The Bible teaches that faith will manifest itself in three ways. It will manifest itself in doctrine-in what you believe. It will manifest itself in worship-your communion with God and the fellowship of the church. It will manifest itself in morality-in the way you live and behave. . . . The Bible also teaches that faith does not end with trust in Christ for your salvation. Faith continues. Faith grows. It may be weak at first, but it will become stronger as you begin to read the Bible, pray, go to church, and experience God’s faithfulness in your Christian life. You will learn more and more how to rely on Christ for every need, in meeting every circumstance, and every trial.

Prayer for the day: Your Word teaches how greatly You desire for me to rely on Your love and strength. I praise Your name, my Lord and my Redeemer.

Minister’s Wife Stabbed to Death After Trying to Give Money to Panhandler


While attempting to help who she thought was a woman and baby in need, a Baltimore Minister’s wife was stabbed to death through her car window. 


Last Saturday, Jacquelyn Smith, 52, was stabbed and killed when she rolled down her car window to offer assistance to a woman holding a baby and sign asking for help. 


According to CBN News, Smith and her husband noticed the woman holding a sign that said, “Please help me feed my baby” and decided to see if they could help.


Smith, who was in the passenger seat, opened her window to give the woman money when a man walked up and reached into the car to tried to steal her wallet.


According to the Police report, there was a struggle between Smith and the man, which led him to pull out a knife and stab Smith in the torso. 


According to the report the man then ran off with the woman who had been holding the sign.  


“He snatched her necklace and before I knew it, the girl snatched the lil’ pocketbook in the seat and they both ran,” Smith’s husband recalled. “I jumped out the car to run, but I heard my wife screaming. I came back to the car.” 


The minister quickly rushed his wife to the hospital, where she later died.


Her husband told The Baltimore Sun, “I need people to know, ’cause I’m a minister, man of God, and I try to help people.”

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander Prays For Injured Alabama Qurterback Tua Tagovailoa


During the Alabama v. Georgia game on Saturday, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa injured his ankle and was rushed into surgery, but not before former NFL running back Shaun Alexander could stop and pray with him. 


According to CBN News, as the undefeated team’s quarterback was being rolled off the field Saturday night, Alexander, an Alabama Alumni, came over to pray with Tagovailoa. 


The video, which was captured by WVTM-13’s sports anchor Kyle Burger, was posted to Twitter Saturday night and has since garnered around 131,000 views. 


Tagovailoa, one of college’s most promising quarterbacks, is known for being very vocal about his Christian faith, he even made a point to give glory to God for Alabama’s 2018 National Championship win. 


Furthermore, Sports Spectrum Magazine reports that Tagovailoa shared earlier this season that he and fellow Heisman candidate Dwayne Haskins, often share Bible verses with each other.

Chris Paul received 500 letters and emails after she challenged students at Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering to set out reasons why festivities should not be cancelled.

The religious education teacher admitted her idea had caused a “storm in a teacup” among some parents but the idea also prompted positive conversations about the true meaning of Christmas.

 

She explained how some children described Christmas in their notes as a time to spend time with family and help people in need. Others “underpinned the Christians values” behind Christmas.

Chris Paul told Premier: “We had this great gift given to us [Jesus] and what happens is we spend more time thinking about the wrapping paper and the celebrations… rather than actually digging down into what this incarnation of God meant.”

 

Paul had told parents there would be “no cards, no parties, no gifts and no Christmas tree” unless pupils could persuade her to change her mind.

She continued: “We had a lot of parents very, very angry that their children were going to lose their Christmas in school.

A South Carolina Megachurch Pastor is receiving both praise and criticism after offering parishioners in need money from the church offering plates. 


Pastor John Gary of Relentless Church in Greenville, SC, posted a video to Facebook last week where he can be seen standing before his congregation and asking them how the church can help them meet their needs. 


He said, “The role of the church is also to meet the needs of people in the house.” 


“Any single mothers in here?” he asked. “Any widows? Are there any single fathers, are there any veterans that don’t have what they need to make ends meet,” he continued.


“Come to the altar. Stand right here. There’s some money in these baskets,” Gary said as he pointed down to the offering baskets at the front of the stage.


The church exploded with applause, as Gary said while holding back tears, “You get what you need for you and the kids to eat and get some gas. We might not be able to do everything, but we can do something.”


The video’s caption reads, “Our church is six months old. We don’t have a war chest of money. We believe God every week for what we need. New Study Shows Young Men with High Porn Consumption Are Less Likely to Marry


A new study shows that men who watch an “excessive” amount of pornography are less likely to get married. The study, which will be published in Sexuality & Culture, focused on the link between pornography use and marriage rates among young men. 


The study, written by Samuel L. Perry from the Department of Sociology at the University of Oklahoma and Kyle C. Longest from the Department of Sociology at Furman University, also found that pornography use had no effect on marriage rates among young women. 


The authors also reported that religious commitment does not change the pornography viewing among young men. The authors said, “Contrary to our expectations, religious commitment did not moderate the link between frequent pornography consumption and marriage entry for either men or women.”


The authors started with the hypothesis “higher levels of pornography viewing will be associated with a lower likelihood of entrance into marriage during early adulthood.” After their analysis, they determined that the hypothesis was “unsupported in the main.” However, they stated that this finding was skewed due to gender differences. While pornography use “was statistically unrelated to their likelihood of marriage,” they said that men who viewed porn regularly “were less likely to be married” than those who had more moderate viewing…

“George Herbert Walker Bush was America’s last great soldier-statesman, a twentieth-century founding father. He governed with virtues that most closely resemble those of Washington and of Adams, of TR and of FDR, of Truman and of Eisenhower, of men who believed in causes larger than themselves.”

With these words, biographer Jon Meacham eulogized President George H. W. Bush at yesterday’s state funeral in Washington, DC. The service at the National Cathedral was one of the most moving I have witnessed.

Several speakers referred to the late Barbara Bush, the president’s amazing wife of seventy-three years, and to their daughter Robin, who died of leukemia at the age of three. I was especially touched when President George W. Bush ended his wonderful eulogy in tears as he said, “Dad is hugging Robin and holding Mom’s hand again.”

I was reminded of a cartoon published after Mr. Bush died. It pictures a World War II fighter plane now landed in heaven. Next to it are the president and Barbara wearing her trademark pearls, holding hands with little Robin. His wife says, “We waited for you.”

“Why was I spared?”

The great theologian and spiritual writer Henri Nouwen noted: “We have to prepare ourselves for our death with the same care and attention as our parents prepared themselves for our births.” George H. W. Bush was prepared for his death long before it came.

His son noted in his eulogy that Mr. Bush nearly died twice–once from a staph infection when he was a teenager and once when he was shot down in the Pacific in World War II. George W. Bush then said, “For dad’s part, I think those brushes with death made him cherish the gift of life. And he vowed to live every day to the fullest.”

According to Meacham, Mr. Bush thought nearly every day about his brush with death during the war and asked himself, “Why me? Why was I spared?” Meacham offered this answer: “The workings of providence are mysterious, but this…

Cardinal Nichols to appear in public after unknown illness

The most senior Catholic leader in England and Wales shall give evidence next week to a national investigation into how child sex abuse within institutions was handled.

He will appear on Thursday 13th December as the Independent Inquiry in Child Sexual Abuse is turning its attention to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.

 

The 73-year-old had been forced to leave early a ceremony at Westminster Cathedral on Sunday 11th November over an undisclosed illness.

 

Cardinal Nichols was deemed unfit to give evidence to the IICSA as planned in November and his appearance was postponed.

A statement released at the time said he was “keen” to make representations concerning his time as Archbishop of Birmingham.

A series of IICSA hearings are examining how church leaders, prosecutors, police and other agencies handled the abuse of youngsters by clergy between 1950 and 2000.

A student project showcased at California State University San Marcos alleged the programme unfairly portrayed villainous character as members of racial minorities.

Eric Metaxas, who also narrates the show, told PJ Media: “All vegetables are part of one race, even though they are of many colours.

 

“They are all descended from the same parents – the Adam and Eve of vegetables, who foolishly ate a forbidden fruit (irony?) and screwed everything up for all vegetables descended from them

“At least, I’m pretty sure that’s the story.”

 

According to student news website College Fix, the project, named ‘Children in the Church’, claimed bad characters in VeggieTales tend to have accents of ethnic minorities, such as Latinos.

It concluded: “When kids see the good white character triumph over the bad person of colour character, they are taught that white is right and minorities are the source of evil.”

 

The display formed part of a ‘Whiteness Forum’ which critically analysed the portrayal of race in the media and public life.

Other exhibits criticised racial representation in the National Football League (NFL) and support among white women for Donald Trump.
