Facebook Updates 2015: Trending Again in Five Categories

Facebook continue to improve its features and update its security protocols to give its users worthwhile experience while updating their statuses on the social media platform. In its latest update, Facebook rolls out its “Trending” section that allows users to see the topics and headlines that might be of interest to them.

Facebook Trending section now available in selected countries.

Taking after the “Trending Topics”of Twitter, Facebook launched in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and India their own “Trending” section with the social media’s web homepage sidebar. The sidebar will feature lists of words and phrases highly mentioned. It also includes a brief explanation of why those particular words and phrases are trending. This format frees the users of having to follow through several hashtags to identify the main source of the topic, which is what happens with Twitter’s “Trending Topics.”

“The description next to the topic is actually a headline that provides context around the topic and what is causing it to trend. We have rules in place that work to select concise, accurate, informative headlines,” a Facebook representative said.

The section will have five categories: Sports, Entertainment, Politics, Business, and Science and Technology. According to VentureBeat, Facebook is working on incorporating the update on its mobile apps.

This new addition to Facebook is beneficial for marketers that have contents that match category niches as they can target their audiences who “follow” trending topics included in the list. It would also be home to most news outfits wanting to get more exposure and user engagement.

This is a good addition to the social media app, however, to be able to efficiently maximize this feature, more Facebook users would need to post publicly because Facebook will only show a feed of links and posts according to updates from users who have the “Follow” feature that will allow people (even non-friends) to read public posts.

“Trending” will be accessible to Facebook users in several countries in the next few weeks.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Nexus 5 Release Date: Roll-Out Ongoing for Nexus 5, What About Other Nexus Devices?

Christian Post Report – As Google Nexus 5 owners are giving feedback that they are already receiving the latest Android 5.1 update for Lollipop, there is no word yet on when other Nexus devices will receive the much-awaited update that is said to fix numerous bugs and issues that Lollipop users earlier complained about.

Google announced the Android 5.1 update in March with the company saying that it will only be initially available to selected units. While it was expected that Google will prioritize its own Nexus devices, the time frame for the roll out of the updates was not clear early on.

A report in Venture Capital Post also confirmed that the first update received by selected users on Nexus 5 last month was different from what Nexus 5 owners are receiving now. The current version is said to bring SIM card improvements, which was not present in the first build.

Google also confirmed early on that the update will be rolled out to Nexus 6 owners as well. The time frame and the type of update has not been confirmed. It will be up to Nexus 6 owners to confirm when they have started receiving the update.

It was also reported that Nexus 4, 7 and 9 devices are next in the line-up for the updates but again, Google was mum about the time frame.

The Android 5.1 update is reported to bring a lot of improvements in the Lollipop experience. Firstly, it is supposed to address some of the bugs and issues that Android 5.0 Lollipop users have raised. The update is said to bring: improvements in battery life; increased protection and security through a new locking system that prevents the device from being used when stolen or lost; ability to place high definition voice calls between devices running the new OS, and SIM card improvements.

Update version 5.1.1 however is said to additionally address the memory leak problem encountered by earlier Lollipop users.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Release Date Xbox One, PS4, PC News: Teaser Trailer Reveals Plot Details

Christian Post Report – The next installment of the “Black Ops” series of “Call of Duty” is coming to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, generally called next generation consoles. “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” may likely have a PC version as well, but it is not yet clear if versions for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 will be developed.

Call of Duty YOUTUBESCREENSHOT/ Call of Duty

Activision’s next Call of Duty from Treyarch will be Black Ops III as suggested by a teaser.

The story is set in “a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare,” as reported by Gamespot.

The game will have three modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.

Another report in Venture Capital Post specifies other game details that were said to be revealed in a recent teaser trailer that was released. One of the first reveals are possible game locations as indicated in actual map coordinates: a prison in Zurich, a school in Singapore and a location near the Nile River in Egypt.

Another detail the report speculated on was the possibility that “Black Ops 3” may likely allow players to “‘revisit’ sequences to previous events in the Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2.” This is possible because of the time travel and alternate history features of all games in the series.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. The first game of the series was released in 2010 and was set in the 1960s. The second game was released in 2012 and set in the 1980s and 2025.

Activision will be making a formal unveiling of the game on April 26.

New Technology News 2015: Sharp Announced Highest Resolution 5.5-Inch Display Ever

Christian Post Report – In recent years, more smartphones are getting better and higher quality displays in order to improve user experience to their customers. A couple of years ago, Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution was the best in the mobile phone industry. However, it was replaced by QHD (2560 x 1440) screens last year. Now, it seems Sharp will take its place at the top of the display food chain once more.

Sharp Electronics Reuters

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Japanese manufacturer has recently announced its new 4K LCD display that boasts a 3860 x 2160 resolution. In a 5.5-inch display, the resolution results in an 806ppi density.

In the report, the UHD display will fit the phablets of today, and could be the next best thing in the mobile industry.

Unfortunately, the report also mentioned that mass production for the 4K displays could be a problem, and Sharp stated that it might only be able to mass-produce the displays in 2016.

However, it seems the technology does not impress some consumers.

Some user comments mentioned that the ultra high-resolution display would only take a large toll on the mobile device’s battery.

Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Release Date Soon for HTC Devices: Taiwanese Manufacturer Skipping Version 5.0.2

Christian Post Report – HTC is known for releasing Android updates on time or at least a few weeks after the official update rolled out. However, it seems that for Android Lollipop, the Taiwanese manufacturer will be making an exception.

According to a report by Phone Arena, HTC’s current devices that are now running on Android 5.0 Lollipop will skip the 5.0.2 update, which was released a couple of months ago.

HTC One M9 Facebook/ HTC One M9

HTC One M9

Instead, the phone maker will head straight to Android 5.1, where there will be more changes and improvements.

The Android smartphone maker will release the Android 5.1 Lollipop update together with its new Sense 7.0 UI.

Some of the devices that will support Android’s latest version include the HTC One M8, HTC One M8s, HTC Desire EYE, HTC Butterfly 2, and other handsets.

Of course, the latest One M9 and the upcoming One M9 Plus will get the update as well.

For many years, HTC has been one of the top Android device makers in the market. However, after peaking in sales in 2011, it has been a continuous downfall for the Taiwanese manufacturer.

A report earlier this year said that HTC has had a profitable Q4 in 2014, its first in the last three years.

Hopefully, the company will be able to bank on its success and improve its position in the global market.

Indiana Pacers vs Memphis Grizzlies Live Stream Free: Watch NBA 2015 Basketball Online (Start Time, Preview)

Christian Post Report – The Indiana Pacers will go on the road to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night for their final regular season game, and everything is still to play for, with the final playoff berth up for grabs if the Pacers can claim victory. The game is scheduled to start at 9.30 p.m. ET and takes place from the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. The game can be watched on TV on the ESPN network or online through free live stream (details below).

The Pacers are in a fight to the death with the Brooklyn Nets for the final NBA 2015 playoff berth, and it is Indiana who have the edge coming into the last game of the regular season.

While the Nets tripped up this week, losing the chance to keep their destiny in their own hands, the Pacers held their nerve on Tuesday night, claiming a 99-95 win in a second period of overtime to put them on 38-43 for the season, compared to the Nets’ 37-44.

That means it all comes down to tonight, with the Nets scheduled to play the Orlando Magic.

If the Nets lose tonight, or if the Pacers win then it will be Indiana that progresses to the postseason to face a first round date with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Grizzlies meanwhile still will be looking at things to determine who they will play in the Playoffs.

Memphis were looking like they would make the No. 2 seed spot in the Western Conference just three weeks back, but in recent weeks they have fallen into a slide, which has seen them lose six games in 10 games.

The Grizzlies slide could not have come at a worse time as it has coincided with the Spurs’ 11 game win streak, as well as Houston’s 8-3 run. That means the Spurs and Rockets have the commanding positions at the top of the division, and the Grizzlies will be desperate to win tonight to claim the fifth seed position.

Tonight’s big game between the Indiana Pacers and the Memphis Grizzlies will start at 9.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream by clicking here.

Central division rivals, Chicago and Nashville were only separated by two points at the end of the regular season. The Blackhawks had multiple chances to finish higher in the standings as Nashville failed to win in their last six matches.

Chicago Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews congratulates goalie Corey Crawford after their team defeated the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of their NHL Western Conference final hockey playoffs in Chicago, Illinois, June 2, 2013.

However, the Blackhawks struggled as well. They lost their last four matches including against Central rivals St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche.

Chicago’s last win was against the Buffalo Sabres in a match that saw them take an early lead but only find themselves trailing in the closing stages of the game but mounting an impressive comeback.

Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp scored within the first 10 minutes of the match to give the Blackhawks the lead. However, the Sabres responded by three straight goals to lead 3-2 with only seven minutes remaining. It took a heroic effort from Jonathan Toews to score two goals in the last two minutes of the game to give Chicago the victory.

Meanwhile, the Predators last victory was against the Washington Capitals.

They dominated the game early with goals from Mattias Ekholm, Mike Fisher and Filip Forsberg. However, they allowed Washington to come back to cut the lead to one goal before Mike Ribeiro eventually finished the game off.

As far as head-to-head battles are concerned, Chicago have won three of their four meetings in the regular season.

Having met twice at Bridgestone Arena, Nashville won their first home game 3-2, with James Neal securing a hat trick to beat the visitors. Chicago had their reply in the next game in Tennessee as they dominated the Predators 3-1 with Marian Hossa scoring two goals for the Blackhawks.

USA vs Mexico Live Stream Free: Watch International Soccer Online (Start Time, Preview)

Christian Post Report – The USA will play Mexico on Wednesday night with just three months to go until the Gold Cup gets underway. That means that both Jurgen Klinsmann and counterpart Miguel Herrera will be looking to see who they want in their squads for the upcoming competition. Tonight’s game will kick off at 9 p.m. ET and takes place from the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas. The game can be watched on TV on the Fox Sports 1 network, or online through free live stream (details below).

United States national soccer team coach Jurgen Klinsmann attends a training session at the Dunas Arena soccer stadium in Natal June 15, 2014.

This could be one of the last opportunities Klinsmann and Herrera have to look at their players before the Gold Cup, and even though they will want to experiment to a certain extent they will also know the importance of building confidence and getting a starting 11 to gel together ahead of a big tournament.

Tonight’s game is not an official FIFA international date, and so both teams will only be calling upon mostly their domestic based players, which does limit the usefulness of the fixture to both managers somewhat, but they will still have a clear agenda and goal for tonight’s game.

Despite the limitations on bringing more wider players in to tonight’s game, Klinsmann has been able to bring in DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham Hotspur and Julian Green from Bayern Munich, who is on loan at Hamburg right now.

Klinsmann will also send out Michael Bradley to lead his side, but the starting 11 and the team formation is still to be determined.

One added ingredient about tonight’s game is that the Alamo Dome does have astro-turf, and that means for today’s fixture, groundsmen have laid temporary grass down. That creates problems in itself though, and could make for an uneven bounce in some areas. However, both teams will have the same challenge and the game will no doubt be fierce between these two rivals.

The game between the USA and Mexico will start at 9 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream by clicking here.

Christian Post Report – With the regular season wrapped up, the top teams are left and the New York Islanders play the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center in the first game of their playoff series. The match is on April 15, 2015 at 7 p.m. PM ET.

Metropolitan Division rivals, the Captials finished second and won home advantage despite being tied on points with the Islanders.

NHL NHL

The NHL is looking to expand has Las Vegas in its sights

Washington ended their regular season with a loss against the New York Rangers. Before that loss they won two straight games and had six straight games where they secured at least a point.

On the other hand, the Islanders scored a point against the Columbus Blue Jackets in their last game as they lost 5-4 in a penalty shootout. They have alternated wins in their last seven matches to close out the season.

As far as their head-to-head battles are concerned, they met a total of four times this year, with the series split 2-2.

In their first meeting, the Islanders won 3-2 in overtime thanks to a John Tavares goal in the extra period. Anders Lee and Travis Hamonic scored for New York, while Alex Ovechkin tied things up on separate occasions to bring the game to overtime but fell short and Washington had to settle for a point.

The Capitals bounced back in the second game as they played as hosts, beating New York 5-2 with Andre Burakovsky and Marcus Johansson scoring early for Washington but was leveled by Tavares and Lee. However, three goals in the last two periods separated the two teams to give Washington their revenge.

Their third meeting in New York ended similar to their first meeting, an overtime win for the Islanders, this time with Johnny Boychuck being the hero for the hosts.

And just to prove how evenly matched these two teams are, the fourth meeting ended in a Washington victory, but New York also had a point as the game ended in a 3-2 penalty shootout win for the Capitals.

With close games in the regular season, expect a tight match in the first round of the playoffs.
