TobyMac Honors Late Son Truett with Moving Song – It’s an ‘Honest Confession’

TobyMac Honors Late Son Truett with Moving Song – It’s an ‘Honest Confession’

Christian singer TobyMac released an emotion-laden song and music video Thursday about his late 21-year-old son.

In a statement regarding the song, TobyMac shared that he is thankful for the support he’s received and that the tune is an “honest” reflection of his feelings.

The song, titled 21 years, includes the lyric, “God has you in heaven, but I have you in my heart.” and describes the emotions he felt when he first learned of his son Truett Foster McKeehan’s death last October and the feelings he has experienced since.

The video shows TobyMac singing in the rain. Pictures and videos of Truett are spliced into it.

“I loved him with all my heart,” TobyMac said in a statement. “Until something in life hits you this hard, you never know how you will handle it. I am thankful that I have been surrounded by love, starting with God’s and extending to community near and far that have walked with us and carried us every day.

“Writing this song felt like an honest confession of the questions, pain, anger, doubt, mercy and promise that describes the journey I’m probably only beginning,” he added. “The rest is yet to come. One thing I know is that I am not alone. God didn’t promise us a life of no pain or even tragic death, but He did promise He would never leave us or forsake us. And I’m holding dearly to that promise for my son as well as…

Students Can Be Forced to Watch Indigenous ‘Cleansing’ Ceremonies, Court Rules

Students Can Be Forced to Watch Indigenous ‘Cleansing’ Ceremonies, Court Rules

A school did not violate the religious rights of two elementary-aged Christian students when it allowed an Indigenous elder to perform a smudging ritual at an assembly and “cleanse” the room with smoke, a Canadian court ruled Thursday.

At issue were separate smudging and hoop dancing demonstrations that the students’ parents said became forced participation in religious ceremonies. The demonstrations took place during the 2015-16 calendar year.

In one event, a Nuu-chah-nulth elder visited a Port Alberni, British Columbia, elementary school and demonstrated the practice of smudging — the burning of plant material to “cleanse” the room of energy and to “cleanse” the participants’ spirits. A few months later, the students witnessed an Indigenous dance performance in which one of the dancers said a prayer.

The parents filed suit, claiming their religious liberties under Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms were violated. The children were ages nine and seven at the time.

Justice Douglas W. Thompson, in a 47-page decision, sided with the school.

“I conclude that these smudging and hoop dancing demonstrations were in no way — either by design or in their execution — an expression of the School District’s beliefs or an expression of religious favouritism,” Thompson wrote “Rather, the organization of these events reflected a gathering momentum to…

5 Things You Might Not Know about Iran

1. General Qassem Soleimani was Targeted for Planning an ‘Imminent’ Attack on U.S. Soldiers

Although some critics of President Trump’s action have labeled the drone strike an assassination, most agree Soleimani was a terrorist mastermind.

CNN reported Jan. 3—the day of the attack that killed Soleimani—that a congressional source revealed that American intelligence had determined the general “was in multiple countries in the region planning specific attacks on U.S. interests, including U.S. personnel.” That source added that the Iranian plans were developing beyond normal chatter.

Meanwhile, a senior administration official told CNN they had evidence Soleimani traveled to Baghdad to execute future hits on American interests.

Tony Shaffer, a former intelligence officer with the Department of Defense, outlined the case against the general in an opinion piece for Real Clear Politics. It is important to note that Shaffer is a member of the Trump 2020 advisory board.

In the article, Shaffer said his opinion is shaped by his experience going “toe-to-toe with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Afghanistan.” That experience included interrogating an IRGC “enabler.”

“As the leader of the IRGC’s Quds Force, which has been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. government, Soleimani was among America’s most vociferous and aggressive foes,” Shaffer wrote. “He was personally…

Nebraska Governor Declares ‘Day of Prayer’ to End Abortion on Roe Anniversary

Nebraska Governor Declares ‘Day of Prayer’ to End Abortion on Roe Anniversary

Nebraska’s governor has declared this year’s Roe v. Wade anniversary a “Statewide Day of Prayer” and is urging the state’s citizens to “pray for an end to abortion.”

Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts released the proclamation Wednesday, designating Jan. 22 as a day of pray and stating that Nebraska is a “pro-life state.”

“Since Roe v. Wade, over 50 million unborn children have been killed by abortion in the United States,” the proclamation says. “…  It seems right and fitting that the citizens of the State of Nebraska are urged to pray for an end to abortion and for our fellow citizens who need our love and support.”

It further notes that Nebraska “respects the dignity of human life, no matter how small” and that the state offers crisis pregnancy centers that “provide free care for expecting parents.”

The U.S. Supreme Court issued its Roe v. Wade decision on Jan. 22, 1973, legalizing abortion in all 50 states.

Below is the full text of the proclamation:

“Whereas, on January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued their Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion in all 50 states; and

“Whereas, since Roe v. Wade, over 50 million unborn children have been killed by abortion in the United States; and

“Whereas, Nebraska state law states it is the ‘will of the people of the State of Nebraska and the members of the Legislature to provide…

India Refuses to Let American Pastor to Leave the Country, His Lawyer Believes He Was Targeted for His Faith

India Refuses to Let American Pastor to Leave the Country, His Lawyer Believes He Was Targeted for His Faith

Officials in India are not allowing a pastor from Tennessee to leave the country even though his arrest from three months ago has been resolved.

Pastor Bryan Nerren was arrested three months ago for allegedly not paying duty on the money he brought into the country.

According to the Christian Post, Cece Heil, senior counsel with the American Center for Law and Justice, said Nerren paid a fine for the charge, but he is still not being allowed out of India.

Nerren was scheduled for a hearing this week but it was postponed. Heil said she had hoped the court would decide during the hearing to return his passport and let him leave India.

Nerren, the pastor of International House of Prayer Ministries in Shelbyville, was arrested on a charge that he brought $40,000 with him when he came to India in October 2019.

The money was meant to pay for his two weeks in India and Nepal where he would attend conferences and meet with other pastors.

Heil said Nerren was questioned about the money and asked whether it would be used for “Christian purposes.” Nerren was allowed to board his flight to Bagdogra, where he was arrested.

“The fact that they told him he was free and cleared to go and then alerted Bagdogra to arrest him when he got there, the facts themselves indicate that it was a setup,” Heil said.

Heil said the case has bounced from judge to…

Photographer Captures Jaw-Dropping Image of ‘Devil Horns’ Rising Out of the Persian Gulf

Photographer Captures Jaw-Dropping Image of ‘Devil Horns’ Rising Out of the Persian Gulf

A stunning image captured by a photographer in Qatar appears to show a massive pair of “devil horns” emerging from the horizon across the Persian Gulf.

The photographer, Elias Chasiotis, had planned on taking pictures of a solar eclipse when he snapped the eerie image on December 26. “I hoped that optical effects like inferior mirage would be visible and I was lucky enough to capture them,” he told Bored Panda. “I was worried that nothing would come out of the eclipse. However, when the sun finally began to rise, it looked like two separate pieces, some sort of red horns piercing the sea.”

The phenomenon is called a “Fata Morgana” and takes place when rays of light bend as they pass through air layers of varying temperatures.

Though the science behind the occurrence is proven, some Christians have suggested that there could be additional spiritual significance, particularly considering the unrest across the Gulf region in recent times.

Bizarrely, on Wednesday morning, Iran was struck by two massive earthquakes, the epicenter of which was located near a major nuclear plant.

In light of this, it is interesting to think upon the words in Mark 13:7-8:

“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in…

Worried passenger called her husband shortly before Ukrainian jet crashed: Trusting God’s power in perilous times

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) Boeing 737-800 is seen at the Boryspil International Airport.

Twenty minutes before her flight took off from Tehran Wednesday morning, Sheyda Shadkhoo called her husband from aboard the airplane. She had been visiting her mother and sisters in Iran and was heading back to her husband in Canada.

She was concerned about tensions between Tehran and the US. According to her husband, she had a premonition that her plane was going down and was worried about the people she would leave behind.

“She wanted me to assure her that there wasn’t going to be a war. I told her not to worry. Nothing’s gonna happen,” her husband told reporters. “She said, ‘OK. They’re telling me to turn off my phone. Goodbye.’ That was it.”

Sheyda Shadkhoo was one of 176 people who died when Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) Flight 752 crashed shortly after takeoff.

What destroyed the airliner?

US, Canadian, and British officials said yesterday it was “highly likely” that an Iranian anti-aircraft missile downed the jetliner. They said the strike could well have been a mistake amid rocket launches and high tension in the region.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated, “We have intelligence from multiple sources, including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile.”

UIA Flight 752 stopped transmitting data just minutes after takeoff and not long after Iran launched missiles at US forces in Iraq. Iran is denying responsibility this morning, accusing the US of “spreading lies” about the crash.

Of the 176 people on board, 130 were Iranian, sixty-three were Canadian, eleven were Ukrainian (including nine crew members), ten were Swedish, four were Afghani, three were Germans, and three were British.

Has a long-term pastor in your church retired? Is your church in crisis or conflict? Has the community surrounding you changed significantly? Sometimes churches are in need of a transitional pastor. Thom and Sam discuss what this specific role looks like, how it is different from a traditional interim pastor, and four occasions when your church may need a transitional pastor.

Highlights:

  1. When a long-term pastor retires
  2. When the church is in crisis or conflict
  3. When the community has changed significantly
  4. When the church has been inwardly focused for years

Other highlights:

  • If your church is in crisis or conflict you may need a transitional pastor.
  • A transitional pastor who can be more invested in the health and future of the church is essential following a crisis.
  • A transitional pastor may be able to help your church understand what it looks like to resemble the beauty and diversity of your community.
  • The movement from an inward focus to an outward focus is one of the greatest disruptions in the church.

Planned Parenthood Performs 81 Abortions for every 1 Adoption Referral, Data Shows

Planned Parenthood Performs 81 Abortions for every 1 Adoption Referral, Data Shows

New data showing that Planned Parenthood performs 81 abortions for every one adoption referral underscores the need to strip its government funding, says a prominent female pro-life writer.

Planned Parenthood’s annual report for 2018-19 showed its clinics performed 345,672 abortions during that time period but were responsible for only 4,279 adoption referrals, resulting in a ratio of 81 to 1. Although that’s an improvement from the ratio in its previous report (117 to 1), it’s in line with the ratio from 2016-17 (83 to 1).

Alexandra DeSanctis, a staff writer for National Review, said the data should impact the debate over Planned Parenthood’s government funding. She noted the organization also listed only 9,798 instances of prenatal services, which results in a ratio of 35 abortions for every single instance of prenatal care.

“Based on Planned Parenthood’s own reporting alone, its federal funding should be stripped and redirected to health-care organizations that actually serve women, rather than a group that profits from ending an increasing number of innocent human lives while the U.S. abortion rate continues to fall,” DeSanctis wrote.

In fact, the word “adoption” is listed only one time in the 32-page report. (“Abortion” is mentioned 48 times.)

The 345,672 abortions was a record-high for the organization.

Abortion, DeSanctis asserted, is Planned…
