Justin Bieber Credits God for Saving Him from Addiction and Severe Depression: ‘Jesus Loves You’

Justin Bieber Credits God for Saving Him from Addiction and Severe Depression: ‘Jesus Loves You’

Justin Bieber, the musician who made millions putting words to music, took to Instagram on Monday to share his testimony – a message of heartbreak and hope.

At the core of the Sept. 2 message was the redeeming power of Christ, which he said saved him from a life of rebellion, addiction and deep depression. The post to his 118 million followers was raw and unpolished, a stark contrast to the veneer images carefully crafted by most celebrities. The typos, spelling and grammatical errors seemed symbolic of a life punctuated by high-profile mistakes and bad choices.

“It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning with the right attitude when you you are overwhelmed with your life [,] your past, job, responsibilities, emotions, your family, finances, your relationships,” his post began.

“When it feels like theres (sic) trouble after trouble after trouble. You start foreseeing the day through lenses of  ‘dread’ and anticipate another bad day. A cycle of feeling disappoint after disappoint. Sometimes it can even get to the point where you don’t even want to live anymore. Where you feel like its never going to change..[.]I can full[y] sympathize with you.”

The pop star then expressed his gratitude for the people in his life who have continuously encourage him before reminding his followers that material things did not fulfill him, and…

Justin and Hailey Bieber planning Christ-centred wedding ceremony

Actor Stephen Baldwin said Justin and Hailey know marriage is a holy commitment and want the wedding to reflect that.

He told US entertainment news site TMZ: “I just think that as Christians and as believers they understand that if you don’t have God’s spirit working in your marriage it just makes it more and more difficult to make it work and have peace and find happiness,” he told TMZ.

“Weddings and marriage are supposed to be a holy commitment, one onto another.”

His statement comes after the couple’s save the date was revealed.

Baldwin said it will be a “very fun wedding” in South Carolina with a lot of “their pastor friends and Christian friends around them”.

“My only job is just walking my princess down the aisle,” he added.

Justin and Hailey married last September in a civil ceremony.

In an interview with Vogue Magazine Justin revealed that the two waited until they were married to have sex.

Kansas Faculty: Chick-fil-A on Campus Makes Students Feel Less ‘Safe’

Kansas Faculty: Chick-fil-A on Campus Makes Students Feel Less ‘Safe’

A group of University of Kansas faculty members is calling for the removal of Chick-fil-A from their campus, saying the popular restaurant is a “bastion of bigotry” and that it makes some students feel less safe.

The university has housed a Chick-fil-A in the basement of the university’s Wescoe Hall for 15 years, but this year it moved to a more prominent location: in the student union, which receives far more foot traffic, according to the Kansas City Star. Additionally, the chain now has a larger role at university football games, too, with the coin toss now labeled the “Chick-fil-A Coin Toss.”

The Sexuality & Gender Diversity Faculty and Staff Council sent a letter last week to the chancellor, provost and university community, demanding action against the chain. Chick-fil-A is the United States’ third-largest fast food-chain in sales. It also was voted America’s favorite fast-food restaurant in a recent survey of consumers.

“KU granted Chick-fil-A, a bastion of bigotry, a prime retail location in the heart of our campus. The Union houses spaces that the KU community designates as safe and accepting – not least of which are the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity,” the letter says. “… The Union was one of the first places on campus to incorporate gender-inclusive bathrooms for the comfort and…

Justin Welby apologises for ‘whingeing Remainers’ comments

It comes after the Archbishop told those who voted to stay in the EU to “stop whingeing” and accept the verdict of the Brexit vote at a Christian festival last week.

Welby shared on social media his regret over hurting people’s feelings with his “careless” and “insensitive” remarks saying: “I am aware of the upset after I talked about the need to “stop whingeing” about the Brexit referendum result.

“I expressed myself carelessly and insensitively in the moment. I apologise for that and the hurt that people have felt.”

He went on to say that Christians have a responsibility to be “salt and light” and to “admit when they go wrong.”

In his Facebook post the Archbishop insists the intention of his comments was to discourage hateful language and promote unity and reconciliation at a time of great division across the country.

He went on to say that although he has concerns over the political climate and the implications a no-deal Brexit could have on the poor, he recognises that all Christians are united by their faith in Christ, regardless of their politic views.

“I remain concerned about the risks of No Deal Brexit for the people least able to bear them. These risks may or may not turn out to be reality, but we must be very sure that those who need protection are protected.

“What unites us is our faith in Jesus Christ. We recognise that through His undeserved love, there…

Mass Shooting along Texas Highway Leaves 7 Dead, at Least 22 Injured

Mass Shooting along Texas Highway Leaves 7 Dead, at Least 22 Injured

A 36-year-old West Texas man indiscriminately opened fire on pedestrians along a Texas highway on Saturday killing seven people and wounding at least 22.

According to USA Today, the shooting began after the 36-year-old was pulled over by a Texas Department of Public Safety Officer for failing to use a turn signal.

USA Today reports that the 36-year-old – who was fired from his job earlier that day – shot the public safety officer before taking off in his car and opening fire on passers-by and fellow motorists.

Reportedly, the man indiscriminately opened fire at pedestrians and police officers in a chase that spanned over 10 miles.

According to CNN, the chase ended with a shootout between the gunman and police which left several officers wounded and the shooter dead.

According to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the shooter had a criminal record and previously failed a background check while trying to obtain a gun. Abbott wrote in a tweet, “Not only did the Odessa gunman have a criminal history… he also previously failed a gun purchase background check in Texas… & he didn’t go thru a background check for the gun he used in Odessa. We must keep guns out of criminals’ hands.”

Christian MP Alistair Burt to stand down at next election

Mr Burt was first elected MP for Bury North in 1983 and again in 1987 and 1992. He lost in 1997, when Tony Blair got a landslide victory for the Labour party, but regained his say in the House of Commons in 2001 when he won in North East Bedfordshire

Mr Burt, a Jeremy Hunt supporter in the Conservative leadership race earlier this year, told Premier in July that he still wished for Johnson to succeed as Conservative leader: “There’s lots of colleagues of whom I’m aware both of their strengths and weaknesses, as they’re of mine – and I preferred Jeremy – but Boris Johnson is now the Prime Minister and do I want him to succeed? Absolutely.

“I know the sorts of things I want him and his government to avoid and I hope to provide advice in relation to that but I want to see a Boris Johnson who will succeed.”

However, on Tuesday Alistair Burt announced that he had “fundamental and unresolvable disagreements” with Boris Johnson’s government, before he voted against the leadership over taking control of the parliamentary agenda.

The Prime Minister had already threatened MPs who were thinking of voting with the opposition that they would have the party whip withdrawn and effectively expelled from the party and not allowed to stand as Conservatives at the next election.

Speaking back in July about his desire to avoid a no deal, which is currently our default option…

China: Children Cannot Become Christians until They Are 18

China: Children Cannot Become Christians until They Are 18

China’s recent crackdown on Christianity has led to intensified enforcement of a law already on the books: children and youth cannot convert to the faith until they’re 18.

Churches across China are canceling Sunday School classes for children in light of the new clampdown, according to Mission Network News.

“One of the rules that have always been in their law is that you cannot proselytize or you cannot convert somebody under the age of 18,” Erik Burklin of China Partner told Mission Network News.

Previously, he said, parents “were having their children come to church and many churches started what we would call Sunday School classes.”

“They would use that time to teach children Bible verses and teach them Christian songs and so forth,” Burklin said.

Now, though, many churches “have been notified” by China’s “Religious Affairs Bureau” that “you can no longer conduct Sunday School classes in your churches,” he said.

“They even put signage up in the entrance of some churches to indicate that,” Burklin said.

This means China Partner’s YouthServe ministry – aimed at teaching church leaders how to conduct ministry for teens ages 13 to 18 – is “problematic,” Mission Network News reported.

During a recent trip, Burklin said, pastors approached him and said, “Please, we can no longer invite you to come and do these youth…

Hurricane Dorian Moves Northward as Baptist Global Response Prepares to Assist With Disaster Relief Efforts – Urban Christian News

Graphic from www.nhc.noaa.gov

Hurricane Dorian finally completed its pounding of the Bahamas Tuesday morning (Sept. 3). After intensifying to a Category 5 before devastating the islands, Dorian weakened to a Category 3 as it continued its slow trek toward Florida. Early reports describe the damage as historic, and five deaths had been reported in the Bahamas.

Baptist Global Response (BGR) has purview over the Bahamas and will be assisting with disaster relief efforts once the storm passes and damage assessments have been completed. Jeff Palmer, executive director of BGR, said he is in contact with the Bahama Baptist Convention and the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship.

“After the assessments we will know what kind of help we need,” Palmer said. “It might involve medical help, food, water, shelter — you can imagine what the needs might be based on a storm like this.”

According to Palmer, Baptist churches in the Bahamas have a strong network, and BGR will cooperate and work through them.

“They are the ones who will be around to minister in the long term,” Palmer said. “We want to work through them so they will receive the credit.”

The storm’s slow crawl toward the East Coast persists, but most forecasting models indicate that the eye of the storm will not make landfall. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) projects Dorian will turn north and curl back out into the Atlantic. Yet, only a slight shift in the official forecast would bring the center of the storm closer to the coast according to the NHC.

While the eye may not make landfall, if its current projected path holds,…

New Study Shows Growing Political Differences Between Older and Younger Evangelicals

New Study Shows Growing Political Differences Between Older and Younger Evangelicals

A new study, released by the Voter Study Group, illustrates a growing divide between how younger and older evangelicals perceive political issues, particularly those championed by President Trump.

While older white evangelical Christians have been enthusiastic about President Trump and his policies, younger evangelicals do not share their views. While 80 percent of white evangelicals over 45 have a favorable view of the President, only 60 percent of younger evangelicals hold the same view. The disparity becomes even more pronounced when considering the percentage who hold a “very favorable” view of the President. 55 percent of older white evangelicals hold a “very favorable” view of President Trump compared with only 25 percent of younger white evangelicals.

One issue where the divide is quite pronounced is immigration. The survey shows that younger white evangelicals tend to hold a much more positive view about the effects of immigration on American life. One question asked if immigrants strengthen our country, are a burden on our country, or if the person thinks both, neither, or does not know. Older white evangelicals were more likely to view immigrants as a burden while younger white evangelicals considered them to be an asset to the country.

66 percent of those aged 18-34 said that immigrants strengthen the country, compared to only 32…
