Topic: The Termination of Captivity [Seeds of Destiny 25 November 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. Acts 16:26

Thought For The Day: Every captivity is terminate-able by the power of God.

The Power of God is the terminator of all forms of human captivity. The release of God’s Power is the liberation of man.

A woman once testified in our church of how God delivered her from the spirit of masturbation. Before the deliverance, she always found herself in the dream surrounded by hefty dogs that would not allow her to move. These hefty dogs established her in the doggish and immoral prison of masturbation for eighteen years until she encountered the Power of God in one of our church services.

There are many people today who are in diverse captivities and imprisonments in life: captivity of alcoholism, tobacco smoking, immorality, barrenness, prolonged singleness, poverty, marital crisis, etc.

But the good news is, every captivity is terminate-able by the power of God.

Now, let me show you how the Power of God deals with captivities:
1. The Power of God shakes or destroys the foundation of prisons (Acts 16:26). Every prison has a foundation; there is something strengthening or supporting its existence. The power of God destroys this foundation.

2. The Power of God forces open prison doors.
In Acts 16:26, the Bible says, ‘…immediately all doors were opened….’ So, Prison has doors; and the doors of prison can be forced opened for the captive to come out by the Power of God.

Today, I declare to you by the mantle of God upon my life: wherever the devil has kept you in life, there is a way out for you now. You are coming out, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Every captivity is terminate-able by the power of God.

Assignments:
1. Make demands on God to reveal and destroy every foundation of evil sponsoring the challenges in your life.
2. Abide in the atmosphere of God’s Presence consistently; in His Presence is His power.

Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. 1 Peter 2:12 nlt

Amy lives in a closed country where it’s forbidden to preach the gospel. She’s a trained nurse who works in a big hospital, caring for newborn babies. She’s such a committed professional that her work stands out, and many women are curious about her. They are moved to ask her questions in private. It’s then that Amy shares about her Savior openly.

Because of her good work, some co-workers were envious and accused her of stealing some medicine. Her superiors didn’t believe them, and authorities eventually found the culprit. This episode led some of her fellow nurses to ask about her faith. Her example reminds me of what Peter says: “Dear friends . . . . Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God” (1 Peter 2:11–12 nlt).

Our everyday lives at home, in our work environment, or at school make an impact on others when we let God work in us. We’re surrounded by people who are watching the way we speak and behave. Let’s depend on God and have Him rule our actions and thoughts. Then we’ll influence those who don’t believe and this may lead some of them to turn in faith to Jesus.

Prayer: Father, help me to live in such a way that Your name will be honored wherever I go.

Our lives speak louder than our words.

Insight:
Being misunderstood or falsely accused is inevitable in a broken world. But in those vulnerable moments, Peter argues, it’s especially crucial for believers to strive to follow Christs example of responding to suffering with love rather than lashing out (1 Peter 2:12, 21). “Submitting” to those with power (v. 13) doesn’t mean blind obedience, but rather letting go of our natural desire to control or overpower others. And as we fearlessly display Christ’s love and the ways of our Lord’s kingdom (vv. 13, 16), God may even use us to guide others to His love.

Open Heaven 25 November 2018 Sunday MESSAGE:

Our God is a holy God. At the same time, He is Love. From time to time, the holiness of God and the love of God may clash. His holiness will direct Him to go one way while His love will direct Him to go the other way. These two divine attributes may therefore seem to be at odds with each other. When the love of God wins we obtain mercy, but when His holiness triumphs, we get judgement. Many times, God’s holiness deliberately allows His love to keep winning. Why? Because it knows that it is already settled that without holiness, no man shall see God (Hebrews 12:14). Our deeds often deserve God’s judgement, but the love of God triumphs, and we obtain mercy. One thing is certain: it is because the love of God wins that we are able to see another day. Thank God for His mercies, because they are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Love is optimistic, always saying to God, “Don’t lose hope in him; he will get better; let’s give him another day to repent and become holy.” However, a day will come when God’s judgement will take its course.

On the basis of the scripture that says “the mercy of God endures forever”, some people make several ridiculous claims. Some of them say “I can do whatever I like; the mercy of God that has helped me thus far will keep forgiving me forever.” Some even prepare their confessional plea before they commit sin! They say to God, “Please forgive me for this lie I am about to tell.” Such people are only deceiving themselves. The fact that God’s love grants us access to His mercy does not mean that God is stupid. Yes, the mercy of God endures forever, but not for those who do not fear Him. Psalm 103:17-18 says:

“17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; 18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.”

Those who fear God are wise enough to know that any pleasure derived from sin is actually poisoned. If you fear Him, you will know that although He is a very good friend, He can also be a very dangerous enemy. If He decides to fight you, no one can rescue you from His hands. It is folly for a child to keep annoying his or her father just because he or she was forgiven yesterday. One day, the father will turn to that child with a rod, and because the child has been steadily building up annoyance in the heart of the father, that rod will do some serious havoc. I pray that God will touch your heart and take away every appetite for sin in Jesus’ Name.

Greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears…. I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you…. For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:4,6-7, New King James Version

There are times when you know what God has called you to do, but you just don’t feel you have the inner resources you need to do it. Somehow you’ve simply run dry. You know the Word says that “out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38). But, during those times, you can’t even find the creek bank, much less the river.

The Word of God tells us how to handle those situations through a clear command: “Stir up the gift inside you.”

You stir yourself up! Everything you need is already in you. Jesus put it there. Everything you’ll ever need to accomplish what God has called you to do has been placed inside you by God Almighty.

Faith is in there. Power is in there. Love is in there. Believe that. Speak it out. Say it to yourself now, right out loud:

“In the Name of Jesus, I stir up the gift that’s within me by faith. I’m stirring up my faith. I’m not going to wait until I feel stirred up. I’m stepping out by faith and expecting my feelings to follow!

“I’m stirring up the love of God that’s in me. I’m stirring up the power. I’m stirring up myself and running the devil out of my affairs. I’m stirring myself up in the Spirit of the living God! I am stirred up!”

John 18:20 “Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.”

The truths of God are hidden for His children, not from them. The Holy Spirit has been instructed to teach us all things (Jn. 14:26) and has given us an unction so that we will know all things (1 Jn. 2:20). We only have to appropriate what is ours.

What God desires His New Testament saints to know, that the Old Testament saints could not know, is “Christ in you the hope of glory.” The coming of the Messiah was predicted in the Old Testament, but the idea that He would actually dwell in us was beyond anyone’s imagination. However, the New Testament is clear that Christ, by the Holy Spirit, takes up permanent residence in all believers. This is a wonderful truth that some fail to fully appreciate. Solomon said at the dedication of the temple, “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?” We could say, “How much less this physical body?” This is truly amazing!

The Lord’s commitment to dwell in us and never leave us or forsake us (Heb. 13:5), must be taken as an indication of His great love for us. If we continually thought upon this, with all its implications, how could we ever be lonely or discouraged? We couldn’t! Depression and self-pity would cease!

Why would it matter what others thought of us if we truly understood how much Jesus thought of us?

Our attitudes and fears reveal that this revelation of “Christ in us” is not a well established revelation in most Christians. However, this verse makes it clear that our Father wants to make “the riches of the glory of this mystery” known unto us. We should all be seeking a greater revelation of this truth.

Topic: Whose Son Is He? [Billy Graham Devotional 25 November 2018]

To us there is but one God, the Father . . . and one Lord Jesus Christ . . . — 1 Corinthians 8:6

Ultimately, in one way or another, or at one time or another, we shall be faced with this question: What think ye of Christ? Whose Son is He? If Jesus Christ is not who He claimed to be, He is a deceiver, or an egomaniac. We must answer this question with both belief and action. We must not only believe something about Jesus, but we must do something about Him. We must accept Him, or reject Him.

Jesus made clear who He was, and why He came into the world. He asked His disciples, “Whom do men say that I, the Son of man, am?” They told Him of a variety of designations on the human level. Then Jesus turned to them and asked, “But whom say ye that I am?” Whereupon Peter replied with his historic affirmation, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:13-16).

This is the apex of faith. This is the pinnacle of belief. This is where the faith of each must rest if he hopes for salvation. Christ is inescapable! You, too, must decide, “What shall I do with Christ?”

Prayer for the day: You are the Christ, Lord Jesus, Son of the living God! In adoration I worship You—my Redeemer.
