‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Casting Rumors, News: Lana Condor to Play Jubilee, Channing Tatum to Cameo as Gambit

Channing Tatum arrives for the premiere of “22 Jump Street” in New York June 4, 2014.

Christian Post Report – Fox’s upcoming big screen offering “X-Men: Apocalypse” from the hit X-Men franchise has been touted to be even bigger than its last installment, “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

To better serve the goal, earlier reports indicated a slew of newcomers who will play the younger versions of the original trilogy players like Jean Grey (who will now be taken over by GoT’s Sophie Turner), Storm (by Alexandra Shipp), and Cyclops (by Tue Sheridan).

Then just yesterday, director Bryan Singer posted on social media to post yet another newcomer, Lana Condor, who will play as Jubilee, otherwise known as Jubilation Lee.

Played previously by Kea Wong and Katrina Florence across the three original X-Men movies, the mutant youngster once had the ability to project pyrotechnic energy plasmoids and evade detection. She was later depowered in the “New Warriors” comic series where she now possesses the powers and abilities of a vampire.

It should be confirmed later on as to which powers and abilities will Jubilee harnesses in the Singer-helmed film.

Meanwhile, earlier casting reports from Latino Review also indicated that one major character to be played by equally famous actor will be coming over in “Apocalypse” alongside the franchise’s mainstays.

The Instagram post pointed out that Apocalypse will begin principal photography in Montreal this April 28 to which cameos by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Hallie Berry’s Storm are to be expected.

Then there’s “Haywire” actor Channing Tatum who will debut as Gambit, the publication wrote.

Tatum has previously expressed excitement in suiting up as the card-slinging mutant to which he considers as someone close to his heart.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is slated to hit the theatres this May 27, 2016.

Words Matter

“But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.'”
— Matthew 5:37

Christian Post Report – During the days of the early church, thousands lost their lives because they would not say two words: Kaiser Kurios, which means “Caesar is Lord.” That’s because they understood that words matter.

You may remember the story of Rachel Scott. She was one of the 13 people who were killed at Columbine High School. Rachel, 17, was a strong Christian and very involved in her youth group.

On April 20, 1999, armed students began shooting people on Rachel’s high school campus. They came to Rachel and shot her twice in the legs and once in the torso. Then they left, only to return moments later. Lifting her by the head, they asked, “Do you believe in God?” Rachel understood that the words she chose would have serious consequences.

These godless men would take her life if she said yes, and perhaps even if she said no. But without hesitation, Rachel said, “You know I do!”

“Then go be with him,” responded one of the boys before shooting her in the head. Rachel received a martyr’s crown that day, I am sure. What would you have said under such circumstances?

Rachel understood that words matter.

‘Criminal Minds’ Season 10: Episode 18 Recap ‘Rock Creek Park’

Criminal Minds CBS/ Criminal Minds

A congressman’s wife is kidnapped, on Criminal Minds

Christian Post Report – On this week’s episode of “Criminal Minds,” a congressman’s wife gets kidnapped, and the BAU investigates his political enemies as possible suspects.

Congressman Benjamin Troy’s wife, Sophie, is kidnapped in broad daylight. The BAU realizes that if they don’t find her soon, her abductors could manipulate the congressman into doing a lot of things, such as not lending his support to a particular bill.

Later, the team is baffled when the kidnappers drop off a ransom note demanding $20 million in exchange for Sophie. The note goes on to say that if the money is not delivered by midnight, then they’ll kill the congressman’s wife. The team thinks that the demand makes no sense, because how would they know if Ben has access to that much money? Ben says that all the money that he has was from the campaign, and it’s not possible for him to get that to save Sophie.

It’s revealed that the kidnapping was not done out of political reasons—it has been personal all along. It turns out that Ben’s brother, Paul, owes some Russian drug dealers some money and it’s taking so long for him to pay it that he asks Ben to take care of it for him.

In exchange for the favor, Paul promises Ben that he won’t tell Sophie that Ben has been sleeping with an intern. However, Ben has been faithful to Sophie since they got married. He did date the intern briefly, but that was before they got married. The intern refuses to leave him alone though and starts threatening to kill herself in order to get Ben’s attention.

It also happens that Ben’s mother never approved of Sophie, so she arranged for kidnappers to kill Sophie so that Ben could marry someone else, hopefully this time someone she likes. Moreover, she orchestrated the kidnapping to create sympathy and boost Ben’s visibility with his approval ratings waning. But upon realizing that her scheme could hurt her son’s career, she gives in and calls the kidnappers to release Sophie.

“Criminal Minds” airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Super Troopers 2

Christian Post Report – For those fans eagerly wishing for the “Super Troopers” to return in the big screen, they can now start counting the days as the recent crowdfunding update for the anticipated sequel indicates that it has already surpassed the initial $2 million goal.

A report from Variety said that as of 5 p.m. PDT yesterday, Broken Lizard, the house behind the hit comedy movie, has already taken in $2.14 million in their Indiegogo campaign.

This will now assure for the second instalment to go into production, which was originally planned to go this summer, and will premiere on theatres probably in early 2016.

The script is already “written and we’re getting all antsy in our pantsy to start shooting,” according to their IndieGogo page.

“Super Troopers 2” will once again see the five Troopers featured in the original 2001 crime-comedy: Jay Chandrasekhar will appear as Trooper Arcot Ramathorn, Paul Soter as Trooper Jeff Foster, Steve Lemme as Trooper Mac Womack, Ertik Stolhankse as Trooper “Rabbit” Roto, and Kevin Heffernan as Farva.

20th Century Fox has agreed to distribute the film.

The “Super Troopers 2” campaign, which was set for a 30-day duration, is touted to break the current $5.7 million crowdfunding record for a film holder “Veronica Mars,” which was done on Kickstarter.

Perks offered in the campaign includes access to annotated script, ownership and rights to one of the troopers patrol cars, the chance for a town to be named in the film, getting a producer credit, hanging out with the guys and many more.

Vin Diesel has named his newborn daughter after his late “Fast & Furious” co-star, Paul Walker.

Christian Post Report – Vin Diesel, whose partner, Mexican model Paloma Jimenez, recently gave birth to their third child this month, has named his new daughter after his late co-star, Paul Walker.

Diesel, 47, who has starred with Walker in all seven “Fast & Furious” films since 2001, named his daughter Pauline after Walker, 40, perished in a car crash in November 2013 during a break in the filming of “Fast & Furious 7.”

“I might never have gone into a delivery room if it wasn’t for Paul,” Diesel said on the “Today” show, as published in The National. When Diesel’s first born, Hania Riley was born in 2008, Walker advised him to be present during the delivery and cut the umbilical cord himself.

Vin Diesel posted this picture of him and his newborn daughter, Pauline, on Facebook on March 16

According to the actor, naming his daughter, Pauline, felt like a way to keep Walker’s memory alive as a part of his family.

Diesel, who admitted to being devastated at Walker’s death, said his thoughts were on his late co-star when he was in the delivery room with Paloma and cutting his youngest child’s umbilical cord.

The new film in the franchise, “Furious 7,” is dedicated to Walker, and will premiere April 3, nearly two years after the actor’s death. During the film’s early screening, Diesel gave a short emotional speech about Walker, and how much he will be missed in many ways other than as an actor.

With Paul Walker’s death before filming was completed on the movie, the actor’s brothers Cody and Caleb Walker acted as stand-ins to complete the unfinished scenes.

Returning cast from the previous film include Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Elsa Pataky. The upcoming “Furious 7” will be introducing new characters played by Kurt Russell, Ronda Rousey, Djimon Hounsou, Nathalie Emmanuel, and a cameo by Iggy Azalea.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Rolling Out for AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Note 3 Neo to Receive Update Later This Year

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Reuters/File

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in display.

Christian Post Report – Following the release of Google’s Android 5.0.1 for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 under AT&T earlier this week, the 2013 phablet flagship from the South Korean tech giant is also getting the Lollipop update while its lesser known cousin will be having it later this year.

A report from Phone Arena cited Android Authority confirming the news that the U.S. mobile carrier is now rolling out the update to the said handset.

Of what appears to be a total redesign, the new mobile operating system weighs in 1.1GB file size of which the network noted that users need to be connected to Wi-Fi and their battery charged up at least 50 percent to complete the download and installation process.

The download is already available Over-The-Air and carries the build number LRX21V.N900AUCUEOC1. And since it is being sent out OTA, this means Note 3 owners should be patient as the upgrade arrives in waves and this could take several days.

For those opting to do it manually, they can go to their device’s Settings, then to General, About Device, Software Updates, and then Check for Updates.

The update is bringing along a host of changes and improvements for the phablet. This includes the new Material Design, the pull-down Quick Settings feature, the Lock Screen notifications system, the Project Volta, the 64-bit ART compiler, the Smart Lock and many more.

Meanwhile, GSM Arena said that Note 3’s lesser known cousin, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, is also getting the Lollipop.

The publication cited Samsung France’s Twitter account responding to queries where they confirmed the arrival of the update “some time later this year.”

With a 720p display, an 8 MP primary snapper and a hexa-core Exynos 52660 processor, the Note 3 Neo is considered the more affordable alternative to the mainstream Note 3.

34,000 Black Churches Leave PCUSA Over Same-Sex Marriage

pcusa (Photo: PCUSA)

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) holds its 220th General Assembly June 30-July 7, 2012, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Christian Post Report – Urging Presbyterian Church USA to “repent and be restored to fellowship,” the National Black Church Initiative, which represents 34,000 churches from 15 denominations, has declared it has severed ties with PCUSA after it amended its constitution changing their definition of marriage to include same-sex couples.

“NBCI and its membership base are simply standing on the Word of God within the mind of Christ. We urge our brother and sisters of the PCUSA to repent and be restored to fellowship,” NBCI President Rev. Anthony Evans said, according to Charisma News.

“PCUSA’s manipulation represents a universal sin against the entire church and its members. With this action, PCUSA can no longer base its teachings on 2,000 years of Christian scripture and tradition, and call itself a Christian entity in the body of Christ. It has forsaken its right by this single wrong act,” added the head of the coalition, which represents 15.7 million African-Americans.

Last year, PCUSA approved a vote on an amendment to change their official definition of marriage from “a man and a woman” to “two people, traditionally a man and a woman.” And earlier this month, the proposed change to PCUSA’s Book of Order got the necessary number of presbytery votes.

“Apostle Paul warns us about this when he declared in Galatians 1:8 that there are those who will preach another gospel,” Evans said.

“No church has the right to change the Word of God. By voting to redefine marriage PCUSA automatically forfeits Christ’s saving grace,” he added. “There is always redemption in the body of Christ through confession of faith and adhering to Holy Scripture.”

Evans said PCUSA “deliberately” voted to change the Word of God and the interpretation of marriage between one man and one woman. “This is why we must break fellowship with them and urge the entire Christendom to do so as well.”

At the PCUSA General Assembly held in Detroit, Michigan, last June, a majority of delegates voted for a recommendation to amend the Book of Order regarding marriage definition.

“A proposed amendment to change the constitution to include same-gender marriages in the church’s constitution passed the General Assembly but must be ratified by a majority of the church’s 172 regional presbyteries,” explained PCUSA in a FAQ document. “Presbyteries have one year to vote on the proposed amendment. If a majority ratifies the amendment, it would take effect June 21.”

This is not the first time that PCUSA has hit the headlines on its move toward greater acceptance of homosexuality within the church.

In 2010, the PCUSA General Assembly approved a measure that allowed for presbyteries to approve the ordination of noncelibate homosexuals – after which more than 150 congregations voted to disaffiliate from the mainline denomination.

Detroit Tigers MLB 2015 News, Rumors: What is the True Value of the Team?

Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera hits an RBI single in front of New York Yankees catcher Russell Martin during the eighth inning of Game 2 of their MLB ALCS playoff baseball series in New York, October 14, 2012.

How can it be that a company with a $20 million operating loss last year and an operating loss in five of the last seven years be worth 65 percent more than it was a year ago? That is the fuzzy math Forbes is trying to sell with its annual list of baseball team evaluations that was published today. Forbes has tracked the value of sports franchises sine 1998 but just like everyone else they do not have access to the books, so Forbes is estimating team values.

In the case of the Detroit Tigers, it seems like they are off. The value of the Tigers, according to Forbes’ estimates, is $1.125 billion. Yet, all the above rings true of this team that has won four straight division crowns.

Looking at the fuzzy math we see that the Tigers had $84 million in gate receipts on revenue of some $254 million. That means their share of the national TV deal, their local TV contract, Stadium Naming right deal, souvenir sales and concessions totaled $170 million. We know that the team had a payroll of $187 million but have no idea what the other operating expenses are.

However, given the numbers we can estimate that the team spent $87 million on them. What does a Major League Baseball team spend $87 million on that isn’t payroll?

Mike Illitch bought the team in 1992 for $82 million. The team is certainly worth more than that given its extremely high local TV ratings and solid numbers at the gate, along with the revenue a new ballpark generates. Forbes says $1.125 billion, but the team is really only worth what someone will pay for it. That means the true value lays somewhere between $82 million and whatever the team is sold for the next time it is on the market.

Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz Hid Illness from Germanwings; Ex-Girlfriend Says He Wanted to Make History

germanwings (Photo: Reuters/Eric Gaillard)

A French investigator stands in front of a map showing the crash site of a Germanwings Airbus A320 near Seynes-les-Alpes, in French Alps, March 27, 2015. A young German co-pilot barricaded himself alone in the cockpit of Germanwings flight 9525 and apparently set it on course to crash into an Alpine mountain, killing all 150 people on board including himself, French prosecutors said on Thursday. The pilot Andreas Lubitz, 27, who crashed a plane in the French Alps had received a sick note from doctors showing he suffered a health condition that would have prevented him flying the day of the crash, which he apparently hid from his employer, German prosecutors said.

Christian Post Report – Andreas Lubitz, the co-pilot who allegedly crashed Germanwings Flight 9525 into the French Alps this week, had been declared “unfit to work” by a doctor but he concealed that fact from his employer, prosecutors said. His ex-girlfriend said he told her he wanted to do something to be remembered in history.

“Documents with medical contents were confiscated that point towards an existing illness and corresponding treatment by doctors,” said the prosecutors’ office in Dusseldorf, the home of the 27-year-old German co-pilot, according to Reuters.

The prosecutors, who found torn-up sick notes in his house, said Lubitz had “hidden his illness from his employer and his colleagues.”

Meanwhile, German newspaper Bild quoted an ex-girlfriend of Lubitz, identified as Mary W, as saying he told her he wanted to “do something” to be remembered in history, according to Daily Mail.

“One day I will do something that will change the whole system, and then all will know my name and remember it,” she was quoted as saying about what he told her. “I never knew what he meant, but now it makes sense.”

Lubitz reportedly took a break in his training because of “burnout-syndrome,” she said.

“At night, he woke up and screamed: ‘We’re going down!’ because he had nightmares,” she added. “He knew how to hide from other people what was really going on inside.”

Lubitz was flying the Germanwings plane between Barcelona, Spain, and Dusseldorf Tuesday. Black Box audio recordings provided evidence that Lubitz locked himself inside the cockpit after the captain, Patrick S., had stepped out. Lubitz then activated the plane’s descent and reprogrammed the autopilot to change the plane’s altitude from 38,000 to 100 feet. The captain can be heard banging on the door and trying to get in, but Lubitz refuses to open the door. No sounds are heard from the co-pilot during the entire descent, beside his steady breathing.

All 150 on board were killed.

The prosecutors said they didn’t find any suicide note or evidence of a political or religious background to what happened.

A hospital in Dusseldorf said the pilot had visited for a diagnosis March 10, without giving details abut the illness. But it added he was not treated in that hospital for depression.

However, the Bild newspaper said Lubitz had suffered a “serious depressive episode” in 2009 during his training as per internal documents forwarded by Lufthansa’s Aero Medical Center to German authorities. He spent more than a year in psychiatric treatment, the newspaper added.

According to Carsten Spohr, CEO of Lufthansa, which owns Germanwings, Lubitz had passed medical and psychological testing when he was hired in 2013.

‘The Mindy Project’ News, Update: Executive Producer Mindy Kaling Talks Potential Season 4

The Mindy Project FACEBOOK/ The Mindy Project

FOX’s “The Mindy Project”

Christian Post Report – The third season of the hit romantic comedy TV series “The Mindy Project” has just recently ended with what E! Online called an “incredibly crafted” finale episode.

Fans saw how Daniel (Chris Messina) proved to Dr. Mindy (Mindy Kaling) that she is really the one by flying over to India.

Now that it’s officially over, followers of the show were wondering what comes next for Mindy and the rest of the Shulman & Associates. Here’s what we heard:

Prior to the airing of the concluding segment, Kaling spoke to Entertainment Weekly to dish out her thoughts about the show.

“I just don’t think this is the end for (the cast),” the 35-year-old actress told EW’s Jessica Shaw and Melissa Maerz. “I feel me and the writers have so many stories to tell, and I just have a good feeling that it’s going to come back.”

And one of those stories would definitely be about Mindy and Danny as parents.

“Danny as a father is really something to think about writing—I love that. And Mindy on maternity leave, Mindy on the playground with other moms. There’s so many things! And I feel like the way we see it portrayed on TV—to have it be funny and not have it be tragic—I’m really excited.”

She also commended her co-star Messina, saying that he was worthy of an Emmy.

“It’s a really romantic episode, and Chris Messina is so good in it,” she said. “This is the one I would submit for an Emmy for him because I think he doesn’t get thought about for those kinds of things but he just so deserves it.”

E! Online meanwhile cited their sources saying that with the “critical praise” and the “sincere love” shown towards “The Mindy Project,” there’s a high possibility that Fox would keep it “afloat once more.”

However the decision about the show’s future still remains in the hands of the network.

“Mindy is expected to get picked up somewhere. The show is produced by NBC Universal, so if Fox passes and does not pick it up for a fourth season, the studio has the right to pitch it anywhere. A likely new home could be Hulu, which is also owned by NBC Universal,” the site revealed.
