A Colorado woman is selling the elements of communion in two pills — matzo bread powder in one pill and red wine extract in the other — and sparking debate over the definition of the Lord’s Supper.

Theresa Lay, a businesswoman, told CBS4 in Denver that the pills can be used by Christians who are traveling or who are in remote locations, such as military personnel overseas.

“Large groups or just people on the go who want to worship and give thanks to God,” she said. “That’s pretty much how I invented the communion pill.”

The product is called “God’s Pill.” She came up with the idea during a personal tragedy. 

“I had gone through loss in my life and I was taking daily communion,” she said. “And I thought about a portable way, a quick and easy way to do it.”

Lay added, “I believe communion brings hope and healing to the world. It’s been 2,000 years since the last supper and it’s new every time someone celebrates.”

Readers on the CBS4 Facebook page were divided over her product.

“I don’t think that’s what God had in mind,” one person wrote.

Wrote another person, “I have friends in the mission field and though I don’t care for the name, see it as a way for them to celebrate communion in far-away places.”

Minor League baseball player and former NFL football player Tim Tebow, is set to host the CBS’s upcoming competition series Million Dollar Mile.

Tebow, who is currently working as a college football commentator for ESPN, will be hosting the high stakes physical competition series with the voice of the LA Chargers Matt “Money” Smith and sports commentator Maria Taylor. 

The ten-episode series follows competitors as they try to win $1 million. According to Deadline.com, competitors will have the opportunity to win the $1 million prize when they run the Million Dollar Mile, but first, they must complete what Deadline is calling, “the most challenging course ever designed.” 

While completing the course, competitors will also have to beat elite athletes whose job is to stop the contestants from winning the money. 

The series is currently in production in Los Angeles for a ten-episode series and is set to be broadcast on CBS.

“Watching good people compete at their highest ability is always inspirational to me,” said Tebow while speaking of the show. “Million Dollar Mile is a show that does just that – it motivates, thrills and is aspirational, and I’m excited to be hosting this show.”

Million Dollar Mile is being executive produced by NBA MVP LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment company.

Harvest Bible Chapel in greater Chicago whose founder James MacDonald recently slapped several former members and an independent journalist with a defamation lawsuit, has reported their chief information officer for allegedly stealing approximately $270,000.

The church first cited the theft in an October 23 email to members stating the amount represented less than one percent of their annual budget.

“Last week, we discovered evidence that a non-ministry member of our staff who worked in operations defrauded the church of an amount of money. If the evidence proves true, this would lead to a criminal charge being filed, and a preliminary report was filed today with the Elgin police department,” the church said.

“The amount of money in question appears to be less than 1% of our annual budget and the time period appears to be less than a year. This person has never led any public ministry in our church and is on leave pending the completion of this investigation. We are looking to lay leaders and outside expertise who will work with our insurance on maximum recovery of funds. HYDERABAD, India, November 13, 2018 (Morning Star News) – Five families in eastern India were at a worship service last month when they received a phone call telling them to return to their homes immediately.

 

The Christians rushed nearly four miles from their church in Lisiya village to their homes in Durula, West Singhbhum District in Jharkhand state, where they found the shanty of one of the families in ruins. Villagers under the influence of tribal movement Adivasi Ho Samaj had left the home of Sidiu Bari and his family in shambles.

 

Members of the Adivasi Ho Samaj, which in turn had come under the influence of Hindu extremists to join forces against the spread of Christianity, persuaded villagers that they must drive the five Christian families out, area resident Subod Sinku told Morning Star News.

 

“They damaged Bari’s roof, threw away their clothes and utensils and took away a sum of 20,500 rupees [US$280],” Sinku said. “Even after all this, they were not done. There was lot of verbal abuse and verbal grilling that continued for at least a week after the [Oct. 18] incident.”

 

Threatened with expulsion from the village and with seizure of their farmland, three of the five families converted back to the tribal religion, Sarnaism, he said.

The United Methodist Church and The Episcopal Church are one step closer to entering into an agreement in which they will be in full communion with each other.

At a multiday meeting held last week, the UMC Council of Bishops voted to approve the preparation of legislation to carry out the full communion proposal, titled “A Gift to the World: Co-Laborers for the Healing of Brokenness.”

“In the fractured human community there is a great need for the realization of the unity among the followers of Christ Jesus,” stated the Preamble.

“This proposal for full communion between The Episcopal Church and The United Methodist Church is an effort to bring our churches into closer partnership in the mission and witness to the love of God and thus labor together for the healing of divisions among Christians and for the well-being of all.”

Planned Parenthood found itself engulfed in controversy when an ad in support of the organization was recently posted to the internet. The ad in question depicted a short video of a live baby girl before displaying the caption “she deserves to be a choice.”

The ad, which comes from left-wing advocacy organization the Agenda Project Action Fund, gained popularity after Nigerian pro-life activist Obianuju Ekeocha posted the video to her Twitter feed on Friday.

Although the ad is only 40 seconds in duration, it has elicited strong reactions from many who have seen it. Texas Governor Greg Abbott posted his horrified reaction to Twitter, saying: “This has to be a joke. If not, it is truly jarring.”

The video presents footage of a happy baby girl cooing as the tune of a lullaby plays in the background. Interspersed with the footage is a message that reads: “She deserves to be … loved, She deserves to be … wanted, She deserves to be … a choice.”

Missouri megachurch pastor John Lindell has warned his 10,000-member congregation not to participate in yoga, saying that positions associated with exercise and meditation activity were designed to “open you up to demonic power.”

Lindell, the pastor of the James River Church in Ozark, gave a sermon titled “Pursuing the Paranormal” on the Sunday before Halloween in which he spoke out against “demonic influences” such as paganism, witchery, sorcery, fortune-telling, astrology and elements of Eastern mysticism such as yoga.

“I am doing this because it seems that our culture is becoming increasingly obsessed with all things paranormal,” the Assemblies of God pastor said at the beginning of the sermon.

“According to a Gallup poll, three-in-four Americans believe in the paranormal and in a recent Pew poll, 40 percent of Christians believe in psychics, 29 percent of Christians believe in reincarnation and 26 percent of Christians believe in astrology. … The entertainment industry has taken note by responding to a plethora of video games, television shows and movies.”
