Christian Post Report – Germanwings Flight 9525 co-pilot Andreas Lubitz researched suicide methods and cockpit doors days before crashing the plane last week in the French Alps and killing all 150 people on board, officials revealed.

Investigators discovered the information after finding an iPad belonging to Lubitz at his apartment in Düsseldorf, and went through the browser history from March 16 to March 23, The New York Times reported.

“During this time, the user was searching for medical treatments, as well as informing himself about ways and possibilities of killing himself,” prosecutors said in a statement.

“On at least one day, the person concerned also spent several minutes looking up search terms about cockpit doors and their safety measures.”

Torn-up doctor’s notes have also been found in Lubitz’ apartment, revealing he was unfit to fly on the day of the crash. Medical reports have further noted that Lubitz was treated for a “severe depressive episode” that interrupted his flight training six years ago, but he then showed improvement and earned his license.

The logo of Germanwings, a member of the Lufthansa Group, is seen next to a black ribbon and a flower commemorating the victims of Germanwings flight 4U9525, at a ticket counter of two airlines in Duesseldorf’s airport April 2, 2015. The second black box, the so-called data recorder of the Airbus A320 was discovered on Wednesday in the mountains where the Germanwings aircraft crashed last week. The co-pilot suspected of deliberately crashing the aircraft killing all150 people who were on board told the Lufthansa flight training school about a previous period of depression, Lufthansa said on March 31, 2015.

Investigators have said that Lubitz deliberately crashed the Airbus A320 jet last week in the French Alps, after locking the cockpit door and keeping the captain out.

The leaked audio transcript revealed that Lubitz had locked the cockpit after Capt. Patrick Sondenheimer had stepped out to go to the bathroom, and refused to open it despite the captain’s pleas and attempts to break in.

CNN reported that the second black box has now also been found, containing additional flight data that could provide more clues as to what happened.

The recorder was found eight inches below the surface by a female police officer digging through a ravine, prosecutor Brice Robin said.

“We will be able to identify the speed, the altitude and the way the pilot acted … which will be critical,” Robin predicted.

As to whether the newly discovered evidence proves that the murder-suicide was planned in advance, German criminal psychologist Gaby Dubbert said that premeditation is common in such cases.

“Based on the cases in my study, the majority of murder-suicides are planned, planned well ahead of time,” Dubbert said.

Robin further noted that searchers have found over 470 personnel effects at the crash site, including 40 badly damaged cell phones.

Investigators have rejected claims that cell phone footage of the flight’s final moments was found, though two publications, German daily Bild and French Paris Match, claimed that they have seen the video and described it in detail.

“One can hear cries of ‘My God’ in several languages,” Paris Match reported. “Metallic banging can also be heard more than three times, perhaps of the pilot trying to open the cockpit door with a heavy object.

Toward the end, after a heavy shake, stronger than the others, the screaming intensifies. Then nothing.”

Investigators have also isolated 150 different sets of DNA from the crash site, though Robin said that more work needs to be done to identify the victims.

“It doesn’t mean we have identified 150 victims. We need to compare (the recovered DNA to) DNA from the families and the deceased,” he noted.

Family members of passengers feared killed in Germanwings plane crash react at Barcelona’s El Prat airport March 24, 2015. No one survived when an Airbus A320 passenger plane operated by Lufthansa’s budget subsidiary Germanwings flight crashed in southern France on Tuesday and it is likely to take days to recover the bodies of those on board due to difficult terrain, French police at the crash site said.

Asus Zenfone 3 Specs Rumors, Features Review: Next-Gen Device Tipped to Get Fingerprint Sensors

As one of the most popular handsets today, the Asus Zenfone 2 lineup of smartphones has been doing well in the announcement department.

Christian Post Report – YouTube Screenshot of a hands-on review of the Zenfone 2 at the MWC 2015.

A couple of months after they were announced, the devices have rolled out in the company’s home market in Taiwan, as well as in China. Soon, more Android fans in Asian markets would be able to get their hands on the high-end device.

However, even before the Asus Zenfone 2 phones make an impact in the Western market, a company executive said in a press event that their upcoming devices would be equipped with the latest fad in the tech industry – fingerprint scanners.

While fingerprint sensors have been with electronic devices in as early as the 1990s, it was popularized by Apple when it included the technology in its iPhone 5s handset.

Now, the Cupertino manufacturer includes fingerprint-scanning capabilities to all of its latest devices.

As for Asus, the Taiwan-based company may be following Apple’s footsteps in this department. Chief executive Jerry Shen of Asus told the media last week that the Zenfone 3 will have fingerprint scanners.

In the report by GSM Arena, Shen also hinted that the Zenfone 2 devices will get fresher versions later this year, some of which would boast fingerprint scanners as well.

Since Apple began using fingerprint scanners, it has enabled mobile devices to make secure payments online. Fingerprint-detection sensors also increase a phone’s security.

Obama Hails Iran Nuke Deal as Not Based on Trust but ‘Unprecedented Verification’; Will It Help Free Pastor Abedini?

U.S. President Barack Obama speaks about the framework agreement on Iran’s nuclear program announced by negotiators in Switzerland during a statement in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington April 2, 2015.

Christian Post Report – President Barack Obama has hailed the historic deal reached with Iran on Thursday, which will restrict part of its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions. Meanwhile Naghmeh Abedini, the wife of imprisoned pastor and American citizen Saeed Abedini, has said that she hopes the deal will help facilitate her husband’s release.

“This will be a long-term deal, that addresses each path to a potential Iranian nuclear bomb,” Obama said about the deal.

“If Iran cheats, the world will know it,” he added, clarifying that the agreement is based not on trust but on “unprecedented verification.”

The president insisted that when the deal is finalized by the end of June, “we will be able to resolve one of the greatest threats to our security, and to do so peacefully.”

The negotiations with Iran were held between the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council – the U.S., the U.K., France, Russia, and China – along with Germany.

The State Department published a fact list explaining the deal in detail, and highlighted that Iran will have to reduce the number of its centrifuges that can be used to enrich uranium into a bomb by more than two-thirds.

What is more, Iran agreed to not enrich uranium over 3.67 percent for at least 15 years, and will have to reduce its current stockpile of about 10,000 kg of low-enriched uranium (LEU) to 300 kg of 3.67 percent LEU for 15 years.

CNN reported that the deal was met with jubilation in Iran, with people celebrating on the streets.

“Iranians erupted in celebration as young people waved flags from their sunroofs, blasted music from stereos and chatted online with the hashtag #IranTalks,” the report said.

“Just before midnight on Thursday, Vali Asr street, one of Tehran’s main thoroughfares, turned into something like a block party,” it added.

“Car horns blared. Men danced in the middle of traffic. Some people flaunted U.S. dollar bills. It was a fitting double occasion: The agreement was struck on the final day of Persian New Year festivities, symbolizing a fresh start.”

Meanwhile Naghmeh Abedini, who has been campaigning and has met with Obama about her husband’s release, shared in a statement that she hopes the deal brings the pastor a step closer to freedom.

Pastor Abedini has been imprisoned for over 920 days in Iran because of his Christian faith, and has been the subject of international petitions calling for his release.

Following the negotiations, Secretary of State John Kerry addressed the issue of imprisoned American citizens in Iran and said:

“And finally, with respect to our citizens, we of course have had a number of conversations, and no meeting, no date when we come together has been without conversation about our American citizens. I’m not going to go into any details except to say to you that that conversation is continuing.”

Kerry added that there is a “specific process in place,” and promised the U.S. will continue engaging with Iran every day about releasing imprisoned Americans and getting them back home to their famililies.

Abedini responded directly to the statement, and said that she hopes the deal will indeed be helpful in that regard:

“As Secretary Kerry stated, the United States and Iran continue to talk about the release of Saeed and the other Americans held captive in Iran. It is the hope of our family that Saeed and the others are released and returned to their families. President Obama has told our family that he considers securing the freedom of Saeed to be a ‘top priority’ and I continue to take him at his word.”

The American Center for Law and Justice, the law group which represents Naghmeh Abedini and the couple’s two children in America, has said that Iran must prove its commitment to improving its human rights record by releasing Abedini.

House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner said, however, that the deal represents “an alarming departure from the White House’s initial goals,” and insisted that Congress be allowed to review the details of the agreement before Iran receives any sanctions relief.

“After visiting with our partners on the ground in the Middle East this week, my concerns about Iran’s efforts to foment unrest, brutal violence and terror have only grown. It would be naïve to suggest the Iranian regime will not continue to use its nuclear program, and any economic relief, to further destabilize the region,” Boehner said.

“In the weeks ahead, Republicans and Democrats in Congress will continue to press this administration on the details of these parameters and the tough questions that remain unanswered. We will stand strong on behalf of the American people and everyone in the Middle East who values freedom, security, and peace.”

The Dallas Cowboys Restructure Tony Romo’s Contract

Tony Romo (Photo: Reuters)

The Dallas Cowboys restructured the contract of QB Tony Romo freeing up enough cap space for a potential run at Adrian Peterson.

The Dallas Cowboys have restructured the contract of Tony Romo again. While this saves them money in the short term, it adds significant salary to later years of the contract and more importantly increases his cap hit as he gets older.

Romo, set to turn 35 in a few weeks, will certainly decline in skill and he gets older as all NFL QBs do. This could create an interesting problem down the road for the team when it becomes necessary to cut Romo and eat the cap hit on the dead money all of this restructuring has created.

“The Cowboys have restructured Romo’s deal yet again, creating $12.8 million in cap space this year,” Pro Football Talk reported. “A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that it wasn’t a negotiated restructuring, but an automatic conversion of $16 million of Romo’s base salary to a signing bonus. His salary for 2015 becomes $1 million.”

Signed until 2019, the Cowboys have added $3.2 million of cap charge to the remaining years of the deal. However, the $12.8 million in cap space may become very significant as the team searches for a replacement for the departed Demarco Murray.

Adrian Peterson has a 2015 $12.75 million dollar cap hit, and has long been rumored to be interested in playing for the Dallas Cowboys. The running back wants out of Minnesota and fresh start somewhere else, and now the Cowboys have the cap room to absorb his contract. They would still need to trade for the talented running back and that cost is likely to be high.

“We might add that Peterson and Jerry Jones once had a conversation that skirted the lines of tampering, a conversation in which Peterson reportedly told Jones he wanted to retire a Cowboy,” Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports added. “This is, after all, a kid who grew up a Cowboys fan, went to their games (and in their locker room) as a high-school player in Texas and who wants no part of his current team.”

Detroit Tigers MLB 2015 News, Rumors: This Could Be the Detroit Tigers Everyday Lineup

Now the Detroit Tigers have made their roster decision in terms of position players Brad Ausmus has to come up with a daily lineup that can compete not only with the team in the American League Central but all of baseball. The Tigers roster has some holes, there is not a true lead off man, and the 7-9 hitters have been notoriously weak in past seasons. However, this off season has been more about the Tigers finding balance than having one part of their roster be completely dominant.

Christian Post Report – This is the lineup the Tigers used over the weekend:

1. CF Anthony Gose (L)
2. 2B Ian Kinsler (R)
3. 1B Miguel Cabrera (R)
4. DH Victor Martinez (S)
5. RF JD Martinez (R)
6. LF Yoenis Cespedes (R)
7. C Alex Avila (L)
8. 3B Nick Castellanos (R)
9. SS Jose Iglesias (R)

Miguel Cabrera reuters.com

Miguel Cabrera returns as the center piece of the Detroit Tigers lineup

Gose has impressive in Spring Training with his ability to get on base. Once he does so he has the speed and base running skills to be a real threat. Kinsler batted second most of the time in 2014 and is very good in that spot. The power of 3-6 should scare any pitcher because one mistake could lead to a big inning.

Avila needs to continue to get on base while Castellanos works on his power. The only real hole is Iglesias but he is on this team for what he can do in the field not what he does at the plate. When the Tigers face a left handed started expect Rajai Davis to play center and hit leadoff, and James McCann to play catcher and hit 8th bumping Castellon up to 7th.

Expect to see Davis not only sharing time in Center but spelling the other outfielder in the corners. He is simply too valuable to only face left handed pitching.

HTC One M9+ Release Date: New Android Handset Coming Soon, Alleged Images Leak

The HTC One M9 may be the current flagship for the Taiwan-based manufacturer, but it would not take long until people shift their attention to the One M9 Plus.

Christian Post Report – According to recent reports, the Android-powered handset will be announced at an HTC event in China on April 8. It also shows that the One M9 Plus will first become available in China, and soon other Asian markets.

The HTC One M9

Now, a report from GSM Arena revealed that the upcoming HTC smartphone was again spotted, this time on social media.

In the report, several leaked images of the device were allegedly posted by @upleaks. The image shows the phone’s striking similarities to the One M9.

However, there are a few notable differences while looking at the handset’s design. First, the 20.7MP camera sensor of the One M9 Plus is a circle while the one in the One M9 is more like a square.

Another difference is HTC’s choice to include a physical home button in the One M9 Plus. But because the original design had BoomSound speakers in both the top and bottom portions of the device, the manufacturer had to ‘cut’ the bottom speaker grill into two, in order to make way for the home button.

Other rumored specs of the device include a 5.2-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, and two versions based on its chipset – either a Snapdragon 810 or a MediaTek MT6795.

Aside from the One M9 Plus, another HTC device that is making the rounds in the rumor mill is the One E9.

Sony Xperia Z4 Specs Rumors, Features Review: Leaked Benchmark Results Reveal Upcoming Flagship’s Best Bits

A lot of people were surprised when the Consumer Electronics Show and the Mobile World Congress passed without Sony announcing any flagships. In comparison, the Japanese manufacturer was more aggressive last year, announcing the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 only months apart.

Christian Post Report – Fortunately, a new leak suggests that the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 is already on its way.

Sony Xperia Z4 Youtube Screenshot/ file

Sony Xperia Z4

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone recently showed up in a benchmarking app, GFXBench.

In the details that followed, the alleged Sony Xperia Z4 will potentially boast a 5.1-inch display, the company’s Triluminous technology and Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.

The alleged Xperia Z4 continues to follow the HTC One M9’s footsteps with a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM and a 32GB built-in memory, of which 23GB will be user-accessible.

Other features and specs include an Adreno 430 GPU, a 19MP (probably 20.7MP) back camera that can shoot 1080p clips. The phone runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

While the report did not specify whether the Xperia Z4 would get water and dust resistance, it may just be a given for any Sony flagship.

In the report, the mysterious Sony device has a model number E6553. Based on the Japanese manufacturer’s previous naming schemes, the report claims that this could in fact be the Xperia Z4.

Other brands who have not announced any high-end devices yet include Motorola. LG has already unveiled a high-end smartphone, the G Flex 2, but that was during the first week of January.
