Church Buys School Supplies for Every Student at Their Local Elementary School
A local church has made a wonderfully generous donation to a local elementary school, opting to purchase academic supplies for every single student that due to attend.
Parkview Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, Kansas, will cover the costs of every child enrolled in Hillsboro Elementary School (USD 410) grades K through fifth grade this year.
The idea came about after local resident and churchgoer, Tami Driggers, spotted a Facebook post which featured a story of a church supplying a local school with much-needed educational resources. “After leaving the store and being in a bit of a shock over how much supplies cost for my kids, I realized what a blessing it would be if a church could do that for Hillsboro,” Driggers told Hillsboro Free Press. “Then I thought ‘why not Parkview?’”
Another of the women involved in organizing the scheme, Linda Dyck, said that she was sure her church would be keen to step up and assist the local community.
“A lot of times nowadays, moms and dads work just to make ends meet. It’s hard,” Dyck explained. “Then with school, you’ve got clothes, glasses, shoes, food and then hundreds of dollars of schools supplies to think of. So I think that Parkview as a Church should be a blessing to people.”
So, after a quick conversation with the church elders, it was decided — the church would make a generous financial…

Christian former MP Fiona Onasanya struck off as solicitor for lying over speeding case
The 35-year-old, who worked in commercial property law before her election to parliament in 2017, was jailed for perverting the course of justice last year by claiming someone else was driving her car.
A number of allegations were found proven by a misconduct tribunal on Tuesday, meaning she can no longer practise as a regulated solicitor.
Edward Nally, chairman of a three-member panel at the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal in central London, said: “As a parliamentarian makes the law so a solicitor must uphold the law and rule of law, and sadly in this case Ms Onasanya has failed in those duties.
“We must strike off Ms Onasanya from the roll of solicitors.”
The tribunal found she acted dishonestly, failed to act with integrity and failed to behave in a way that maintains the trust the public places in her.
Mr Nally went on: “That conviction we are aware has led to disastrous consequences for Ms Onasanya both personally and professionally.
“As a solicitor there are professional consequences that follow from a proven act of dishonesty that has been found by a jury after trial.”
The University of Hertfordshire graduate was also ordered to pay £6,562 to cover the costs of the prosecution by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
The SRA had originally applied for £22,762 after saying the case took 40 hours of preparation, but Mr Nally reduced it after saying he…

Joshua Harris Attends LGBT Pride Event Just Weeks after Denouncing Christianity
Just a couple weeks after announcing that he is no longer a Christian, former pastor and author Joshua Harris has been spotted at an LGBT pride event in Canada.
Posting about the event on his Instagram stories, Harris uploaded pictures of himself wearing a gay pride shirt and eating rainbow-colored donuts. “Enjoyed swapping stories, gentleman!” he wrote, pictured alongside two other men — Matthias Roberts, host of Queerology: A Podcast on Belief and Being, and gay singer Trey Pearson, who is the former frontman of Christian rock band, Everyday Sunday.
In his original post on July 26, Harris, who penned the wildly popular “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” back in the 1990s, ditched his conservative evangelical views and openly apologized to the LGBT community for his previous teaching. “To the LGBTQ+ community, I want to say that I am sorry for the views that I taught in my books and as a pastor regarding sexuality,” he wrote.
In “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” Harris put forward a new model for pre-marital relationships, advocating a type of intentional courtship that is more likely to end in marriage. In his previous life as a pastor and evangelical author, Harris confirmed that homosexual relationships were sinful according to the Bible. He no longer holds true to this belief.
“I regret standing against marriage equality, for not affirming you and…

‘Stop hate and racism, starting with yourself’, bishop in strong message to President Trump
The shootings in Texas and Ohio over the weekend, killing 31 people and injuring many more, took place within 24 hours and took the number of mass shootings in America to 251 this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
That is more shootings than we have had days in 2019.
President Trump has blamed the latest mass shootings on video games, mental illness and social media.
The US president’s urging politicians to work together on tougher gun laws, but has not yet announced any proposals.
He wants mass-killers to be put to death, and changes to mental health laws to identify people who may commit acts of violence.
After the shootings, the president called for the nation to “condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy” and labelled the weekend’s attacks as “evil”.
Prior to beginning his rampage, the Texas gunman posted an online manifesto ranting against immigrants and making other racist remarks.
Bishop Mark Seitz of El Paso, Texas said it was “appropriate” for President Donald Trump to call out the white supremacy that motivated the Texas shooting, but said the president also has questions to answer.
Bishop Mark said that the president should “examine himself and the kind of rhetoric that contributes to the hatred of a whole group of people.”
Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller in San Antonio also asked the President to start listening and called for greater gun…

Five Reasons Some Churches Celebrate Debt Retirement
Podcast Episode #560

Debt can drag down a church’s finances and keep it from being able to minister as it would like to. So when a church retires its debt, it’s typically a cause for celebration.
Some highlights from today’s episode include:
- Debt retirement celebrations should be more of a celebration of God’s provision than debt retirement.
- When debt is eliminated in a church, funds available for ministry increase dramatically.
- Having more money for ministry in a church means having more money to reach people for Christ.
- Too many times in churches that need revitalization we talk about problems instead of promises.
The six failures we discuss are:
- It is a reminder of God’s provisions.
- It is an announcement of new funding for ministry.
- It is a celebration. Churches need to celebrate more often.
- It is a thank you to the members.
- It is great information for newer members who may not know.

Explaining the El Paso massacre: Hateful ideology and biblical truth
The event is one of the most iconic in history.
The 1936 Olympic Games are being held in Berlin, Germany. Adolf Hitler intends them to be a showcase of Aryan supremacy. But a black man from America named Jesse Owens defeats Germany’s athletes and Hitler’s racism, winning four gold medals. One of them is for the 200-meter dash, which he won eighty-three years ago yesterday.
In related news, Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed as our nation’s first Hispanic Supreme Court justice ten years ago today.
I wanted to start today’s Daily Article with these reminders that America is a multicultural, multiracial nation of immigrants and their descendants. We might think such a reminder would be unnecessary, given our nation’s clear history. But this is no longer the case.
How the shooter justified murder
Twenty minutes before shots rang out last Saturday in El Paso, Texas, a four-page manifesto was posted online. So as to deny them further publicity, I will neither name the alleged murderer nor link to that document.
But I can tell you that authorities now believe the El Paso shooter posted the document. It begins: “In general, I support the Christchurch shooter and his manifesto. This attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas.” The writer adds, “I am simply defending my country from cultural and ethnic replacement brought on by an invasion.”
He believes that economic and political forces are conspiring against Americans and claims, “If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.” Frighteningly, his document ends: “Many people think that the fight for America is already lost. They couldn’t be more wrong. This is just the beginning of the fight for America and Europe. I am honored to head the fight to reclaim my country from destruction.”
“The Great Replacement”
No idea exists in a vacuum. The El Paso murderer states that reading “The Great…

Captive Christians released in Myanmar
Religious freedom charity, International Christian Concern have confirmed the release of villagers on 1st August who were held for six months in a border camp, after soldiers took them from their community following a battle with government forces.
The Arakan Army (AA), an insurgent group that recruits from the mainly Buddhist ethnic Rakhine population and is fighting for greater autonomy for the state, abducted the Khumi villagers on 2nd February, 54 people were taken to the AA’s base between the Myanmar and Bangladesh border.
While the AA claimed that it had “rescued” these villagers by helping them flee to safety, where the Burmese Army (Tatmadaw) has been carrying out an offensive against the AA, the villagers who escaped later denied this. The villagers said that they were taken against their will, and were used as human shields at one point when the Tatmadaw attacked with combat helicopters.
Fourteen of the villagers managed to escape the camp in the last few months, and one died while in AA custody.
Upon their release, the villagers were sent to community leaders in Ohnthee Wa village so they could be taken to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Meezar.
Pastor Moses from the camp told Radio Free Asia that he was informed about the villagers’ arrival in Ohnthee Wa, but that he had not yet met them. “They said they have come back, but they are…
