As Church Worships, Police in Algeria Arrive to Seal Building

TIZI-OUZOU, Algeria, August 7, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Interrupting a worship service, police on Tuesday (Aug. 6) sealed a church building in north-central Algeria, less than three months after locking shut another site in the same area.

“I am deeply saddened by so much injustice – it breaks my heart,” pastor Messaoud Takilt told Morning Star News. “This is not surprising since other Christian places of worship have been closed and sealed as was the case today. But anyway, we will continue to celebrate our services outside while the Lord gives us grace for a final solution.”

Gendarmes from Makouda had shown up on Saturday (Aug. 3) during the church’s service in Lekhmis village, Boudjima, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Tizi-Ouzou in Kabylie Region. They left Pastor Takilt a three-day ultimatum to remove all contents from the building and a summons to report to the brigade.

On Tuesday (Aug. 6), the gendarmes returned around noon to seal the building as the church worshipped, Pastor Takilt said. They summoned him outside, where he told them the congregation did not want to leave the building. The gendarmes showed him their orders and urged him to cooperate.

“We are here to execute an order, and we will execute whatever it is,” the officer replied, according to Pastor Takilt. He added that the officer took him aside and said, “Messaoud,…

Beth Moore Challenges Christian Leaders to Condemn White Nationalism

Beth Moore Challenges Christian Leaders to Condemn White Nationalism

Following the tragic shootings over the weekend that left nearly 30 people dead, Christian author and speaker Beth Moore took to Twitter to implore pastors to condemn white nationalism.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Moore started off by noting that Christ of the Bible, simply cannot be the same christ who the El Paso shooter reportedly invoked. According to Baptist News, the alleged shooter, 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, wrote in his Twitter bio that he was a “proud God loving Christian.”

Moore wrote, “Any “Christ” that can be invoked in support of white nationalism is a false Christ of the highest, most hellish order. An anti-Christ. A wholly-opposite christ. No such christ is the Christ Jesus of Scripture who taught His followers a love that sacrifices life & limb for others.”

The Breaking Free author then issued a challenge to all followers of Christ, asking them to declare the same sentiment. She wrote, “Let it be known, let it be declared by genuine followers of Jesus, that the man who opened fire in El Paso may…

37 Percent of Public School Teachers Are Evangelical Christians, Poll Finds

37 Percent of Public School Teachers Are Evangelical Christians, Poll Finds

More than one-third of public school teachers are evangelical Christians, according to a new survey that also found the general public supports Bible classes in school.

The 51st annual PDK Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools polled teachers, parents and the general public about their opinions on schools.

Thirty-seven percent of all public school teachers are evangelical Christians, according to the poll. That figure mostly matches the percentage of the public (36 percent) that is evangelical Christian.

But on ideology, public school teachers are slightly more liberal than the general public. Forty percent of teachers call themselves “liberal,” compared to 28 percent of the public. Twenty-eight percent of teachers and 34 percent of the public are conservatives. Thirty-one percent of teachers and 34 percent of the public are moderates.

Politically, public school teachers are a little more likely to be Democrats, too. Thirty-nine percent of teachers but 34 percent of the public consider themselves Democrat. Twenty-five percent of teachers and 26 percent of all adults call themselves Republican.

Teachers and Public Back Bible Classes

Among all adults, a total of 64 percent favor Bible classes in school, with 58 percent saying such classes should be an elective and 6 percent saying the classes should be required. Support for Bible…

From Pastor to Politician: Faith Leaders Poised to Make Moral Change by Running for Office

From Pastor to Politician: Faith Leaders Poised to Make Moral Change by Running for Office

A movement is stirring amongst evangelical pastors eager to enact change in America. Later this week, nearly 400 pastors and leaders will meet in Lynchburg, Virginia to discuss how to successfully restore Judeo-Christian principles across the country through political elections.

The American Renewal Project, started by political influencer David Lane and his pastor Rob McCoy in 2015, aims to train pastors and leaders in political sessions while also encouraging each of them to run for office.

“I am convinced that the pastor and pews model was instrumental in the 2016 election of President Trump and has been instrumental in numerous statewide elections for congressional, US Senate and gubernatorial races,” said Mike Huckabee, former presidential candidate and Fox News contributor.

According to CBN, ARP remained active during Trump’s campaign where the president won 81 percent of the white conservative evangelical vote. ARP spent $9 million in the 60 days before the general election in six battleground states, including Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.

In 2015, ARP launched its first-ever “Issachar Training Sessions.” Issachar, which comes from 1 Chronicles 12:32, are “men who understood the times.” The next year, around 200 pastors volunteered to run for office. In 2018, 300 more stepped to the plate. ARP’s goal for 2020 is for 1,000…

‘School Prayer Zone’ Signs Showing up Near South Carolina Schools

‘School Prayer Zone’ Signs Showing up Near South Carolina Schools

As students and parents prepare for a new school year in Richland County, South Carolina, they’ll be greeted by a sign different than usual: one inviting them to pray.

The “School Prayer Zone” signs look similar to regular road signs but feature green male and female stick figures praying. 2 Chronicles 7:14, a verse that tells God’s people to pray, repent and seek Him, is also included in the bottom right corner, according to CBN News.

Vanessa Frazier, founder and director of Christ Teens, brainstormed the idea after working behind the attendance desk in a local high school. Christ Teens is a nonprofit outreach intended to “train ‘soldiers’ to possess the land around public schools — all within the law!”

Frazier worked with the South Carolina Department of Transportation for three years and hopes the signs will “create a wall of prayer around the schools.”

The signs are placed on privately owned properties of churches near schools in order to maintain church and state boundaries, making the signs legal.

Jane Jorgenson, wife of the pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, was immediately interested in the idea of putting up a sign on their property. “God brings peace to hearts and lives if we ask,” she said. “If high school kids see this sign as they go to school, if they could get into the habit of praying for their problems, it could help…
