China Forces Churches to Sing Songs Praising Communist Regime

China Forces Churches to Sing Songs Praising Communist Regime

China continues its war against the Christian faith by forcing churches to replace hymns and spiritual songs with those praising the country.

Earlier this year, the Chinese government required all believers to sing from Newly Compiled Hymns, a hymnal published by China’s Two National Christian Council. As reported by Bitter Winter, a magazine on religious liberty in China, the new required singing includes Bible chapters through a secular lens.

“The hymns published by the government only promote political, secularized content,” director of a Three-Self church in China said. “All believers are unwilling sing them.” One of the hymns reads: “China is beautiful; China is great; the sons and daughters of China love China. … Bless China, O Lord.”

“Such hymns aren’t praising the Lord at all,” the director continued. “They are entirely praising the country, and are no different from secular songs. Isn’t the government engaging in dishonesty and deceit?”

Last month, churches in Mudan district were required to create “Christian cultural activity centers.” These places will “write and perform Chinese operas and skits; form activity groups for painting and calligraphy, Chinese operas, fashion shows, and photography; incorporate local cultural characteristics into Christian traditions, and promote the ‘sinicization’ of…

Report on Birmingham church abuse allegations to be published

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has been looking at whether there were failings within the Roman Catholic Church, and held a series of hearings last year focusing on the archdiocese and allegations against four priests who served there.

The panel, chaired by Professor Alexis Jay, heard testimony from the Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Vincent Nichols, who was archbishop of Birmingham between 2000 and 2009.

Cardinal Nichols, who is the leader of Roman Catholics in England and Wales, denied a child sex abuse survivor’s claim that he had suppressed a 1968 note relating to an alleged incident involving the late Father John Tolkien, son of novelist JRR Tolkien.

Panel members looked at the nature and extent of any failures by the church, the archdiocese, the police, or other public authorities to protect children from harm.

It also looked at the adequacy of the church’s response to such allegations, including what steps were taken in investigating, learning lessons, implementing changes and providing support to victims and survivors.

‘The Cross Does Not Offend the Constitution’ – Supreme Court Upholds WWI Memorial

‘The Cross Does Not Offend the Constitution’ – Supreme Court Upholds WWI Memorial

The U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark religious liberty decision Thursday and let stand a 94-year-old cross-shaped war memorial that was at the center of a dispute between an atheist group and a veterans organization.

The court, in a 7-2 decision, ruled the 40-foot Bladensburg WWI Veterans Memorial – often called the Peace Cross – does not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. It sits on public property in Bladensburg, Md., and was completed in 1925.

The justices did not overturn the so-called Lemon Test as requested by some religious liberty groups but did issue a new set of principles that could protect other historic religious-themed monuments from lawsuits.

“The cross is undoubtedly a Christian symbol, but that fact should not blind us to everything else that the Bladensburg Cross has come to represent,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the majority. “For some, that monument is a symbolic resting place for ancestors who never returned home. For others, it is a place for the community to gather and honor all veterans and their sacrifices for our Nation. For others still, it is a historical landmark.”

Tearing down the cross, Alito wrote, could be viewed as an unconstitutional hostile act toward religion.

“For many of these people, destroying or defacing the Cross that has stood undisturbed for nearly a…

Christian MP praises Premier and the Church’s efforts to tackle youth violence

Spelman, who acts as a link between the Church of England and the Government in Parliament, told members that a number of churches are actively involved in quelling the violence.

Speaking on behalf of the Church Commissioners she said: “The Church does use its community halls and facilities, particularly to reach out to young people – there are a number of examples of that.

“But also, specially, could I sight the work of Premier Christian Radio who broadcast from London and have raised awareness of this issue of youth violence and what the Church can do to help.”

She also insisted the Church does provide role models when asked by Daniel Kawczynski, Conservative MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham how the Church can help communities in this area.

“I think it’s very well known that the Church does provide role models for young people, such as youth workers in the community,” she said

“We work alongside young people in schools, in those youth groups, in congregations.

“Our clergy, teachers and members of our congregations are supporting young people who are at risk of getting caught up in violence and their families and supporting young people in referral units.”

Thousands of people have signed up to Premier’s ‘Peace on our Streets’ campaign, connecting with people to pray for young people in their towns and boroughs.

Popular Home-Schooling Program Promotes LGBTQ Agenda

Popular Home-Schooling Program Promotes LGBTQ Agenda

Khan Academy, a free online resource for homeschooling, includes some LGBT material, according to LifeSite News.

In one Khan Academy session, the lesson, “Irregular Plural Nouns: from ‘f’ to ‘ves,’” the student is asked to choose the correct plural noun to use in the given sentence.

“Brittany and Sofia went to lunch with their (blank) every Saturday,” the sentence reads.

The choices given are “wifes” and “wives.”

“Activist Mommy,” Elizabeth Johnston, told her readers on her blog, that Khan Academy has an “agenda.”

“It didn’t take long for leftism to creep in,” she said.

“Some might say that a parent could simply skip this one question while working with their homeschooled child, but the only reason this question even exists is that we have buried our heads in the sand and skipped over this garbage for far too long,” Johnston said Monday on her online blog. “If you think it’s just this one question, think again. There’s no doubt more material from this company, and likely others will soon follow suit.”

Khan Academy has received a Gates Foundation grant and another more than $17 million in funding. According to CBN News, the site is funded by corporate and private investors with “agendas.”

“This is proof once again that the gay agenda has never been about assuring equality for all,” Arthur Schaper of California Mass Resistance…

Christian charity prays for peace between US and Iran.

American officials have claimed it was hit over international airspace by an Iranian surface-to-air missile in an “unprovoked attack”.

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said it shot the drone down when it entered Iranian airspace near the Kouhmobarak district in southern Iran’s Hormozgan province.

This comes after the Trump administration accused Iran of being behind attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman last week.

The US President responded to the incident in a tweet on Thursday, saying: “Iran made a very big mistake”.

Reverend Lazarus Yeghnazar, President of 222 Ministries – a charity that supports Christians in Iran – told Premier he was concerned the situation will continue to escalate.

He said: “Trump is as stubborn and as determined to pursue his own ambitions as the Iranians Ayatollah, so they have met each other’s match.”

Reverend Yeghnazar believes there is a strong possiblity of war and has urged the Christian community to pray.

He said: “I don’t think anyone will blink and that will be causing millions of other deaths.

“If a war happens it will be so catastrophic, it will bring destruction to Iran and all around countries – I think we’re descending towards that, so can we pray for peace.”

He added: “When the governance of God comes and the authority of God comes,…

As number of refugees reaches highest ever, Christians are urged to welcome refugees into their communties

Emily Holden from the Welcome Churches initiative, a network of churches who work to intergrate refugees into their church family, told Premier the figures were shocking and that Christian should remember that the large numbers represent just as many personal and tragic stories of fleeing from home.

When asked how Christians should respond to these figures, she said: “I always think that best response should be do we know those people ourselves? Do we know people who have fled conflict? And do we have those people in our lives?

“I mean, the reality is, in the UK now that no matter where the church is, there is something that they can do to welcome refugees and to know people who have fled conflict, fled persecution in our towns and in our cities and so we will be saying to churches ‘do you know these people and are they welcome in your church?'”

Speaking about the concerns some might have about squeezed resources and policies to limit refugees, Emily Holden commented: “When we look at it, the tragedy is that people’s lives have been caught up in the middle of the politics and those people who are just trying to live their lives have a future for themselves and their families.

“When we look at the Bible and what the Bible says about welcoming refugees it’s rich full of reasons why we should be welcoming the stranger why we should have all the nations represented…

Atheist Group Demands School Ban Pastor for Saying ‘Jesus’

Atheist Group Demands School Ban Pastor for Saying ‘Jesus’

An atheist group is demanding a Wisconsin school district ban a pastor from future events after he discussed his faith at a graduation ceremony, mentioned “Jesus Christ,” and urged the students not to “succumb to the pressure of being politically correct.”

Pastor Alvin Dupree, a member of the Appleton Area School District’s Board of Education, delivered a 10-minute speech during the Appleton North High School graduation June 6.

“As the principal mentioned, whatever your source of strength is, you lean on it,” he said, according to Madison365.com. “Never let anyone make you hide it. For me, my source of strength is my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ.”

When Dupree heard cheers, he added, “Sounds like I’ve got some believers in this room. If you are here and you believe that, go ahead and clap your hands. Never succumb to the pressure of being politically correct. Be you, wherever you go. Be you.”

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), in a June 13 letter to the district, said Dupree has repeatedly discussed his religion during his time as a board member, including during an MLK Day of Service at a district high school. He mentioned religion at the 2017 high school graduation ceremony, too, according to the organization.

“Dupree is gleefully thumbing his nose at the Constitution – and at the students the district…

Senior bishop challenges ‘success’ of government welfare reforms

The need for food banks was also highlighted by the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Rev Nick Baines, as he tackled ministers at Westminster.

His intervention came as the Government stepped up its attack on the UN poverty expert behind a critical report of the UK slamming the “inflammatory and overtly political tone”.

Works and Pensions Minister Baroness Buscombe told peers during a recent visit to the UN, people had moved to “distance themselves from it” and preferred instead to praise the Government’s “groundbreaking, exemplary and world-leading policies in the area of work and pensions”.

In his report, UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights Philip Alston claimed the UK had violated its human rights obligations through sustained and widespread cuts to social support.

He also said that although the UK is the world’s fifth largest economy, one-fifth of its population (14 million people) live in poverty, and 1.5 million experienced destitution in 2017.

The Department for Work and Pensions has already branded the report a “barely believable documentation of Britain” and said it painted a “completely inaccurate picture” of its approach to tackling poverty.

But pressed on the findings in the Lords, Lady Buscombe appeared to go further, telling peers: “Nobody wants to see poverty rising and we treat the issues raised by the special rapporteur…

FBI Arrests Syrian Refugee Planning to Bomb Christian Church in Pittsburg in the Name of ISIS

FBI Arrests Syrian Refugee Planning to Bomb Christian Church in Pittsburg in the Name of ISIS

The FBI arrested a Syrian refugee on Wednesday who was planning to bomb a Pittsburg church in the name of ISIS.

According to Fox News, 21-year-old Mustafa Mousab Alowemer was under investigation by the FBI and he met several times in between the months of April and June with an undercover FBI agent and an FBI informant – both of whom were posing as ISIS sympathizers.

The FBI agent was able to uncover Alowemer’s plan to bomb Legacy International Worship Center Christian church in northern Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. According to Fox News, the 21-year-old disclosed details of his plan, information about the materials he purchased to build a bomb and Google satellite images of the church along with his escape routes to the undercover FBI agent.

ABC News reports that prosecutors found that Alowemer had recently purchased a handful of materials to be used to make a bomb including nails, batteries and chemicals.

Reportedly, Alowemer intended to carry out his plan in the early morning hours sometime next month.

According to a criminal complaint, while being investigated, the agent also learned that Alowemer – who came to the United States in 2016 as a refugee from Daraa, Syria – had been in contact with another ISIS supporter and had pledged his allegiance in a video to the leader of ISIS.

ABC News reports that the Department of Justice…
