Tyler Perry Studios Costume Designer Says Sometimes Leadership Means “Giving the Harsh Truth”

Tyler Perry Studios costume designer Crystal Renee knows the pressure of having to lead a team.

Starting out as a production assistant, Renee worked her way up in the industry to become an actress and, eventually, a TV and film costume designer. Her fearless faith, says Dr. Joseph Walker III, is what makes her a fearless leader.

And sometimes that means telling the harsh truths to someone on your team.

PODCAST: Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #111: Numbers 25, Psalm 44, and Romans 9 with Daniel Whyte III

This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #111. Where I read three chapters of the Holy Bible in the King James Version a day with my family as a part of our family devotions, to encourage you to read the Holy Bible in a year’s time. Today we are reading Numbers 25, Psalm 44 and Romans 9.

John Wycliffe said, “All Christian life is to be measured by Scripture; by every word thereof.”

Joyce Meyer said, “It is not about reading the Word. It is about obeying the Word.”

Numbers 25
1 And Is’-ra-el abode in Shit’-tim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Mo’-ab.

2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

3 And Is’-ra-el joined himself unto Ba’-al-pe’-or: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Is’-ra-el.

4 And the Lord said unto Mo’-ses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Is’-ra-el.

5 And Mo’-ses said unto the judges of Is’-ra-el, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Ba’-al-pe’-or.

6 And, behold, one of the children of Is’-ra-el came and brought unto his brethren a Mid-i-a-ni’-tish woman in the sight of Mo’-ses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Is’-ra-el, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

7 And when Phin’-e-has, the son of El-e-a’-zar, the son of Aa’-ron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;

8 And he went after the man of Is’-ra-el into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Is’-ra-el, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Is’-ra-el.

9 And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

10 And the Lord spake unto Mo’-ses, saying,

11 Phin’-e-has, the son of El-e-a’-zar, the son of Aa’-ron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Is’-ra-el, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Is’-ra-el in my jealousy.

12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:

13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Is’-ra-el.

14 Now the name of the Is’-ra-el-ite that was slain, even that was slain with the Mid-i-a-ni’-tish woman, was Zim’-ri, the son of Sa’-lu, a prince of a chief house among the Sim’-e-on-ites.

15 And the name of the Mid-i-a-ni’-tish woman that was slain was Coz’-bi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Mid’-i-an.

16 And the Lord spake unto Mo’-ses, saying,

17 Vex the Mid-i-a-nites, and smite them:

18 For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Pe’-or, and in the matter of Coz’-bi, the daughter of a prince of Mid’-i-an, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Pe’-or’s sake.

Psalm 44
To the chief Musician for the sons of Kor’-ah, Mas’-chil.
1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Ja’-cob.

5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Se’-lah.

9 But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.

Romans 9
1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

4 Who are Is’-ra-el-ites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. A’-men.

6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Is’-ra-el, which are of Is’-ra-el:

7 Neither, because they are the seed of A’-bra-ham, are they all children: but, In I’-saac shall thy seed be called.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sa’-rah shall have a son.

10 And not only this; but when Re-bec’-ca also had conceived by one, even by our father I’-saac;

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

13 As it is written, Ja’-cob have I loved, but E’-sau have I hated.

14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

15 For he saith to Mo’-ses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

17 For the scripture saith unto Phar’-aoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gen’-tiles?

25 As he saith also in O’-see, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.

26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

27 E-sai’-as also crieth concerning Is’-ra-el, Though the number of the children of Is’-ra-el be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

29 And as E-sai’-as said before, Except the Lord of Sa-ba’-oth had left us a seed, we had been as Sod’-o-ma, and been made like unto Go-mor’-rha.

30 What shall we say then? That the Gen’-tiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

31 But Is’-ra-el, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Si’-on a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

When I was a teenager I wanted to get wisdom and knowledge, so I set out to read the big family Bible that many families had in those days. But I couldn’t get past Genesis 2 before I got bored with reading the Bible. I found out later in life that you have to believe on Christ and get saved before you can understand the Bible. So here is how I became a Christian and how you can too:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:8: “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. Jesus Christ said in John 10:9, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please email me at [email protected] and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop.

God loves you. We love you. And may God bless you.

Father Who Sued to Prevent His Teen from Receiving Sex Change Treatments Could Face Jail Time

Father Who Sued to Prevent His Teen from Receiving Sex Change Treatments Could Face Jail Time

A Canadian father who has been unsuccessful in blocking his 15-year-old daughter from receiving hormone treatments to become a transgender boy is now facing jail time for talking to the media about the case, a move that could also land an independent journalist behind bars as well.

LifeSiteNews reported the action came after journalist Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson, a Christian broadcaster from Vancouver, posted an interview she did with the dad, known only as “CD” in court papers.

A judge had earlier issued a gag order forbidding the publication of any information that could identify any parties to the case, such as the teen, parents and several medical experts involved in the lawsuit, including a psychologist and a pediatric endocrinologist. Thompson ultimately removed the video, but copies are still available on several sites.

The dad filed suit last year trying to stop doctors from injecting his then 14-year-old girl with testosterone. During those court sessions, CD argued against the treatments saying his daughter suffered from emotional distress and depression since her parents’ 2013 separation. He added she was not mature enough to understand the long-term ramifications of the hormones treatments and had been unduly influenced by transgender activists.

On Tuesday, British Columbia Supreme Court justice Michael Tammen referred the matter to the…

Despite Parade Cancellations, Christians Around the World Remember the Life of Saint Patrick

March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, is usually filled with parades and celebrations. But for the first time in 258 years, the annual New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been canceled due to concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Although St. Patrick’s Day has become widely secularized over the centuries, it originally began as a holy day.

“The origin of Saint Patrick’s Day would be the death day of the saint. The day of his entry into heaven, his feast day, the festival of that,” said Dr. Charles Doherty of University College Dublin.

Feast days were annual celebrations in which Christians remembered their chosen saints.

“It is the liturgical veneration of the death of that person, the memory of what he did,” Doherty said. “It’s associated with the places that he visited [or] founded, allegedly or otherwise.”

Patrick’s Feast Day Keeps His Memory Alive

Patrick’s feast day was first observed locally by his own followers in Ireland.

“They kept his memory alive. They’re the people who preserved his writings. And the one thing any ancient group of Christians [does] about their leader, is they preserve the day of death,” explained Thomas O’Loughlin, author of Discovering Saint Patrick. “And we can be pretty sure that he died on the 17th of March. And they would have kept that loyally.”

“The Bible Quarantine” explores subjects that are currently dominating the national discussion in America, such as the meaning of church when people physically cannot meet together for worship and how to deal with fear in the face of the uncertain. Each episode is seven to eight minutes long and is posted at 9 p.m. ET. The series’ first episode, “Closed on Sunday,” received an initial 11,400 views across platforms.

“You cannot cancel the Church.” Episode 1 is coming tonight at 9pm EST. #yearofthebible #biblequarantine

A post shared by Nick Hall (@nickhallpulse) on

“If I’m honest, this started as a goofy idea. I posted an image of a show idea called ‘The Bible Quarantine’ with the caption ‘Because man shall not live on Netflix alone.’ I was half joking, but it got a very strong response because people are looking for hope and encouragement during this time of uncertainty,” Hall said.

Hall says the episodes are designed “to encourage you, make you laugh, and challenge you to make the most of this pause in our busy lives.

“I think God’s Word is going to speak to us during this time—and I believe this can be a life-defining season if we invite God in,” Hall said.

Michael Brown on Reflections on the Mercy of God After the National Day of Prayer

It is true that God is a righteous judge who will one day pour out His wrath on a rebellious world. But the overwhelming emphasis of Scripture is not on the wrath of God but rather on His mercy. As the psalmist proclaimed, “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love” (Psalm 103:8).

Can you imagine if God’s character was the opposite of this? If He was slow to mercy and abounding in anger? We would have been wiped out many millennia ago.

As the psalmist continued, “He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust” (Ps. 103:9–14).

And remember: These words were written long before the cross. Long before God displayed His love for us through His Son. Long before the perfect Savior paid for our sins. Yet the psalmist, David himself, understood the greatness of God’s mercy and kindness. And compassion and long-suffering. That is who our God is.

The prophet Micah, who had much to say about divine judgment, also said this about the Lord: “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy” (Mic. 7:18, NIV).

Our God delights to show mercy.

Similarly, the prophet Ezekiel, who too prophesied about the judgment of God, said this on behalf of the Lord: “Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!” (Ezek. 18:31–32).

Yes, our righteous God looks for opportunities to show mercy. He desires to demonstrate His compassion. And while He will not overlook our rebellion and sin—that is, if we refuse to turn away from it—He is longing to forgive.

The book of Genesis contains a remarkable dialogue between the Lord and Abraham, related as a face to face conversation between the two (see Gen.18:16-33).

The Lord is about to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their wickedness. But Abraham’s nephew, Lot, lives in Sodom, along with his wife and children. So God, in His incredible condescension, wants to let Abraham know in advance, prompting Abraham to take a bold step in faith.

Trump Administration Calls on Americans to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19

The Trump administration is calling on all Americans to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19.

President Trump and his Coronavirus Task Force fielded questions from reporters Tuesday for more than an hour.  Many of those questions having to do with containment, and of course, the shell-shocked economy.

One of the things President Trump and others said is that ending this pandemic is everyone’s responsibility. And officials reminded the nation that just because you may not be in the at-risk population, you could easily infect someone who is.

Trump said the next 15 days are crucial for the US.

“So it’s 15 days from yesterday,” he said. “We’ll see what happens after that. If we do this right, our country and the world, frankly, but our country can be rolling again pretty quickly. pretty quickly.”

Doing this right, the President, said would include observing the new CDC guidance with tighter restrictions on public gatherings.

“And we’re asking everyone to work at home if possible, postpone unnecessary travel and limit social gatherings to no more than 10 people,” Trump said.

There were also calls for the public to avoid visiting nursing homes, containing the country’s most vulnerable.

At least 35 states have ordered public schools closed with at least 15 activating the National Guard. The World Health Organization (WHO) made its plea clear.

“We have a simple message for all countries. Test, test, test,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO director-general.

The US Food and Drug Administration is expanding its earlier guidance allowing states to approve their own COVID-19 tests to speed up the process.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said increased testing is on the way, but in the meantime urged caution.

“That means do not go to St. Patrick’s Day parties tonight. If you do you are literally putting others at risk,” he said.

While primary elections are moving forward in Illinois, Arizona, and Florida, Ohio’s governor called them off citing virus concerns.

The country’s health officials are sounding optimistic overall.

“But I wouldn’t put us to task every few days, wait a minute it’s going up, is it working or not. That would be really misleading if we do that,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said Tuesday that the Pentagon will provide 5 million respirators and 2,000 specialized ventilators to federal health authorities to help in the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Esper told reporters that the ventilators are designed for use by deployed troops and the military will need to train civilians how to use them.  He said some may have “single-use” limitations.

US officials have talked about the shortage of ventilators to help treat patients with the virus.

Steph Curry Is Helping Give 1 Million Free Meals to Students during Coronavirus Pandemic

Steph Curry Is Helping Give 1 Million Free Meals to Students during Coronavirus Pandemic

NBA star Steph Curry and his wife are teaming up with a local food bank to provide 1 million free meals to students who are no longer in school due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Steph and Ayesha Curry said in a social media video that they felt led to help when they learned how many students were dependent on meals supplied by the Oakland Unified School District, which is closed at least through April 5.

Curry is a guard for the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.

The couple made a contribution through their “Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation” to the Alameda County Community Food Bank to help “provide more than 1 million meals to ensure that no child” in the area “worries where their next meal comes from while schools are closed,” according to the food bank’s website.

“The world is changing before our eyes in terms of dealing with the spread of coronavirus, and … the Oakland Unified School District is closing their doors for the foreseeable future,” Steph Curry said in the video. “So we want to intercede on behalf of the kids that rely on … their daily services, and try to help in any way we can.”
