3:6.
(iv)Faith is the foreign language to understand happenings in the kingdom. “We speak what we know” but you don’t receive it”. John 3:11-12.
(v) Because Jesus alone came down from heaven, he knows the way back to heaven, his father’s kingdom. John 3:13.
(vi)Those who are doomed for death now have hope of escape from the kingdom of perdition to the kingdom of life provided that they can enter through the lifted eternal door. John 3:14-15,17.
(vii) Jesus is the light that came from heaven into the world. To be liberated from the confusion of darkness is to come to the true light. John 3:19-21.

LESSON OUTLINE 1: SIGNS THAT SHOW YOU NEED HELP

Question: When does someone need help?

Answer:
(I) When you are desirous of something more in life especially spiritual desires. John 6:35, Isaiah 55:1-2.
(ii) When you are confused and you seem not to know what next. John 8:12; 9:5.
(iii)When you feel all doors around you are locked and you are looking for entrance into fulfillment. John 10:7, 9; Isaiah 22:22.
(iv)When you are disappointed and your relationship seems, to be a mere shadow and emptiness. John 10:11,14.
(v) When you are hopeless and tired of living or tired of being lost forever. John 11:25-26; John 14:1-2,18

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should relate their experiences in the following instances of life: (i) Unquenchable hunger. (ii) Confusion. (iii)Closed door experience. (iv)Disappointment and hopelessness.

LESSON OUTLINE 2: JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY OUT

Question 1: How does a human being miss his/her spiritual ways?

Answer:
(i) When we commit sin. Romans 3:23; Ecclesiastes 7:20.
(ii) When we allow sin to break our relationship from the one who is the way. Isaiah 59:1-2.
(iii)When we became separated. Isaiah 59:2.
(iv)Gradually, we are lost. Romans 6:36. (Do we get lost gradually?)

Question 2: How did Jesus become the way out of our predicament?

Answer:
(I) Jesus took our sins upon himself. Isaiah 53:4-5; 2 Corinthians 5:21.
(ii) Jesus took the punishment we deserve.
(iii)Jesus died in our place. Romans 5:8.
(iv) Jesus rose from the dead.
(v) Jesus had victory over sin and death. Romans 6:4-5.
(vi) His death gave us life. John 15:13. • .

Question 3 What happens when we follow Jesus, the true way?

Answer:
(i) Our faith in him brings forgiveness to our sins.
(ii) Our spiritual hunger will be satisfied. Matthew 5:6.
(iii)The light will shine again. 1 John 1:5-7.
(iv)We will have access back to God and live a fulfilled life. Jeremiah 29:11.
(v) We will be reconnected to the good shepherd. John 10:14. (vi) We shall have life after death Le. resurrect into eternal life. John 3:16.

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: What are the °tier ways people are following?

SUMMARY: Jesus is the way. John 14:6.

CONCLUSION: The hunger that you feel is a spiritual hunger, and can only be satisfied by Jesus. He is Life in this world and the next, Jesus is the way to God for salvation!

EVALUATION: Mention signs which indicate that people need Jesus, the true way.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, don’t let me struggle with you.

OUTLINES: SIGNS THAT YOU NEED HELP.
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY OUT

SIGNS THAT YOU NEED HELP:
1. Insatiable hunger: Are you hungry? Not physically hungry, but do you have a hunger for something more in life? Is there something deep inside of you that never seems to be satisfied? If so, that hunger is for God and Jesus is the answer! (Isa 55:1-2; john 6:35)
2. Confusion: Are you confused? Can you never seem to find a path or purpose in life? Does it seems like someone has turn off the light and you cannot find the switch? If so, Jesus is the way out. (John 8 :12; 9:5)
3. Closed doors: Do you ever feel like you are lock out of life? Have you ever tried so many doors, only to find that what is behind them is empty and meaningless? Are you looking for an entrance into fulfilling life? If so, Jesus is the door (John 10:7,9; Isa 22:22).
4. Disappointment: Do other people always let you down? Have your relationship been shallow and empty? Does it seem like everyone is trying to take advantage of you? If so, Jesus is the way! (John 10:11,14).
5. Hopelessness: Do you wonder what happens after this life? Are you tired of living your life for things that rot and rust? Do you sometimes doubt whether life had any meaning? Do you want to live after you die? If so, Jesus is the way out (John 11:25-26; 14:1-2,18).

JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY OUT:
The reason you feel hungry, the reason you seem to be lost in darkness, the reason you cannot find meaning in life, is that you are separated from God. The Bible tells us that we have all sinned, and are, therefore, separated from God (Ecclesiastes 7:20, Roman’s 3:23). We were created to have a relationship with God. Because of our sins, we are separated from the relationship. Even worse, our sin will cause us to be separated from God for all of eternity in life and next (Roman’s 6:23; Isa 59:1-2; John 3:36).

Jesus took our sins upon Himself (Isa 53:4-5; 2 Corinthians 5:21) and died in our place (Roman’s 5:8), taking the punishment that we deserve. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death (Roman’s 6:4-5). Jesus died so that we could live (John 15:13). If we place our faith in Jesus, trusting His death as the payment for our sins, all of our sins are forgiven and washed away. We will then have our spiritual hunger satisfied (Matthew 5:6). The lights will be turn on (1 John 1:5-7). We will have access to fulfilling life (Jeremiah 29:11). We will know our true best friend and good shepherd (John 10:14). We will know that we will have life after we die- a resurrected life in Heaven for eternity with Jesus (John 3:16)

CONCLUSION:
The hunger that you feel is a spiritual hunger, and can only be satisfied by Jesus. He is the life, in this world and the next. Jesus is the only way to God for our salvation!

SERVICE OBJECTIVES:

THINGS TO NOTE:
1. The most significant impact of Christianity is character transformation (Acts 11:26)

2. The followers of Christ are known by their fruits or character, and not just by church attendance (Matt. 7:15-20)

3. The work of Christian ministry is the development of Godly character (Eph. 4:11-13)

4. Christian character development is a process (Eph. 4:15)
Character development is not a destination but an adventure

FACTORS THAT AFFECT CHRISTIAN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:
1. A sense of vision and purpose for Godly character (Dan. 1:8; Gen. 37:2; Exo. 23:2)
1a. It involves knowing exactly the kind of person you want to be in life, what kind of life you want
to live and who the role models of that life are
1b. It involves being a person who lives by conviction and not to the consensus
1c. It involves knowing the kind of person you want to be remembered for when your life on earth is over
1d. It implies being a person that is not under the control of the crowd but under the control of God
Don’t live your life at the mercy of what others think or do, be a pacesetter and road pointer.

5a. The mind is the control room of character because thoughts become actions, actions become habits and habits become character
You are not doing anything about your character until you are doing something about your thoughts. The beginning place of character is your thoughts
5b. Inflow into life determines outflow from life; as the saying goes, garbage in, garbage out!
5c. The seed of thought is what produces the harvest of character
5d. Input determines outcome in life; until input is handled, outcome has not been helped

6. COMPLETELY avoid the wrong company and association (2Cor. 6:14-18)
6a. Association equals assimilation; company equals impact; who speaks into your ears shapes your life
Anybody who says any single thing to you that is contrary to Scripture, REJECT IT!
6b. Never manage the wrong association; what you manage can damage you
6a. The environment of your life affects the development of your life; to be wrongly surrounded is to be wrongly developed
6b. Never feel right about what does not feel right
Never ignore your perceptions, otherwise you head for disaster
When you ignore your feelings, you invite your pains

7. Be ready to learn, open to change (Phil. 3:10-14; Rom. 12:1-2)
7a. Meekness, that is, the readiness to learn, grants access to lifestyle-changing insight (Ps. 25:9)
7b. Openness to change is key to character adjustment
7c. The absence of meekness closes the door to change
7d. Where the willingness to change is absent, character improvement is impossible

8. Be open to feedback and correction (Matt. 16:13-16; Acts 23:1-5)
8a. Feedback is the fuel for upgrade of character
Be open to feedback so that your life can be upgraded; especially from those who have your interest at heart
8b. Correction brings transformation

9. Be determined, don’t give up (Mic. 7:8; 1Cor. 9:27)

Failure is not a person or an event, it is an opinion
9b. Determination is the guarantee of every destination (Phil. 3:14)
9c. Never agree to remain in a fallen state; arise and shine (Isa. 60:1)

10. Rely on grace; apply continually for the grace to live right (Acts 20:32; Tit. 2:11-12)

What you couldn’t have done with your power, grace says ‘you can’.

CONCLUSION:
1. There must be the decision to live right in order to live right (Dan. 1:8)

2. The choice to live right must be backed up with action (Phil. 2:12-13; 1John 2:29)

PRAYERS
Lord thank You for Your Word to us today. Blessed be Your Name Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Father, I come before You today and I ask for Your help and mercy to live in uprightness and Godly character. Where I failed, I ask for forgiveness Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Father, I apply for grace, it is my decision to live right and today I receive the grace to work out my salvation with fear and trembling and to do right
