PODCAST: Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading #110: Numbers 24, Psalm 127, and Romans 8 with Daniel Whyte III

This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #110. Where I read three chapters of the Holy Bible in the King James Version a day with my family as a part of our family devotions, to encourage you to read the Holy Bible in a year’s time. Today we are reading Numbers 24, Psalm 127 and Romans 8.

John Wycliffe said, “All Christian life is to be measured by Scripture; by every word thereof.”

Joyce Meyer said, “It is not about reading the Word. It is about obeying the Word.”

Numbers 24
1 And when Ba’-laam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Is’-ra-el, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 And Ba’-laam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Is’-ra-el abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

3 And he took up his parable, and said, Ba’-laam the son of Be’-or hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

5 How goodly are thy tents, O Ja’-cob, and thy tabernacles, O Is’-ra-el!

6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than A’-gag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8 God brought him forth out of E’-gypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10 And Ba’-lak’s anger was kindled against Ba’-laam, and he smote his hands together: and Ba’-lak said unto Ba’-laam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.

12 And Ba’-laam said unto Ba’-lak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

13 If Ba’-lak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

14 And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

15 And he took up his parable, and said, Ba’-laam the son of Be’-or hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Ja’-cob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Is’-ra-el, and shall smite the corners of Mo’-ab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

18 And E’-dom shall be a possession, Se’-ir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Is’-ra-el shall do valiantly.

19 Out of Ja’-cob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

20 And when he looked on Am’-a-lek, he took up his parable, and said, Am’-a-lek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.

21 And he looked on the Ke’-nites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.

22 Nevertheless the Ke’-nite shall be wasted, until Assh’-ur shall carry thee away captive.

23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!

24 And ships shall come from the coast of Chit’-tim, and shall afflict Assh’-ur, and shall afflict E’-ber, and he also shall perish for ever.

25 And Ba’-laam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Ba’-lak also went his way.

Psalm 127
A Song of degrees for Sol’-o-mon.
1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Romans 8
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Je’-sus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Je’-sus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Je’-sus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Ab’-ba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Je’-sus our Lord.

________

When I was a teenager I wanted to get wisdom and knowledge, so I set out the read the big family Bible that many families had in those days. But I couldn’t get past Genesis 2 before I got bored with reading the Bible. I found out later in life that you have to believe on Christ and get saved before you can understand the Bible. So here is how I became a Christian and how you can too:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:8: “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. Jesus Christ said in John 10:9, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please email me at [email protected] and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop.

God loves you. We love you. And may God bless you.

The Story of Rosa and Vasily

Vasily and Rosa Zhugylov are child/family coordinators for Mercy Projects in Ukraine. I have known them many years but recently during a training seminar in Kyiv, I spent some time with this very special couple. Amazingly, they spent their 17th wedding anniversary at the seminar, as they did not want to miss it. (- Jeff Thompson, MP President/Founder) Read the full story from the Mercy Projects newsletter at MercyProjects.org.

The Story of Rosa and Vasily

“Originally I am from Kyiv. In the Soviet Union times, of course no one talked about God. Churches were mostly forbidden. I remember when I was about nine years old; I really wanted to know about God. There was no Jeff, no Mercy Projects mission in Ukraine to explain it to me. I asked my mum: “What happens when we die? Will we just stop being alive? We will never exist again?” She said: “Yes, son, never.” I remember crying myself to sleep that night.

I was raised without God, and like most of my friends, I began to drink alcohol and get in trouble. I did my compulsory Soviet military service, and after that worked at a factory. I began stealing stuff, pretty much like everyone else, but my thefts became serious. Eventually I served my sentence in a maximum security regime at Cherkassy-62 prison.

In the prison, I met Pastor Anatoly Perepalitsa. He preached the Gospel to us and I repented there. They baptized me in prison in 1994. The Christian group grew so quickly that they needed a bigger meeting room. Our congregation grew to around 150 men. The prison director allowed us to build a House of Prayer on the prison territory.

I was released in 1997 and began to evangelize everywhere I could. A few years later I worked at a private ice-cream production factory in Kyiv. The owner was not a believer but he liked to hire Christians because they did not steal the ice cream. He always put the Christian workers on the night shift because unbelievers would steal from him at night. The owner totally trusted Christians and this is why Rosa was also hired.

In a college setting, Jeremy met Melissa Henning and wanted to know her deeply.  “Melissa was amazing,” he recalls.  “She was just a very happy person—a very joyous person.”

Barely a month into their relationship, Jeremy felt compelled to use the “L” word.  Melissa appeared shocked and told him she was not ready for the depth of commitment that reciprocating “I love you” would require.  “Embarrassed and devastated,” Jeremy was sure he had torpedoed this relationship for good.  She soon broke up with him.

Jerry Falwell, Jr. Questions If Coronavirus Is a North Korean-Chinese Bioweapon

Jerry Falwell, Jr. Questions If Coronavirus Is a North Korean-Chinese Bioweapon

Friday morning on Fox News’ Fox & Friends, president of Liberty University and Trump supporter Jerry Falwell, Jr, questioned if COVID-19 was the result of a joint effort by China and North Korea to wreak havoc on the U.S.

Falwell recalled, “The owner of a restaurant asked me last night, he said, ‘You remember the North Korean leader promised us a Christmas present for America, back in December? Could it be they got together with China and this is that present?'”

The university president responded, “I don’t know, but it really is something strange going on.”

As The Hill pointed out, China has experienced far greater consequences from the virus than the U.S. The country has reported over 80,000 cases while the U.S. stands at just over 3,400 cases.

Falwell was originally on the show to discuss college campuses opting for online classes. Unlike hundreds of colleges across the country, Liberty University, according to Relevant magazine, has not canceled in-person classes for its 15,000 students, in part because of Falwell’s belief that the response has been overblown.

In addition to blaming international leaders for the pandemic, Falwell also pointed fingers at Trump’s political adversaries.

“It’s strange to me how so many are overreacting. The H1N1 virus in 2009 killed 7,000 people and there was not the same hype. You didn’t see it on the news 24/7 and it makes you…

Jonathan Cahn Calls for National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance at the National Mall on September 26, 2020

Jonathan Cahn, known as a prophetic voice and author of New York Times’ bestsellers—The Harbinger, The Book of Mysteries, The Paradigm and his latest book, The Oracle—has announced “The Return,” the National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance, on Sept. 26, 2020, 40 days before the election and on the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower.

The day will center on a gathering at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., based on 2 Chronicles 7:14. Joining Cahn in The Return are some of the most influential evangelical leaders from across the United States, from Dr. James Dobson to Pat Robertson; Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz; Martin Luther King’s niece, Alveda King; Kevin Jessup; Michele Bachmann; Marcus Lamb; Bishop Harry Jackson; Gordon Robertson—and many, many more.

Gatherings of The Return and events of prayer and repentance will also take place across the country in state capitals, churches and homes, as well as in nations around the world.

Cahn, who became internationally known for his first book The Harbinger, which warns that America’s course is heading to judgment, has stated that the nation and the world is at a juncture that can permanently seal its future for bad or good, calamity or revival.

Cahn says in a video on The Return website, “America and much of western civilization, was founded on a biblical foundation stone, but it has turned away from that foundation. We have not only driven God out of our public life, and have called what is good evil and what is sin, good, but we have sacrificed the lives of over 60 million unborn children. And America’s fall from God is not only progressing—it’s accelerating—to the point that it is no longer just a falling away, but a war against the purposes of God.

“I wrote in ‘The Harbinger’ of the signs of judgment that appeared in the last days of ancient Israel—warning of calamity—that these same signs of warning have now appeared on American soil. The biblical template concerning judgment is that the nation so warned is given a space of time—to return or to head for judgment and calamity. We are now in that window of time, but if America continues on its present course, that window will come to an end and there will come a flood that will begin the end of religious freedom, even usher in persecution and seal America’s fall. And if America falls, it will affect the entire world.”

Cahn goes on to say that 2020 is crucial as it leads to a presidential election in which the stakes are higher and the necessity of prayer is more critical than ever before. And even if the election goes in the direction of biblical values and righteousness—if America doesn’t see a spiritual turning, an awakening, repentance and revival—then all political, legal, judicial and cultural efforts will ultimately fail or be undone.

Kenneth Chenault Leaving Facebook Board; Appointed First Black Director at Berkshire Hathaway

Former American Express CEO Kenneth I. Chenault announced Friday that he was “stepping down” from the board of Facebook Inc. On the same day, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway disclosed the nomination of the world-renowned corporate leader to its board, making him the first African American ever to serve as a director of the conglomerate. Chenault will replace departing Berkshire Hathaway board member Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft Corp. and billionaire philanthropist.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Chenault, a member of the Black Enterprise Registry of Corporate Directors who became the first African American to sit on the social media giant’s board, decided not to seek re-election to the body due to differences with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg related to “governance and political policies.”

The news came days after Facebook announced the appointment of The Estée Lauder Companies’ CFO Tracey Travis. She will join Peggy Alford, Senior Vice President of Core Markets for PayPal Holdings as the second African American female director to serve on its board. Alford became the first black woman appointed to the Facebook board last year. Chenault, who currently serves as Chairman and Managing Director of Silicon Valley-based VC firm General Catalyst, will continue his role as director until the company’s next annual meeting.

Chenault wrote in a post on Facebook’s Newsroom site: “Facebook plays an important role in the lives of people around the world. During the timeI served on the board, the company made progress in dealing with new challenges and continues its reach and to grow as a business…”

Chick-fil-A Closes Dining Rooms to Fight Coronavirus, Leaves Drive-Thrus Open

Chick-fil-A Closes Dining Rooms to Fight Coronavirus, Leaves Drive-Thrus Open

Chick-fil-A on Sunday said it was closing its dining rooms to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, although drive-thrus – and in some cases takeout and delivery – would remain open.

“Our highest priority continues to be the health and well-being of everyone who comes into our restaurants,” a statement on the company’s website said. “As we navigate the evolving impact of coronavirus on our communities, we are temporarily closing our dining room seating to help limit person-to-person contact.”

Drive-thrus will remain open, although other restaurant features – such as delivery – will depend on the location.

“Some of our restaurants may only offer service through our drive-thrus, while others may be able to offer takeout, delivery or mobile order options,” Chick-fil-A said. “Thanks for your patience. We know these are challenging times, but we’ll continue to do our best to serve you.”

The decision came as local and state governments issued orders closing food establishments. California, Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington have closed restaurants and bars for dining in, as have Los Angeles and New York City.

As of Monday morning, 3,800 people in the United States had been diagnosed with the coronavirus (COVID-19), according to Johns Hopkins University, although thousands more are believed to have it due to the recent shortage of tests….

Quarantined People in Middle East and North Africa Turn to Christian TV for “Living Hope”

In the eye of the coronavirus storm, anxious viewers in the Middle East and North Africa are looking to live Christian TV for reassurance—desperate to see “living hope” as the crisis escalates.

“Right now, with many countries introducing quarantine measures and lockdowns—and people staying home in isolation because of the COVID-19 virus—millions are searching the channels for hope that’s alive and real,” said Dr. Rex Rogers, SAT-7 USA president (sat7usa.org), a Christian satellite broadcaster in the Middle East and North Africa.

SAT-7’s programming reaches viewers in their own homes via live, “real life” shows in Arabic, Farsi and Turkish languages, as well as a children’s channel, showing viewers what it means to be a follower of Christ, especially in a crisis.

In Iran—one of the world’s coronavirus hotspots where more than 700 people have died so far—worried viewers, many of whom are “self-isolating” and anxiously stuck at home, are tuning into the live, interactive Signal show to share their experiences and get on-air advice from guest doctors.

With more than half of Iran’s 82-million-strong population under age 35 and 800,000 believers in Iran’s explosive underground church movement, satellite TV plays a vital “encourager” role—especially during crises and persecution. It’s illegal for Christians in Iran to hold church services in Farsi, or share their faith with non-Christians.

“I Am Patrick”, Film Highlighting the Life and Ministry of Ireland’s Patron Saint, Hits Theaters March 17

The name “St. Patrick” is commonly associated with green beer, shamrocks, and deeds such as casting the snakes out of Ireland.

But few know the incredible true story behind the indomitable man credited with singlehandedly bringing Christianity to Ireland.

Hitting theaters on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, the new docudrama “I Am Patrick: The Patron Saint of Ireland” sheds new light on the life, ministry, and incredible sacrifices of St. Patrick.

“By the end of the movie, you’re going to know Patrick. You’re going to know what his life was like, and you’re going to hear it in his own words,” Executive Producer Gordon Robertson told The Christian Post. “I want to change everyone’s perception of St. Patrick. I want them to meet the man behind the legend.”

“We’ve gotten lost in the shamrock; St. Patrick’s Day has become a cultural thing as opposed to, why do we celebrate this day on March 17? Most people don’t know that it was established to commemorate the day of Patrick’s death. It was originally a day to honor and to remember and to grieve a great man of God who had been taken. We’ve gotten away from that.”

Starring “Lord of the Rings” star John Rhys-Davies, “I am Patrick” digs past legend and myth to tell the story of the famed missionary using historical reenactments, expert interviews, and Patrick’s own letters and writings, including The Confession of St. Patrick and Letter to Coroticus.

Through a series of flashbacks, viewers meet Patrick in 5th century Britain, where he is living a comfortable life as the son of a government official. Despite being part of the Roman Catholic Church, his faith didn’t mean anything to him until he was kidnapped by pirates at the age of 16 and enslaved in Ireland.

For six years, Patrick was forced to work as a shepherd in perilous conditions. During this time, Patrick’s faith was strengthened, serving as a source of sustenance and encouragement. Through divine intervention, Patrick managed to escape slavery and was reunited with his family in Britain. However, it was there he experienced a prophetic dream calling him to take Christianity back to the land of his captivity.

Against the wishes of his family and the Church, Patrick returned as a missionary bishop to Ireland, where he converted thousands to Christianity.

“God spoke to him and told him to become a missionary to the very people who once enslaved him,” Robertson said. “I think the film really does a great job of portraying how hard it was for Patrick, based on what he wrote in the ‘Confession,’ to leave his mother, to leave his father, to leave his position, to leave all that he knew, to go back to the very people who had persecuted him.”
